The Bun Hut Review - Lower East Side - New York - The Infatuation

"Editor's Note: Bun Hut is temporarily closed while they move to a new location 2020 is getting, among other things, old. You’ve developed a rotation of takeout spots, scribbled the same recurring thoughts in your “worry journal,” and consistently texted the same four friends and neglected to respond when they text back. Of course, you could adopt a short-haired cat named Tomato to snap yourself out of the routine. But then you’d have to take care of a short-haired cat named Tomato. If you’re looking for something to get you out of a funk, we have a better idea. Order dinner from a new spot on the Lower East Side called The Bun Hut. Most of The Bun Hut’s menu incorporates Jamaican, West Indian, and Bahamian dishes, like sticky jerk chicken, braised curry goat, and coconut shrimp. But the difference between Bun Hut and your neighborhood jerk chicken spot is that you can try nearly everything in the form of a steamed bao or a massive roti. photo credit: Teddy Wolff The takeout baos come disassembled, so you get to create your own pocket of lightly-fried butterflied shrimp with a squeeze of lime and a swipe of mango chutney. The roti, which is possibly larger than a brick, comes assembled. We especially like the one with coconut curry chicken. It’s filled with enough contrasting textures to warrant a reality show where they all live in a house together. The creamy curry-bathed chicken would be the ring leader, even though the chunks of sweet fried plantains will be the crowd favorite, and the cold, pickled mango and corn salad would say some sh*t to rile everyone else up. We’d happily watch reruns of this roti show on MTV2 at 3am, and you should too. The Bun Hut is accepting takeout and delivery through their website. There isn’t currently any outdoor dining available, but if you go to pick up your order, you’ll catch a glimpse of the colorful murals, open kitchen with onlooking bar stools, and big leather banquette that wraps around the front of the restaurant. There is no alcohol for takeout yet (they do have drinks like cassava punch and hibiscus lemonade), but we hope to drink something with rum and a lot of crushed ice in their dining room one day in the not too distant future. If you do decide to adopt a short-haired cat named Tomato to make your life more exciting, just remember that it’ll never feed you coconut shrimp bao like The Bun Hut will. Plus, cats aren’t as thrilling as shrimp anyway. Food Rundown photo credit: Teddy Wolff Oxtail Bao Each bao order comes with two pieces, and you’re not going to want to share. The rich, stewed oxtail meat has more depth than any conversation you’ve had in the past five months with a coworker. Plus, it comes with sour, pickled onions on top that look like little pink halos. photo credit: Teddy Wolff Bahamian Coconut Shrimp Bao Even though the fried batter on the shrimp is almost all coconut flakes, it still tastes perfectly savory (instead of acting as a seafood dessert, like some coconut shrimp). Use a hearty splash of the spicy, golden mango chutney that comes on the side when you compile your bao, and a little bit of the craisin-filled cole slaw for texture contrast and crunch. photo credit: Teddy Wolff Sweet & Savory Crab Cake Bao This breaded crab cake bao could easily steal the show at a porch party in Maryland. It has pure crab flavor, with just a bit of acidity from the chunky mango and onion salsa. photo credit: Teddy Wolff Coconut Curry Chicken Roti The baos work as ideal snacks or appetizers, but the rotis at Bun Hot are no-bullsht meals. If you finish both halves of the wrap, you’re going to have to retire for at least six to ten hours. This one is creamy, subtly spicy, and filled with hunks of sweet plantains and julienned carrots. Curry Goat Roti Aside from the braised goat itself, our favorite thing about this roti is the hidden potato bites. They soak up all of the stewed, cinnamon-y-sour flavors of the goat stew. You’ll end up picking them out like they’re quarters in your wallet. Just be careful when you bite into it as there are goat bones around. Your dentist doesn’t like seeing you either. photo credit: Teddy Wolff Bahamian Rum Pound Cake Imagine if a gooey, yellow cake got extremely wasted and topped itself with walnuts as a party trick. OK now stop imagining, and try this boozy cake for yourself. It’s incredible. Note that your takeout cake (unfortunately) will not come with a side of rum." - Hannah Albertine

Very comfortable local coffee ☕ and Tea shop close to midtown University of Maryland Midtown Medical Campus. The street is a business district street. 3 mins from John Hopkins Medical Campus. MICA is 2 minutes away. The location looks historical inside with an original glass case and some very old antique metal tables. Black colored walls and ceiling for a comfortable and dark mood, comfortable study location. It's not dirty. It's just antique and old for people that don't understand how glass gets after 50+ years. The hot chocolate 🍫 was tasty and did not have that syrup or powder flavor of Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. They offer different kinds of milk if that is your preference. Their music was tasteful and light jazz and not blasting. Conducive to good studying without blasting music like Starbucks which I hate. Minimal power. A few power banks strips all over the floor. Slight trip hazard so please be careful. Customers were a mix of students and older folks studying or just relaxing and reading. Mostly students studying quietly and not loud if they were in a group. Restrooms in the rear. Overall, a good place that is open late. I'm not sure what the sister was talking about racism below. I think it has more to do with your attitude and how you communicate here from my own experience. The gentleman with tattoos serving me greeted me and was professional. Who needs more than that? Hot cocoa was about $4.50 I believe. Not bad. Businesses don't run on air.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The place's atmosphere is a fun and neat concept. But the interior when we got there just seemed very dirty and unwell kept. I get the idea its suppose to be grungy and artsy but it just feel like they are just being lazy at the same time. The coffee was descent, the cinnamon roll was good, and the service was decent as well but not overwhelming.

The Bun Shop has a unique atmosphere that feels like a blend of Edgar Allan Poe and industrial chic—dark, moody, and a little mysterious, yet still cozy in its own way. It’s the kind of place where people gather to chat, read, or work quietly on laptops. There’s plenty of seating, and the fact that they’re open until 3 AM makes it an incredible spot for late-night studying or working when everywhere else is closed. They offer a variety of coffee and tea drinks (menu photos attached), but I came specifically to try the buns. I visited after dinner and there were eight bun options still available. I asked about sweet ones, and they let me know the Apple Turnover and the Roti Boy were the only sweet(ish) ones left. I went with their signature Roti Boy, which was a soft, buttery bun topped with a light espresso-flavored craquelin. It wasn’t overly sweet—not quite a dessert bun, but enjoyable if you’re into more subtle flavors. (A coffee-flavored cream-filled version would be a good option.) The bun was a little under $5 with tax. The savory buns mostly contained meat, so they’re not particularly vegetarian- or vegan-friendly based on what was available when I visited. That said, I’d be curious to come back during the day to see if there are more options, especially for those with dietary preferences. The staff was helpful and patient when answering questions about the menu. Overall, The Bun Shop is a cool, quiet, and distinctive place—perfect for a late-night bite or a long study session with some ambiance.

Google
Cool spot to hang. Bad coffee though and at the end of the day it’s a coffee shop 😂 *I drink coffee black so perhaps it’s bearable with milk and cream and sugar and the likes.

Google
Good drinks but an older shop that needs to be updated with seating, lighting and outlet stations. Also, outdoor seating would be a nicer feature. The couch in the coffee shop has been there for over 9 years. People in Baltimore deserve better. Its a dingy looking coffee shop with good coffee.

Google
Lived in Bmore for 2 years now and finally made my way here after recommendations. I wanted an evening iced coffee but it just didn’t taste good. Maybe because it’s an 8pm coffee and it’s late in the day, but I would’ve expected a cafe that stays open super late to have decent coffee at this hour. Friendly customer vibes, staff was kind. Just my first experience.

Google
Vintage unique cafe I had a matcha latte with almond milk. It was good :) Not sweet, not bitter either. The vibe is casual. I think it is a bit too dark to read books or work on something. This is more for hang out. They had a sofa to sit as well, which seems comfy. Their prices are around average. Unfortunately, they did not have the matcha bun when I went. Idk if they discontinued it or they sold all of it that day.

Google
Loved the atmosphere of this place. An ideal spot for studying, reading, or meeting friends! Definitely a quieter coffee shop than I’m used to. The chai latte lacked flavor, but I’m hopeful their loose teas will be good! I plan to visit again.

Yelp
The bun shop has *immaculate* WFH vibes. The baristas are talented, and food is always sure to be fresh! I love having this hidden gem in my backyard!

Yelp
ill make a condensed list of everything wrong with this place: 1. the place had a bunch of couches and fabric chairs with dark sweat stains? it looks like it's never been cleaned and im sure that if i swabbed it there would be a whole new ecosystem brewing up in there. 2. the big tables were sticky everywhere and i had to wipe them myself because the staff was outside busy passing a bong around. 2.5 the table emitted this potent stench of metal when i wiped it, gag inducing 3. the barista was rude for no reason, maybe they were having a bad day? i asked them to help me choose between a curry puff and a ham tart (?) and they just replied with "i dont eat meat, so i cant help you." okay.. 3.5 i chose the curry chickpea puff which was hard as a rock and gave my jaw a workout 4. the bathroom smelled worse than a porta potty on a cross country trail. i was scared to touch anything 5. the pastries were just left out on a rack with no covering with flies swarming around them 6. the sugar/cream self serve area definitely not food safe because the half and half was just out there on the counter for at least 6 hrs in 80F heat?

Yelp
Came late on a Friday night and the vibe was pretty confusing. I wasn't thrilled that it seemed to faintly smell of cigarettes when we walked in. Like that they have all the flyers for local arts events around town. The Nutella cookie that I had was pretty good, and it's nice that they warm it up. Better than that though was the lavender tea latte. Would definitely get that again, though probably to go.

Yelp
Laid back cafe, which actually offers unique pastries such as mac n cheese bread, Indian flavor bread, Pho inspired bread, etc. Coffee was great too.
google avatar

Jada G.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here a little too many times on our short trip to the city (to be fair, it was down the street from our hotel). While it's a touch too dark to feel overwhelming welcoming, the pastries and drinks hold up. The gothic interior was actually charming-- really brought me back to grandma's house, especially with the huge community tables and ancient furniture. One day they were a little understaffed so our drinks took forever, but the other days were fine and we felt the quality maintained. It's not the best coffee/tea/pastries ever, but the vibes absolutely pass the test.

Yelp
Bun, to me, still reminds of the early aughts when they opened or opined on a savory-dominated but sweet adjacent selection of pastries and roti and rolls--oh my! (And an array of caffeine drinks, natch!) Needed to be here tonight for some matcha tea, a cookie and some bop of Monk, Coltrane, Miles and others to calm that antsy feeling in the silence of students at laptops, the thrum of the night city and the occasional street stray jonesing for some change. The service is laid back and on point.

Yelp
I love that a place like this exists! A late night cafe is what every community needs :) This cafe is located on a little street decorated with hanging lights at night time. It has a real old timey charm about it, from the streets to the interior. The cafe has tons of seating and outlets. The service was great and very friendly. I ordered an iced Hong Kong and a rotiboy. The barista said they were out, so they had to get some from the other location earlier, and he said he could make me a fresh one. The Hong Kong was pretty good and nicely sweetened. Make sure to mix it up because I think I only tasted the espresso first then the tea. The fresh bread took about 15 mins and came out super warm. It was so nice of him to make a fresh one for me! If you do get a chance to try it warm, it's SO GOOD. Such a simple bread but it was super comforting. The crust on top is just a bit sweet and the bread is soft and chewy. I think it's a sweet bread but overall it leaned more neutral/salty. This would've been really good dunked in a hot beverage. I'd love to try the matcha one next time if they have it. If I was still a student, this would be the perfect spot for late night studying or just catching up with a friend.

Yelp
Love this little hidden gem. You can play games. You can study and get some of the best buns in the area! Location is tight sometimes for parking but worth it.

Yelp
I was a bit hesitant to come here because a friend of mine told me she had a worker be racist towards her. Still have it a try. Walking in, I noticed it was very quiet, kind of dark, gave off a vintage hippy vibe, and there was only one person working. He was nice and offered some recommendations. I was not in a rush so having one person working didn't bother me, however, it is inefficient to have one person working in the morning at a coffee shop. The menu is short and simple which I like because it's not overwhelming. They have savory and sweet buns which is also cool to appeal to the desires of everyone. The sweet bun I got was an apple one and it was really good. It was warm, soft, sweet, and had the right amount of apples and cinnamon. The coffee was average. It was not bad by all means, but it was also not the best. I would only come back for the buns but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Yelp
OMG. It was 12 midnight when I typed in coffee and I was shock to see that this place was open tell 3am, it was 30walk away, I just had to see it for my self. The atmosphere is so relaxing The employees are really friendly Many options to choose from I know where I'm grabbing late coffee

Yelp
Ok- I am officially 50ish and lived through a series or two of BMF . That being said, when I walked through those Bun Shop doors I immediately thought I made a wrong turn and was now in a crack house! But instantly I realized it was 2023 and this is an Internet cafe and these are not zombies! These are really intelligent, vibrant people with important things to do on their laptops! It got even better because the barista/ cashier was nice and patient because it takes me at least 5 minutes to double click and authorize my Apple Pay. OMG- I'm officially my mom! The chocolate viet coffee was aau-ight. The ginger roti bun was really good and the customer service and quiet atmosphere was top notch!
google avatar

Ruby G.

Yelp
Has potential. The yelp reviews were very encouraging but the reality was disappointing. You walk into a large space which very dark and dirty. I came in around 8:30 AM and it was dead silent, there were no customers and no one working behind the counter... thought it was closed. The floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a while. The supposed "vintage" furniture is also very run down and is not well taken care of. The wifi is spotty. The latte was average-slightly average. The breakfast bun pastry itself was awesome but the contents tasted foul, like they used expired ingredients.... I will not be returning and recommend checking out another coffee shop until they rework some things.

Yelp
Loved checking this spot out. It's extremely hip and trendy. The hours make it incredible for a meetup spot for any group project or meeting. They have tables that can fit 12-15 people. The aesthetic is kind of goth and edgy. There are still a lot of comfortable seating options too. The people who work here are incredible. They're easy to talk to and really helpful. I loved that they talked to me about the different buns and which ones were best. I ordered the lemon rotiboy and the honey matcha latte. I wish I realized there were straws sooner because there was so much ice in the honey matcha it felt really watered down. When I finally got a straw I got more of the flavor. The matcha was 3.5 stars for me. My lemon rotiboy had a zesty tang. It was very filling. My friend ordered a stuffed bun and there wasn't a lot of filling inside, but she enjoyed what she did have. She also loved the hot cocoa's flavors.
google avatar

Kiana B.

Yelp
The drinks are very creative and wholly unique to this place, and perfectly matching the shop's vibes. There's jazz playing on the speakers, and the decor feels like old timey American meets dark academia. There are a lot of outlets and extension cords around, making this a popular spot for remote working (also, they're open until 3 am!!). I ordered a Hong Kong and was pleasantly surprised by both the speed of service and the blend of tea and espresso.

Yelp
The bun shop is a cute little cafe located in Mount Vernon right by the University of Maryland Medical Center. Open until 3am nightly, this is the place to go if you need a place to get on the late night grind. The breads here are solid and they tend to have a variety of sweet and savory options, and gave a good selection of vegetarian friendly options. My go to is the classic rotiboy! You can never go wrong with this slightly sweet bread. Other good items that I've had are the char Siu bao (most like the baked buns, but not very authentic), the burger boy, and the matcha rotiboy. I have also tried the pho beef roll, the pizza roll, and the apple and gruyere but those were also only okay. Because their menu is so simple, they are able to quickly serve everyone. The thing that takes the longest time is for them to make their drinks, which are worth the wait! My go-tos are the Dos leches latte and the Thai tea. I have had their Vietnamese coffee (both original and chocolate) and have also enjoyed them. Seating here can really vary, depends on how busy it is but I haven't had trouble squeezing in somewhere before. The bathroom is a bit dirty, not very well kept, but understandable because they have very few workers here at any given time. There are a few outlets by the communal tables in the middle of the front dining area, but otherwise there are very few outlets. Make sure you charge all of your devices at home before coming here or else you might find yourself SOL! Pro tip: Bring your own extension cord if your devices are not fully charged before heading over here.

Yelp
The ambiance is very nice. It's spacious and has a relaxing atmosphere. Other than that I can't say much more on the positives. The buns and empanadas were pretty meh. Nothing to really write home about and the snickerdoodle cookies are horrible. Way too much flour and no distinctive taste. Similar to a bland scone. The viet coffee is pretty ok too. Overall, I wouldn't recommend unless it's to grab a coffee and get some work done.

Mya T.

Yelp
I was there with my boyfriend and another customer was very rude to me. My boyfriend went to talk to him about his disrespectful behavior and the customer stood up and threatened him with pepper spray inside of the cafe. I spoke to a worker there and let her know what happened and she did nothing about it. She was laughing with the worker prior to the incident and I assume she did nothing about it. We left promptly.
google avatar

Kirk F.

Yelp
Great place to work, love the funky ambiance, I do think the food and coffee is not super consistent.
google avatar

Sabrina P.

Yelp
There isn't enough seating or tables for how busy this coffee shop gets. I also ordered a chai tea and it tasted more like hot water. Also, like I said the shop seemed pretty busy and only one person was both taking and making the orders so that could be the reason for the drink not tasting good. I am not sure if I would return or recommend this shop.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
chai latte 3/5 - honestly my biggest issue here was the amount of flies I spotted inside their glass cases holding their baked goods :( - came on a weekend and it was intensely crowded but it could be a good place to meet and hang out - google noted they had piroshki but after asking after them the cashier looked confused and they said they didn't have any which was disappointing as it was the reason I came here initially
google avatar

Dave B.

Yelp
Say no to rudeness. Staff member was a total jerk. I'm just not going along with that kind of attitude anymore.
google avatar

Joanne L.

Yelp
Really spacious coffee shop with a chill vibe. They have a variety of drinks, including some Asian-inspired ones like Vietnamese iced coffee and Hong Kong (coffee with tea) and assorted baked goods. The iced Hong Kong is not bad - a little diluted by ice but good flavor. Waited for about 10 mins for the tea to steep. The lighting though was quite dim so not sure if it's good for studying or working.

Lindsay M.

Yelp
I got the breakfast bun, ham and gruyere, and Nutella chocolate chip cookie - all so delicious! Very kind staff and cool atmosphere.
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
I work from home and am always looking for public places with, at least, beverages and WiFi. I was wrapping up at one cafe and decided to try this one too. It will definitely have a purpose in my life just maybe not what I intended. The vibe was hipster - not what I was expecting but also not disappointed. It was decorated with a collection of furniture from various eras and styles. Super cool look for sure. It was later in the day so I just grabbed a chai latte and tried to get more work done. There are a few small tables/chairs but the larger ones are for community seating. I was a little distracted by neighboring convos, the lack of bright lights and the WiFi not working well for me. BUT that chai latte was one of the best ones, if not the best, I've had in Baltimore yet. I rarely finish the cup but I did that day and will again soon. It might not be the best option for me to get focused work done but I'll still find a reason to go back.
google avatar

Yelp
The bun shop is a go-to in Baltimore for a place to study, or for coffee and buns!! They have a wide selection of drinks-- we tried the matcha and Thai tea both of which were delicious! They have the best mini ice cubes that just make the drink so much better. We also tried the apple and Gruyère which was delicious, and the fried Mac and cheese which was a bit too heavy for my taste. The shop itself is comfy and had lots of people studying, but it was a bit too dark for me. The service was great!
google avatar

Jon D.

Yelp
Found this place while visiting Baltimore. It's a different vibe in the best way possible. It looks closed from the outside because of how dark it is inside. When you go in you see all types of people quietly going on about the daily grind. It's the people's WeWork. The pastries are great, very flaky and buttery. I got the ham and gruyere and apple turn over. I recommend getting both. The coffees we got were so good. I got the Vietnamese iced coffee and my girlfriend got the tres leches latte. Both are really good, the tres leches is a dessert coffee. Wish I lived around here so I could come more often.

Yelp
Bun Shop, a classic! I've been here a few times, and can't believe I've never made the time to write a review! WHAT I'VE TRIED: Viet iced coffee Chocolate Viet Thai iced tea Rotiboy DRINKS/FOOD: Everything has been pretty good! I will say that if you're looking for a sickly sweet and strong ca phe sua da like the kind you'll find at traditional Viet bakeries or restaurants, this is not it. It seemed a bit more like a sweet latte to me, but was nevertheless good. The chocolate Viet is what I would recommend. The Thai iced tea was also wonderful, and was perfectly brewed and sweetened. I'd come back for that. The rotiboy!!! So good. It was actually my first one. Texturally, think pineapple bun / concha / melonpan but with a thinner crust. Nice and warm too. SERVICE: Baristas have always been kind every time I'm here and have made recommendations for me when they're out of something. VIBES: SPECTACULAR. Tons of seating, including comfy sofas and outlets. The times I've been here, people are definitely on the grind getting some work done, so it's pretty quiet. You can come here with a friend and chat but you might stand out. COVID SAFETY: Pretty standard. No outdoor seating, but staff have their masks on at all times. BOTTOM LINE: I wouldn't say this would be my Viet coffee go-to, but definitely a go-to to get some work done, especially late at night. Can't wait to be back to try the rest of those pastries.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here very early on a Sunday morning. I really liked the vibe of this pastry shop. There were a variety of several small pastries to pick from and assorted coffees and teas you could order. I ordered a couple of pastries and they were placed in a convection oven to heat up quickly. I enjoyed the apple gruyere turnover. It was different, savory, with a hint of green apple flavor. The chicken pasty was also small, savory, and tasty. I felt the dough made for a flaky flavorful crust. They were both small snacks not meant to fill you up, but indulge in to get the day started. It was pretty quiet on the inside and I am sure I saw a couple of people reading books. This place makes for a cool morning place to chill out!
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot. Tasty buns, really nice loose leaf tea, friendly service - but it's the ambiance that I absolutely love about The Bun Shop. Beautiful industrial chic with gold leaf I-beams and nice long tables in the front with a few comfy chairs and small tables in the back. Great place for creatives, academics, readers, and writers to gather or just come do their own thing amidst great hot drinks and delicious snacks.

Dylan R.

Yelp
Minh the owner is the best!!! I've been coming here for years!!! Cozy, warm space with free WiFi, yummy Thai tea, and the best international hot buns. The ham and Gruyère cheese is my favorite!! The Indian Chicken Tikka is also amazing. They are also open late for you night owls. 10 out of 10.
google avatar

Kristian W.

Yelp
Great service very chill cafe however I didn't really care for the coffee much tasted just like Dunkin' Donuts which is not my favorite. Really nice decor looks like a nice place to set up your laptop and get some work done.
google avatar

Anh V.

Yelp
This is my new favorite spot to get computer work done! There's plenty of seating and outlets. WiFi is solid. I've tried the iced honey macchiato, dos leches latte, and Hong Kong--all drinks were delicious. I always love spending my morning hours here being productive. The only thing is that there are a few flies roaming inside the place but that's not a big deal to me.
google avatar

William H.

Yelp
They got big buns! (And a great personality). Met up with my friend here to try to figure out what we are doing with our lives, and for a brief moment we were able to enjoy the buns and coffee and forget about our existential dread. I got the breakfast bun. Super yummy eggs, sausage, and cheese! My friend got the Lemon bun and turnover. The lemon bun was described to me as light and lemony and the turnover was strong apple taste with nice pastry texture. The venue is pretty nice too usually you can find seating and there's outlets scattered Tip your baristas!!!
google avatar

Miriam W.

Yelp
Ambiance was cool- very low key just a little too dark for my preference for a Sunday afternoon. Maybe a few moody lamps or HV lights would help. Service was slow- but that vibe is for someone not in a rush so take your time. The food was Good- I did the signature bun and grandma apple- decent fresh and flavorful.
google avatar

Kenya G.

Yelp
I'll start by saying the inside looks pretty cool albeit cluttered and very dark! There were cool looking antiques walking up to the counter. I had came here because google said it was for filled buns and empanadas so I was surprised to come in to see Indian spiced filled pastries mainly. I liked the tikka bun the most while the fried Mac and cheese was definitely my least favorite. Overall, it was a interesting place to see but I don't think I would come again.

Barbara B.

Yelp
Coffee was great and the service was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try the "buns"

Yelp
Great coffee that really stands out. I come here often, and I can see why they came so highly recommended. The service is great, and I love the feel of the place. Highly recommended.

Yelp
An unexpected gem! Imagine being peckish after a night at the local watering hole. Wanting to grab a bite, this place was recommended by a bartender. I was pleasantly surprised with a selection of savor and sweet pastries, and I enjoyed a Mac and Cheese and also a tikka roll. I did not expect a refined finish to the evening!
google avatar

May K.

Yelp
this is absolutely the best coffee shop in Baltimore. The vibe is very study focused and there are plenty of extension cords/outlets so you can sit here all day and work. It's a med student hot spot that is open very late for any (almost) all nighters you would pull. The owner Minh is fantastic as well and very accommodating. There's another location in Towson that I want to visit but it wasn't open when I went (NY day so it makes sense). I hope to see this expand into a local chain. The coffee is really good, the only thing I would improve is the lighting, a more white yellow light so it's not as straining on the eyes for the those who bring physical books into the shop after dark. For those who are just trying to catch up with friends, there are board games as well! Definitely a must visit destination if you're passing through or staying a while

Cute little cafe to do work in. A few tables and couches a bit dark with light background music. They have a variety of different drinks- the honey matcha latte was good. Would be back to try more menu items and have coffee. Another things I appreciate is that it is open late.

Yelp
The ambiance is welcoming and warm. I had the vegan curry puff pastry and it was delicious! I also had a spiced chai with oat milk that was so yummy:)

Yelp
The ambiance was interesting. It was dark inside not what I was expecting but they have board games that you can choose from to play. Most people there were working. The service was great and the food was surprisingly really good! Would go again for the latte and chickpea puff pastry!

Yelp
I came here to study seeing that it was a coffee shop that was open late. There are outlets available to use and the coffee and Matcha are delicious. However, there are plenty of homeless people inside just sleeping which does take up space in there wasn't that many seating options.

Yelp
Very cute place to get a lite treat. Had a lemon bun with a drip coffee for a break in the day. Really delicate bun with a hint of real lemon flavor. Coffee was good. Lots of people working. Great space for work if you need that space.

Yelp
I love the Vietnamese coffee here!! Noting that I am easily convinced by tastiness = level of sweetness hahahaha I came with a lovely friend who let me know that the collection of pastries they featured isn't quite authentic to the South Asian pastry names they have. The whole nature of the cafe is quite emo or comfortably edgy. Many customers regularly come and go from the couple of times I've come here. As a Hopkins student - it's a good place to study if you can find the times when it isn't too crowded! I've been to better cafe's but among the cafe scene in Baltimore - this is definitely one of the top.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. The ambiance and the laid back vibe is everything. I love the coffee and pastries. However they really over bake their pastries. What you see in the pick is not what's in the cases. I got ham and Gruyère cheese. You couldn't even tell there was cheese or ham in it by the looks. The taste was good but I'm sure it would have been better if it were fresh and not over baked. However the Vietnamese coffee will keep me returning.

Yelp
Get the sweet buns. No: get the savory buns. No: get the sweet buns. No. You know what: get them all. All of them were delicious. The shop uses Vietnamese style bao buns as the basis for their buns and that makes them all delicious. I'm disabled and I had trouble finding the shop. Not only did one lovely gentleman come out to the street to wave and get me over, but once I had figured out and pulled up in front a lovely gentlewoman came out, recited the menu to me, and then brought me what I ordered. It's on a great street and they're open ridiculously late. They're to the right of the pizza shop in case their lights aren't on or clear. If you're looking for something truly extraordinary Late in Baltimore go here.

Yelp
Wait: None, it's a coffee shop. In the morning you may experience some but I was there mid afternoon with all the students studying. Server: The guys were nice. A lot nicer than the one in Towson. Which is a mile from my house yet I decide to go to one in Baltimore. Just sayin'. Food Quality& Order: I order my usual. ICED Oat Milk Matcha Latte. It was delicious. Major plus because they have sippy lids! That's my jam! Atmosphere& Decor: I love it. I love the dark English cafe style vibe they have going on in there. The big tables are BOMB. Plenty of space to work on projects, stake your claim and study! Tables, chairs, desks.. you name it, they have it. Super super kudos to them for all the extra power strips!

Yelp
First time visiting and the ambiance is quite to my aesthetic. It's dark, more on the quieter side yet so warm and welcoming. I didn't try any of the food but I had the Paris latte iced which was sadly disappointing. There's way too much ice so it's incredibly watered down and I wish there was just a tad bit more vanilla added in for that sweetness to kick in. It really just tastes like iced water with a touch of coffee and vanilla included. There's ample seating available with quite a lot of outlets too that make this place great for studying or doing some work. You definitely get the college/professional school vibe in this location. I decided to sit at a large table that sits 6 in the back of the cafe. It's a bit dim with the lighting but nothing unbearable (at least where I'm sitting). The bathrooms and some of the outlets are out of order too so that was a bit disappointing. The great thing about this cafe is that there's free street parking on Sundays (not sure about Saturdays) but this makes it so much more convenient for me and I'm sure for everyone else who doesn't live in Baltimore. They also stay open until 3 AM so there's a generous amount of studying time offered here for me. I'd definitely have to say this is my new favorite coffee shop!
