The Churchill Tavern

My friend selected this restaurant, she wanted to attend a Sunday Roast for her Bday, we were really looking forward to it. Very festive, we were seated at a booth at the end which was great for conversation, we weren't under the speakers with music. I was hoping to have to Roast Pork, it was not available. My friend ordered Roast Beef (roast menu), I ordered Shepherds Pie (regular menu). Roast beef, meat was tough, not flavorful, Popovers were greasy, immediately sent back, now trying the chicken pot pie. My Shepherds pie meat was very salty, tasted of too much worstechire sauce. I only ate the whipped potatoes on top, which was tasty, then ordered a salad. Chicken pot pie, vegetables tasted like packaged frozen vegetables, celery was still hard, also sent back. Food looked really good, but you know the saying, looks can be deceiving sorry no pics of my food. Country Cobb Salad (minus canned mandarines) was a nice big portion for us to share, dressing was good, thankfully salads are hard to mess up. Being at the booth on the end, kind of backfired because we ended up waving & waiting to be seen for reorder of drinks & food but the young man was understanding & we weren't charged for the 2 meals sent back. Unfortunately, this is not a place I would recommend for dinner, we trekked here from the Upper Westside for a Bday dinner, far from worth it. Drinks were standard, Gin & tonic + beers.

Great English style pub! Easy to make a reservation about 18 hours before hand. We went at 4pm on a Wednesday. There were several business groups there one of which had a long table of about 16-20 people. We sat with 3 people in a cozy booth. Bar service available too. TVs with futbol playing. Restrooms in the rear. Fantastic Shepherds Pie with a hearty ground beef spiced base and whipped potatoes on top. Crispy fish and chips as well with mushy peas. Food came out really quickly—under 10 minutes. Neat 1940’s themed post war feel and memorabilia. Might be tight if you have lots of bags and heavy coats to set down.

I have been there several times for lunch during the week and it has been mostly empty, fantastic service, great vibe, and got food quickly. I just wish the food tasted a bit better, but everything else about dining there is great!

Churchill’s is always a solid go to. The food is consistently delicious - everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. You can tell they care about what they’re serving. John the bartender really makes the experience. He is friendly, attentive, and knows exactly what to recommend. Great energy behind the bar and makes us feel welcome from the start. Only small note: the bathrooms could use updated hand dryers - it would definitely elevate the overall experience. Overall, a great spot with great people. Will be back!

My stay at Hotel Churchill was truly wonderful; it offered a comfortable and welcoming environment right in the heart of the city. The peaceful atmosphere here truly invited a moment of reflection after busy days exploring. We walked in off the street for dinner before a show on an extremely cold evening in New York City. My son had taken me out for my birthday. The second we stepped inside, the smell of the cooking hit me, and it immediately put me in a really happy mood. We had a few Guinness. I was very tempted to order a hamburger. I kept seeing plates go by, and the burgers looked and smelled unbelievably delicious. But I usually try to order something in a restaurant that I can’t make at home. The menu was pretty vast. My son and I ordered different meals. I’m not exactly sure what he got, but I ordered the meat and mushroom pie. It was absolutely, unbelievably delicious. It really hit the spot after walking through the freezing New York City weather. The food came out piping hot, plentiful, and was an absolute pleasure to eat. I have to say, I am really looking forward to returning.

Top-tier dining experience. Staff members deliver outstanding service quickly with amazing cuisine. Their dishes combine flavor, freshness, and visual appeal successfully. The area around this restaurant stays busy after dark. All our selections were tasty!! I'm excited to return!

A British flavored watering hole. It has the accoutrements of a UK pub: Dark panels, low ceiling and London Pride on tap! Food is suitable bland (it’s all in keeping with the style). Service is fast, friendly and knowledgeable.

One of the few places that does a full English breakfast as most places are Irish pubs vs British. Good amount of food for full English at reasonable price of $24. Love the atmosphere very festive around Christmas time. Seems like a cool place to hang with coworkers or friends for a pint of beer.

I would say the Churchill is British-ish. Swap out the Churchill painting above the fireplace for Brian Boru or George Washington, and you have a whole new vibe. That said, the basement pub-ish is candlelit cozy. Food was fine - just a a classic burger for me. Burger was cooked perfectly and the chips were plentiful and good. While my two beers weren't really to my taste, there was a nice selection of English ales. Service was fine/good. Nothing extraordinary but surely nothing to complain about.

Came here late at night for drinks. They have good cocktails and also have a good selection of beer. They had London Pride here when I went, which can be hard to find in a bar. I would come back here so I can try their food.

I've been here a few times and I'm ready to declare it my favorite pub in the city. The low-key vibe is exactly what I prefer--no bells and whistles. They have a great selection of beers, and the food is fantastic. I've tried shepherd's pie at several pubs, and Churchill's is by far the best I've ever had. The service is quick, and the staff is very attentive, making for a great overall experience. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the neighborhood!

Nice cozy tavern like bar with large communal table, private booths and tables. Cute the relaxed vibe, we were seated quickly as it was kinda empty. Me and my friend had a late lunch, we started with the Scotched Eggs, which were quite good. I ordered the Bangers & Mash while my friend had the Full English Breakfast. The Bangers and Mash were amazing with two crispy slices of bacon and smothered in gravy. I thought I'd see some peas but none to my surprise. Nevertheless still to my liking. The Full English breakfast was great for my friend, only two slight comments about the mushroom cap and the tomato not being grilled. I would love to come back on a Sunday and try their Sunday Roast! I've been looking somewhere to try have it. Hopefully this will be the spot.

We planned to check The Churchill Tavern out while visiting NYC as we enjoy good British pub food and drink. Apparently we picked the wrong time to go. We were not greeted upon arriving. We ordered drinks at the bar and the bartender said he would be "right over" to get our food order. However a UK football match had just begun and 30 minutes into the game after no attention had been given to our table, we decided to go elsewhere. When asked why he never came to take our order we were told "because the match" and received excuses about how there was no server, only one man at the bar. However there were only two other customers besides us at the bar, obviously known to the barman as they were watching the match as well. So we left. I guess we will never know how the food would've been. If I were the owner, I'd be pissed. Poor service. Do not recommend.

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a night out. The drink menu is diverse, and I highly recommend the [specific cocktail]--it was expertly crafted and delicious. The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even better. Overall, a great spot for quality drinks and a lively vibe

When it's late at night and you need some decent food, this English pub did the trick. We ended up ordering steamed veggies, chili and chicken caesar salad. The waiter was very nice and convinced me not to order some other items. They do service typical pub food -fish n chips, shepherd's pie and more by the way as well as beer and whiskey from England. It has a fun statue outside of a British soldier which was fun to take pictures with! There is a bar area with stools and a mirror that says "My taste is simple: I am easy satisfied with the best." Sir Winston Churchill. There also is a fireplace, wooden barrel and brick walls. So while it wasn't my first choice, it made us all very happy! Give it a try and the customers were all very nice! (they took our pictures outside for us).

Very impressed! I'm British and my father is Irish. Believe you me I've seem the worst of a pub. This is a great tavern. It is what you want. Good beer. Good food. Good atmosphere. I can't believe I saw a review complaining about noise. It's a PUB. If you want a library go to a library. I had the Curry Half and Half. Half chips, half rice. They brought me extra curry sauce. The beer is poured properly. Everything is clean. Music is good without being too loud. Honestly anyone moaning is deeply unhappy with life and the sort of people you don't want near you when you're out for an evening.

Great service, food tasted amazing! We stopped during the Christmas holiday week and it was filled with people! My coworkers absolutely love this place, it has a great holiday vibe!

Dined at the Churchill tavern last night with a large group (15 people). First off the tavern is decorated in full glory in Christmas garlands and flowers and nutcrackers giving it a perfect holiday aesthetic. The inside is no exception with warm Christmas lights lighting up the establishment and transporting you to a cozy London pub (it is British after all). I would give this more of a 3.5 rating than a 3 for the following reasons. Given the size of our group we had to order off a prefix menu vs the regular menu which was a bit of a letdown but understandable. However the staff we had did not seem to know their own menu. I asked if the cheese on the steak came ontop or on the side and the waitress did not know. I also asked what kind of meat is in the Sheperds pie and she needed to ask someone else, but if these items are also on the regular menu why would you not know these questions? The menu for the steak also only said it came with sautéed onions, however when other friends who ordered that got their entree there was also mash potatoes which would've been nice to know. I also asked what type of veggies are in the veggie soup and she said veggies. Not very helpful. I ordered the vegetable soup, salmon and toffee pudding and overall it's descent nothing to rave about but portion size is good. I will say when the toffee pudding arrived half the ice cream was already melted despite it being winter so again things could have been better. Overall it's a solid spot but I wouldn't rush over anytime soon.

Second time we have been - both times were for the English onion soup . Seriously, one of the best I've had. During Christmas time, the bar is decked out in decor and is super fun. Service was solid.

Rustic and comfortable. Bustling and full of energy. Met up here with friends and family for a Christmas get-together, and was happily surprised at how delicious the food was. It's British food, it's bar food, and it's just want Santa ordered! Very delicious, great beer selection as well. Nice service.

This is an okay place if you are looking for a British pub. They serve whiskeys and beers from the United Kingdom like Fuller's London Porter, as well as some local craft beers. And as expected, they also serve typical pub food, like fish n chips, bangers and mash, and shepherd's pie. The place is not fancy though and is just above a dive bar. One of the quirkier things about this place is that inside the bathroom, you will hear wartime speeches from Winston Churchill being played over the speakers.

This is a lovely British pub and restaurant that I visited with a large party after church. The interior was cavernous and cool with a very hip vibe. Upon walking in, there is a bar area with tall black stools, along with a large mirror across the room with the following quote in fancy gold lettering: "My taste is simple: I am easily satisfied with the best." ~ Sir Winston Churchill. The rest of the place boasts brick walls, a fireplace, a wooden barrel, and seating for a large party in the back, as well as an upstairs. Since my friends and I came on a Sunday, I was excited by the prospect of trying the Sunday Roast. I just needed to know what options they had for that. When the waiter mentioned lamb chops, I knew immediately that was what I wanted. In true Sunday Roast fashion, this entree came with all the trimmings: Potatoes, carrots and peas, bread, and gravy. I asked for my lamb chops to be medium well and 3 out of the 4 fit this description. There was 1 that was decidedly rare. I definitely enjoyed the medium rare lamb chops. They were delightfully tender and succulent, cooked in a savory well seasoned sauce. The roasted mini whole potatoes with the skin still on were also tasty. The bread was wonderfully crisp, buttery, and flavorful. My least favorite part of the meal were the carrots, which tasted like they were canned. The peas it came with were better though. As for dessert, sticky toffee pudding was on the menu so I knew I had to have it. Whenever I see it, I have to get it no matter the price because it's one of my favorite desserts and so rare to find in NYC. The sticky toffee pudding can be served with either cream or ice cream, and I chose the cream, which was thick and yellow in color. That sticky toffee pudding was absolutely delicious with the perfect consistency. The cake, as well as the cream was slightly warm and paired beautifully together. It tasted sweet, rich, and simply divine. The service was pretty solid, especially considering there were 16 of us total, with a few latecomers. Everyone was attended to in a timely manner and we were well taken care of. Overall, a nice meal and I'm glad I got to try the Sunday roast. I would be open to returning, as the salmon looked really good!

One of my favorite bars in nyc. I worked up the block for years and this would be our go to place for happy hour. The ambiance and staff are fantastic. The food is great and it's just a cozy pub feel. I still come all the way from Astoria to come here. I bring friends from all over here because I love it. One of my favorite places in this city.

This actually feels like a proper English pub more than most places which throw up that shingle - including the newer "gastropubs" in England itself. Indeed, this place reminded me on walking in of what the pub in my dad's village was like when I was younger, less the massive quantity of cigarette and pipe smoke hanging in the air. We came for Sunday lunch, and it was pretty much exactly what we expected. Started with a sausage roll and a Scotch egg (the latter served with a pretty good Branston pickle, though I'm guessing just out of a jar rather than made there). The brown sauce served with the sausage roll was interesting, it wasn't HP as I know it, didn't think to ask what it actually was. Another review talked about Scotch eggs being meant to be served cold. While they certainly can be, they shouldn't be - and they're far better warm anyhow. The Churchill's was probably one of the better ones I've ever had actually, topped only by those made to order by the mess steward in my old officers' mess. Lunch was a good portion, we both went for beef though I think next time I'll try the lamb. The only thing that really was a downside was the steak knives were crap!

Nice find for late night dessert on a Monday night! They seated our family of 4 at 10pm and it was not crowded. The interior was rustic and cozy. Desserts and drinks came quickly. Husband was happy with his gin cocktail. My Guinness was a good temp but tasted a little bit like the lines/tap spout needed to be cleaned - common problem for Guinness. We had sticky toffee pudding (solid execution), brownie a la mode (decent), apple pie a la mode excellent) and a bread pudding with custard (perfect). The wait staff was courteous and we would definitely consider going there again.

If you're looking an indifferent British pub experience from another era, with average food and slightly indifferent staff then the Churchill is your place! Typical pub layout with a few booths, and authentic dust from what appears to be a decade of character building. The beer selection is decent, offering a range of British beers, cider and whiskeys. Traditional pub food; shepherds pie, fish and chips, Scotch egg (that they heat up?! why? Its meant to be served cold) and a Sunday roast dinner. However, its basic food churned out to fill orders. Wife treated me to dinner for a birthday, to appease a little homesickness but honestly, it made me grateful that British pub food has evolved since the chef who may have been trained in a British pub kitchen several decades ago...learned their... hmmm.... "trade" is probably the word here. Summing up the Churchill; Good for a beer, but the experience feels tired and in need of a refresh or new ideas. Perhaps I'm being overly critical and have misinterpreted that the food is a homage to the era invoked by the Churchill speeches audio that plays mysteriously in the bathroom.

It was actually comical how bad this experience was - I tell it to people all the time and they always get a kick out of it. For one, I stepped in the bathroom and there was puke on the floor, poop on the toilet (not mine) I couldn't flush the toilet, no soap in the dispenser and air dryer didn't work. That was just the bathroom lol It was 5 of us, we stopped for a round of drinks. We all asked for waters and a drink, but one of us asked for soda water. She brought us all soda waters and charged us $3.50 for each. When we told her we didn't order them she laughed and said "you can't pay for soda water?" No girl cuz we didn't order them She acted this way cuz the gratuity is included, which as a server I don't really care. But yeah just wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy

I have been going here for years for the English Sunday roast dinner but it has declined of late and last Sun was the final straw. The food was only warm and the meat overdone. Service was terrible especially the bartender who does not know that a can of draught beer has to be poured in one motion into a pint glass!! As for ambiance, it's supposed to be a quintessential English pub, they have Churchill's speech playing in the restrooms, but loud rock n roll in the dining room does not work. there was an audible sigh of relief around the room when they turn on the NFL game, Bucs v Lions. Enough

Great stout spot! Not much of a beer person but boy do they have good beer on tap. We came here specifically for the creamy stout on tap, which a friend has been raving about and it did not disappoint! The vibes here are unmatched. It felt like we were actually somewhere in Europe. Food wise I ordered the veggie sandwich which also for bar food hit the spot. Needless to say, we will be returning and might be our new local beer bar

This is a great British bar. Friendly staff (Carl the bartender is great), well kept beers on tap and home cooked food. We had three trips here during our five day trip to NYC as we enjoyed the hospitality here so much. I am British born and bred and my American boyfriend also loved it. I am blown away by some of the dumb comments about this pub. Maybe its not like your wine bar in Hampstead- get a grip! We met many fun folks here and had a great time. It will become a regular part of our NYC trips when we visit from California.

Horrible place if you're a woman. A guy grabbed me in front of the bartender and no one did anything. I had to shout multiple times to make him let me go. It's not the bars fault that man was harassing women, but to see it and not do anything about it is ridiculous in 2024.

Good if you like a plateful of carrots. You hace to pay extra to get a Yorkshire. Bread pudding was bland and like a rock. The very best thing consumed was an Irish coffee which was passable. Sticky table and very dark. Staff weren't friendly.

First thing you notice when walking in here is how it is festively decorated and has greenery all around. Also loved that on a Saturday night, it's not raucous or ragey (can you tell I'm an old lady?). Everyone is engaged in conversation and it's low-key and more mature than surrounding pubs. Last, there's a long communal table in the middle in addition to a bunch of booths and the bar area. Great place to hang with friends and catch up. Came with two girlfriends and kicked it at the long table. It's just so cozy and relaxing. Service is prompt. They got drinks, I tagged along, so this review might be premature, but I seriously enjoyed spending time here, so I had to tell the world. Trivia night every Tuesday in the upstairs, and loads of British fare, so I'd love to return to have a proper meal.

Happened to stumble by this bar over the weekend, fairly empty on a Saturday night which I appreciated. A solid weekend bar when you're in the neighborhood.

I gave the 2nd star for the atmosphere. Just me and my son. Ordered 2 beers, soda and some snacks. Food is pub level, nothing to complain here. Beer is good. BUT: When the bill came, the beers had other prices than in the menu. I highlighted this and the 2 staff just said that the menu is not updated. I cannot care less!!! Anyway, my low rating is because in such situation you just adjust the bill and not raise shoulders. I took the difference from the tip but i should have not given a tip. Management should train staff for such cases. Come on...is common sense. I will be back since the atmosphere is great, but I'm so pissed when i see so much indifference in some businesses that the city and new-yorkers supported during pandemic.

If ever there were a time for yelp to hand out negative stars... here we are, begin with Churchill. This is abt to be a long one.. Buckle up My friend suggested we have a sunday afternoon bite at this spot I was already hesitant given the location . Boy oh boy did I start side eyeing this place 15 mins in. It was kinda empty, but had a descent menu selection. Here's where is starts going bad and these are the exact steps... 1. We started with cider beers, my friend had a dirty glass so we sent it back, i watched the bartender pour the beer from the dirty glass into a "new/ clean" glass.... I mean what was the pt. The beer is already contaminated by the dirty glass right?!? 2. I ordered the buffalo chicken meatballs, they were dry, barley had any sauce on them.. I didn't finish b/c something was a little off. I didn't make a fuss b/ c i didn't want to order anything else just a few drinks and convo with friends. Tighten your seatbelts 3. The bathrooms had overhead speakers playing Churchill speeches saying the N word... I was caught so off guard that we raised concern with our server.She apologized saying that she was unaware and would let a mgr know . I overhear another patron (white man) sitting at the bar mention to his friends he was triggered by the Churchill speech being played . 4. We get the chk, split the bill and go. We each tipped $11 and signed for a total of $69.25 5. Next day, I grow sick with a stomach bug, food poisoning, had to be the buffalo chicken meatballs. Im sick for abt 4 days this week. 6. Thursday, a few days later after my sunday visit, I check my bank account and notice that Churchill amt posted was $168.25. I immediately call my friend like check your acct, I think they charged the whole bill to me or something but def messed me up.. $69.25 posted to her acct. 7. I traverse back to this what i'm now cursing the most horrible place in NYC with a copy of my signed receipt in my hand b/c i always keep a completed copy for myself. I walk in and immediately ask to speak to a mgr. I tell her what happened... show her my receipt first thing out of her mouth "this isn't a big deal we will fix it" and I will call you. I said no ma'am. I've already been inconvenienced enough. Its the beginning of the month - RENT TOO DAMN HIGH NYC is due ma'am. She is annoyed and said "all you had to do was call" and that she'll go and call the bank but it might not be resolved today, the mgr was trying to make her way to address others that walked in at the same time as me. I don't care, I'll wait until you look into my issue. She comes back still annoyed but apologized saying "I see what happened, the server mistakenly tipped herself $100 when closing you out" LIKE WHAT THE HECK! How is that a mistake and you are telling me no big deal and saying "the bank answered and refunded you but they don't usually answer so nxt time call!" Saying it as if I should be lucky or appreciative. The freaking audacity... Ma'am I am never stepping foot back into this sunken place! We're out here fighting for our lives with inflation especially in NYC and you are saying "its not a big deal" smh! The privilege of being unbothered that $100 was taken from you without your consent must be nice but don't be dismissive and treat others and tell them "its not a big deal" apologize and refund me. Im still waiting on my refund by the way!

Would've gone 3.5 if possible. Food was good, but not outstanding. It was definitely freshly prepared, all entrees were steaming hot. Staff was a bit slow and seemed annoyed to be there, and the room temperature was quite warm. A solid British pub, but not one I'd make a dedicated trip for again.

Tried the food and was not impressed. My guest had a burger with fries. Burger was just OK, fries were greasy. I had the beef and mushroom pot pie which was decent but not something that I would order again. Contemporary music inn dining room. Some Christmas decor. Prices are moderate for Midtown. Service was fine. There is a long narrow table seating 12 people in the back next to the booths. If there was a group or groups at the table the noise level could be a problem.

In one word, AWFUL. Live in the area so have tried to like this place a number of times because it's convenient. Zero vibe, dated and played out space. Bar is usually occupied by the same drunks who are generally confrontational and unpleasant. The bartenders turn their head at customers who try to agitate and start fights with non-regulars and management does nothing to control aggressive customers. The neighborhood has been evolving with many new, modern establishments - this place feels like it is stuck in a Guy Ritchie movie attempting to replicate a media depicted stereotype of a blue-collar English countryside pub, including its never-were loser regulars. Those of us in the area look forward to the day it gets repurposed to something more elegant and civilized.

Excellent place to go to satisfy that Anglophile deep inside you. Started with a Belhaven Scottish Cream Ale and followed that with a Scotch Egg starter. Followed that with a London Pride on tap and the Beef, Mushroom & Guinness Pot Pie with fries (chips). Left full with my inner Anglophile fully satisfied. Will definitely visit again!

3.5 stars. Came here couple of times already but my last visit was already back in Sep 2019. Came here on a Sunday night for Sunday roast. Thanks to Covid, it's chill and not too busy. The staff are nice and welcoming. I ordered an English onion soup. The soup itself is light, sweet and yummy. You can taste the string onion and broth. Would be better if the cheese is a bit burned which would add the flavor on it. The Sunday roast is good. Haven't tried any Sunday roast after Covid so I am so happy to have it. I would hope that the roasted potato to be more crunchy outside. The gravy tasted great but a bit too salty. The Yorkshire pudding is a bit small and maybe a bit too greasy. Maybe too much butter inside. Anyway still have to have Yorkshire pudding with loads of gravy especially it's not easy to find in NYC. Enjoyed the relaxing Sunday night here. Great service especially!!!

My four friends and I came across Churchill Tavern after having a drink at a bar two blocks away. I'm so glad we listened to the Yelp reviews because this bar is wonderful! The ambiance was great. Very cozy and warm and still decorated with lights and garland from Christmas. Perfect for a freezing night outside. We were starving so we ordered a bunch of food and everything was absolutely delicious. Definitely a step above average bar food. We had the sliders, Brussels sprouts with bacon, potato wedges, bacon Mac and cheese, chipotle chicken flatbread, buffalo chicken meatballs and artichoke fries. I would recommend every single one of those to anyone who asked. The drinks were good as well, although my one friend had to send back her cosmo because it was a little on the sweet side. The bartender was apologetic and remade it without any qualms. The reasoning behind 4/5 stars was that the service wasn't that great. While very friendly, the waiters had to be flagged down every time we wanted something or when we were ready for the check. May have just been understaffed for the night. Love this bar and will be back!

Great spot for the vibes and snacks! I didn't try much of the menu so I can't speak to all of the food. We stopped in here before a concert for a snack and a round of drinks. The vibes are immaculate with Christmas-y decorations up by the start of November. English pub vibes all over. Service was friendly and efficient. We were sat at a long table that was also being used on the opposite end - so if you want more privacy ask for that before being seated. The chips and potato wedges were just fine - good portion size and lots of dipping sauce. Between the three of us we almost finished both orders. They have a standard draft list but more variety of beers in cans which is how I got a sour beer. All in all a good spot for a casual hang out especially during the holiday season!

A real British bar in the city?? To quote my friend. He was so excited to find a place in NYC that has a decent full English breakfast and Sunday roast. Not bad for what it was first time trying Yorkshire pudding - interesting for me, didn't expect it to be savory :p my British friend felt it was pretty decent. The gravy was good and the lamb chop & pork tenderloin ( our two choices) were satisfying and he stuffing for the pork was good but felt it was probably prepared the day before as it was a little cold :/ They also had a roasted chicken and beef as other choices. It's decently priced for manhattan and a pretty big portion :p I could not finish it! I think maybe for guys who eat a decent portion it's a good filling meal maybe 3 girls can share two plates (portion wise)

Stopped by for brunch with my SO, sister, and her partner. We came before christmas because it showed up on a link for decorated NYC bars/restaurants. The decorations were definitely pleasant, but the food was slow to come out and not incredibly impressive. I ordered the impossible burger off the regular menu. It was very average. Others ordered the eggs Benedict or English breakfast. No one found anything problematic about the food or drinks, there just wasn't anything especially positive about them either. If you're looking for a bar with a christmassy feel (or one that will tell you a bit about Churchill via speech clips in the bathroom) then you should stop by. If looking for a fantastic meal, maybe skip this one.

Homey, jovial environment. My partner and I are staying a few blocks away. Came here night one (was a Tuesday) and enjoyed drinks, spinach artichoke dip and the plethora of Winston Churchill photos. Came back the next night for a night cap greeted by a fun crowd and were able to tuck away into a cozy booth in the back. If you're looking for unpretentious and relatively reasonable prices this is the place.

We used to visit NYC annually until the pandemic interfered with our plans in 2020. In October, 2021, we were happy to be able to go back and visit the Churchill Tavern again. We usually stay just down the street, so it's a good watering hole before or after jumping on the 6 train. We were very happy to see that they survived the shutdowns. On our first visit this trip, the bartender Blahine was extra kind. Sinead, the manager (?), stopped by and noted that she recognized us as previous customers from our previous visit in 2019, which was very kind. Although we didn't eat at Churchill this trip, we do recommend it. Great traditional Sunday roast and other British pub fare. We hope to be back very soon!

We cane here after work with a few co workers, the happy hour was a good deal, however we came toward the end and they weren't trying to get our order before 7, we had to really flag then down. We ordered a bunch if appetizers which were decent. I ordered the British dip which i really enjoyed and would probably order again. Overall I just wish they were slightly more attentive to our group.

Just a dumpy English pub. But we had an Irish waitress who was sweet. The whisky pours were generous and the chips were crispy. So it was near the hotel. What more could you want, had fun!!

Stopped by Churchill Tavern for lunch with some co-workers and we ended up seating ourselves since there was no hostess or worker to be seen. Eventually a waitress came by to ask for our orders and we all ordered cheeseburgers, a chicken sandwich and a chipotle panini. The food was great, the chicken chipotle panini came with an aloi and it was a delicious pair! I would order that again. Their lunch special (all of the food we ordered were on the special) is about $12 per dish unless you get the entree of the day, which was steak that day, that is $14. I would stop by here for lunch again possibly!
