The 11 Best Restaurants For Fried Chicken In Houston

"It’s only fitting that a chicken that's worth waiting in a line that stretches the block makes this guide. That's the case at The Breakfast Klub in Midtown, and our favorite way to order the aforementioned fried chicken is with a giant waffle that takes up 80% of the plate. The wings flanking the waffle always arrive at the table gleaming and still sizzling with oil from their trip to the deep fryer. And they always taste better with a light dusting of powdered sugar, and after soaking in the warm maple syrup runoff." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

The 12 Best Restaurants At George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)

"Gate A7 Unlike the Midtown original, the line at The Breakfast Klub stays fairly short despite being right past the security line in Terminal A. Like the original, the fried chicken here tastes so good, it might make you want to pop a bottle of bubbles (yes, we saw someone do this). We hope you’re for ready for a long flight squeezed in a middle seat, ‘cause the food here will fill you up, and then some." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

It has been a few years since I have been here and wasn’t able to eat in town so I came early before my flight to get some food. I would have to say it is not as seasoned like the restaurant and just was a little disappointed. The waffles were amazing. The staff were amazing and I just think it was an off day. But I hope you give it a chance next time I fly back in.

I have been trying to go to this restaurant while I was in the Houston area, but didn’t get the chance to go to the one outside of the airport. I was pleasantly surprised. First of all, service, the cleanliness of the restaurant, the ease at which we could place an order. The food came out relatively fast. It was hot. It was very tasty. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. She offered suggestions to which we took as you could tell from the pictures. Most times when you go to the airports, the food is not that good but like I said, this is a good exception You can look at the videos and pictures that I have included in this review to judge the food for yourself if you’re ever at the George Bush international airport in Houston, definitely go to this place. I did pass by where the other one is located in the city and by the length of the line the food there is awesome also

Google
For an airport terminal, good. The only reason I gave food 4 stars is because the scrambled eggs weren't from fresh eggs but a pre-mix. Otherwise very good. Attentive service.

During a delayed flight, I stopped her for a glass of wine. My server, Tyra, was awesome. Good wine and great service. Plus, with a seat by the window, you can watch the planes come and go.

Google
Not too bad for an airport breakfast stop. We enjoyed the BET as well as Pancakes. Good sized orders. Cynthia, our waitress, waa great. She did her best to take care of us but the establishment seemed to be understaffed.

Google
Location in terminal A. Very tasty chicken and waffles. Server Cynthia was friendly and attentive.

Google
Great place to stop by while waiting on flight. If you have Ashley as your sever, you’ll be happy to have her. Great attitude and super nice. Food was certainly good. I had their version of an Irish coffee…it was not authentic but did the job. I’ll be back.

Google
Had to go to three tables before qr would scan, omlette and spuds were tasty and well made but toast was cold, decently priced for airport food, but sure its cheaper at the other store, looking forward to the burger

Yelp
Caught a craving during my layover at IAH and decided to try The Breakfast Klub--yes, the same one Houstonians rave about, now conveniently inside the airport. I had high hopes... and a flight to catch. I ordered the famous Katfish & grits combo. The Katfish came out hot and crisp, just how I like it. While the texture was on point, I do wish it had a bit more seasoning--it leaned more on the mild side. The grits, though? Buttery, smooth, and comforting--exactly what I needed at 9AM in Terminal A. The breakfast potatoes were also a win--crispy edges, soft centers, and seasoned just right. Now let's talk drinks--I treated myself to a glass of Prosecco, which came out to $20. A little steep for airport bubbles, but hey, sometimes layovers call for champagne decisions. Service was quick, and staff were friendly despite the morning rush. But like most airport dining, everything came with that travel-day price tag--so just know you're paying for convenience and calories.

Yelp
Again, add ZEROS please. Ordered for eat-in and seriously just watched three people who placed their orders a full 5minutes after us receive their food. Mostly nice people but, Overpriced, and SLOW.

Yelp
This restaurant is located in Terminal A in IAH airport and is very much on par with the original location in Houston. The restaurant is open with plenty of seating with colorful decor, and you just walk in and find your own seat. You order by scanning a QR code. I was slightly disappointed because there was no fruit or sourdough available, so I decided to order the toast. The waitress was super friendly and she promptly bought us water. The katfish was seasoned well and expertly fried. The grits were buttery and delicious. The potatoes were a little mushy and greasy. The waitress forgot my toast, but the portions were so big that I didn't ask. The chicken and waffles were exactly like the original location. The wings are ginormous and perfectly seasoned and crispy. The waffle was flavorful with a great texture. I wish that the butter was either room temp or whipped because it was very difficult to spread. My diagnosis: this is a must try chicken and waffles spot if you are flying out of Terminal A in IAH

Yelp
There was a long flight so we loaded up and headed to the bK for a bite to eat, it was a large group so it took a while for the food to come. The restaurant was packed but there was plenty of room for 20 of us. We ate fish/grits, wings/waffles, breakfast Klub sandwiches, pancakes and eggs just to name a few. When it came out they understood the assignment and we ate well needless to say. They were well prepared for a crowd and we put them to the challenge. Service with a smile. They have the QR code system to order. Service 10/10

Yelp
Airport food so didn't have much expectations but service was fast and the food was decent. Got the veggie omelet with a biscuit and potatoes. Omelet was hearty, as were the potatoes but the biscuit was so so and very dry even with jam and butter. Overall probably a decent option compared to other places in the terminal.

Yelp
Flying out of Terminal A at IAH airport in Houston, TX? There are a few local food options popular among Houstonians, and The Breakfast Klub is one of them. To be honest, I was a bit surprised by the low ratings on Yelp for this location, but decided to give it a try since it was 7:30 am (9 am Alaska Airlines flight) and I felt like Jack In the Box tacos would probably mess me up. I gotta say, the food was excellent and just as good as the OG downtown location. The chicken wings were piping hot, crispy, and decently seasoned (I actually think they could use a little more flavor, so I add hot sauce). The waffles were excellent and go well with the chicken. I'm not a huge fan of the butter which is served cold and hard to spread without tearing up the waffles. The platter is way too much food for one person (that's a good thing) but it's also very expensive to make up for it. I think my breakfast was over $30 after tax and tip. Maybe not the best value, but if you haven't tried this place, you really should. There is ample seating and it's kept generally clean. We were seated immediately and it wasn't full on a Wednesday morning at the start of summer vacations. Service was good. Staff are nice and food came out after 20 minutes of ordering. If you're in a super rush trying to catch a flight, you may want to think twice before placing an order here. Enjoy!

Yelp
4.3. Black-owned. If you're looking for a breakfast spot that truly lives up to the hype, The Breakfast Klub delivers--and then some. Their chicken and waffles are, without question, among the best I've ever had. The waffle is golden and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, with just the right touch of sweetness. But the star is the chicken: perfectly seasoned, fried to a crispy finish, and so juicy it practically melts in your mouth. The staff are friendly and service is made to order so be prepared for a 20 minute or more wait when busy. Even better, the portion sizes are generous and satisfying without being overwhelming. With The B.K. being a Houston staple, glad they landed at the airport. So excited for their growth and expansion. Take home message: if you have time to spare, at least 45 minutes, a stop at The Breakfast Klub is a must-visit for any chicken and waffle lover.

Yelp
Amazing place for an airport.. also amazing for anywhere. Maybe the best chicken and waffles I've had. I can only think of one other place that was as good. The seating area is large and comfortable which is great for an airport. My server was very attentive though the food took some time to prepare. I'd gladly wait since it was so well done. I told my server that it must be my birthday- so good!

Yelp
Terrible. I had a narrow window between connecting flights. Arrived and sat at the bar. Used the "QR Code system"'to order a Bloody Mary for $22.50. The waitress never acknowledged me, started serving people who arrived after me directly from the bar and my drink never arrived and I ran out of time and had to leave. So I paid $22.50 to have my time wasted by people who clearly don't understand the basics of running a restaurant. Do better.

Yelp
Have you ever had food poisoning in an airport? I have! I think it was the eggs. My girlfriend and I both ate the eggs. Shortly after, she was in the bathroom for 30 minutes while I threw up all over myself. In the middle of the airport. Right in front of the gate. TWICE. Like I had to throw away my shirt and pillow because they were so gross. Then, I proceeded to throw up IN THE PLANE. ALL OVER THE BATHROOM. This was not normal throw up, mind you. This was projectile. Like easily could go 3+ feet. What did it look like, you may ask? Eggs. So. Much. Egg. I will die before going into this place again

Yelp
Didn't have time to stop at the actual location so had to settle for the airport location! Service was good, I sat at the bar so you can either scan the QR code or order with the waitress. Food didn't take long to come out maybe 15mins. Nice view of a he tarmac. Breakfast was good! Omelette was delicious and filling. Breakfast was moist and buttery without the addition of butter. I've definitely had better grits though, but they weren't horrible.
google avatar

Yelp
The Catfish and grits here was outstanding even for take out. The server was friendly and provided excellent customer service. I enjoyed everything here and I will definitely be back!'

Yelp
This can't be the same Breakfast Klub (owner/recipes) that's located on Travis Street in Houston. I ordered chicken and waffles with a lemonade and the food and lemonade didn't taste the same. The waffles and chicken tasted OK. The lemonade wasn't freshly made like the Travis street location; however the customer service was A+.

Yelp
I have never in my life used an ordering system that was more infuriating. The website doesn't load, freezes at random times, and makes it overall incredibly challenging to order. They are in desperate need of a different online ordering system, this one is awful. The music was really loud when we were there as well, which was frustrating for me. I had my noise cancelling headphones on and could still hear the music in detail. The plus is that it does look out over the tarmac, and I love watching the planes land and take off. Service wasn't great, everything felt like an afterthought. And the portions (especially for the price) were pretty disappointing, and the food was overall bland. If you're at IAH, skip this and go to Starbucks instead.

Yelp
The fried chicken wings are really good. They were seasoned and cooked to my liking. This is a can't miss. The server rashaad was excellent. They were very attentive

Yelp
3.2* It was totally unexpected to see a location in the airport. But it was decent for airport choices. Flavorful for sure, but the waffle could have been alil softer & the chicken could have been a lil on the lighter side (golden brown preferred).. Staff was just getting started for the morning shift. Everyone stayed in the back, but someone came out to take my order promptly. Food came out fairly quickly. I am not, but if u are in favor of scanning a QR code, that's also an option. The restaurant space looked nice & clean. I'd probably try the actual restaurant outside of the airport next go.

Yelp
Omg. How did I NOT know Breakfast Klub was at IAH airport. Clearly I never fly out of terminal A. As soon as I made it through security check, I looked up & bam there it was. I had to look at the menu to make sure this restaurant was truly the same well known Houston Breakfast Klub in Midtown that always has a line out the door. The katfish & grits and wings & waffles confirmed it. I absolutely wasn't hungry because I had a small breakfast at home but it's Breakfast Klub so how could I pass it. I ordered a side of French toast & side of grits. I had to order from the togo menu to get those to show on the menu. The QR code menu at the table did not display those as an ala cart option. I paid as much as a ordering a menu platter but I got exactly what I wanted. Can I say my taste buds were doing the happy dance!! That French toast had me doing my "yum yum" hum (only happens when the food is oh so right!). It was buttery & I didn't add any extra butter & just the right consistency not too hard, not too soft, not to thick, not too eggy. Omg. It was just darn good!! I wasn't going to eat it all since I had already eaten but you cant save French toast so I killed it all! Grits were good also but the French toast was just perfect for my liking. I haven't been to the original Breakfast Klub location in so long. It's nice to know the food is still on point & I can get it at the airport. My experience was a togo order. It came out quickly in a nice sturdy box. The box stayed in tact even with syrup in it. This location has a decent size sit down eating area, self serve ordering from a QR code (but a server delivers food to table), and a full bar. If you find yourself in terminal A (on the lower number A gates side) & have the time, pop in & treat yourself.

Yelp
My wife and I got scolded for moving to a booth from the table next door. Apparently it's not allowed to move to another seat.

Yelp
Airport food is somethings hit or miss. My visit to The Breakfast Kline exceeded all of my expectations. The food was solid. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and breakfast potatoes. Very good and hearty to sustain you before your flight. It's a casual laidback atmosphere. Carlos was great! Amazing sense of humor. I love how you can scan a QR code to plodder and pay. Low maintenance and good quality. It didn't take long for the food to be served. Overall good place to eat in your waiting on a light.
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
Do not go here under any circumstances. Great staff but your limit is two BEERs. Two. So much for killing time before the flight.
google avatar

Scott G.

Yelp
I got the wings and waffle. The view was good overlooking the planes. The service was very good. The food was just ok. Nothing bad, but nothing memorable.
google avatar

Catherine M.

Yelp
Visually pleasing . That's about it. Bland food, gave us the worse stomach ache before a flight . Waiting a very long time to even be acknowledged and given a menu, service was not friendly or attentive . Wouldn't come back
google avatar

Markeda P.

Yelp
Although there was a long line, it went pretty fast. The food and service were good. You get a pretty decent portion of food and I guarantee you will get full quick. We tried the house margarita and it was okay. I think it's a nice spot to try and I will return if I'm in town.

Yelp
Super unimpressed. And I normally do not give harsh reviews, but here we go. First, the good. Despite the fact that this place has jumped on board with the whole scam-your-menu and have-minimal-communication-with-your-server bandwagon, I still had a tentative waitress who came to check on me multiple times, including at the beginning to ensure I knew how to use the QR code and digital ordering platform. I'm sorry, I just don't get the need for getting rid of the human interaction experience that people used to be excited about when going out to eat. But the three stars is for my waitress, who was awesome. Now, there has been somewhat of a movement that I have noticed, when it comes to airport restaurants and them upping their game. Which I have always appreciated, since airport food is so expensive. So, with that in mind, the food at this place did not help to earn any stars. The burger I ordered did not come as described, not even having the listed special ketchup, and having no sauce at all, which made it dry. The burger was also overcooked, and to tell you the truth, I am pretty sure it was made before hand to save on time and just left under a heat lamp until someone ordered. The stale bun and rubbery burger and cheese sure made it feel this way at least. As far as ambience, it was an airport restaurant - not that this means they can't try. I did appreciate the big windows so I could watch people come and go on their planes. I like doing this, like to imagine who might be coming and going and why. So, that's what have for this one. Felt it was kind of a let down for the price and the whole order through an app trend. Wouldn't be my first choice in the food court if I'm ever laid over here again. I'm full though.
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
This place was good!!!! Waited in line to get in but the lady working the line was funny!! I had the green eggs and ham with cheese grits and toast!! It was delicious! Hubby had chicken and waffles. Let me tell you that chicken was seasoned so well and fried perfect. My daughter had the catfish and grits and it was wonderful- all of it is a 9/10!! Will we go back- yes in a heart beat!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I just have some time I needed to get something in my system. The first thing you see when you walk through the A gate area is the breakfast klub. . As soon as I got to the counter depressed with his shoulders nice and really fast. About 5 or 10 minutes which is okay. But I have no points. If you come during the reasonable hour, they have a full bar for you as well. I Got a breakfast sandwich. Something quick that I can walk with. I got to croissant breakfast sandwich. It was okay, it was pretty full and fit, the cheese ready with a melted at all but nothing that was pretty okay.

Yelp
Whaaatt? Breakfast Klub in the airport? Makes me want to fly more. And I don't gotta pay those pesky midtown street parking fees. BLT was expensive but stacked with bacon. And the wings were crispy and delicious. Was almost late for my flight enjoying breakfast which I usually skip but not today!
google avatar

Gerald P.

Yelp
I was in terminal A on 10/9/24 for breakfast and I was very satisfied with the food and service. It was a pleasant experience. I would recommend if you want to enjoy a good breakfast.
google avatar

Christopher T.

Yelp
Something nice to get the morning started. Heading to NOLO and didn't want to start the day off on an empty stomach. Yes, I did find myself at another restaurant that didn't have a vegan menu , although you don't have to leave unhappy, unless you just don't ask. So, a warm bowl of grits and potatoes, did the job for me, especially after making it through airport security. (Whew!) On to the next one, Bye-Bye!

Yelp
We had about 1 1/2 hours before connecting to our next flight in IAH so we decided to try and grab a quick bite before boarding. We came into Terminal C which has plenty of options so our expectations were higher than they should have been as we headed to Terminal A. Unfortunately, Terminal A's options are somewhat imited with only Starbucks, a few fast food options and The Breakfast Klub. We didn't want breakfast, but they had a full bar so we decided to have a drink and see what else they may have. We grabbed a seat at the bar and were promptly greeted by Tiffany. I'll start with service - Tiffany was a hoot. She had a great sense of humor and is a large part of the reason for my rating going from 3 (good) to a solid 4. This is your typical airport stop - wide open with tables (you seat yourself), in this case a fairly large bar and plenty of people watching. We perused both the food and drink options and decided to keep it simple with a glass of wine. Food options ranged from breakfast to burger and sandwiches to wings with various accompaniments (grits, fries, waffles). There's were really no snack options on the menu. However, Tiffany mentioned the wings were available ala carte. She also explained they were breaded, fried and served with hot sauce on the side. We decided to go with just the wings. My expectations were not high as I typically prefer my wings without the breading as I find many places serve them greasy. Not so here. We received six very meaty wings, three flappers and three drums. This was perfect as I prefer drums while my husband prefers flappers. The breading was quite flavorful. So happy they seasoned them up. They were not the least bit greasy. The fryer must have been at just the right temperature because they were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. I asked for a side of ranch with mine for dipping which was promptly delivered. Overall a very satisfying snack. Thanks to Tiffany, our layover at IAH breezed on by and before we knew it we were on the plane headed to Boise. I can certainly recommend stopping in The Breakfast Klub if you have time for a snack and a drink while waiting for your flight.

Yelp
I have been to this location many times in the airport. I usually go because it's very open and close to the gates. It has a pretty upbeat vibe. However I was traveling in Saturday, I stopped in and ordered my usual Bloody Mary ,spicy. The drink was good and everything seemed fine. The bartender gave me a handheld card scanner and I paid for my drink and left. They even said bye to me. I went to my gate and was sitting there about ten minutes and here comes this waitress saying very loud I didn't pay. I said yes I did, she told me I needed to come with her to pay my bill. The whole thing was very embarrassing! I walk back with her and on the way she is telling me that the bartender is new so she was supposed to wait did the machine. I told her I paid 25.00 already. The bartender said no I owe 50.00. I show them the 25.00 came out my account. They said it will fall off. needless to say I am no in another city and have two charges for a Bloody Mary on my card for almost 80.00.I have tried calling and no one answers. I have emailed the customer service and no response. Someone just refund all my money at this point.

Hattia C.

Yelp
I just want this establishment to aware that the bar tender Eric has the worse service ever. I sat down at the bar with the intention of enjoying The Breakfast Klub. That didn't happen. Eric, placed two menu on the bar and i told him i just wanted eggs, grits and i also asked about the different types of bacon ( pork/turkey). As i was thinking of what i wanted, a Caucasian guy sat at the bar and Eric immediately left from servicing me to service the other guy. I'm a server at a bar in Atlanta and Baltimore. I would have never done that to my customer no matter what! It's not about money, it's about the impression that you leave on a customer.

Yelp
The line you see wrapping around the building is for a reason. The staff is always so sweet and caring. Then food is to die for. The chicken and waffles was all I ever craved during my pregnancy. The wait is worth it. I will always go back for more. This is restaurant is a staple in our family life.

Yelp
Experience 2/5: The experience at the IAH Terminal A location is not a reflection of the main Breakfast Klub location in Houston, TX. 3711 Travis St, Houston, TX 77002 does it the right way. Upon entry of the IAH location in Terminal, there were several dirty, unoccupied tables. Luckily I had a sanitized wipe from the previous flight. The Breakfast Klub is usually a well-managed establishment with very kind employees, but this location performed less than stellar. Food 2/5: I ordered the chicken wings and waffle, which the entree they're most famous for. The chicken was as tasty as always, but the waffle was very soggy. Not sure if was premade or if it was under a heat lamp for awhile, but that was very unusual. The lemonade is really good here but the waitress didn't refill drinks until after we finished eating.

Yelp
I used to love this place before I went Vegan, but my family still does. My family was able to eat but they have no vegan options at all! Not even oatmeal lol so the menu in my opinion is not very dietary inclusive. But the people were nice.

Sandra S.

Yelp
If it was good, the service was good The line was long, but like I said before the food was excellent. The people were nice and friendly and I came from out of town from Michigan and I will go back again. They should succeed in their business if they keep this up.

N K.

Yelp
This was my first time here, fam shared this is a must place if I come down for a visit. And it did not disappoint. We went on a Friday afternoon, the place had a line outside past the bldg. And everyone in line was determined to wait. There was a server that passed through the line to share the menu QR Code and explain the order process. It was about a 40 minute wait in the line, thankfully the weather was decent, morning rain had stopped and a decent breeze. The people taking orders were efficient, friendly and had a good pace to keep everything going. It was a group of 4 and everyone ENJOYED their meal. When in the Houston area this worth the visit. I got the French Toast added whipped cream and strawberries with chicken . This toast was perfect, not a soggy middle even with the added whipped cream. And the fried chicken has really good seasoning and flavor. Two in the group got Panckes with chicken and shared Cheese grits and bacon. And the other family got Catfish & Grits with potatoes. Great meal and love the atmosphere with the Black art and music.

Yelp
For a place with "breakfast" in the name, they should be ashamed. Their omelette was bland and the potatoes were so full of pepper, they were inedible. I asked for salsa instead of ketchup as a condiment and was told that was all they had. You pay ahead, so the server has no incentive to check back on you, so I never saw her again after my food was dropped off. Skip this place and find something else.
google avatar

Jana J.

Yelp
Not bad for an airport brunch, but it's nothing special. Texture of the waffle was great.

Hans D.

Yelp
In town from Washington, DC. This place lives up to its considerable reputation. Food is excellent. But the service is like the old days - staff makes sure you are happy. Really enjoyed it. Catfish and grits was excellent and huge portion.
google avatar

Bella C.

Yelp
It took 10 minutes at like 6 something AM to get this beautiful meal! Chicken slapped harder than it normally does at the brick and mortar restaurant, pecan waffle was decadent. The best airport meal you can get and that's from a frequent flyer.

Yelp
Breakfast special was cooked perfectly. Fast friendly service and the place was spotlessly clean.

Yelp
If you have a few extra bucks and time to spend perhaps during a layover or etc. make your way over to The Breakfast Klub! I will preface this right now by saying that I have NOTHING to compare it to, as I see a few reviews on here saying it is not like the original. However the times that I went the food was flavorful, without being overkill (like at some 'soul food' spots I've been to that offer heart attacks on a plate no shade) so I liked it. Cold beverages, amazing portions and just good vibes all around. The servers were all so friendly and looked like they loved being there and interacting with patrons. Some of the food granted is expensive ($19 for a sunrise mimosa?) but find something cheaper to enjoy and you'll be alright. I enjoyed my bacon and eggs, and then post half marathon huge salad. I had to bring the salad home but it was loaded with lots of protein - and the grilled chicken was wonderful. It's in a great location too in Terminal A in the middle of everything and Starbucks next door. I am more than sure the original location in Houston is better but I was happy to see this place when I landed because I had heard about the line that wraps around the building. This was probably one of the most memorable moments on my trip and I was AT THE AIRPORT. I'll be back for sure!! Til next time, TBK!

Yelp
A good airport bar with excellent breakfast food. I ordered the meaty three meat omelette & it came out in a reasonable time & it was hot & delectable! Servers & bartenders were quick & kind so I would definitely get some airport food & booze here again.

Yelp
The coffee was not that good, but for airport food, the chicken and waffles were delicious. They were also very filing and I would definitely recommend them. Did not try any other items. My husband ordered the same and he loved his as well.

Yelp
Food was good .. had a long line but it went fast . Customer service was great . If u see a line go ahead and stand in it you won't be disappointed and you won't stand long .

Yelp
Ate at the restaurant location so prices were a bit elevated. You order and pay via the web so server not very attentive. Very simple but tasty breakfast. Pancakes were good. Bacon and eggs cooked well.

Yelp
I know it's touristy but I just moved to Houston and had to try it for myself and loved it!

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised. I ordered the club and it was very tasty! The service was so fast! For how busy this area was I was shocked on how fast I got my food.
