Where To Drink When You Book The Job

"Located in the heart of theater row on Santa Monica Blvd. is Broadwater Plunge. This bar (inside of a building that houses four other theaters) is basically there to get local actors as drunk as possible. After letting it slip at rehearsal that you booked a small role in Fast and The Furious 93, the entire cast has rallied and now there’s a whole line of tequila shots waiting for you at the bar. Godspeed." - brant cox

Explore The Broadwater, Actor Patrick Duffy’s New Hollywood Bar Hang - Eater LA

"Patrick Duffy, his son Padraic Duffy, and Padraic’s wife Emily Kosloski are opening The Broadwater Plunge, a new corner bar with warehouse vibes attached to The Broadwater Theater. The bar features a tight cocktail menu and an array of spirits options. Designed by Greg Swanson, the stained-glass, red leather banquette-bound space reflects the elder Duffy’s parent's bar in Montana. The bar officially opens tomorrow night with specific hours on different days." - Farley Elliott

‘Dallas’ Actor Patrick Duffy Will Open a Bar Inside This Hollywood Theater - Eater LA

"A forthcoming bar inside Hollywood’s Broadwater Theater, the Broadwater Plunge is created by actor Patrick Duffy, his son Padraic Duffy, and Padraic’s wife Emily Kosloski. It aims to serve drinks to theatergoers and thirsty travelers. The 900 square foot bar is designed to appeal to those who appreciate the theater, described as a community space where LA’s live-theater lovers can gather, brainstorm ideas, run lines, unwind after a performance, or just take comfort in being among like-minded people. The bar’s design comes from Greg Swanson, known for his work at The LINE Hotel and Clifton’s Cafeteria. The model is similar to the iO West’s bar-theater, a defunct Hollywood theater that had a full bar accessible during performances." - Mona Holmes

Google
Amazing atmosphere, and very convent location. However if you walk in with an *empty* water bottle in your back pocket right after a play next door the security will all but tackle you to get it from you, while being a total dick about it. He loved feeling like a big boy I bet. The bartender is pretty cool though. Definitely come here, but beware on bringing in anything plastic, pretty sure the door guard is a paper only guy.

Google
Popped in for a quick drink before a show down the street. The bar is small but comfy, and by the time we were getting ready to leave, it was filling up with people. We overheard a conversation two people were having about needing writers for a project, which prompted us to look into Broadwater further. We were delighted to learn the history of the random place we had chosen. We ordered 2 old-fashioneds that were kinda pricey, but they were probably the best we've ever had! What made them so perfect was they weren't too sweet and had the perfect balance of flavors! We aren't in the area often, but we fully plan to visit this great bar again and possibly a show as they have a couple of stages connected to the space.

Google
Bruno was a lovely bartender. This spot is really good happy vibes. Love seeing people coming out/heading to a good ol blackbox show

Google
Jp took the best care of me, you’d be so lucky. Jake has often curated a magical night in this great atmosphere. Whether you love theater or just want to feel like you’re in a cozy speakeasy library without needing to know a thing about staging, the Plunge is a place to dunk yourself into for a wholesome liquored night.

Google
If you're looking for a bar with low lights and loud music, this is not it. But if you want a cool, artsy place in Hollywood with great cocktails and a chill vibe, give it a try. It's attached to a live theater complex so you can even make a full evening out of it.

Google
Drinks are great, the bartenders although very busy took time to smile and have a small conversation with me. All staff are really friendly and approachable. Great crowd, friendly.

Google
This is a cute, quiet lil bar next to the Sacred Fools Theater. Ask the bartender what the theater 🎭 signature drink is. The Rose 🌹 is delicious!

Google
Great bartenders, cool space. Can get noisy but, hey, it's a bar, right? Only drawback is it closes at 12:00 am.

Yelp
Came here for a couple of drinks before a show. on the smaller side of bars that ive visited. it has its old charm and prices seem reasonable. they have a wall where they showcase all the events that are in the area and then some. bathrooms are spacious and clean. bar tenders were fast giving the short time restriction you get between intermissions. they have courtesy water at the end of the bar.

Yelp
The Plunge was a pleasant discovery after I saw a play on the Broadwater main stage. It's a small space that gets cramped when people pack in after curtain call, but it's worth popping in for a cocktail to talk about the show with your companions - and possibly with the actors themselves. I loved the classy, Old Hollywood aesthetic, and I didn't mind the classic cocktail menu (no cutesy-named, experimental drinks). I had a Manhattan, breathtakingly strong, served in a coupe glass. The prices weren't outrageous and the bartenders were pleasant. I was absolutely delighted to discover shelves of stageplays that one can flip through whilst enjoying their drink. For this playwright and erstwhile theatre actor, the Plunge is a perfect spot.

Yelp
The experience at the Broadwater Theatre in Hollywood is vibrant and intimate, with high-quality performances in a cozy setting. The adjacent bar adds a lively touch, offering a perfect spot to unwind before or after the show, enhancing the overall evening with its relaxed atmosphere and easy access. I really enjoyed the Mexican mule this evening, the perfect drink before the show!

Yelp
I thought for a moment this would be the neighborhood dive bar on a corner, but it's not. The interior is very old school and they have old films playing on the back wall which is a plus for silent entertainment. The prices are reasonable but too bad they don't have at least one beer on tap. The sole bartender was very nice and served with a smile.

Yelp
Cool vibe and the bartender was great. Very knowledgable. Happy hour on Fridays only.

Yelp
This is the coolest post (or pre depending on the time of the show) bar! From the aesthetic alone to the cocktail varieties to the general varieties it rocks! Bartender is always, very attentive and thorough. The plunge is definitely worth a try if you're in the area for Theatre, or just in the area in general. It won't disappoint.

Victoria K.

Yelp
The water here is available at the bar and it comes in a small glass. It is cool and without ice.

Yelp
A great hang on a weekend night! Amazing bartending staff, cozy space and an all around good vibe

Yelp
Chill hole in the wall spot, great drinks, and great service. Definitely worth checking out after work or if you're in the area

Yelp
awful inexcusable blatant racism, rudeness, also they couldn't take credit cards when really should've been comped after dealing with a racist bartender! Worst bar experi of my lentire life and I'm 47! Do not support this bar!

Yelp
We were positively giddy about being able to attend live theater again after the plague, and the production that we saw at one of the theaters in the back of the place was invigoratingly inventive. Afterwards we definitely needed to wind down and the bar was the perfect place. The bartender worked his way through the after play crowd quickly and efficiently and made a fine drink when he got to us. I had to explain what a Champagne Cocktail was but he did a very nice job of it. We also got to try a very nice Japanese Scotch, one of three that they stock. All-in-all a very pleasant night out, would highly recommend.

Yelp
Went over to this area to see a Fringe show and stopped in at this bar. What a cute little place. They had a large screen tv, small seating area and several seats at the bar. I took a seat at the bar and honed in on the bourbons/whiskeys and saw A Midwinters Night Dram. The bartender, Jacob said it was a special seasonal batch, which would explain the price tag. Ok, I had to try it, and it was awesome. Jacob was super friendly and helpful with the info. I sure wish I lived closer, this would be a fun hang out.

Yelp
Cool looking bar, wide cocktail menu, higher end booze. Classy place. Nice place for a first date drink and meet. Not too huge of a place either and next to the theater. Plenty of street parking in the area

Yelp
Went to this bar to celebrate after an evening of theater. You don't notice these places until nighttime when it's lit up. We parked several blocks away and walked here. Very busy area. We walked in and it was quite crowded. I could not really see what the venue looked like due to the number of people but it seemed like it was popping! Maybe one day I will be able to make it back to this place.

Ernesto A.

Yelp
This a great little spot, the bartenders make delicious cocktails and it's worth it. It's a chill spot to hangout for locals. Not my type of bar when the theater people show up but still nice on random days
google avatar

Brian F.

Yelp
Quite unspectacular offerings and prices at this joint - mediocre selection, wines, roses, champagnes, and ales, and the latter out of a can instead of on tap. But the atmosphere is delightful, like a real British pub, and they project a fire on the wall, which is cute, and they have brick, and they thankfully enforce mask and vaccine mandates. So a good hang that's not too loud and not too divey.
google avatar

Catherine Y.

Yelp
Checked out this bar with a friend before seeing a show at The Pack Theater. The ambiance is pretty casual, although not quite as far as divey. In comparison the bar is extremely nice. Lots of different bottles displayed and a planter growing herbs for their drinks which I thought was really cool. They have a pretty extensive menu with a lot of specialty cocktails given their full bar. I just happened to go on May 4 and they had a whole menu of Star Wars cocktails available as well. Unless you're just getting a beer, the drinks can get pretty pricy, over $10 but they are well-made cocktails. I went on a Saturday night around 10 so it got quite lively but not too crazy. It's more of a bar to talk and hang out rather than to party. I think most people were like me, just grabbing a drink with friends before or after a show. Although it got quite loud I was still able to hold a conversation with a friend without having to yell.

Yelp
Love the plunge so much. Warm and wonderful service and they have a wall full of plays to Peruse pre or post show. Such a vibe. So fun.

Sam F.

Yelp
Loved this place so much I almost don't want to hype it up! Super chill, friendly atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Hoping to make this a regular place for myself :)
google avatar

Yelp
What a hole in the wall. Came here a few days before Christmas and everything from the ambiance to the cocktails and service were perfect. Decent prices, too, so you don't have to sell any organs to afford your alcoholism! It's a little small but I think it makes the entire experience intimate. Will return !

Yelp
Okay, here's my deal with PLUNGE... PRO - Atmosphere. It feels like a New York bar in the middle of hollywood. CON - There are theatres in the same building as the bar so it can get INSANELY crowded before and/or after a show. I've had to body check a few bitches from my bag. PRO - The quality of the shows at these theatres are... quality! So have a drink and check stuff out. CON - Drinks could be cheaper. But drinks could always be cheaper, couldn't they? PRO - You can eat food in there!!! But just not at the actual bar. CON - It can sometimes take a while to get the bartender's attention even when it's not that crowded. They look insanely busy most of the time. So forget it if it's busy. PRO - Staff is really friendly when you CAN get their attention. CON - I think sometimes (or all the time) there's a piano there, but nobody plays it... seems like a wasted opportunity. PRO - They come up with a clever new drink whenever the theatres are doing a new show. SCORES: Environment - 4 Staff - 4 Drinks - 4 Overall - 4 out of 5!!!

Yelp
Nice little spot with a dash of class. They also have a happy hour that is really good to grab drinks for an evening out or a pre game to something else. I will say at times the bar can get busy and sometimes the bartenders take awhile to get to you. However, there is this wonderful lady bartender..she is attentive and great at making drinks for you. I would say give this spot of try. They have self serving water for you to enjoy if you need some hydration, they also have a doorman that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.. LISTEN, I am delicate... I need to feel protected and safe! If you like a place that has great prices for drinks, a nice decor, great staff, and a friendly vibe... THIS IS YOUR PLACE!

Yelp
Bar itself is cute, friendly with pretty welcoming vibes (at first)! Not pretentious. Old timey decor vibes but they were playing 90's r&b. I like 90's r&b so I didn't mind but it did seem like a bit of a mismatch. Bartender was lovely, friendly, attentive and her cocktails were great! Why am I giving this place 3 stars? They have a problem with PDA here. Between sips of our drinks my date and I kissed a few times. Even after 2 drinks, I'm pretty self aware, and I really don't think we were being over-the-top. Apparently we offended the security of the establishment so much that he asked us to close out and stood over us until we left. It was pretty condescending and humiliating. Sadly I won't be coming back. Come here with someone you don't like because this bar has a no kissing allowed policy!

Yelp
NEW FAVORITE! I just moved to the area, and this was the first bar I checked out. Really good atmosphere, (original buildings brick walls, ceiling beams, intact etc) with incredibly friendly staff. Went in on a Wednesday night, and I had great convos with the bar owner, bartender, and security guard, all of whom were very invested in the bar's origins (the owner is a FIFTH generation bar owner!!!). Another a fun fact; there are FOUR theatres surrounding the bar - so it's a great place to see a live show, then hang after and meet the talent. Great people run this place, you'd would be doing yourself a disservice to not check it out!

Yelp
I recently had the chance to host a private event at the plunge this last tues and I was extremely happy. The staff was fantastic. The bartenders were fast and fun, making chit chat with the guests and they kept the drinks flowing. Big shout out goes to Isaac the doorman who assisted in setting everything up even though it really wasn't his job. He also greeted all the guests warmly and professionally and helped set the fun tone. Padraic the manager also deserves a lot of love as he helped us a lot and answered all of our questions. Most of all he made the end of the night close out super easy, and went through all the financial stuff with patience and clarity. If you're looking for a fun night out, goto the plunge. They're fantastic!

Yelp
Great addition to the area. Great cocktails and friendly staff. Just opened a few nights ago.
google avatar

Claire D.

Yelp
Looks like a cool spot but the theater and the bar need to communicate about which is which. When the spot was owned by Sacred Fools, the bar area was how you waited for shows. I walked in accidentally to the bar and the bouncer was aggressive about my ID and I asked if the Id was also for the show and he blinked like I was an idiot and goes "No...you're in a bar." Seeing that I had eyes I told him I was able to perceive my surroundings, I just didn't know the check in process. Besides, my eventbrite mentioned the bar. The theater and the bar need to have better signage. Mansplainy!

Charles K.

Yelp
Nice pub atmosphere. Jake the barman very helpful with local restaurants and points of interest - also a very professional drink mixer!
google avatar

Kris T.

Yelp
Awesome security. Super cool bartenders. Great location. Have a drink after a show here.
google avatar

Bryan K.

Yelp
Perhaps the nicest staff in Hollywood, the bartenders and especially the security are as nice and polite as they come. They add to the wonderful experience you get there. If anyone had an issue with this staff, they must have been rude cause these bartenders/security are the nicest around. Great cocktails, wonderful atmosphere and on the corner by 4 theaters. Happy Hour until 7pm everyday. It's becoming a neighborhood and theater row favorite!
google avatar

Joe H.

Yelp
I really love this new addition to the Hollywood bar scene. I enjoy Three Clubs a lot but it can tend to get loud, especially on the weekends. This spot has a much much friendlier/family vibe. I always say that businesses always comes down to the owner. The owner establishes the vibe. And the owner of the Plunge is always present and incredibly friendly. I found out that his grandparents owned a bar in Montana and some of the woodwork in this bar are the original pieces from his grandparents' bar. That's too cool. The bartenders are all friendly, experienced, making great drink. Great spot and great prices. Perfect spot to go before or after seeing a movie or play on theater row.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
My closest neighborhood bar. Literally only a few blocks away from where I live. Friendly staff, great beer and cool ambiance. Can't ask for more!
google avatar

Carlos G.

Yelp
Would give this place a 5 star but the best bartender Damien no longer serves up in this place. Other than that this place is dope. Nice environment and great atmosphere.
google avatar

Christy S.

Yelp
A really nice bar with friendly people. Still up and coming so not too busy, this place is gonna explode in a couple years.
google avatar

Rick S.

Yelp
If i am ever in Los Angeles I find this a relaxing place to grab a glass of wine or beer.
google avatar

Ak G.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and came recently on a Sunday night. It wasn't that busy from the last time I was there. I really like the vibe here. Its really chill and the people working here were super friendly too. I got a beer and it was decently priced. Its kind of small on the inside but its a nice little place to get drinks with a friend.

Dusty S.

Yelp
Perfect little spot to grab a cocktail at before your show. Good music and nice bartenders. If it were closer to me it would be my go to spot.
google avatar

Dana C.

Yelp
wonderful experience. people are nice and the place is pleasantly cozy. will be coming back again. thumbs up.

Bree P.

Yelp
Spent the afternoon here with some friends today. The interior is classic and clean, the bar is well-appointed and organized. The bartender Jacob was knowledgeable and friendly and all his drinks were fantastic. They even let us order food and have it delivered to the bar! The owner was there and was so friendly and really made us feel welcome! I'm so delighted this bar is part of a theater! What a wonderful addition to theater row! Welcome Broadwater Plunge!

Ellsbeth C.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this cozy bar and loved it. It's family run with great cocktails and a neighborhood vibe. The music is really terrific and there are plays on the bookshelves you can read if you want. It's connected to four theaters if you feel like popping in to see a play. I'm glad there's finally a bar like this in that area.
