"Owner John Rivers has poured a fair bit of thought, effort, and money into making the takeout and curbside experience at the Coop as pleasant and convenient as humanly possible. Drive-thru stations with clear signage were implemented early on, followed by a grocery and pantry service, family meal kits and charcuterie boards – all this in addition to the Coop’s southern classics of chicken-fried steak, low country shrimp and grits, meatloaf, and the like." - Faiyaz Kara

"While Orlando is in the south, it’s not really a Southern city. If you’re looking for some proper Southern food though, you can find it at The Coop in Winter Park. This place specializes in fried chicken, which you should definitely get, but they also serve po’boys, shrimp and grits, and plenty of traditional sides, if a bucket of chicken isn’t what you’re after. They also serve breakfast seven days a week, which includes classics like chicken and waffles and biscuits with gravy. Just make sure to schedule a nap for afterwards if you stop by." - Maddy Zollo Rusbosin

I want to start this review out by saying this place is a gem. The chicken is delicious, the mashed potatoes top tier, and the coconut dessert we had was divine. Everything was tasty, but some was nothing to write home about. The fried okra was okay. I love fried okra and make it every special occasion. It was my favorite Sunday staple growing up, and this dish here, while good, was not the best. It came out a little cold and some pieces didn’t have any flavor at all. The macaroni wasn’t anything special. It was edible, but lacked any flavor other than salt. We ordered a couple different sauces to go with our chicken plate. The white sauce is good, but is not traditional. It’s the consistency of ranch. The honey mustard was okay. The chicken and waffles were our favorite out of the two entrees. The sweet waffle and savory chicken paired really well together. I enjoyed putting a little pepper sauce on the chicken to give it a little kick as well. Overall, we will be back and I will edit my review accordingly. We had just got there right before a big rush and that could have honestly been the issue with a lot of my complaints. My biggest one being was that it took nearly 40 minutes to get our food. I don’t care to wait, but it’s disheartening to see people who ordered after you not only get their food, but eat and leave before you even get your meal. Everyone was super friendly and the place is cute.

This was a nice, casual place for a reasonably priced breakfast! I really liked the counter service vibe, it was pretty unique for a place that isn’t fast food. I was there on a Sunday morning at 8am and it wasn’t busy at all. I had the Caramelized French Toast and it was good! My partner had the Chicken & Waffle Benedict and he also liked it! Nothing too rave about, but I would come back.

Google
The red velvet pancakes were amazing; no syrup needed. The chicken scramble (with pieces of chicken tenders) was very savory. The biscuits and gravy were like none other I had ever tasted. The piece of fried chicken was not greasy and very tasty. The cinnamon roll had great taste but was a little dry, perhaps because it was a corner piece. Joey V says, "Check It Out !"

Google
The wait was insane but this place is awesome. Their food is so so so good, especially their chicken and waffles. My omelette was great but that fried chicken was heavenly. From their pumpkin pancakes to their peanut butter cookie with Reese’s, everything was delicious. Highly recommend!!

Google
Great place! First time there. Nice, friendly and accommodating staff. We had a larger group and were able to find one of the unique larger tables to dine at. I tried the catfish and grits with egg, it was really good flavor on the catfish and was perfectly cooked! The pancakes had a great flavor to them, some of the best I've had at a restaurant (bold I know, but true). The egg was perfectly cooked as well. Chicken was super moist and fresh. The biscuit and gravy were just right. All of the dishes were just the perfect amount of food for each dish. Nice unique place and for large or small groups. If you have a few minutes to look around, check out all the cool photos of the show chickens on the walls. Enjoy!

Google
First time going was great. I tried out their chicken fried steak and it was wonderful. The serving size is huge also. The restaurant itself is a mix of old furniture, which my wife fell in love with. The staff is very friendly and we were even given a free desert because we had to wait on a side item without us complaining at all. We will give it another try for sure.

Google
Ok this place is cool looking and has a southern charm theme which it definitely stick to through the restaurant. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The dessert selections are very delicious. The chicken is seasoned to perfection. The problem...? All of the food is seasoned the same way, so the chicken and potatoes and bacon taste the same. I don't want all of my food to taste the same, their should be distinct differences-flavor wise-between bacon and chicken. Also the way you get your food is a bit chaotic because servers have to search for the table you're sitting at. They might as well invest in a PA system and call your number to grab your food. Having a server go table to table asking whether or not you ordered something is annoying for them as well as the person who has to keep getting excited for food that turns out NOT to be theirs. The potential here is great however the execution could use some improvements.

I have never been here before, let me tell you...FANTASTIC. The ambiance was perfect and so quaint. It wasn't crazy inside but there was a consistent line. The concept is perfect and a great place for people with big families or have family in town. The food, so fresh and tasty. The fried green tomato grilled cheese, outta sight. The chicken tenders were crispy and juicy. Corn 🍞, top notch. Go and check this place out.

Yelp
The COOP has closed its doors. This is sad news as this restaurant, which served southern comfort food, was a great location with a friendly staff, had a good-sized layout and had the same successful ownership as 4 Rivers behind them. Orlando, Florida saw quite a few restaurants leave us in 2023. The COOP was a great destination for southern favorites and I had some good meals here. I get that the only thing that stays the same is the fact that things will change and we will lose some great restaurants (and we can hope that we will get some wonderful new restaurants opening here in Orlando, Florida). The COOP shall be missed.

Dan J.

Yelp
Sad news the COOP is closing We will miss the best fried chicken in central Florida.

Brittany N.

Yelp
RIP to The Coop. Pros: Lot a lot of places in Central Florida serving up authentic Southern food. They understood that the sides of a meal are equally as important as the main meat of that meal. Okra was not slimy, cornbread was not dry, the slaw was finely diced, which I loved. The chicken had such a delicate breading that was not too oily, AKA perfect. Cons: Some of the bigger pieces of fried chicken were a little dry, but it makes sense, can't serve undercooked chicken under any circumstances. Hushpuppies were not good, never were. Sorry. Tips: Start a petition to bring it back?

Yelp
We went to brunch around winter park and we came across this place. It was really nice because parking is just right outside and place was pretty empty on a thursday morning. So they let you order your food on the counter then they give you a number then you pick a table to seat. Its like a fastfood style. I like the vintage style interior and they have big tables which is good especially for family like us with kids. For food my husband got the family dinner 12 pieces of chicken with 3 sides and 6 biscuits. He picked a side of fries, biscuit and hush puppy. I ordered the shrimp and grits. So for the chicken its good but the skin is a little too salty for me, the biscuit was a little dry, the hush puppy is good. Its savory and have that onion flavor. My shrimp and grits was good. It was big serving and I like the cheesy and buttery flavor of the grits. Honestly it was a lot and we took the leftover at home. Overall I think they just have to work on improving some of their food like the chicken skin being too salty and make that biscuit a little fluffy. Why 4 star? because this place is so welcoming especially when you are a mom with small kids. This place makes it easier for me. So kid friendly and my shrimp and grits was good and I want to try their other brunch menu. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
I have enjoyed the Coop since they opened. Owned by the same company as 4Rivers, the feel is similar but with a more southern fare rather than BBQ. I usually opt for the 2 tenders meal but have enjoyed several other items including the new*er chicken sandwich and have really enjoyed the spinach salad with a tender added. I don't come here often since it's not terribly convenient for me so a few things to add that I noticed on my most recent visit. Firstly, the menu has some expansions with more entree selections, a few new sides, burgers, and chicken sandwiches to name a few. Additionally, it looks like their hours are now primarily breakfast/lunch which is fine for me since I'm usually on this side of town for work and come at lunch time anyway. Ok so for the food, they now have a Nashville style option and I tried this on my last visit. I didn't feel like have a whole sandwich and hack: if you want Buffalo or Nashville style they will do the tenders tossed in it as well. The Nashville is not as hot as other places, but definitely a step up from the Buffalo, but my heat-lovers might be slightly disappointed in the Nashville. The Nashville style is very saucy, less of the dry-rub type I'm more accustomed to but the flavor is there. For the sides I love their coleslaw, collard greens, Mac n cheese. I used to like their fries but this last visit was a stark difference from past experiences here. The fries tasted like boring, frozen and poorly re-heated ore-Ida fries. Idk what was up with that but I really didn't end up eating them since they just were awful. The service wasn't really anything to run-home about. It was ok, but I found it frustrating the computers were having major issues and the cashiers seemed flustered by it too. They always do a great job keeping the dining area clean and coming around to ask if you need anything though. Food came out hot and quick. Overall I enjoy coming to the coop for lunch with my coworkers. Be sure to check out their desserts, every now and then I treat myself to something from the dessert case. YUM!

Yelp
First of all, this is a order then sit type of place. Vegas a very homey feeling to it. Help yourself to the utensils and drinks and condiments at the self service bar. Very cute. Everyone was so kind and seating is constantly rotating. The wait for food was normal around 15 minutes from ordering to served.

Dennis H.

Yelp
The Coop was a pleasant dining experience, which you would expect from the people who started with 4Rivers. The food was good but the chicken was t that crispy. The young ladies who took our order answered all of our food allergen questions and were very patient and fun. Food was brought out quickly. It's a cozy place that feels like somewhere you could snack and chat with friends in, if it wasn't too busy. Good place to eat if you don't want to wrestle with the Winter Park waits.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
The interior decor has a very down-home, southern feeling with mismatched chairs and rustic tables. The menu has a lot of really nice options, but the overall execution isn't quite right. The chicken itself is good, it didn't have any of what I would call "chicken surprise" and wasn't dry. That being said, the buffalo chicken was not very spicy and the hush puppies were very hard and dry. The restaurant was lightly busy, but not jammed packed or anything during lunchtime and yet to get our food took about a half an hour. It's worth a try and I could see where this menu might have a hidden gem on it, but I wouldn't say we lucked out with it on this visit. The potential is definitely there though so we'd give it another try.

Chan'tial V.

Yelp
The location is beautiful, feels homely and rustic. Everything is clean and the staff is helpful and courteous. The first visit we ordered the chicken club sandwich- chicken was dry and not seasoned well. Mediocre Tenders also mediocre Cornbread- gross (just use jiffy) The 2nd visit ordered the pot pie which was good nothing to write home about though. Mash was bland even with the gravy and so was the mac&cheese - I feel like nothing was cooked- it's suppose to be southern put the food had no soul or passion in it The coop burger- Yes, I know it's a chicken place but who the heck don't know how to make a decent burger . Also it's named after the place so it should be a signature burger- they are around the corner from many quality meat markets ( The local butcher, wildfork, etc). All this to say- I know for a fact that patty was a frozen premade one for the store (had my share of them at kid birthday parties to know), dry, flavorless. It was so awful not even the green tomato or pimento cheese was worth anything. The fries were dry, unsalted, and mushy. I really don't mean to roast this place but I really wanted to like them and tbh I might go back sometime in the far future to try to find something worth visiting- the menu is long and something has to be good, It's in Winter Park for heaven's sake.

Yelp
The atmosphere of this place was super cute and even though it was busy and seat yourself, it was pretty easy to get a table. I was excited about this place, but it ended up just being mediocre for me. The staff was friendly-ish but seemed more focused on moving from customer to customer in line rather than answering the questions I had about the menu. I got a pretty standard breakfast with eggs, potatoes, bacon, pancakes and a biscuit. The biscuit was the best part of the meal and I wish I had gotten some gravy to go with it. But it was flaky and buttery and delicious. The pancakes tasted funny- maybe too much butter or some other flavor I couldn't place but they weren't great. My eggs were cooked perfectly and my potatoes were also okay but had quite a bit of rosemary which I didn't love either. My friend got the chicken and waffles eggs Benedict. And again, cooked beautifully but not a dish I'd go for. I don't love mixing the sweet syrup with the savory eggs. She said the hollandaise sauce was pretty meh, but the rest of the dish was good.

Hannah M.

Yelp
They had one of my favorite benedicts of all time! The combination of classic chicken & waffles with the egg and hollandaise elements really elevate both dishes in the best way! I also loved the variety of indoor and outdoor seating. While the parking lot is a little small, it's free and near a lot of street parking. Overall, it's perfect for quick eats and large groups!

Robert R.

Yelp
The decor is very cute. The seating area is an eclectic collection of mismatched tables and chairs. The walls are decorated with farmhouse and southern art and photos. The food is fresh made, so it takes a minute from when you order to get your food. To entertain the young ones, there is a basket of books to read with them while you wait. The portions are generous and the food was very good. We didn't try the desserts, but they had huge cupcakes, cinnamon rolls as big as your head, and cookies equally as large.

Amy T.

Yelp
They give it back to their community by providing free sandwich Coupons for volunteers. It's much appreciated. The food here was fresh and high-quality. The ambience is very eclectic and feels like you're eating at someone's kitchen table. The service is fast.

Emily B.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast after going to the local farmers market. Very neat find! The food was tasty and the service was very good! The seating is first come, first serve. While we went really early in the morning, I could see how it could be busy and potentially hard to find a seat later on throughout the day. Overall we would come back again and highly would recommend coming to try it if you haven't already!

Marilyn S.

Yelp
Great chicken! My companions were very happy we chose this place! It of that newer style service where you order at counter and the bring to your table when order is complete... seems to be the norm around here for many newer places. Fried green tomato BLT was tasty, would have liked my bread toasted more but that is my preference. It was still a great sandwich! Tenders were perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. Dining area is spacious and accommodating! Check it out!

Krzysza K.

Yelp
Decided to try this local favorite & it was delicious! The chicken & waffle Benedict was to die for & we also shared French toast & I had the coop scramble. We did notice my chicken was saltier than the one on his Benedict & the food overall came out lukewarm but the flavors saved it! Refillable drinks a plus too with soda & coffee stations. Atmosphere & decor is a cute farmhouse look with live flowers in different vases on every table which I thought was a nice touch. Lots of big tables for families as well and we came early on a Sunday around 9:30 and place was almost full!

Aliya H.

Yelp
I arrived at The Coop around 1:30pm. The line was long and I waited for about 12 minutes to order. I ordered the fried catfish with 2 sides: grits and macaroni and cheese. I was less than impressed. The macaroni was similar to a boxed macaroni, the grits were ok, and the catfish was not- the breading came off easily, the fish could have been fried a little bit longer, and it lacked a little flavor. I've been here before, years ago, but this time made it so I may not be back for a while.

Kristen M.

Yelp
Best advice: order breakfast. Chicken sandwiches and salads are good, but just good. Everyone at our table raved if they ordered breakfast. Breakfast is served until 3 pm every day except Sunday (until 2 pm). This restaurant is owned by 4 Rivers Smokehouse, but it doesn't have that unique, delicious twist that 4 Rivers brings to BBQ. I had a spinach salad that was large with cheddar, bacon, cranberries and walnuts. Can add a protein like fried chicken. Choice of 4 dressings (none of them Low FODMAP friendly). It was fresh with lots of toppings. Verdict at the table was breakfast was great. Only downside is the fried chicken in the egg scramble dish gets soggy crust. Fried green tomatoes were disappointing with a lot of crust. Pepsi products on tap with bottle Coke products which was nice. You do counter order with table serve. Cute interior with a mishmash of old tables and chairs. With so many great options in Winter Park, this was is not worth a repeat visit.

Mathew S.

Yelp
This was the recommended by my family in Florida and it did not disappoint. We came to the coop for breakfast/brunch and we're happy to get a chance because their hours are so unusual. Definitely lived up to the hype and definitely worth the wait. The food was delicious, albeit it took some time to come out (20 minutes) after waiting on line for 20 minutes. The decor feels like you're eating in someone's countryside dining room and absolutely fit twill with the food. I ordered chicken and waffle Benedict and it did not disappoint. Parking wasn't too difficult. Definitely make the trip here. You won't regret it.

Rebecca W.

Yelp
Sorry not sorry. They fucked up in the kitchen today. My partner got the undercooked egg and asked for a well done egg. But they fucked that up too Based on the appearance alone I had low expectations and they still didn't reach the bar. It's a no for me. Save your money and go anywhere else

Derek L.

Yelp
The COOP was recommended to me via a friend who saw a post on reddit for hot lunch spots in orlando. However, my experience was less then extraordinary. The staff/ team were friendly but the small portions and mediocre food ruined my experience here. I got fried chicken benedict waffles and you recieve half of a beguim waffle with two small pieces of chicken and 2 overcooked eggs. It sits and takes up about 30% of a standard 10.5" plate. For a $10+ meal, I expected more. And that would've been ok if the food blew me away but mediocre is the operative term for the entire restaurant and I will not be returning.

Gina W.

Yelp
First time trying their Avocado Toast and it will be calling me back. I love a good avocado toast and this may have been the best I've ever had. The toast is soft and a good size. The avocado is fresh and plentiful. It is topped with roasted tomato- which gives it incredible flavor. The fresh greens on top with the light dressing is perfection. We popped in this morning for a quick bit before an appointment and the service was fast and friendly. The coffee was also wonderful.

Klea J.

Yelp
Quick easy southern food, but don't expect too gourmet! I would say, it's a step up from your crackle barrel options though! Great for large groups with indoor and outdoor seating! - chicken and waffle eggs Benedict. I really enjoyed their fried chicken! It was the most flavorful out of anything we ordered. But the sizing was smaller than what I expected with the size of the waffle. - smoked salmon eggs Benedict - it was a special so we decided to try it. It wasn't exceptionally memorable, but the smoked salmon flavor does get muddled with the hollandaise sauce - fried catfish - this was the larger option and I was a little disappointed in the size. Only make me wonder what the smaller portion was. Can't go wrong with lightly fried battered fish! Paired with the cream corn and coleslaw, it was a good balance. As long as you come at a good time on Sunday, this place can get packed easily. The decor gives me old country going to grandmas house and I love the decor theme they go with. Order up front then they bring you your food. I would give it a 3.5 rather than a 4, but I'll give the extra .5 for the service. The table runner who dropped off our food was attentive and helpful. Would I go back? Yeah, I would!

Tariq J.

Yelp
I came in around 5:30 pm before they closed at 7pm, not a great idea. Ordered the 2 piece chicken meal with 2 sides. The sides I chose were mashed potatoes and gravy and corn. The chicken was really crispy and had nice seasoning on the breading. It was a little too peppery but had a lot of flavor. The corn side was amazing, it was a creamed corn that was sweet and creamy and so, so good. The mashed potatoes and gravy came out cold. The gravy was even congealed a bit. It looked a bit like brown jello. The flavor was not there either. The meal also came with a biscuit that was hard and not very good. I think these mishaps were a result of being there so close to closing time. I think being there closer to lunch rush may have gotten me fresher sides.

Madison L.

Yelp
We love the coop! We came for Sunday brunch. I got the classic chicken sandwich with fries and a mimosa and my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles with collards, Mac and cheese, and corn bread. The tenders were perfectly battered and well seasoned. The food was served quickly and kindly by the staff. Everything was good, though my sandwich was a bit dry. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star review was that our server forgot my mimosa and we had to remind them twice to bring it to us. There was also a manager that while very kind, checked in on us too frequently. She came to our table 4 times anxiously asking if everything was ok. We really appreciated the effort, but after a while, it was a bit intrusive and she approached us mid conversation to interject. We'll definitely be coming back!

Stephen I.

Yelp
Local businesses are the HEARTBEAT of any city and spots like the COOP make you feel right at home even if you've never been to the area before. If you want a taste of good southern cooking, look no further! I had the chicken and waffles and it's easily in my Top 5 C&W EVER. The chicken is the most important part of this dish and it's seasoned well while maintaining tenderness. It's served on a fluffy waffle drizzled in their house made Bourbon Syrup If you're ever in the Orlando area, you'll want to make a stop by the Coop!

Chelsea S.

Yelp
Oh my goodness! All around five stars. This service was fantastic. Everyone was so pleasant and friendly. The restaurant is more of a cafeteria style. You hop in line and they bring it to your table. Unfortunately they were out of Texas sausage and bloody Mary's but the mimosa and bacon were great substitutes. We had the roasted chicken with green beans and Mac and cheese with skillet cornbread and the Coop Combo with bacon, grits, cheesy eggs, and a waffle! It was so much food and was absolutely incredible. This is home style cooking at its best. Can't wait to come back!

Morgan L.

Yelp
First time having but my parents love this place. It was delicious and pretty quick service. Chicken had nice kick to it but not overwhelming either. Place was cute and spacious I'll come back.

Zack W.

Yelp
Chicken and Waffle Benedict: The chicken was dry and chewy like it had been sitting under a warmer for a while. It wasn't fresh at all. Waffles weren't warm and almost a little chewy as well. The eggs were great. The Giant Chicken Tender with Sausage Gravy and an Egg: Also decent. Biscuit was great but they shouldn't call it a "giant" chicken tender; More like chicken nugget. Sausage gravy was okay. Overall everything was just decent. If you're in town looking for a great breakfast place, Briarpatch is excellent.

Mena M.

Yelp
After all these years, I still like the coop! Their food is well seasoned and not salty like most southern restaurants in the area. Their chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, and all the sides are a hit in my book. I like that the tables are community seating and we've sat two families on opposite ends of the tables and had enough social distancing yet close enough for pleasant conversations. I haven't been there for brunch in a while so I'll be gathering my girlfriends soon for a nice brunch in Winter Park with shopping afterwards to walk off our delicious calories.

Ayana H.

Yelp
This place has fallen off. They really missed the mark with fried chicken, sides and shrimp & grits. We dined in on a Friday at 5:15pm. I was shocked at the menu prices and the portions. The sides were small and the dishes were ehh, just regular, nothing special. The shrimp &grits were overpriced for the portion and size of the shrimp. The fried chicken was dry and very salty. The collards were too sweet and more smoked meat than collards. Mac&cheese tasked like a kids meal like entree. We even got a cookie from the dessert bar and it was crumbly and dry. Just an all around poor experience, except for the staff. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.

Nicole J.

Yelp
while I love the chicken which is seasoned to perfection the sides don't quite level up to the chicken. I definitely recommend for breakfast over lunch. One perk is that it is never too crowded and always enough parking. Also love the window on the side of the building for easy pickup without having to go inside.

Vergil S.

Yelp
In may of 2022 I wanted to try this place out, give it a go you know? And then ALL OF A SUDDEN.... I saw the menu. I got a Poutine and chicken and waffles and this tasted amazing. The syrup wasn't sticky, it was practically sweet, with the chicken having a kick and the waffles having that classy waffle taste.. (My mouth is watering now) Then it was time for breakfast Poutine, and oh my lord... Was it consisting of crispy fries, and all the stuff that goes in a breakfast... Poutine. I than tried the Nashville hot chicken, it as crispy and piping hot outta the fryer!!! I also had a regular chicken sandwich, honestly better than popeyes. And in general a underrated place to munch!!

Flash J.

Yelp
Hear me out this is a review based solely on the food because the service was pretty good. But dear god the food here is just not good this is my second try and I never do a review unless I've tried it multiple times and each time the main attraction (the chicken) was just awful. It's entirely too salty to a point where it's inedible. I got the chicken and waffles and my wife got the catfish and grits the fish was fried nicely but it was very fishy tasting and I'm almost certain the filet was frozen. The grits were cooked well a bit bland though the highlight of each meal was the biscuit and waffle both were very good. I'll likely not be returning here which is unfortunate because they have a great outdoor space. Prices: are decent for what you get. Service: Everyone was really helpful.

Lisa P.

Yelp
First time visitor. I was going to Zaxby's but I was in Winter Park so I thought I would try them out...MISTAKE! I ended up with a salad with ZERO chicken on it! Ordered the Herb Roasted salad. Tried to call them- phone goes to voicemail... Thanks for a horrible lunch Coop

David P.

Yelp
Great spot! After ordering, the food came out very quickly and was delicious! The decor makes you feel at home visiting your Southern grandma's house. Everyone was friendly and made sure you were taken care of. Check it out if you get a chance, you won't regret it!

Sergio T.

Yelp
We've been to the COOP before but this is my first time reviewing them. We haven't been to the COOP in a few years and we were hoping to receive the same level of food and customer service that we were provided back then. Sadly, today's visit left a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended). First, we ordered our food and when it finally came out it was cold and there was blonde hair on my mother-in-law's chicken. I walked back to return the entree and just wanted my money back. My mother's food was cold but she was so hungry that she told me "I'll just eat it" because the food took so long to come out. My wife and I ordered a cinnamon roll but it never came out. After I initially went to return my mother-in-law's food, I went back a second time but this time it was to remind them of the cinnamon roll that we ordered. The manager herself told me she would bring it out to our table so I went back to finish my food. By the time everybody finished, there was no cinnamon roll to be found so I went back to the counter a third time to ask for my money back for the cinnamon roll. Even the cashier was like "She [the manager] didn't bring you the cinnamon roll?" almost in disbelief. Our previous visits years ago were never this bad and it's sad to see a once good place lose it's quality.

J Matt S.

Yelp
Well, we FINALLY got around to trying the coop. It's been on our list of places to try for a long time. I'm giving it 4 stars, and I feel like I'm being pretty generous in doing so. While placing my order, I asked: " Which is better, the Chicken Parm or the Chicken Cordon Blu?". The server disappointingly let me know they were out of both. OK. For my wife, I attempted to order the Toasted Coop Club sub. They were out of that too! What is going on here? I ended up ordering the Toasted Buffalo Chicken Sub. It was DAMN GOOD. It's basically the reason for the 4 stars. I loved it. My wife had the Classic Chicken Sandwhich, which was decent, as were the fires. We REALLY liked the biscuits also. There was an issue with one of the food items, but the restaurant made it right when we brought it to their attention, so I'll leave out the details on that. Overall, we're kind of left with mixed feelings on this place overall. I feel like this place could be really good with a little more TLC and attention to detail.

Yelp
My family and I chose to visit The Coop for lunch on a Saturday. We went around 12:00 and it was very busy. Our food took FOREVER to come out. Turns out they boxed it up as a to go order on accident and forgot about it. Needless to say, it was cold when we got it. Pancakes and fries are two things that do not taste the same when cold but they were still good given the situation. The fried chicken and maple bacon were yummy. The grilled chicken salad was okay. The biscuits were out of this world! Love the interior of the restaurant as well. The manager was very nice and even gave us a gift card to make up for the mishap.

Yelp
So i sorted & only read the one star reviews, did not scare me with the current 3.5 average, my 5 star today is reflective of all the locals in winter park that have never heard of 'yelp' and will keep the Coop thriving for a long time, secret menu item (ask for 'the goo' on your cinnabon)

Yelp
The Coop never fails to deliver! My son chose it for lunch on the way home from college since it's one of his favorites. I got the fried chicken meal - perfectly crunchy on the outside with just the right amount of spice; moist and tasty on the inside. Loved the crunchy bits on the Mac & cheese and the fried okra was so fresh I wondered if it had just come out of the garden. The texture of their biscuits is SO unique and scrumptious! We came at a slow time and the entire staff took great care of us, refilling our drinks, bringing us boxes for leftovers and taking our plates & silverware once we finished.

Yelp
The Coop is one of those places that's good no matter the time of day you go there. I've gone for breakfast. I've gone for lunch. I've gone for dinner. Each time has been better than the last, but we absolutely love the breakfast. I am a big chicken and waffles fan, but the last time I was there I tried their French toast. It was so good! Imagine this: double dipped and deep fried southern French toast, topped with fresh blueberries, fresh strawberries, roasted pecans, and the most delicious butter! It melted in my mouth and I barely finished it lol. The bacon is always really good (they have pecan crusted bacon). They also have biscuits (I tend to avoid them because I don't eat a lot of bread and they are MASSIVE). I enjoy the coffee, and I love that you pay for your food and then you sit down, so you don't really have to worry about waiting for someone to take your order. The food is not expensive at all; you can bring a group there and easily only pay about $11 or $12 a piece. It's never truly busy, because they have two indoor seating areas, and an outdoor area that you can reassurance to fit your party. I adore this place!

Yelp
It was tough getting to 2 stars; I was only going to give one. The second star is for friendliness, service, and decor. The decor puts me in mind of and ole' country joint that I remember from my youth; mismatched chairs and rustic atmosphere. The food left a lot wanting. I had fried chicken, fried okra, cole-slaw and a biscuit. Okay, here is my breakdown. 1. Fried chicken - the coating was just "not good". It is definitely unique. The texture is way too gummy. The spice mixture is like a big fight. It was a bit too salty, and whatever the other spices, it was not a compatible blend. They tried too jard and overdid the flavor mixture. KFC and Popeyes both make a better coating. 2. Fried okra - UT seems like the same overly heavy coating as the chicken and it was way too thick. 3. Cole slaw - Meh. This was the best thing on the plate. Fresh, crunchy cabbage with a cool, creamy sauce. 4. Biscuit - WTF?! You need to serve HOT, freshly baked biscuits. It was probably very good when it was fresh. How do you serve a dried out hockey puck during the busiest lunch period. Disgusting! Sorry, I will not be back.

Yelp
One star for the eggs. My husband's over easy eggs were undercooked. My scrambled egg was so overcooked it was hard on the edges. The potatoes were over cooked and the bacon was undercooked. But the grits and pancakes were 5 star quality! So we give them three stars.

Yelp
Grabbed breakfast this morning: COOP scramble with a peach scone. Biscuit had a nice texture but no flavor, skillet potatoes nice and crisp but lacked seasoning, chicken and eggs were fine but unexciting. Peach scone was okay

Yelp
Being a fan of 4Rivers, I knew that this would be a great place to grab some dinner. If you are expecting a sit down full service or fine dining you need to look elsewhere. The Coop is a fast casual, family friendly establishment. When you walk up they offer a wide selection of seating options, including outside. They have a nice.dessert case which was very tempting, so maybe next visit. My bestie ordered the Chicken and dumplings while I ordered the Chicken pot pie. We both chose creamed corn as a side, while I also chose hush puppies and he had green beans. We went to the drink station and got our drinks then found a seat and waited for our dinners. *if you are a cheerwine fan, they have it! Within a few minutes our orders were br pi ught out. Now please note, their creamed corn is NOT your canned variety that we grew up eating. Theirs is thick and creamy and for me, I enjoyed it, however the bestie wasnt a fan. Our dishes looked great and tasted delicious. My pot pie was tip crust only, which I prefer. I think I have experienced one too many soggy bottoms...lol The bestie's chicken and dumplings were huge! Also not all dumplings are created equal. Some places serve flat strips while The Coop offers huge biscuit like dumplings. Next trip I may have to try the roasted chicken or a few tenders. But either way, I will be back.

Yelp
The coop was nice surprise. I have been here a couple of time now, but I have never had the chicken lol . Once you enter you greeted with a throw back kinda theme. There are chicken pictures on the walls and mitch match dinning tables looks great. There is an area set up for customers to get flatware and Condiments by the drink machines. The bathroom were clean the both times i was here. The breakfast here was great ,everything well made and delicious. I also came in for an early dinner once i had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes that too was delicious. Service was a1 the wait staff very nice and on point. If you thinking about checking the coop out it's worth a try.

Yelp
The COOP is a charming restaurant located in Hannibal Square at Winter Park. On our way to another restaurant it's charming curb appeal got us to make a u-turn and check it out. I'm so happy we did! The COOP is similar to a fast casual setting but once your seated it certainly doesn't feel that way. You queue into a line (I'm still getting used to grabbing a menu at the front) and off to the register you go. On Saturdays you will see a huge tray with cinnamon buns that are unevenly cut to fill the whole plate. Making guest really feel at home. Everything hearty, heavy, and just full of soul. The COOP embodies everything Southern cooking is about. I got a huge trip off of the picked peppers as a condiment. Spending apart of my childhood in Georgia you knew a good Southern place when some bottled pickled peppers are on that table. Let me learn you a thing or two about Southern eatin..... you need the spice and vinegar to cut through the fat and salt involved in the dishes. This brings me to the frying batter to most it would be considered heavily salted but covered up some of those pickled peppers, than you have you a good ole time. Every table had a staff member touching it. Ours was touched three times. Not only to express their gratitude (all the southern feels) but also to talk about 4 Rivers. New to the area we have been to many events catered by 4Rivers yet still haven't had the opportunity to drop by. It was nice to see the sister restaurant funneling the option for their parent establishment. Overall I see myself conducting a lot of business in this place with its speed and farm style ambiance!
