I have never tried Lebanese food and Mohammed was there for it! He guided me through the menu and helped me choose some very tasty items. I was prepared to try things that I've never had before. I had the newport bowl, OG wrap, and the beets and sweet potatoes. I've never had unpickled beets nor have i had cold sweet potato. But it was very good. Everything I ate was fresh! Homemade! And the service was very quick, especially with made to order food.

So I took my client her after her surgery,it was really a nice place it's a rotisserie chicken restaurant where they also serve half and whole chicken. The atmosphere is nice the people who work there are really nice. I really like the chicken wrap and my client had this beautiful chicken bowl. We also had the zartar fries which has a Lebanonese season it and it is really good . If you are in the Newport area check it out.

Hands down, the chicken shop is my favorite lunch spot in Newport Beach. I go there all the time during my lunch break. Their food is delicious, healthy, and has no seed oils! Their food staff is very friendly & the place is very clean! I always get the OG wrap, the bowl bowl, and Newport Bowl. I highly recommend this place!

My daughter found this place and we tried it because of the healthy options. There are many and I appreciate that but when my chicken was dry the healthy reason for going there go out the window. I got their og wrap thinking anything called the og has to be legit. It wasn’t.

The food is so fresh and tasty. I always get the same thing, their Bowl Bowl with the half chili and half garlic sauce. It’s filling, without making you feel heavy (or bad about what you just had), the ingredients are great quality, and the garlic sauce is incredible. I love garlic, so I am biased, but if you’re a garlic lover you have to try it on your chicken the next time you go! The owner and employees are consistent with their good service, they’re attentive, and kind. It’s just a great food spot over all. Their food actually looks like what is advertised, and it is delicious!

This spot is a must if you’re into bold flavors and clean eats! They serve up juicy, charcoal-grilled chicken that’s totally seed-oil free (only avocado + olive oil!). The space is cozy, the service is top-notch, and every bite is packed with flavor. Faves: the Chimichurri Wrap is crispy and unreal, the Newport Bowl is the freshest I’ve had in ages, and the Half Chicken? Perfectly grilled and seasoned. Don’t skip the za’atar fries or the sauces!

Been here so many times and it's always amazing and consistent. One of the best spots on 17th street.

This is my go to spot when I want a salad or something "fresh". I typically get their charrd bowl and just love how vibrant the dish look when you get it. You don't feel gross or heavy after eating as well so it's typically something we always want after a hike or finish doing some sort of activity. The fries with the garlic and chillies sauce is so good and something we always have to get. When we are craving the chicken shop there's really nothing else we can get that will be as good so we do come here often.

The food here is amazing and definitely 5 stars. However, they need to work on their customer service-3 stars. I've been here a couple of times because I think the food is great! But greet your guests when they come in. And don't make them wait at the counter with no interaction for 5min before coming to take their order. There were several workers there just talking to themselves and ignoring the customer. Hello!! Like I said, if I didn't like their food, I'd not return. However the salads are the bomb!! Sweet potato fries are delicious as well. I also tried hot & spicy sauce and it's got a great kick!

Absolutely stellar place, I'm just sad there's not one anywhere else or closer to where I live - then I'd be there a few times a week! First, I have to say the cost is totally worth it for the quality and the taste of what you're getting. You can go to some cheapy chicken shop or a place like Zankou's (which don't get me wrong, is okay) or you can go here and experience a foodgasm. One sniff of the air wafting from their grills to your nose, and you'll know what you're in for. They grill their chicken over charcoals and have amazing sauces to go with. I'd personally recommend the wrap. It's nice and compact, handheld if sometimes you're running around trying to eat something on the go. But stop and smell the roses - sit down and enjoy your wrap on a beautiful warm day with breeze, then after, you can visit Pandor next door. The chicken is so flavourful, so juicy, the secret is definitely in their marinades and spices. Say goodbye to American style chicken that can often be boring. My goodness I'm a fan of the toum (garlic spread) I'll eat enough of it to ward off any vampires that come my way, it comes on the wrap, but you don't have to get it on it. Then, I pair with the yogurt harissa. YUM. They also have amazing, healthy bowls if you're not in the mood for a wrap. You'll be kind of smelly when you're in there. Also, I love how the business is super proud of their products. They will inform you of what goes into it, and they aren't using seed oils. They even sell Lebanese olive oil and other specialities you can take home.

What a find?! In a seemingly tranquil shopping center near Castaways Park, The Chicken Shop boasts excellent fresh off the grill options that tantalize and delight guests. I heard about The Chicken Shop through a Newport Run Club advertisement for a limited edition Newport Run Club bowl. Upon entering the brick lined space, cartoon paintings of chickens adorning its walls greet guests, the aroma of the chicken cooking wafts through the air, and the sound of meat sizzling on the grill, takes you on a sensory journey. I ordered this speciality Newport Run Club bowl, which featured pickled onions, charcoal chicken, watermelon, roasted sweet potato, feta, fresh mint, avocado, and charred broccoli, with a pomegranate balsamic dressing. This bowl is worth the wait and delicious for a post-workout meal, with fresh ingredients and packed with a heaping dose of flavor.

Took my father here after a day at Crystal Cove and this place delivered. Hailing from the far north region known as the 626, I had to trust Yelp with this one. My pops is an easy going guy for the most part and relatively easy to please when it comes to food, but this place delivered and for that, it needs to be celebrated. For a place to have the audacity to call themselves the chicken shop, they have to have some confidence in the product they serve. I got the Bowl Bowl, not to be confused with Oregon Duck and NBA journey man Bol Bol, and I found my bowl to hit the spot and deliver on all fronts. They had a garlic rating which was fun and the garlic was definitely there as promised. The use of charcoal came through on the chicken and overall I was happy with my meal. There is plenty of outdoor seating that they share with other shops and the tables are separated enough as to allow for pets, which in this case was my 70 lb pittie. They also have a good canned beer selection as well as other canned alcoholic and NA beverages too if that is a deciding factor in any way.

Always such great quality seed-oil free food. I recommend you get the sweet potato fries or za'atar fries. (SEE PHOTO!) they literally do not skimp- they give you a whole container filled with delicious French fries. I love their Newport bowl personally and I always feel great after eating here!

Came here with the family on a whim yesterday night for dinner. Ordered: 1) OG wrap with regular fries 2) chimichurri wrap with sweet potato fries 3) half roast chicken 4) jalapeño salad Tastes good, better with the sauces. Found table inside for seating.

OMG... The rotisserie chicken here is amazing!! No wonder why people lineup at this place! Very casual... More for picking up than dining in. I love the way they make the rotisserie chicken charred and not dried out... very well, prepared and tender. I had the bowl with chicken and portobello mushroom added.... I highly recommend anyone new ordering that too.

I decided to stop in here after a bike ride since we were very hungry. Let me start off with this place is delicious. The items on the menu are healthy & they're filling. The food was perfectly cooked. The food came out so fast that by the time we sat down, our buzzer was already going off. Highly recommend. Seating on the inside is very small, luckily there's tables outside so you can enjoy the nice crisp air

It's 5PM on a Saturday and you've tried all the rotisserie chicken in the area. Costco chicken just isn't cutting it anymore, you desire something more, something healthy and free of processed junk. You find yourself ordering a whole chicken, 2 sides, an OG wrap and question yourself, can I finish this all? That's a rhetorical question of course, because this is The Chicken Shop where their chicken is absolutely killer. The service was pretty good, but it's not a full-service type place, so you'll need to grab your own stuff (it's not brought to your table, lending itself to more of a casual type atmosphere). I was impressed with the portion sizes of everything, after smashing a bunch of tasting menus over the last week this meal was a satisfying reprieve. I would just make one tiny suggestion--please fix your restroom so customers don't have to disturb nearby businesses (it made me feel slightly uncomfortable). Other than that, definitely give them a try and maybe bring your own wetnaps to clean yourself up afterwards.

such a solid bowl. i like the newport bowl, and they give soooo much protein!!! food comes out fairly quickly and the price is also good, only $17 for a large variety of items. i've been here twice now and will come back again

My absolute favorite chicken shawarma and salad spot in OC! The owner Fred is super friendly and knows how to bbq that chicken just right. Fresh off the bbq the chicken is so tender and tasty with all the fresh ingredients you can ask for. The place has plenty of parking in the center along with plenty of indoor and shared outdoor seats to sit at.

Wow, the Chicken Shop has some of the best chicken that I've ever had. The staff were so kind and friendly when I came in to pick up my online order! When you walk in, you can smell all the amazing food coming out from the kitchen and the atmosphere is inviting as soon as you come inside. The chicken here is so juicy on the inside and has a great char on the outside. It was rich and flavorful. The 2 whole chickens I got on my recent order were devoured for the party that I brought them to and everyone loved them. The sides were also delicious with the fries being well cooked and seasoned. The huge side of garlic toum was a great pairing for the chicken. They also gave me plenty of sauces on the side to dip my chicken into and they were all tasty. The sweet potatoes were also delicious and great compliment to the chicken. They make everything to order here so the wait time can be a little long but it's worth it! If you are placing a big order, I recommend ordering online for takeout! This is one of the best places in OC for amazing chicken and I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

My office catered lunch from The Chicken Shop and I was soooo obsessed I had to come back for a personal visit. They are located in an affluent area in Newport Beach in the same plaza as Massage Envy, Orange Theory, Pressed, Live Metta Pilates and other luxuries. I can see folks coming here for a healthy bite after their work out. From the catered meal I was able to try their Chimichurri Wrap, The Char'd Bowl, and The Bowl Bowl. It was so healthy and balanced. My coworkers and I were like... this is DEFINITELY going onto the lunch rotation. When I came back during my personal visit the store was a lot smaller than I imagined. Inside they had one large communal table and a small table for about 4 people. Neither were wiped down the whole time I was there. The tables def had crumbs and debris from previous patrons. There is also a lot of outdoor seating for businesses in the area. It was so hot so I decided to sit indoors, but it wasn't much cooler inside. I ordered their Chimichurri Wrap ($14.95) which has chicken, chimichurri, picked red onions, and sweet potato fries. Yummmm! Highly recommended. SO IN LOVE with this wrap! Then I also wanted to add a salad to be healthy. I liked both salads but it would have been crazy for me to order 2 salads by myself. I decided to get the Char'd Bowl ($15.95) which comes with chicken, crunchy chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, pickled red onions, avocado, charred corn, over a bed of mixed greens. It was good but not as satisfying as I remember. The cruncky chickpeas and charred corn were my favorite things about the salad but next time I'll get the bowl bowl to see how it tastes on its' own. Pricing is a little on the high side, while the protein seems low. Also I saw on the receipt that they elected for white meat on my bowl. Ahem I actually prefer dark meat. And while I was here I didn't like how there were so many flies INSIDE the restaurant... I didn't want to sit outdoors to avoid bugs and heat but still had to deal with it inside. This is a meal better suited for catering or take out. Not really meant to be enjoyed there. I'll be back for my glorious chimichurri wrap but I'll think twice before splurging on the bowls.

Seeing so many good reviews, I was excited to try this place. My salad looked beautiful but the chicken breast on my salad was so dry and didnt impart any distinct herbs or flavor profile ... The kids had wraps which were fairly good, pita bread side was so wispy and had no real flavor despite the garlic dip. Not worth the drive in my opinion. Something like Chicken Maison is way tastier. This place was quite disappointing for us.

Just ordered this for lunch and had the Char'd bowl and I'm in love! I really want to try their wraps next but so far this is such a great menu and I can't believe I hadn't tried it until now. Definitely worth trying out! Plus they're seed oil-free!

My husband and I came here for lunch on a Tuesday while driving back to LA from San Diego. I'd found this place on Yelp while looking for a healthy lunch spot and picked it as I saw it was an Australian-owned charcoal chicken restaurant. Charcoal chicken is a popular food in Australia but it's hard to find in the U.S., The Chicken Shop is the only place I can think of that does it. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in Newport Beach. There is ample parking as a result. The restaurant operates on a pay and order first model. It's fairly casual and would make for a good spot if you want to get takeout or just have a quick meal. They have a couple of vegetarian options, which consist of mushrooms, but otherwise the menu is largely comprised of chicken, which is available in bowls, salads, or pitas. I got the Char'd bowl this time, which consisted of chicken atop a salad. The chicken was juicy and the salad ingredients were fresh and flavorsome. Service was friendly. I think I'll come back to this place if I'm in the area, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

My mouth is watering after I just scuffed down a whole meal, lol. This place is absolutely amazing and delicious. I'm so happy we found the Chicken Shop. The O.G wrap was the real deal! The chicken is juicy, flavorful, and authentic. The salad, zatar fries and toum are perfection. There's just something about charcoal chicken that keeps you wanting more. For a half chicken and 3 sides being $33 and then getting 2/3 sides incorrect in our takeout order, it was quite the bummer to see when we got home. Price of each item is way too high. I got a bowl and there was no flavor at all, I was so sad. The chicken was also cold :/ for reference, I picked it up before the promised time, and got home within 10 minutes, and it was straight cold. The garlic toum also had very little taste. I'm quite surprised by my experience here because of the amazing reviews and I was looking forward to trying this place. I would not personally come back, I prefer Dizzy Bird at the Spectrum, so much flavor!

Had this place bookmarked for a while and as always I'm disappointed I haven't had this sooner! Was craving something fresh and casual for dinner. Opted for the Char'd bowl with Dark Meat Chicken (ALWAYS) and it came with two very well sized bone-in leg & thighs. My bowl came with the zesty sumac & pomegranate dressing but I also got the garlic and yogurt harissa sauces on the side. Let me tell you the sauces complemented the chicken and veggies sooo well - I'll probably have to get a side of the sauces every time. The chicken was moist and grilled to perfection. Did I mention it's grilled over charcoal??? It was a simple meal but every bite had so much flavor. Can't wait to come back!

Run to the Chicken shop right now! Get the bowl, bowl and please order the garlic chili! Wow, what a great pairing in flavor. The bowl has lemon quinoa which I was a little skeptical about but trust me the flavor was big hit with my palate. Service was fast for dinner time but don't ask them to rush as they are preparing everything fresh. Nothing frozen! All healthy. Cozy atmosphere inside but they have tables outside. I didn't have time to eat at the location but next time I do, I will pair my bowl with a beer which is readily available onsite! Coming back here to tomorrow.

I'm hooked to this place! As a shawerma lover I can tell you this place has the absolute best garlic toum and i'm not exaggerating. If you're a garlic lover you HAVE to try the OG wrap (with extra garlic of course because there's no such thing as too much garlic) - i'm sure it won't disappoint. I always get the OG wrap and haven't really tried anything else, but i've seen other people's food like plates & bowls and they also look delicious! I also love their Zaatar fries - a twist on regular fries because Zaatar makes everything better. The chicken is always fresh & the workers are really friendly. I love that the quality of the food is always consistent & I really can't find anything negative to say about this place even if I tried. I've referred many of my friends and family to try this place and they were all really impressed. This place is starting to become a weekly ritual for me and I look forward to it every time.

My husband and I come here pretty often, the food and service is always great. It's a smaller, fast casual location but very clean and always delivers delicious wraps. My go to is the chimichurri wrap and his is the OG wrap. While they don't appear very large on the plate, we always leave very full and wonderfully satisfied with our meal. We always get an order of the Zataar fries as well with the garlic toum and spicy yogurt harissa sauces. They pair very well together. Overall the wraps have great flavor with a good crispiness exterior. We drive from Irvine to this location for the quality food.

I was excited to hear there was a baller chicken place nearby work. The charcoal rotisserie chicken was delicious and I'm sad I didn't buy a whole bird. Definitely a lunch staple. I'd recommend anything on the menu, just add chicken!

First, the food here is unbeatable. I drive 20 minutes from Irvine for this. Even better than the food (which is already a 10/10) is their customer service. I'm going to get emotional writing this, but the staff here is so incredibly kind. I was there for dinner last night with my brother, mom, and daughter. Before we could even start eating, my toddler vomited all over the table and floor. I felt so bad for the staff and the customers dining next to us. We tried to clean up the mess, but the manager was so quick and helpful. They immediately came to clean up the vomit. They made us feel so well taken care of. These situations are hard, especially as a first time mom, so it felt really nice to have their support.

Came here with a girlfriend after a hike and it really hit the spot! We got the bowl bowl and split it between the both of us... Big portions. Chicken was perfect, quinoa was great and our favorite part was the seasoned french fries with garlic sauce. Service was surprisingly very fast and we sat outside and shared a blueberry wine cocktail. Seating is a hit or miss depending on how busy. Good spot definitely go!

I LOVE THE CHICKEN SHOP. It's the best chicken I've ever had. I always get the half chicken with sweet potato fries, the seasoning or marinade on the chicken is SO GOOD. My favorite sauce is the BBQ maple! I also love how the entire establishment is seed oil free!

The char'd bowl was fantastic! I loved the crispy chickpeas, pickled red onions, and avo. This was actually a really good portion too. The OG wrap, however, paled in comparison to the bowl. It was so much smaller of a portion and didn't have much in it. They really should have served this with a small side salad or some fries because it looked so empty on the plate compared to the bowl. I did like the crispy/crunch they achieved on the outside of the wrap though.

Pricing $5 for a side of pickles & when they forget to serve me the pickles, & i asked for it, the cashier had to look into the receipts to make sure i actually ordered it, as if i am gonna scam him over a pickle. You wont feel you are served with love. & i feel disrespected.

Amazing! Wow! Tried The Chicken Shop and was seriously impressed. I had a wrap and a bowl--both were super tasty, fresh, and surprisingly healthy. It's rare to find a place that nails all three. Definitely worth a visit.

Delicious Chicken Every Time! This chicken shop is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving amazing, delicious high-quality chicken. TCS has organic-fed, antibiotic and hormone-free charcoal-roasted chicken. The chicken is always perfectly cooked with no seed oils which is so hard to find! The seasonings are spot on, and don't get me started on the sauces like the creamy yogurt harissa or the chili and garlic toum; which add an extra layer of flavor and spice. The service is friendly and fast, they go above and beyond for their customers whether it's your first time in or your tenth time in. Don't forget to try the sides -- the sweet potato fries, za'atar pita crisps, or the green salad which all add complements to the chicken. If you're looking for top-quality chicken, this place won't disappoint!

I had the original chicken wrap. The chicken was flavorful, the garlic sauce was tangy, and the pickles bring the wrap together nicely. Overall I think I would come back again.

Haven't been here in about a year and let me tell you, they still serve delicious dishes! Our bowls featured moist, tasty chicken and a variety of fresh vegetables. Gracious service and reasonably priced satisfying food. Great combination! Doubt it will be a year before we return. Cheers!

TL;DR - was good but didn't "wow" me, would came back if i was in the area. overall 3.5/5 FOOD: *og wrap - i got it with chicken and it comes with a ton of garlic toum, pickles, and fries! i really loved the flavor and texture of the wrap. the pickles added a great acidity and crunch to the whole thing. loved that they are heavy on the garlic toum- so yummy! the only downside is that the chicken was on the drier side which was a bummer since its the main thing in the wrap. maybe it was just bad timing? 3.5/5 SERVICE: cashier i interacted with was super nice and welcoming! efficient so no complaints 5/5 PRICE: the total for one wrap was around $15. i would say it's a little steep for what you get but fair enough. 4/5

Got the og wrap w a side of chimichurri and yogurt harissa and wow everything was so delicious. The wrap was so flavorful and was evenly filled so that every bite I took got a mouthful of tender chicken, the delightful crunch of the pickle, and delicious garlic sauce. The fries didn't seem to contribute much tbh cuz the texture blended in w the wrap itself but it might've been cuz I let it sit for at least an hour before eating it, which probably made em soft and lose their crispness. The ones at the outer ends that were poking out still were crisp, so I can imagine the crisp texture the fries probably would've contributed had I eaten the wrap as soon as I got it. The chimichurri and yogurt sauces were also very delicious, I was conflicted w/ each bite whether I wanted to eat the wrap as is or which sauce to add to a bite cuz every way was soo good. I wanted to save half of the wrap for later but had difficulty cutting myself off and ended up eating almost all of it. Really want to try their other wraps and bowls.

Our experience was absolutely stellar The food was immaculate -- the vegetables were so fresh and the chicken was so juicy and tender. The staff were awesome. They recommended the Newport Bowl with half greens/half quinoa for a more hearty meal....and let me tell you, I was full and ready to conquer the day. Overall wonderful experience. The best part was that the chicken is seed oil free - like does it get any better than that???? Ambience was also fire cute little shopping center. #gotherenow

Love this place because it's SEED OIL FREE!!! A very rare gem in OC. I wish the chicken was organic but the quality is descent. The chimichurri wrap is out go-to along with the Newport bowl, but you can't go wrong with anything you order from here in my opinion!

We had a very nice lunch here! Spend the late morning walking around the back bay and got kind of hungry, so decided to come here for a fast lunch. Really like that they have the outdoor patio seating, ordered our food inside and then waited. Didn't take very long for our food to come out. I got a super Duper healthy salad with chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. Made with fresh ingredients. I felt really good eating it and felt good afterwards. The flavors was really good. Prices are reasonable. Easy no-frills grub place. Highly recommend.

Fast service, concise answers for questions. Jen was helpful and efficient. I have had Nashville style hot chicken before. Dave's nails it and has the right recipe. I would highly recommend the #3, extra spicy is just right for most people who want hot, reaper was hot but not as hot as some other peppers, not for everyone. Fries are great

Sometimes you don't know whether to give a 4 or 5 stars to a place but with this place, it was an easy 5 stars. The OG wrap is delicious, filled with their roasted rotisserie chicken wrapped with a crunchy panini wrap. It comes with golden fries, crisp pickles and a garlic sauce inside to tie it all together. Overall an awesome place with great food and a very cute vibe inside with all the decor. Service was great - very laid back and relaxed. They have a large table and one smaller table inside so more limited seating but plenty of outdoor seating around that area
