"Longtime brunch hit Bongo Room will close its Andersonville outpost after service on Sunday, March 10 after a dozen years at 5022 N. Clark Street, owner Derrick Robles announced on Facebook. Robles founded the original Bongo Room with late chef and business partner John Latino in 1993 in Wicker Park and despite a rocky start, the pair went on to garner a reputation for fun, playful brunch fare like fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes and banana bread French toast. Over the years, they expanded into South Loop (the location closed in 2019), and later, Andersonville. The Wicker Park restaurant remains open on Milwaukee Avenue." - Ashok Selvam

"Or instead of dinner, give someone a celebratory brunch spread from The Bongo Room. This weekday brunch spot is known for dishes like their chocolate tower French toast, and white chocolate and caramel pretzel pancakes, which they’ve turned into take-and-bake bread puddings. They also have savory strata, biscuits and gravy pot pie, and a selection of to-go mimosas. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

We enjoyed a marvelous breakfast here on a weekday afternoon. The space is inviting and relaxing, with lovely art on the walls. The staff was welcoming. Our server perfectly balanced giving us attention and allowing us privacy. My husband loved the Vegetarian Breakfast Croissant. Just the right mix of flavors and textures, especially with the basil mayo. The house potatoes were nicely spiced with no bitterness in the skin of these red potatoes. I loved the White Chocolate and Caramel Pretzel Pancakes. Such a delicious combination. And there was plenty of sauce for every bite to be a treat. They do add a surcharge to cover the cost of using a credit card. So, if you're paying cash, be sure you mention this to your server.

How have a never eaten here until today? Josh is great! Food is pretty incredible. The Saturday-only chocolate French toast is made in heaven, I'm sure. Fresh juices are all great. The blends were the best!

Google
Friendly staff and busy place. The food looked good but wasn’t stellar. I ordered the Poached Shrimp BLT with house potatoes. The sandwich looked gorgeous but definitely lacked in flavor. Very bland. Plus there were only 7 baby shrimp total in the entire sandwich! At $15 I’d expect more shrimp since that was supposed to be the main ingredient. Next time I’ll order some type of meat sandwich.

Small Bar up front, dining room in the back and a nice patio out back. Great coffee served up in diner mugs, awesome pancakes and good service. The space is cleanly decorated and seating is comfortable. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly (we arrive right when then opened on a weekday), and our waiter had a good grasp of the menu. The coffee was very good.

I’ve been here for a few times already during the weekends. Tasty breakfasts with out of menu dishes (for example, I’ve ordered a sautéed spinach on a side)… be prepared to rather go vegetarian here… and ready to have a good time with a few cocktails as well which are quite generous! Great vibe, great food, bring friends like breakfast vibe! Try them out!

Google
Food is solid for brunch, but skip the coffee drinks here. We ate the breakfast burrito with chorizo and the fajitas- both flavorful and filling. All the coffees our table ordered were really weak, both the iced latte and ice coffees- we should have gotten some of the other beverages- I will try them next time. Back patio was a lovely place to sit.

Google
Amazing food! Hands down one of the best brunch places I’ve been to anywhere. It’s not on the menu but you can order a single pancake if you want something else but also want something sweet. Oreo pancake was DELICIOUS! So was the chocolate French toast tower thing. If you’re even just considering trying this place, definitely go check it out.

Google
Have come here a number of times over several years and it has always been consistent in terms of service, atmosphere and quality of food. Love the variety of dishes they offer for Sunday brunch. It's no secret, the Bongo Room has been and continues to be a "go to" place!

Yelp
I love Bongo room. I went here yesterday for Sunday brunch and wasn't too packed (also it was marathon weekend). I LOVE LOVE the caramel pancakes...it is sweet so I like to get a savory entree as well and usually just make the pancake as a side (1 pancake only)

Yelp
I've heard nothing but good things about Bongo Room, and since I'm in walking distance from them, I decided to stop by. The restaurant is spacious and the ambiance is great. Good service, too. I ordered the breakfast burrito and really enjoyed it. I plan on going back and sampling other items on the menu.

Yelp
If you would like to visit The Bongo Room - it's very popular so get there earlier than planned or be ok to wait! Luckily, our wait was only 20-25 minutes. Firstly, the vibe of the place was really chill. I can see why it's a great place for brunch! The food was really good too! My partner and I went here to double date with some friends and let me tell ya: ube pancakes? BOMB. My partner usually always has leftovers from being full but they devoured the pancakes. I got the chilaquiles verdes and they were so good I ate all of it there too. Mine had chorizo but you could choose to have chicken instead. Drinks wise: I got the raspberry purée mimosa and also the Wake Me Up cold brew one. Loved them both but they did have the alcohol taste so if you like to drink but not be able to taste it, I suggest getting the mango mimosa because my partner drank that one. All in all, great experience, would definitely recommend!

Yelp
It's been a min since I've been to this location, and I thought I had written this review already. Bongo Room is delicious! Beautiful interior leading into the back porch area. When you first enter the restaurant, it looks almost like you are in a fancy hotel spot, but the further you go back, the environment comes alive. The space has nice warm browns and golden colors. The day we went, it was slightly sprinkling. The Bongo Room had umbrellas which were the perfect size to keep us dry. I stopped eating bacon, so I got the turkey sausage with eggs and potatoes, but I had to try their amazing pancakes. My friend also got the pancakes and thoroughly enjoyed them; overall, this is one of the most inventive brunch menus and another great addition to Clark street. 4 out of 5

Yelp
I came here for Sunday brunch at approximately 10:15 am and our group of three was seated immediately. The place, which is very nicely decorated, was relatively full and only got busier as the morning progressed. It was a bit too loud for my liking, but not as loud as to not be able to hold a conversation. A waitress showed up very quickly to bring water and take our orders (they have a QR code menu). She was super nice and took the time to explain the options. Unfortunately, their brunch menu is very meat-heavy, so my vegetarian partner had to choose from the breakfast menu. I had the Classic Eggs Benedict, which was very tasty. The hollandaise was, unfortunately, a bit runny and the side of potatoes seemed to be scraped off the bottom of the pan, which added extra aroma. However, the eggs themselves were excellently poached. I also had the Moroccan Mint Green tea, which came in a mini teapot with unlimited hot water refills. My partner was also very happy with her breakfast burrito. They also seemed to have a very wide selection of sweet brunch and breakfast options, so I am excited to go back and try those.

Yelp
Delightful. We came here for breakfast while vacationing in Chicago and we were not disappointed. We ordered the special of the day (blueberry pancakes with lemon cream drizzle), plain French toast, scrambled eggs for some protein and a cup of coffee. Totally was around $38 with tip The blueberry pancakes were the best pancakes I've ever tasted. The perfect combo of sweet but not sickly sweet. I could slurp that lemon cream drizzle from a bowl. Delicious. The French toast was perfectly cooked and golden to perfection. Eggs were eggs but hit the spot. Coffee was meh. Too bitter. I'd skip it. Especially at $4. Best breakfast! Highly recommend.

Yelp
I've always loved the Bongo Room, it is a popular Chicago dining establishment with several locations. This review is for for the Andersonville location... I always see a line out the door as with all their locations. As this was my first time, I just expected that the dining was up front but most of it is in the back, which leads out to the outdoor patio. We highly recommend dining outside for the atmosphere and people watching. They were a bit understaffed so our waiter took awhile to get to us to take our order as well as to provide us a check. We were in jo rush so did not mind. Our waiter was actually covering both inside and outside!! Anyway, the menu looked familiar and had many of the same items at the other locations (like the breakfast burrito and chorizo omelette). They also had specials but many of them were sold out. I got the BLT Benedict special as I wanted to try something new. It was good and satisfying! Parking is a challenge especially during peak hours. We were able to find free street parking near the restaurant (meters are free on Sundays on Clark).

Yelp
Lots of hype for a minimal menu and expensive mims. Was really looking forward to brunch here for galentines and honestly, it just wasnt what The Bongo Room had been hyped to be. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. Service was nice and adequate, but nothing special or extraordinary. Not sure if I would venture out here for this again. Maybe bottomless mims would change my mind?

Yelp
So, we visited The Bongo Room this past Sunday with my wife's High School friend and she loved it as much as we did. This time we sat outdoors in the beautifully decorated patio, and it was so nice sitting outdoors. I ordered the same dish I had on my first visit, and it was again so delicious, chorizo omelet and potatoes. My wife had eggs over easy and ham and her friend had the omelet as well along with the French toast with berries. Everything was super delicious, and our friend loved the restaurant, she told us next time she visits visiting from Arizona she will bring her husband here.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to try out this place for a while, bur I heard about long waits, etc. But we came shortly after opening on a Thursday and were seated immediately. BTW, this restaurant is quite large, despite the modest storefront! We elected to sit in the patio - a really beautiful patio and we're given our silverware and menus. Our waiter gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu, but we knew we wanted the Key Lime pancakes and the white chocolate/ salted pretzel pancakes. The latter were good, but the Key lime were Excellent! Good coffee, too. They also offer 1 or 2 pancake versions of all their creations. We all agreed we'd be back soon. This is one place that deserves the hype!

Yelp
Avant-Garde menu and comfort food at the same time - why yes! You think I'm embellishing? Look at the menu. I'm having the caramelized apple pancakes with butterscotch mascarpone mousse - that just sounds delicious! And it IS! My wife is getting scampi Benedict who does that? Love the saltiness of the shrimp it's a perfect compliment to my sweet pancakes. The shrimp is really tasty. Chase that with a mimosa and what else can ask for? Patio seating is also available weather allowing.

Yelp
Walked over to the Bongo Room while vacationing in Chicago. Nice Sunday brunch spot. Perfect time of year to sit outside. I was able to be seated right away. Service was a little slow. No big deal, I wasn't in a hurry. The reason for 4 stars is my food came out ice cold. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to wait any longer. Even cold, the food was scrumptious! I had a latte, the deconstructed lobster roll benedict with a side of potatoes and a slice of chocolate french toast. The lobster roll benedict did not disappoint. And the sauce under the chocolate french toast tasted like banana pudding! Mmmmmm Mm!!

Iris H.

Yelp
A go to brunch spot for sure. The Bongo Room is right on the corner and shared a parking lot with Orange Theory which is about $4/hour. There's free street parking on Sundays though which is clutch. They were almost at full seating with some spots left between folks but there's not much social distancing still happening since restrictions are lifted. I've been here a couple times before and enjoyed their pancakes and French toast. This time around I ordered the eggs Benedict and substituted the bacon for chicken sausage. I also got the raspberry pear mimosa. Our drinks came right away and the food took about 15 minutes. The chicken sausage was huge, but they cut it up lengthwise and across to fit two 3-4 pieces on each. The hollandaise sauce was amazing and the poached egg perfectly done. The fish came with spinach and potatoes. The potatoes were a bit over cooked but with hot sauce and ketchup they were delicious. Overall a great brunch spot and I recommend The Bongo Room if you haven't been.

Molly M.

Yelp
I will always love the Bongo room and have been going for years. I feel like the service can be hit or miss across both the Andersonville and Wicker Park locations but the food is always on point and it's still my fav. I'd give it 4.7 stars for being a consistent fav.

Yelp
Came to The Bongo Room for brunch, but stayed for their relaxing patio and fun list of mimosas. Wanting to catch up on a Sunday with a group of three friends all living north of Lakeview, I suggested we try The Bongo Room. A word of caution -- this restaurant doesn't take weekend reservations so we arrived at 11AM and put our names on the brunch wait list. After waiting for an hour, we were seated at the back patio. The patio is intimate and casual, with wooden seating and greenery. We ordered a round of drinks. Their mimosa list is filled with creative mixes, including guava and blackberry and orange and mango. I ordered the blackberry and grapefruit mimosa and the BLT Benedict, with the bacon on the side since I've become a pescatarian. I originally hoped to order the lobster roll benedict, but by 12 PM it had sold out. I will say that "healthy" options are limited on their brunch menu. However, the food was good. I enjoyed the hollandaise on my benedict, but it wasn't extraordinary. The service was prompt and friendly. My bill came out to about $30 after tax and tip. The wait isn't worth it for the food in my opinion, but I highly recommend the patio for drinks this summer!

Yelp
After years of living literally down the street from this place, I finally decided to make a stop. My friend and I were pretty hung over, shout out to this new "almost in your 30's can't drink more than 2 glasses of wine" thing we've started experiencing. We had to wait about 15 for a table which for the Bongo Room is amazing wait time. I've had friends wait almost 2 hours! Once our table was ready we were asked if sitting at the bar was ok, we didn't care. Literally just wanted carbs and caffeine asap! Our server, who I think was also the hostess, took our drink orders. Two extra dirty Chai lattes, boy did they hit the spot. My headache started to feel better within 3 sips! I got the Chorizo Potato Avocado Omelette zero regrets there! It comes with a side of red salsa and hot sauce, added both and man did it really bring the flavors out!! My friend ordered the Smoked mozzarella and turkey sausage sandwich he was super content with it! We're both not the biggest fans of breakfast potatoes but were pleased with the ones we received with our meals! They were fresh, well seasoned and tender. We left wishing we had ordered the banana flapjacks with heath pancakes, but figured all that extra sugar wouldn't help our dehydrated, hungover, aging bodies!! Will for sure be making a stop in the near future to try them!!

Gerry B.

Yelp
Great food and great service. This place is clean, relaxed and casual vibe. Great place for brunch!

K Z.

Yelp
I was told this place is known for pancakes, but I wanted an omelette...the ingredients were not mixed together at all. In the fold was a bit of mozzarella (not enough), then the spinach was next, then the tomatoes at the outer edge. I prefer all the ingredients to be mixed together (plus, it was rather bland). The potatoes were soft, but I didn't like the seasoning. The coffee was very weak. Cute place, but I would not go back.

Eddie C.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I never really understood the popularity of brunch as a concept. Waiting over an hour plus for prettied up breakfast food at a premium price. Maybe it's the idea of drinking with breakfast that makes it so appealing? That said, of have to list my first experience at Bongo Room as my last as well. Things started well walking in, with ample parking (was full but still lot of stalls), nice decor and an interesting menu. But from the minute the food came it was downhill from there. The overarching theme is "the restaurant that flavor forgot" (for all those who are old enough to have watched them movie with a related title). The lemonade and turkey sausage my daughter got had no sweetness or saltiness, respectively. I ordered the blt Benedict and chocolate stacked French toast. Like my daughter's choices, my Benedict looked great as you can tell from the pic but was lacking ALL flavor. I even ordered a side of bacon to amp up the taste but how can bacon not add salt to a dish m when the bacon itself needs to be salted! How is that possible??? I think I went to the salt shaker at least 4 times, and even then, no go. Is there such a thing as low sodium salt? If not, this place invented it. The highlight was the French toast with everything tasting as it should. Chocolate, sweet? Check. Banana, fruity? Check. Vanilla sauce, vannillay? Check. Only probably was that the toast was dry and needed the epic lake of sauce underneath it. This experience has done nothing to tamper my detain for brunch. Oh well, I'll settle for a weekday breakfast with a side of booze please.

Jessica J.

Yelp
Great brunch spot! It's no wonder there's normally quite the wait to get in on the weekends. Luckily for our group, we arrived in perfect time to be seated right away. The six of us were sat up front with no other tables or groups near by, so the social distancing was easy. Keep in mind, masks are required upon entry and each time the server comes to the table. Plus, it's menu-less ordering, meaning you view everything on your phone via the QR code provided. Definitely seems like Bongo Room is taking on great safety precautions. The food though (that's what were here for right?), was all around delicious! I had the Tomatillo Salsa Scramble and I would most certainly order it again. Amongst the scrambled egg whites was grilled, juicy chicken, sautéd spinach, big avocado chunks, tomatoes, and a delicious green salsa. It was filling and flavorful for sure. Everyone else enjoyed their dishes including a breakfast burrito, croissant sandwich, and a few omelets. Oh and let's not forget the pancakes we ordered for the table to share. I'm not normally a sweets person when it comes to breakfast time, but oh my goodness the White Chocolate and Caramel Pretzel Pancakes were worth it. They're topped with crushed salted pretzels and a warm white chocolate cream and buttery caramel swirl. Could I eat these in their entirety? No chance. But sharing a few bites was perfect. Overall Bongo Room has a cool vibe and good eats. I wouldn't hesitate to return when I'm next in town!

Momma M.

Yelp
The food flavors are always very good here. They have excellent pancakes if your into decadent breakfast treats. However the wait staff is quite snarky and borderline rude. I dined here this week with a friend and we both commented on how we didn't feel exactly welcomed at Bongo room. Sadly, I won't be dining in again at Bongo room. There are plenty other breakfast diners in the area.

Ilana O.

Yelp
This place had been on my list for ages (I think a different location, but still). The boyfriend and I stopped by this place after putting our name on the list for Dispensary 33 to pick up some recreational bud. We arrived around 9am and were so glad that we did because by 9:40 it was PACKED and I imagine that there was a wait, despite this place being pretty well sized for the area. We over-ordered, but we had just come from the gym (when you know, we could do things like go to the gym), and we each ordered a savory main and then split what I like to call breakfast dessert. My vegeterian croissant sandwich was filling and solid, the boy seemed to inhale his meat laden omelette, but of course the star was the chocolate infused/drizzled french toast tower. I mean. COME ON. Was SO decadent and delicious and probably contains all of the things that are still attached to the fat on my hips, but holy heck - YUM. Coffee and three entrees with tip = $66.

Robinsue B.

Yelp
Came here for Brunch and service and food were excellent! The wait staff promptly seated us. Once we put in our order, the food was quick and delicious. Unique items on the menu, including a dark chocolate French toast. Really rich, but exactly what I wanted.

Kathy M.

Yelp
Wonderful fruit plate!! Everything was fresh and plated beautifully. Hubby ordered an omelet with potatoes and bacon. He said it was good, but thought he might order a signature dish the next time instead of the made to order omelet. Staff was friendly and attentive and the place is spacious inside with a nice little patio in the back.

Shane D.

Yelp
Top 5 brunch meals I've ever had! And I'm not easy to impress lol. We sat on the patio, which was cute, spacious and shaded. Service was pretty standard. Attentive and efficient. The busser brought water immediately and even swept around the kiddo's high-chair mid-meal, which we def appreciated (you know how it is w/ toddlers). The menu had a wide array of interesting and thoughtful savory and sweet choices. The food was soooo good. I had salmon scramble w/ greens instead of potatoes. Usually a substitution like that you get a few leaves, but this was a full salad of arugula, radish, grape tomatoes and julienned cukes with a delicious dressing. Also got a side of 1 blueberry coconut pancake with lemon whipped cream (they have an array of delicious sounding combos). It was amazing. Loved that you can order just 1...and the lemon whipped was light and perfectly tart. Even my iced coffee tasted fresh and tasty--iced coffee is always a crap shoot since a lot of places either pour hot coffee over ice (making it watery) or it's been sitting awhile and tastes sour. We all had minor special orders and substitutions, and they were totally fine with it, which isn't always the case. The only minor neg feedback is they charge $2(!) for almond, oat or skim milk with coffee. Seems rather excessive. All in all, though, it was delightful and yummy. Great food, nice space, fun time.

Jeff D.

Yelp
This place has been a consistent solid option for brunch both before and during the pandemic. Yes, you'll have to wait sometimes but the wait is worth it. Their staff is friendly, courteous and welcoming. I've had their scrambles, to their omelettes to their french toasts and all have been winners. Special kudos goes out to their coffee as well as I believe it's Intelligentsia. I love me some descent coffee during b-fast or brunch. The only hang up is parking because if you can't find metered parking on Clark, you'll have to park in their parking lot they share with the gym next door and sometimes you end up paying longer than you should because you may have forgotten to end your parking session. Def check it out and if it's a super nice day, go sit in their patio!!

Celine E.

Yelp
Came for a late brunch on a Sunday and was able to get seated within 5 minutes of showing up. Got to sit in the patio area! Lots of umbrellas coverage so it was perfectly comfortable to sit outside to eat. I had the Lobster Benedict and it was delicious! I also got an iced vanilla latte and that was good as well. I'll definitely be back

Jacquelyn M.

Yelp
Great spot and sad it took me this long to check it out. Staff was so sweet & everyone there was just so happy to be dining together and enjoying a rainy Sunday brunch. BLT Benedict was great and the potatoes were delish covered in dill! Yum! And that's all I have to say about that. Jackée

Gil P.

Yelp
Nice cozy breaky place. Omelettes are amazing. You have a good choice of fillings. My wife gets the eggs Benedict. My kids whom are twenty something love when we go there. Great pancakes and very creative combinations. Service is good, gets busy but the waitstaff is always on point. I highly recommend going here. Street parking can be tough at times. Breakfast cocktails are tasteful but how can you go wrong with a mimosa in the morning.

Yelp
Decent food. Have not been in a few years but it was pretty good. Service was slow and there were only a few tables seated in the restaurant. It almost felt like the same person who took my order then went back into the kitchen and made the food. All told it was decent and I would go back.

Asja D.

Yelp
I've heard so many amazing things about this place that I had to go and check it out for myself (via takeout). I was craving eggs Benedict so bad and Bongo Room had not one but three different options for eggs Benedict. I ended up going with the shrimp Benedict and I also ordered the pear and cherry stuffed toast. The shrimp Benedict is only offered on the weekend brunches so don't go ordering it over the weekdays because it may not be available- always ask first! Anyways, knowing how slammed Bongo Room is on the weekends and considering how starving I was, I ordered ahead for pickup. It's located in Andersonville and I was Lincoln square area so not a long drive. Parking in Andersonville is always a struggle on the weekends but I think that there's a parking lot right next to Bongo Room where you can park if dining inside- at least that's where I parked to go get my food but again, double check if that's acceptable parking. Otherwise street parking is a little hard to find but not impossible and you can also get here with public transportation as well. I went inside, paid for my food and left in a matter of four minutes- it was a breeze! The food smelled so delicious that I couldn't help but eat a few of the potato wedges on the way home: Omgosh I don't think I've ever eaten better tasting potato's!! They were not only so flavorful but so so so so soft and easy to chew. I devoured the first shrimp Benedict- the shrimp was well seasoned, a little too well seasoned but it's okay because it gave the blandness of the eggs and hollandaise sauce the kick it needed so it was a perfect median. I didn't want to overstuff myself so I took breaks and ate the eggs Benedict in two sitting and man, it filled me up for the entire day! The pear and cherry stuffed toast was delicious and I ate it but it's just not my cup of tea- I'm more of a give me chocolate. Everyone has their own taste and although it's not my cup of tea it doesn't mean that it's not an amazing product because it's actually one of the most loved items on the menu! I highly recommend trying it though, perhaps you'll love it! Overall, I highly recommend this place, can't wait to go back and try what else is on the menu!

Yelp
On your website it has an option to go on the waiting list. It texts a confirmation. The restaurant claims they have no knowledge of this. Even after showing the confirmation, the host refused to acknowledge it. We had already waited 45 minutes. He made us wait an additional 30 minutes. HOW RUDE CAN YOU GET!! Buyer beware. Prices are also a little high and they add a fee to use your charge card. Other than all that, the food was fair. The restaurant was clean.

Tim M.

Yelp
We have recently moved form Seattle to Chicago and a few of us are brunch hopping each Sunday. Bongo was next on our list. The food was good. The service was only so so. Our waiter was professional enough but just that. Hurried and unfriendly and always acted like we were a hassle even though we asked for nothing. To me service is everything as I come from a long service industry job. This was lacking for sure.

Kimia N.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast! Shrimp scampi Benedict was good. Lemon pancake very good. Private and nice outdoor environment.

Marcia S.

Yelp
The best thing about The Bongo Room is the service. Even though it was breakfast on a Saturday, and the place was packed, the service never wavered. Our waitperson and busser were both friendly and very efficient. Wish I could rave about the food. I was going out to dinner that night, so chose something light... an omelet with fresh spinach, feta and onions. The portions of the non-egg ingredients were skimpy. The feta was almost non-existent. For $14, I expected more. It was also bland... should have at least included salsa on the side. My friend had the breakfast burrito and loved it. She smothered it in hot sauce (she smothers everything in hot sauce). The good news is her burrito came with salsa and cream cheese toppings on the side, and she donated some to me. Note that they don't substitute. So if you don't want to carbo load with potatoes and toast, you can "trade them" for slices of tomato (like I did). Coffee was excellent. The atmosphere is trendy. In comparison to other breakfast places I've reviewed, the prices here are on the high end. $3.50 for a cup of regular coffee. Parking was not as difficult as I'd anticipated. We drove around for a few minutes before lucking out with a spot a block away. I love shopping the unique stores in this neighborhood after a meal, so will probably give it another try.

The pancakes/french toast are always delish here, you can't go wrong with this location. Wait times are usually ~20mins or more, but it's worth the wait and there are cute shops around to explore. Their wait staff is so friendly! Also just a tip -- you can always order a single pancake if you don't want to place an entire order (4) of pancakes. Even 1 pancake is quite fulfilling. I figured this out later so wanted to share it here.

Yelp
I have been beating myself up for having never been here since I've lived fairly close for the last seven years. Mind blown. Truly a robust menu. Service was a bit more theatrical than I tend to like in the morning, but also great. Seriously, the food was on point! Food forward, yes! It's a great space to highlight the food. The kitchen is open. Lots of great neutrals in a bright. The area is a great open space. Seating is plentiful. I just found it to be a very wlll oiled machine. Server recommended a benedict. Not suprising, the Lobster Crab Sandwich. Holy hell, that is some seriously incredible food. Then we went with a single order of White Chocolate Pretzel Pancakes. This was a server recommendation. Best Pancake I've Ever Had!

Yelp
My favorite brunch spot. Recommend the Eggs Benedict and the white chocolate caramel pretzel pancakes.

Yelp
Frist ones in the door and 12 th. served. Un-clear how to order... bar code on table said to order online then waitress said she would take our order. So when she stops at our table to take order she informed us we needed to look at their on line menu. More time wasted! Food was ok.

Yelp
Great brunch spot with a varied menu, good flavors, and generous portion sizes. The Andersonville location is more spacious and has a backyard patio, so I recommend reservations, but the lines won't be as long as the South Loop and Wicker Park locations. The sweet pancakes (many menu and seasonal variations) are three huge pancakes with a fairly standard batter covered with the sweet cream or sauce. They honestly have the sweetness of a dessert and can be hard to finish the full stack. The breakfast burrito and veggie croissant are standouts- good portion sizes with good flavors. The house potatoes here are some of my favorites.

Yelp
Went for a birthday breakfast and it was amazing! We got a few things and everything taste great. Lobster Benedict is my new favorite and I will definitely be back for it. I didn't give it 5 stars because the customer service could be better. I know the food industry isn't the easiest to work in but DEAR GOD smile a little bit and pretend you like being there.

Yelp
I absolutely love The Bongo Room! I was introduced to this restaurant from a friend that raved about the food. Please be forewarned that you will have to wait no matter what time of day you go. I love the Bongo Room because you can view your place in line through their website. I never had to wait longer than 30 minutes for a table even on the busiest of days. Depending on the weather, I usually just take a quick walk around the neighborhood or visit a clothing near the restaurant while I wait. The restaurant is surprisingly very spacious. During my first visit I was seated in the front of the restaurant so I didn't get a chance to see just how big the restaurant was until my second visit. They a huge back room and when it's nice outside you can sit out back. I had the breakfast burrito and it was absolutely delicious. You can tell that they use fresh ingredients in their food based off the food quality. My friend ordered one of the gourmet pancake which looked delicious. I became more of a fan of the Bongo Room because the food is affordable. Most of the time I visit a more high end brunch place it's typically pricey but you get a bang for your buck with this place. I strongly recommend visiting here!

Yelp
This restaurant delivers with the food. I tried the pancakes, eggs, chicken sausage, and potatoes. As you can see, I was very hungry and their restaurant is very close by. Everything was very good and there is plenty of everything. The pancakes kind of surprised me because they are so fluffy and fat. I like that they are nice and plump (I know a weird description). They are huge! Okay moving on. I forgot to order sauce for them but for the first time I didn't mind, they were that good and huuge!!! I became sleepy afterwards because I was so satisfied. Oh my goodness breakfast food is so cathartic. Try the Bongo Room.

Yelp
We love going here for breakfast whenever we are in Chicago. Any of the eggs benny's are amazing!! The caramelized pretzel pancakes are to die for, though they are rich and a large serving. You just can't go wrong with The Bongo Room!

Yelp
Came here for breakfast over the weekend. I wasn't impressed. I ordered the croissant sandwich for $11 with a fried egg - the egg wasn't runny at all and was instead cooked to be over hard. The potatoes that were the accompanying side had some herb mix that was not the best either. Different than most breakfast potatoes, it wasn't something I was expecting or craving. My boyfriend enjoyed the chocolate French toast, so that accounts for the higher rating. The coffee they serve is intelligentsia and is good. The service could have been better. Our waitress took our order, brought us our tea and coffee, and then our water came - about 10 minutes after being seated, looking over the menu, ordering, receiving drinks. The parking lot next door you cannot utilize. Have to do street parking. We had no trouble finding parking.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here around 11:30am to grab a late breakfast and I have to say the customer service/food was great. Our waitress was so sweet and always had a smile on and made sure we were enjoying our food and everything was going good. We both got 2 kind of eggs Boyfriend: scramble eggs, house potatoes, English muffins, and bacon/sausage (bacon/sausage was extra cost) Me: sunny side eggs, house potatoes, whole wheat toast, and avocado (avocado was extra cost) The food was simple but delicious. I think will be coming back here

Yelp
Absolutely loved it ! The interior was very trendy yet calm and woody. The host greeted me upon walking in and since my friend was already inside, I just walked right in. We didn't get to sit outside because of the weather, although we wish we did! It became a lot sunnier once we were done with were meal. We ordered the Chorizo avocado omelette and the Cinnamon brioche french toast and they were both great. The french toast was my absolute favorite ! Service was great, ambiance was great, food was great! Will definitely return for lunch :)
