"Bump to some ‘00s R&B for brunch at this Henderson Avenue spot. The restaurant was already open during brunch, but now it offers a brunch menu with dishes like cinnamon roll pancakes; a breakfast Benedict with brown butter hollandaise and a choice of crab cake, smoked salmon, or bacon; and chilaquiles with salsa verde. As for drinks, it offers an espresso martini, peach bellini, and Hugo spritz. There are no bad tables at this chic spot, which has an upstairs, a downstairs, and patio dining. And there is free valet in the parking lot around back." - Courtney E. Smith
"This Henderson Avenue spot quickly shot to the top of our favorite new restaurants list. The burger features a double-patty smash burger with cheddar cheese, served with caramelized onions, pickles, and a jerk aioli with the mildest of kicks. Available for lunch and dinner, it typically costs $18 and is worth every penny, but during happy hour (which runs on weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.), it’s $9. The accompanying fries, sliced to the precise point between skinny- and steak-sized, are sprinkled with seasoning that offers a twang. The restaurant, awash in peach and brass, is usually popping, even at lunch, with a soundtrack of ‘00s R&B faves and solid gold classics. Vibe check: As cool and upscale as this place is, giant stuffed teddy bears are everywhere. It’s their thing, and we’re doing our best not to be weirded out by it. You can ask your server to move it if one is too close (they’re always too close)." - Courtney E. Smith
"A unique dining experience featuring oversized teddy bears and a menu that blends comfort-food favorites with bistro-style dishes influenced by French, Middle Eastern, African, and Southern Black cuisines." - Courtney E. Smith
"Henderson Ave. adds an American bistro right on the busiest corner, but it is worth the trip. This cute spot from culinary director Wyl Lima (formerly of Sister) and operating partner Kimberly O’Neal (formerly of Hillstone) does it all: a solid burger, roast chicken with peri peri sauce, steak au poivre, and much more. There’s also a roof deck to take advantage of while patio season in Texas is here." - Courtney E. Smith
"This looks like a simple Caesar salad when it hits the table but the cornbread croutons are a game changer, bringing crispy crunch with the sweetness of cornbread. That giant shave of parm on top is pretty sweet too. It comes with the option to add blackened chicken, crispy chicken, blackened shrimp, or salmon." - Courtney E. Smith
