The 38 Best Restaurants in Hong Kong | Eater

"Colonial Hong Kong had its awkward moments, like when the Chinnery used to be a women‐free zone. Thankfully, that changed in 1990, and now anyone can darken its meticulously polished timber doors and order a perfectly executed Manhattan from the ivory‐jacketed barman. Consider dropping in for a lunch of tikka masala, served in actual silver dishes just as it was in the 1960s. [$$]" - Janice Leung Hayes

Where to Eat and Drink in Central, the Most Delicious District in Hong Kong | Bon Appétit

"It feels like the kind of old-world pub that past fancy-pants Brits may have frequented, complete with classic cocktails shaken by barmen clad in ivory jackets." - ByJanice Leung Hayes

Just like a small bistro with artistic ambiance. I love that lovely wall panel with abundant wine with various colors. Great vibe Great service Decent red wine Definitely recommended and will visit again.

The Chinnery is one of the most special places in Hong Kong. It has excellent food (the best Anglo-Indian and English gastropub cuisine), unparalleled hospitality (Freida and Jimmy are gems - genuinely passionate about delivering the best hospitality to guests) and a great atmosphere transporting guests to an intimate and luxurious club in England. Whether one is dining at the bar or if one is lucky enough to snag a table, the experience is always top-notch. We need more of this around!

Very nice chicken tikka masala Not spicy, but have nice taste from the spices Chicken is not very tender and juicy But the aroma from the grill is nice Portion is pretty big, I took half away 😛 Side vegetables is a good choice, although it’s a hundred dollars for some beans 😆 but they are nicely cooked. Ending with a small piece of brownie and apple crumble, both taste very good 👍🏻

We came for happy hour and enjoyed good drinks, service and setting. Good for small groups in a comfy speak easy setting. Recommend the snacks and cocktails. Also enjoyed the metal mug for beer too, no metal taste.

My favorite place for a quiet Guinness, good food and excellent service. There is not a single item on the menu that I haven’t tried and recommend .

the food quality are ok but service can be improved. we have ordered a few dishes to share. with the current covid19 situation, I would appreciate if they divide the dishes for us, or ask if we would like to have this service. no reservations thus recommend to go early. we arrived before 12noon and only bar area available

This place is a lot smaller than you may expect from the photos so a reservation is recommended. It feels more like a fancy bar with a few dining tables rather than an authentic British pub or restaurant. That aside, the interior is very well decorated and the seats are large and relaxing. For a British restaurant, it’s a shame that the choice of beers were limited - it was either Guinness or Asahi. For such a high price tag, and being at a world-renowned hotel it would have been great if they could offer styles of British beer that one couldn’t find in nearly every other bar in the city. The food, although expensive, was delicious. I’d recommend the bangers and mash which had a delicious gravy and traditional sausages. Avoid the braised lamb, which my friend ordered which came in a watery soup and didn’t resemble anything of seen in the U.K. before.

Yelp
Top notch. Traditional colonial ambiance. Well experienced waiters, they truly know what they are doing. It is said Mandarin Oriental Hotel is the traditional place for the local upper class, and you can clearly see from the waiters here. They can better serve and communicate with you than waiters in most of the HK 3-starred Michelin restaurants. Food here is traditional as well. You won't get any surprise from the menu choice here, but every dish here is safe and will be presented with good quality.
