The food was great, the meatballs were so soft. The octopus was so fresh and soft. Also, you gotta try the dessert stickbutta pie amazing!

Great time with my wife. Servers were attentive and friendly. Answered all the questions for the menu. Quality food and great portion size for the price. Drinks were great as well.

Amazing food and service — definitely coming back! The bread was super fresh, the pork was crispy and flavorful, and the lamb pasta was delicious. Every dish was amazing! The Bloody Margarita was pretty spicy and strong, too!

Great and different and authentic food, unfortunately and very sadly they gave us burnt Bacon. Should pay more attention on every food that is being served to costumers. Sorry but for a restaurant that states to have a Michelin chef is not good. I expected more.

This cake was the most beautiful ever! We could not believe how spectacular it looked. Gorgeous cream swirls & adorned with seasonal flowers. It was also huge & most importantly, delicious. Thick cream cheese & buttercream frosting & a generous layer of citrus in the center. We loved it!

The food here was so delicious. The canolis, the stuffed clams, the radiatorre, the osso bucco, the cookie tray. Everything was incredible. Oh yeah! My cocktail -- the Black Manhattan -- that was worth ordering two. If you're looking for INCREDIBLE food not far from the city, this is the spot. The Michellin guide got this one right.

No wonder others rave about this place. This was my first time dining in this fine eatery and the experience met the hype! The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and extremely pleasant. Every course is prepared to perfection! Highly recommend The Cookery!

We were really excited to eat here as we’ve heard such great things about The Cookery, but we were underwhelmed. The service was slow and the food was a little too experimental for us (the meatballs were undercooked - maybe that’s just how they’re made). I ordered the Crispy Pork Belly and it was overpowering and had too many spices. On the positive front, the staff were nice, pleasant ambience, and the brunch prices are affordable.

Another perfect dinner here! I had to have the dragons blood margarita, which is hot, sweet and sour at the same time! Perfect! Love the smoky rim flavor. We started with the crispy, silky, duck liver cannolis, which were savory and exceptional. we also ordered the meatballs, which were tender and delicious. Of course, I had to have the pork osso Bucco and we tried the rigatoni pasta with the pistachio cream sauce. The entrees were both amazing, with a nice apple compote and polenta accompaniment with the pork. Dream worthy! The pistachio pasta was outrageous! Service was excellent, and our waitress Laura was not only efficient, but very personable and lively. All in all, a wonderful evening at the cookery

Went to The Cookery because we were looking for a place to have a brunch party. Staff was accommodating, pleasant and on point for the most part (waitress never came back with the condiments we asked for). Since it was our first time there, our waitress went over the menu and how the Brunch menu works as a three course meal. Service was fine and a decent ambiance. So where we had mixed feeling came to the food. So the group ordered the follow: STARTERS Chopped Salad (Good) Heirloom Meatball (Good) Pizza Rustica (Disappointed but okay) Crispy Pork (Good) MAINS Ricotta Pancakes (Good) Fried Chicken & Cornbread (Poor) Steak & eggs (Good) SWEET THINGS Stickabutta Pie (Good) Affogato (Good) Rocky Road - Jane's Ice Cream (Good) Lemon Cannoli (Okay) So to explain what was less than good of the selections: Their Pizza Rustica is okay, the disappointment is the fact its not a pizza slice as expected but in fact a slice of cheese pie. Fried Chicken & Cornbread - the chicken didn't look like it was chicken because I believe it was fried in either dirty oil or at least burnt oil (the chicken came out almost black crust). The cornbread was over done thick hard shell top and bottom with a slim soft center. Lemon cannoli was lacking to me since I've had cannoli just about any restaurant and bakery I go to if its on the menu (my favorite dessert). The shell was perfect however the cream filling was missing depth of flavor. Not creamy enough and could use more lemon flavor. The restaurant was busy and looking around guest enjoyed their meals so if you are a regular there you probably know what they do well. The burgers look very good. Since we are not near Dobbs Ferry, we most likely won't be back nor have host our party there.

My family and I used to love coming here for brunch. I've brought friends here for dinner and brunches, and they've always enjoyed themselves. The food is divine, and many if not all, of the menu items are housemade. I came here for brunch with hubbs and our kiddo. I made reservations before we arrived, but we reached much earlier than our reservation time. We were fine with waiting by the bar but it's pretty small and children can't sit at the bar, which makes it difficult when you're waiting for a table. We felt a bit in the way, but no one alluded to that. The hosts were very nice, and gave us menus to check out so that we knew what we would want, once out table was ready. If you're a single diner, or a couple, the table turnover is much faster. You can also dine at the bar. Once our table was ready, we were sat quickly and able to order. We were a bit disappointed, as many of the special items were sold out, but made the most of it. Our kiddo chose the children's menu burger, and we ordered it medium, as per usual. They were busy, but it was odd that her food arrived at the table, well after our appetizers. She was complaining about being hungry, and we had no recourse to inquire about it because the server took a long time to come back to our table and check on us, at all. Children's items usually come before, or at the same time as apps, because they're for kids. What made things worse is that her burger was under medium. We cut it in half and the red liquid seeped out onto the plate. By the time the server came back so that we could express a concern, most of the red liquid was soaked up by the burger bun. It seemed that, at first, the server did not believe our concern. She almost tried to dispute that it was medium and I had to tell her to look at the bun, because it turned red and was soaked. She took it back and then they sent out another that was well done. Surprisingly, the second burger came out much quicker than the first. Had they made the mistake with my burger, I would have been OK to keep it, however, I'm not taking that chance with my kid. Our appetizers were great. Hubby opted for the meatball in sauce, and I had my favorite duck cannolis. We noticed that we waited a long time for our food, in general. A man and his daughter were seated after we placed our orders, and they both received their drinks, food and bill, before we got our mains. I ordered the house burger as my main. When it arrived, it was closer to well done than medium. I chose not to say anything, because I was hungry, and who knows how long I would have waited for a refire. Hubby had their tiramisu pancakes, and absolutely loved them. For dessert, I had their affogato, and hubby had the lemon cannoli. He was full, so he asked to pack it to go. We got a slice of stickabutta pie for out kiddo, which she enjoyed immensely. As I did during my previous visit, I asked for an order of duck cannolis to go, but this time, I was told that I am unable to purchase a la carte, and can only purchase that way at the bar. If you've seen my last review, you'll see that I mentioned that we ordered some items twice. We had brunch on that day as well, and the server did not express any issue with ordering a la carte. I've also visited since then, and was able to purchase additional duck cannolis, for takeaway, with different servers. I was very excited to eat here, as we don't get to stop by as often as we'd like, since moving out of Westchester. What started off as a great brunch expectation, slowly morphed into an unexpected letdown.

The rigatoni with pistachio sauce was inventive and flavorful, with the sauce being slightly creamy but not heavy. Do not expect pesto! The spaghetti with clam sausage was likewise unique and light but satisfying. All the pastas were perfectly al dente. The only critique I have is that all the dishes were on the salty side. The buttery salty potatoes were just that -- buttery and salty. Finally, the duck liver cannoli was fatty and luscious, with a slight sweetness. Definitely the highlight of the meal. Service was alright. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night, so be sure to make a reservation far in advance.

Hands down, our new fave special date spot. We have been searching for spot like this since we moved into the area. House made charcuterie, amazing pastas, fun cocktails, all in a cute setting. Small spot but charming. Staff was great and super patient and had good knowledge of the dishes. We had a lovely dinner and will return over and over again.

Loved this spot for many years! Now that I no longer live in NY, this is my must visit spot every time I'm home. The Sunday brunch has always been a great deal. Some of my favorites are the mozzarella, crostino, and of course stickabutta pie. I love that the menu rotates so there's always something new but please bring back the pork donut!!! On my most recent visit I really enjoyed the pizza rustica. Always a great meal here!

Great service with a casual but romantic atmosphere. We enjoyed our time there. Had the rigatoni and the pork osso buco. I'd give the rigatoni a 4/5. It came with sausage and a pistachio sauce, which really intrigued me. Pasta was perfectly cooked. The bites of sausage were pleasant. I wish the pistachio sauce was highlighted more. It was creamy but more muted and overpowered by the sausage and cheese. Still a tasty dish. The pork osso buco was hands down a 5/5. Perfectly cooked pork. Tender meat. Crispy bits. The apple pairing with the pork worked so well. The polenta was so good. It was lighter than usual and had some tartness which really brought the dish together. Highly recommend. We'll be back to try some of the other plates!

The Cookery Brunch was absolute perfection! Reservations were a must! The $45 3-course brunch was outstanding! The service was exceptional. The staff was friendly and attentive. So much food! We all shared the starters. Here's what we had: Duck Liver Cannoli was our adventurous food try. It was surprisingly good. The Thyme Butter & Jam needs to be jarred and sold! That's how delicious it was. The Crostino, whipped ricotta, truffle honey, thyme, sea salt, and olive oil was decedent and definitely shareable. The Pizza Rustica, parmigiano short crust, ricotta, soppressata, salami, pepper jam was perfection. We could have eaten the entire pie. Main Course: Eggs in Purgatory, Hungry Whoever, and Steak & Eggs Special from the board were all excellent choices! The Stickabutta Pie was sinfully good! Five-star food, service, and ambiance for sure!

The Cookery is a perfectly fine restaurant. Perhaps overhyped but fine. The service happened to be very slow on the evening of our dinner, but I will share that our waiter was very enthusiastic with his recommendations. The food was good -- I think from reading previous reviews I was expecting much more. Do not get the bread basket for $3, it is not worth it. We loved the homemade mozzarella as our starter, probably our favorite meal of the dinner. I'm not sure if we'll return but glad to have experienced The Cookery for ourselves.

Rude management. Manager refused to allow separate checks even when waitress agreed prior to us ordering.

Fabulous !! One of the best in Westchester! This has been a place I have wanted to try for a while, but hadn't had the chance. I recently had Sunday brunch during the holiday season. Cozy casual atmosphere to fit the vibe of this river town. Parking was not the best, food and beverage was very expensive but just like a Taylor Swift, Adele or Beyonce ticket, it is so worth it.

While this place is pretty casual inside the food is pretty elevated. The Crisp Hash Brown and Duck Liver Cannoli were so good at brunch. For dinner I have had the Radiatore which is a lamb bolognese with fresh mint and parm. The mint is critical to this dish. So delicious! It's a great place to get a delicious meal with good service without any pretentiousness.

Perusing Yelp Friend Pat F's page I came across The Cookery. I said oooo I've been there & it was delicious. Wait, what?! I never left a review?! VHAAAT?! And I'm sure I wanted to come here because of Mercedes romps about town. Aaah Mercedes & Pat...... good people! They've taught me a lot. Yelp has been an adventure. But I digress..... Son took me here for Moms day awhile back. The standout for me was the Duck Liver Cannolis & the Donut w/ Pork Cheeks. Exquisite!Everything was delicious & well made. Quality ingredients. Do come but make a reservation. Even that was a bit hard to come by. Enjoy! 4-23-2023

Bookmark: The Cookery = Checked Yelp photos will always get you. That's how they got me all enticed and ready to check The Cookery off my list. I must add, that if it weren't for my ambitious girl Mercedes, I would have been less inclined to venture up to Dobbs Ferry in the first place. Established in 2009, The Cookery's exterior and interior reminds me of an old-world European restaurant, serving a juxtaposition of dishes. Without the forewarning of pics, you'd more than likely walk in thinking to expect one thing, and walk out schooled by another. First Tip: Make Reservations On this particular afternoon, at the height of Brunch hours. It never crossed my mind to make a reservation. Luckily there were enough high tops in the bar area for the hostess to guide us to. Creative Menu: The Cookery's menu lists some dishes that may read ordinary, though once presented it's the total opposite. For instance, the Italian Chopped Salad, tasted and looked nothing like you'd expect. Nice presentation and flavors. Second Tip: Duck Liver Cannoli A creative concept adding a smooth paté into a cannoli shell, with sprinkles of enhancement. Who does that? The Cookery, that's who. This is not your basic, parmigiana of this or parmigiana of that. It's contrary to what's expected from an Italian restaurant. Third Tip: Is it a Tip? For the sake of this review let's call it that. Envy. You may conjure up feelings of envy towards the locals having The Cookery in their backyard, easily being able to enjoy an elevated meal in a chill, old world-modern environment. Will definitely be back.

It was good but not great. 1). This is a bar with tables. Very casual, probably more casual than would be expected for the price point. But the biggest issue that there is only one toilet in the whole place and that isn't sufficient if they are busy. 2). Food: to me everything we ordered was over salted and therefore lacked depth of flavor. The proteins need to have something else to go with them. There are ala cart veggies, but the server should have explained that we would have basically a plate of protein with nothing to balance it off when we didn't order any. 3). Service: how about lack of service. Took 15 minutes for them to bring a beer and a mixed drink. No warmth from the server. No help with the menu. Only one check in with us. 4). Why brag about a surcharge to distribute to "non tipped workers". I am tired of these surcharges, just pay your staff what you think they should get paid and build it into the price of the food. Would I go back? Not as a special trip but if I was there anyway. Note: parking was difficult to find a spot, and the spots are metered.

One of my top fave restaurants in Westchester. Mind blowing food in a laidback, intimate rustic setting. Imaginative and creative menu, incredible execution--flavor and texture combos are stunning. We came for the 3 course brunch (+ 1 drink) and were blown away by the hash brown and duck liver mousse cannoli. Crispy pork polenta with poached eggs was unreal, and the burger is unique and unlike anything you might find elsewhere. Sticka buttah pie is a must try, especially if you like caramel. Staff is very warm, friendly and totally on top of it.

Came to this place for my wife birthday and it really lived up to the great reviews I read. Solid food experience overall. We ordered the duck liver cannoli and that was fantastic, and I'm not even a fan of duck. The cauliflower ravioli was very flavorful, and filling. The service and ambiance was cool. Our waiter knew what he was talking about when it came to the menu and his recommendations.He was also very attentive to anything we needed. The ambiance itself wasn't anything special but it definitely felt welcoming and comfortable. I will be back to try the branzino, but overall a very solid spot to eat.

I had two of the best meals of my life during a business trip to the area. On my first night I had the secret sandwich; on the second I had the ravioli. Cocktails are superb as well; the dragon's blood margarita might be the best cocktail I've ever ordered at a restaurant. Great, friendly service and warm ambiance. I hope I'll get to eat here again!!

The Food is great but the ambiance left a lot to be desired. The awful music blasting in the dining room was obnoxious . For a restaurant with such a high quality menu one would expect maybe a more elegantly appointed use of space, nicer furniture or at very least, table clothes. Outside tables were also a little shabby, but far more serene than the terribly noisy restaurant. We had a very attentive waiter and the food was fabulous! My suggestion: get an outside table and order the Pork Osso Bucco and the Rigatoni

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary here. We sat outside; they have one of the best outdoor set-ups I've seen, and we stayed pretty warm. On Fridays and Saturdays, you must order all the dishes together. This policy didn't appear to be stated anywhere. Seemed kind of odd, but ok. Overall, our dishes were very good. The dessert, the stickabutta pie, was the biggest standout. You should get it. The crostino with whipped ricotta and truffle honey was really good. Savor each bite, as it's $13 for two slices. The pork osso buco was one of the best I can remember having. The cauliflower ravioli was solid, though the texture was tougher than I would have liked. Very robust alcohol menu. Cute inside, though it felt a bit tight. Very bustling. Maybe my feeling was just the result of 2+ years of covid. It definitely feels hip and not pretentious. Our waiter had a very dry humor, which was endearing at first but got a little old as the night went on. Nice guy, though. He didn't offer us anything else but handed us the check. We had to tell him that we actually wanted another round. Again, just not an issue I remember having in a long time. Oh well!

Some of the best Italian food in the area. Very creative recipes, I particularly enjoy the Bone Marrow pasta.

One of my absolute favorite places to indulge and just enjoy a nice night out. Great service, amazing drinks and out of this world food (that's also incredibly fresh and creative) There is not a single thing from this place I haven't enjoyed. So much passion and love goes into the place and you can feel that every time you're there. Such a treat and a staple to Dobbs Ferry.

If I could give a 3.5 I would. Maybe I'm too spoiled from the city lol. I was HYPED UP too much I think The meatballs are huge--you get two. Great flavor and seasoning, and melt in your mouth. Sits in a great marinara sauce. Zero texture though, which I would prefer a char/crisp on the outside of my meatball. More of a meatloaf instead of a meatball haha. But great nonetheless! Broccoli Rabe is nice and bitter, with chili and lime. Cooked al dente. The side of bread is huge and charred, the butter very salty (the way I like it) with great olive oil and ramps on top. The steak was cooked medium rare, however we weren't told there was a sweet caramelized onion on top (which is just personalized preference that I am not fond of mixing my salty+savory). The potatoes with the steak were fried in beef fat, and were very crispy. Could be dry if you don't get ketchup like we did, but that's okay. Cons: they just took the bread and threw it out without asking LOL guuuuuurl it's $9 so just make sure you guys specify to keep it or they'll throw it out. Also didn't refill the water for the table once done. Otherwise, Heather was great!

We came here tonight on a double date. This place has been our radar for months! Super excited to be here. Anthony was our waiter and was super helpful in helping us select our cocktails and entrees. We ordered the charcuterie board and bread and butter for apps. For dinner we had the pork osso bucco, secret sandwich and paccheri. All of which were full of flavor and delicious. Pasta was very creamy, loved it! Even on a hot summer day. I opted for the dragon's blood spicy margarita. Definitely spicy, had a good kick! To finish the night we had the janes ice cream which the hazelnut flavor was spot on, soooo good. Highly recommend.

Came for brunch and loved their prix fix menu! You get one app, one main, one dessert and a drink for $40. For such a great restaurant, that's a great deal! We tried a variety of options and all were delicious!

We went to celebrate my sister in laws birthday last night, my brother had really wanted to return to The Cookery. First things first, they have great whiskey choices with some very reasonable (in today's clime) pricing. I had Weller 12yr old Bourbon, my brother went with Rip Van Winkle 12yr old. My wife and sister in law had mules that they said were great. We ordered up some apps for the table, meatballs - these are big and wonderful, the sauce has a nice acidity and there's just the right amount of flavor, baked clams with beef marrow - this was a miss in our opinions, the beef marrow drowns out any flavor from the clams, it's just too powerful of a flavor. It was good, but overwhelmingly beefy. The best of the apps was the crispy fried octopus with a smoked tomato marinara sauce and pistachio Serrano salsa - OMG - this is just heaven! I'd eat 4 servings of this and call it a meal, the flesh was super tender with a crispy exterior and the sauce with the salsa was just divine. We liked it so much that my brother and I are both going to try and replicate this dish in our homes. Moving on to the entrees, they had run out of the short rib sadly so 3 of us honed in on the pork osso bucco. My goodness what an amazing dish this is! The pork melts in your mouth but the exterior is crispy with such great texture. The creamy polenta is so damn good too! For dessert we let my sister in law pick since it was her day, she went for the savory dessert option - tomato sorbet over olive oil cornbread and whipped ricotta - wow, what an eye opener! I've never had anything like it and would probably never had ordered this, but what a revelation! We are planning on coming back for the whole pig dinner (I've done this twice with my wine group and it's heavenly). Parking in the area is tough as there are so many small restaurants and pubs in the neighborhood, but it's so worth the hunt for a spot. The staff here is always engaging, friendly and timely. It's such a wonderful restaurant.

The food is excellent. I just wish their waitstaff was better. I have been to this restaurant several times. the first couple of experiences were positive. My husband took me for Mother's Day, along with my 5year old son. The service was terrible. The waitperson acted as if we were an inconvenience to her. I didnt ask for any accommodations on anything but she acted very put out. For the amount of money we spent on drinks & food and it also being a special Mothers Day menu etc it should have been better. I definitely would not go there again on Mother's Day and probably will think again before I go back if I ever do.

Food was average. Best thing was the Caesar salad. The bartender could have been much more friendly, but I'll chop it up to her being overwhelmed.

I have been to this restaurant three times for brunch, and it never disappoints. This most recent visit for brunch was exceptional. My partner, best friend and I were out celebrating my birthday and as a first-timer, my friend was blown away. Our server, Mallory, was excellent. When I mentioned that I don't drink alcohol, she had the bartender whip me up a mocktail surprise - without a doubt the best mocktail I've had. Mallory also overheard us talking about my birthday and surprised us with a candle in my dessert, a lovely touch. The food is phenomenal. For a very meat-centric spot, they have some great vegetarian options; I always get the ricotta crostini and their amazing pancakes with strawberry butter and basil (probably my favorite pancakes ever). It's a cozy, warm little spot where the staff is all excellent from food runners to servers to hosts. When I need to spoil myself or have a guest I want to impress, The Cookery is the place to go.

My husband and I went there for a pre-Valentine's dinner and they didn't disappoint! My favorite is the Duck Liver Cannoli and the Rigatoni with Bone Marrow. We also had the Por osso Bucco and that was delicious too. This restaurant is definitely worth it!

Came here for a birthday dinner on a Sunday and it was delicious! We wanted to try their specials which to our surprise they were mostly out of when we sat down for our 7:30pm reservation. Nonetheless, their regular menu will leave you more than satisfied. Appetizers: Arrancini - we got the last order of these and for good reason! One serving was 3 rice balls served over this light cheese sauce. Each ball was pretty large so easily shareable. Duck liver cannoli - not for everyone but I loved it. The consistency of the duck liver was very light and smooth and the flavors paired perfectly with the mint leaf, pistachios and fruit jam. Little neck clams - served with a spicy napa cabbage broth that I wish I had a whole bowl to drink. Was pretty unique and light. Entrees: Bucatini - pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. I didn't think the dish itself was particularly special and would choose the lamb bolognese (had a bite and it was delicious) or bone marrow rigatoni (wasn't on the menu that night) next time. Half chicken - was very moist so I'll give it that. Otherwise wasn't anything special other than the mashed fava beans it was served over. Pork Osso Bucco - must get! The pork is so tender and falls off the bone with a crispy outside. The polenta is also delicious. The portion is also huge. We were disappointed they were out of the stickabutter pie which speaks to how popular it is!

Incredible food service and value!! Must. Try duck liver cannoli and pork osso bucco but save room for stikka butter pie!! So accommodating, excellent service. Very noisy but who has time to talk when you are so busy eating their insanely scrumptious food!!!

Overall a B experience. One of my group left hungry despite an appetizer, a main dish and a side dish. Very busy Saturday night, service was friendly but overwhelmed. One of the servers didn't know which drinks were which. Crowded tables, loud and energetic room. Bloody dragon margarita was delicious but mostly ice. Imperial ale on tap was pumpkiny good but came in a wine glass. Both seemed small for the price. Kale salad was okay but uninspired. Fried octopus was delicious but tiny. Cauliflower ravioli was pure salt and there was no cauliflower flavor. Does cauliflower even have a flavor? Osso buco was just perfect with a fruity compote on top. Pretty decent wild striped bass. Paccheri was undercooked with crunchy and chewy pieces. Stickabutta pie seriously felt like eating a stick of butter. Chocolate polenta was pretty good. They ran out of the market vegetable side dish. When does e restaurant run out of vegetables?

It's fun to leave the Bronx and drive up to Westchester and see what they have. I never know really where to look. Quick search of the best restaurants of Westchester had this pop-up. It looked quaint and cute and it's in Dobbs Ferry, so how can you go wrong. An adorable little neighborhood. So we went in. Not a huge menu but a really well attended to menu. And excellent staff. The bartender was an incredibly gracious and sweet young lady whose personality just made the meal all the better. We have a limited diet choices because of salt and meat avoidance but they had enough for us to eat. The homemade mozzarella was just delightful. And that's not really my thing. I just wish they gave me a little more bread to mop up all of that delicious flavor. The fried octopus literally dissolves in your mouth. Delicate and delicious seasoning. And don't get me started on the Rigatoni. A bone filled with marrow, standing up right covered with rigatoni accented by caramelized onions and seasoning. It's a dish that you literally eat. Just one bite at a time to really enjoy the rich flavor. We had just intended on having these little bites as appetizers and it was so good. We literally ordered another one. I will definitely return for this dish alone. I must say for the meat eaters, the rest of the selections looked incredible.

My first thought after this meal was over was that this place absolutely has five-star potential - it has a super interesting brunch menu, a competitive price point and hard-working staff. It's not quite at the level it needs to be overall, but it's tantalizingly close. I stopped by with one of my chums this past Saturday for brunch at the midway point of our Croton Aqueduct hike. It was a very pleasant, unseasonably warm early afternoon and our preference was to sit outside in their sidewalk, multi-booth setup, but apparently those primo seats require reservations. Fair. We did very little prep beforehand for this endeavor, but something to definitely keep in mind when it's nice out. Luckily it was still early (a little after 12) and we were able to secure a high-top table near the bar with little difficulty. Very interesting interior, with a few random eclectic items like the wild boar head on the wall that I obviously had to take a photo of to accompany this review. Would love to know the back story of that creature. I was a big fan of the brunch prix fixe menu - for $40, you get three courses (an app, entree and dessert), PLUS a boozy brunch cocktail. Really not bad. We both ended up getting a second cocktail in addition to the inclusive one, and we noticed quite a few nearby patrons did the same as well. Win-win for the restaurant, and a rare moment in this inflationary environment where you're getting some legit bang for your buck. I went with the fresh mozzarella app, the radiatore/lamb bolognese entree and the chocolate polenta dessert, along with their bellini, which was more apple cider than peach. Loved the bellini - very unique twist on a classic. The mozzarella was sensational, probably one of the top two or three I've had. It's a little tough to eat without looking like a barbarian, but the toasted bread it came with was surprisingly easy to chew/consume with the mozzy. The obvious direct comp for North Jerseyers is Porta, which has a very similar dish at all three of its locations - this one is better. The radiatore was the low point for me - palate preference-wise, the pasta was a little too al dente, and I was not a big fan of the sauce, which was mostly strands/chunks of tomato versus an actual sauce to help moisten the dish. The lamb chunks were very good though; it's spicy, flavorful and tender, and I was glad to see the portion was pretty generous. I feel like a lot of Italian dishes tend to skimp on either meat or seafood, and there was plenty of lamb throughout the bowl. I honestly wasn't even sure what polenta was, but when the waitress told me it was basically a bowl of s'mores, I was in. Normal s'mores for me loses its novelty pretty quickly, usually after three or four bites. It's safe to say that this held my attention throughout. Delicious and after three decent courses, the perfect portion size. The service was pretty hit or miss - it was clearly a very busy time of day for them and it wasn't unusual to see an employee hurriedly dashing from one section of the room to another; the wait times we did experience clearly were not the result of a waitress goofing off on her phone or anything. But when we sat down, we were told that multiple people would be assisting with our meal, which was a little eyebrow-raising but not necessarily a red flag or anything. But because the assigned individual literally changed constantly, there were a few miscommunications that could have been avoided. For instance, one person told us at the beginning to be sure we knew what we wanted for the app and entrée (not the dessert yet) when the next person stopped by. That next person asked for all three of our selections. It wasn't a huge deal, but this is something that wouldn't have happened if we'd had one assigned, consistent staffer. The service was very good early on, but unfortunately steadily declined thereafter. The apps were out almost immediately, within five minutes. The entrees took significantly longer (though in their defense, five minutes is a tough bar to reach), as did the dessert, but then it took another 25 minutes to get the check. It seemed like there were too many metaphorical cooks in the kitchen, and that with numerous people assigned to us at random parts of the meal, it was almost impossible for everyone to remember their roles. I think they just overthought and overcomplicated their system, and they'd be much better off assigning one waiter or waitress to a particular group of tables. A lot of the food was really good with some creative twists. The potential is here, but The Cookery needs to remember that the intangibles win the day.

The food was amazing! My partner had the Bone Marrow Pasta, while I had the Bone Marrow Rigatoni. Ambiance was great and it felt cozy. Well worth the trip and nearby waterfront views. Staff was very polite and attentive to our needs; even brought out an extra beer when a fly got in ours!

I forget how I heard of The Cookery- it might've been something about the pasta being made in house. Either way it's been two years and we come here when we want great, soul filling food. Specials are always available, service is relaxed with great recommendations. The space is cramped so I recommend coming here as a party of 4 or less. It isn't loud enough where you are yelling over music, but when busy it's not the place you want to have a serious conversation. Whatever the secret sandwich is get it. The drinks? Can't go wrong. Beef fat potatoes? Yes. Recently where here for brunch for the first time and I almost want to gatekeep that it's my new favorite brunch spot. If the weather is nice grab a seat outside before sunset. It's off a quiet street that has a nice cross breeze. Take someone who's company you enjoy and treat them to a nice meal.

Came here for date night and the food was incredible. Started off with a mocktail that was custom made based on my preference for something sweet and fruity and unit was delicious. I got the meatballs to start and it was cooked to perfection. For my main i went with the branzino in a nice sauce with contrasting veggies on top. Nice pairing. I'm not usually a desert person but the waitress described the stickabutta pie and I'm glad i went for it! Literally amazing and i savored very bite. Our waitress was very accommodating and the food came out quickly.

The frothy smell of butter emanates from the wood at The Cookery, as if it has always been there. Since visiting this staple of Dobbs Ferry in the Hudson Valley, I cannot get the phrase "Bib Gourmand" out of my head - this is not just because this formidable yet homey restaurant helmed by Chef David DiBari has earned the esteemed accolade by that name from the Michelin Guide in 2020, 2021, and 2023, but because the sound of the words, the feeling of the phonemes on my tongue, the picture in my head when I say it makes me think of my meal there in every way. A bowl of the intuitively named Buttery Salty Potatoes made me wonder how I've never made a potato so crisp on the outside and silken on the inside. It reminded me to ask my grandmother how she used to make her roasted version of the tuber my sister and I so enjoyed as kids. Its starch cousin, the paccheri with ricotta cream, lemon, and toasted sesame was similarly lipid, satin, and cavernous with bite to the pasta and tang to the pepper along with lemony bitterness. While dining at this grunge-meets-gourmet spot, be prepared to take leftovers home. As a vegetarian, I entered the door worried that there wouldn't be enough meatless options in a house that values its carnivorous preparations (known for a signature whole, brined swine), but I was glad to report that the options available were well worth the trip from Queens and would be worth coming back for (though I would love even more of the flora they do so well, because I can't imagine it leaves anything wanting compared to the meat dishes). My one learned lesson for those planning their visit to this welcoming, side-street establishment, replete with knowledgeable staff and the vivacious hum of patrons, is to leave room for dessert. While this seems trite, I mean it. While I surely enjoy a sugary finish to my meal, I much prefer the savory and am more likely to order an extra appetizer than to save room for a final course. Don't make this mistake: the chocolate polenta with taut marshmallow and brittle cannoli cookie had me wondering if somehow Italy does celebrate the Fourth of July. Don't miss it. -M.R., Queens, NY

A concise review of our second dinner experience at the Cookery in Dobbs Ferry, New York. TLDR: Would recommend! Phenomenal, balanced flavors. Truly appreciated the food here after seeing the chef on TV. Service: Excellent service. Our waitress was kind, chill, and attentive. We never had to chase her down, partly due to the restaurant being small. She checked in often, said "cheers" a lot which stuck with us. Unique experience. -Only thing was the food took a while to come out, but it was well worth the wait! Wait: Less than 5 minutes, we were on time for our 5:15 reservation. Bar: Didn't sit at the bar but it appeared to be popping. Drinks: Neither my fiancé or I drank this night. I got my lips done so I couldn't have any alcohol. Appetizers: -My fiancé did not care for the duck cannolis but he's not really into that stuff-- he said he could appreciate the merit and taste. I, on the other hand, thought they were phenomenal. The cold savory fatty duck with the sticky sweet topping and the crunch paired beautifully. -We also enjoyed the meatballs, their signature dish. They were delish and moist-- just as we remembered. They were ginormous too. Sides -Buttery salty potatoes-- I mean come on, these were to die for... just as we remembered. These are a MUST! Good luck squeezing into your jeans after, though. -Broccolini was delish, but a little too oily for my liking. My fiancé loved it, though. -I got the salad for my entree... it was interesting. Very unique and different, a little too peppery for my liking. I genuinely appreciated how unique it was though, and crisp as well. Entrees: -My fiancé got the spaghetti with the clam and pork sausage. He said there was nothing bad about it, it was really good. All the flavors were there, it was very balanced... nothing was too overpowering. The appearance was interesting and he had never had a seafood sausage but was not disappointed! Dessert: We got the stickabutta pie and oh my god, we were so stuffed at this point that each of us had a bite and took the rest home. My god this was amazing, I definitely gained an extra pound after finishing it. Environment: Intimate, mildly loud but I like it like that, dark ambiance. The decor was unique too. Experience: Overall great experience.

Excellent food and service in a surprisingly casual dining room. Not casual in a bad way, just very homey. Deserves its excellent reputation.

Food here is amazing. Not many people in Westchester know about this place. We have dined here many times and it is consistent service and food.

My fiance and I went on a double date here on a Friday night with a reservation. The wait time was not as ideal as they were packed and double booked despite our reservation. We were waiting about 20-30 minutes for our table. The ambiance is pub style and quite noisy so not ideal if you want to chat amongst your table. We were shouting over one another. For apps we ordered the charcuterie board which came with assorted meats, cheeses and breads. The meats were not fresh and tasted stale. The cheeses were standard. But I will say what lacked in apps totally made up for it in entrees. Entrees were DELICIOUS. I would recommend the osso buco which was fall off the bone. You have to get the beef fat potato's they are amazing the flavor is bursting and I would go back there just for those. I ordered the market fish which was delicious and well seasoned. Desserts were great too we got the stick a butta cake which was yummy as well. Overall I would say give it a try entrees wont disappoint but skip the apps.

Another outstanding restaurant recommendation from Westchester Magazine & Restaurant Hunter. After visiting The Parlor last week, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at The Cookery this past Thursday and we were so happy we did. My wife had The Pork Osso Buco while I had their pasta special dish with suckling pig pork. Both dishes were stellar especially with a bottle of my servers recommended white wine. For appetizers we had their mozzarella and house made meatballs which were to die for. Service was amazing In addition to the atmosphere, and delicious food and extensive menu. We will return for more !!!

Wow such a awesome place and parking was easy,as soon as your inside you get a great vibe. The food was really delicious you can really tell the kitchen loves what they are doing. The drinks and food were served quick and the staff were all attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
