Love this cozy bar. Great cocktails & drinks. Dog friendly & always a good time.

The Cozy Nut is a hidden gem in Greenwood and it is quite cozy! This is one local bar that we always end up at. It's so inviting, and the staff is great each time we are in there. I'm so glad they survived after covid because we were worried there for a minute. Sip on delicious draft beer, wine, or perhaps a classic Manhattan which is my go to every time I go in there. The cozy ambiance makes it an ideal spot to unwind after a long day or to go on a date. Prices here are democratic, offering great value for what you receive. They also have an outdoor area in the back and animals are welcome.

Google
Ordered 2 Old Fashioned and a Dirty Vodka Martini. Bartender proceeded to make us 2 Manhattans and when we said hey these are Manhattans and he said thats how we make Old-fashioned here. So adding sweet vermouth is how u make and Old-fashioned got it. The Martini was just alright had too much vermouth in it. These drinks are bartending 101 and if u cant execute these drinks then maybe bartending shouldn't be for you!

The owner is a douche. Picks fights with his perfectly polite paying customers by accusing them of tagging his bathroom without any evidence. Instead of fostering a welcoming environment, they resort to harsh words and baseless accusations, which makes for an unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful service or a good time.

Google
Tried asking questions about a beer and the bartender just told us where the beer list is. We know, man. There’s nobody at the bar, take a second and tell us about it?? We wanted to like the atmosphere but that was pretty off putting. Lots of places to get a beer around here.

Google
I didn't really notice whether they have food or not. I was meeting some friends here and was my first time even hearing about this place. What a fun place to meet for drinks. Not very big but set up to highlight the relationships around the table or at the bar. I got there a little early and ended up having a drink at the bar before my friends arrived . I always wonder how bartenders find a way to be so cordial to patrons as they come in. Although I asked his name I can't remember it but the bartender was excellent .

Cozy and quirky, friendly neighborhood bar with sweet staff.

The first time I went here (about two years ago) I got a cocktail off the menu and it was literally the worst drink I've ever had. I will usually finish a drink even if I don't like it, but this was undrinkable. I asked the bartender if he could adjust it and he was rude and unhelpful. I gave it a second try a year later. There was a different bartender and he made my experience much better. My partner and I started going semi-regularly to enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Flash forward to now. We had stopped going as regularly after an incident with a very drunk guy that bought us multiple unsolicited shots. My partner went with a group of friends and encounters the same rude bartender from years before. He made their experience miserable. This place is really cute, but it's not worth dealing with the horrible service.

Yelp
This is a super cute hidden gem. It was busy on a Friday night, with lots of people and conversation. The decor and lighting feels really cozy. The drinks are well priced and there are plenty of tables and booths to sit and play games or chat.

Yelp
Unusual cozy bar just like the name. Few table seating in addition to the bar seating. The staff was very friendly. If you're looking for a bar with more locals than tourist, then this is the bar for you. The other restaurants/bars in the area are larger, but are more on the expensive side. The listing says pub type food, but definitely different type of pub food than normal. The majority of the food items I would consider snacks. On the menu was nuts and cheese plates. We had the cheese plate which the cheese was good, but the crackers we okay and honestly tasted a little stale.

Yelp
Cozy, neighborhood hideaway! Perfect for a rainy night in Seattle. They pour stiff drinks and the atmosphere dimly lit and is perfect for an after dinner drink with a special someone.

Yelp
A great, wood paneled neighborhood haunt. Not a dive - but a vibe. Private booths, a couple of tables and plenty of bar seating. Friendly bartenders, reasonable prices, and plenty of street and after hours lot parking close by. There's nothing not to love about this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly bar tender, good taps, interesting vibe. Very woody and cozy. We did not try any food or cocktails.

Yelp
love the atmosphere, Decoration & ambiance. their cocktails also best in settle. Super cool service also.. Great little Bar.

Yelp
Well, the bar is very cozy and the ambience is fantastic. The bartender who served us was an absolute tool. He greeted us with judging eyes and hardly checked in on us. Very dismissive, and clearly only cared about the patrons at the end of the bar. For somebody who probably needs tips, he sure did not act like it. We will not be back.

Yelp
You may be surprised to learn that the Nut serves the best charcuterie plate in town. It's abundant, with high quality ingredients. No filler. We have continued to visit whenever we are in the area, and this substantial goodie is a primary draw. Along with all the other awesomeness described in my earlier review.

Yelp
The cocktails went down too well. They were handcrafted and sublime. Food menu is limited, but perfect for snacking. I got a hot dog and it was damn good.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Come in. Relax. Grab a drink and just enjoy the ride at the cozy nut. The drinks are strong and well made and I couldn't find a problem with the prices.

Yelp
Was staying in the neighborhood and meeting up with a friend for dinner nearby. We wanted to go out for drinks after and discovered this cute spot on yelp! We were glad we decided to check it out. Was so cozy and quirky just like the name suggests. They have a great selection of drinks which are fairly priced too. I had a delicious cocktail, which was purple. I believe it was the Empresses Nebula. I would definitely come back here. Would make a cute date night spot! They also serve food but didn't try it this time.

Yelp
First time at the Cozy Nut a couple weeks ago for a friend's birthday. Dimly lit, a little divey, with fun and festive taxidermy (is that a normal phrase?) adorning the walls. We were able to grab a couple adjacent tables by the front window to accommodate our small group. Cozy booths line the wall across from the bar. Bathrooms were clean enough. Bartender was all business but made a good manhattan. The vegetarian platter (Dolmas, Hummus, Roasted Tomatoes, an abundance of grapes, an impossible quantity of cornichons, olives, nuts, and your choice of Chevré or Coastal Cheddar) had a great assortment and helped keep the party going. We called ahead to ask and they were nice enough to allow us to bring in our own birthday cupcakes as well.

Yelp
Was so excited to go to this place! We arrived with a small group and the bar was mostly empty but each table for 6 had one or two people. Not a problem, we grab a drink and wait for the people with mostly empty drinks to leave. But then the bartender kept asking us "but where are you going to sit?" Never directly told us that we couldn't stand but wouldn't take our order and kept kinda laughing at us. Finally we gave up and left. If you are going to have rules about needing to sit at your bar, be clear. State your rules and don't be a rude.

Yelp
Indeed, a cozy place to come for drinks. We were here on a Saturday around 7 PM before a show at the Taproot Theater across the street, and it wasn't crowded at all. I liked the chill ambiance, but the drinks we tried were too strong for me! I like my drinks more on the sweet, fruity side. Planters Punch $10 Blackberry Bootlegger $10

Yelp
Used to love this spot - quirky decor and solid tap list. However came tonight to drop in for a quick drink and encountered the craziest bar tender. Super combative and not stable, lol He got super aggressive after I asked if they had iced tea and loudly mocked a group of gals for ordering lemon drops, "who even orders a lemon drop!?!?!?!!?". He then proceeded to brag to his friends about assaulting a woman at a party, "I punched that dumb bitch in the face" - yikes Do yourself a favor and skip this spot. There are plenty of other spots to drink in this town that don't serve the sh*t attitude.

Yelp
We stopped in and the kitchen was closed, so that was a bummer. The place was nice, great dive bar vibe. The bartender was awful. It wasn't busy but we had a difficult time getting service. We weren't ordering anything complicated either, booze on the rocks. I'll give the place another shot since they have vegan food when the kitchen is open but I won't be in a hurry for my return trip.
google avatar

Yelp
Now that the little jerks behind the bar are gone, this place has returned to being a friendly neighborhood spot with great ambiance, good drinks, and coziness all around! Thank goodness!

P K.

Yelp
The place for interesting conversations or just hang out and enjoy the surroundings-either way, you can't go wrong!

Yelp
A great spot for a drink or just to chill and relax. Cool cozy vibe when you walk in. There is a huge glass frame right when you walks in. They put cute decoration of dead or fake animal in them. Like Alice in Wonderland theme. It is very unique, not to mention they do have a cute fox on one of their glass frame as well. I came here because my friend want to grab a drink and it was on a Sunday, I didn't feel like traveling far. So we end up here after looking at locals bar around where I live. This spot came up, we decided to give them a visit! We didn't drink much or anything when we were there. We just grab a drink and we chatted for hours. We will be back next time and try their specialty cocktails. Not to mention, that their cash register was a one of the retro design. It was awesome. Overall, a great bar to hang out at and have a drink or two.

Yelp
I went on Sunday Oct 30th for their Halloween market event. All the vendors were amazingly sweet & had a variety of art to choose from. Had a cosmo at the bar as well and it was delicious (only paid $15 for 2 drinks). The bartenders were attentive. Loved the decorations for Halloween paired with the cozy look of the interior w/low lighting, I'd recommend this place

Yelp
I'm biased as a regular since Day One but still this is a terrific bar and one my absolute Seattle favorites. I love the guys running the joint and the beer rotation is fantastic even four years on. I also recommend the cocktails, in particular the Boulvardier. The guys built this place from the ground up and the craftsmanship alone is worth seeing. See if you can find the hidden "eyeballs"! Food: It's mostly bar snacks like cured meats and cheeses but I find it sufficient for snacking when drinking. Also: corn nuts!

Laura C.

Yelp
There's a million reasons to check out this bar - if you're chill, understand the bar industry, and want to experience a cool vibe Seattle seriously lacks these days. Always good music, great company, and everyone around is always having a great time. Most importantly, I feel SO safe here. All of the bartenders are always keeping tabs on the environment and protecting the patrons. Favorite bar for sure.

Yelp
Vegan Friendly. Many vegan options with a mix and match a la cart style platter. Good drinks, too!
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
Always a great time. Drinks are fairly priced and the bartenders make great cocktails. The name pretty much describes this place and not really a place where you come to watch sports or anything. Nice intimate and cozy place to bring a date or come with friends. Paul is the best.
google avatar

Erin Rose D.

Yelp
loved everything!! The plates are a bit small so are definitely more of a snack. Great cocktails though!

Yelp
Cozy little spot full of cultish and pagan imagery. Ranging from All seeing eyes hidden around the bar, -even one of the taps contains an simplified pyramid and eye, to the anthropomorphic goats holding illuminating lanterns away from light and into the darkness. Its kind of like a where's waldo for that sort of thing. Can you spot the eye of Ra? Can you see that pyramid with the eye in it under the laminate on one of the table tops? Spooky town. Asked the bartender about it and he just said "what do you mean?" I was like, "whats up with this all seeing eye over here? the one on the tap? Is the owner into like, that ancient religion stuff?" He just looked at me blankly. I think the owner thought it would be like and inside thing and no one would notice or something, but accidentally went over the top with it since its like, all over. anyway, the beer is mildly expensive but local. the service is slow but thats seattle nowadays. 3 stars. oddly felt like I needed to go to church after i left. Havent been in 15 years.
google avatar

Aqeela N.

Yelp
Bartenders need education on acceptable ID. I came here last night and tried to order a diet coke. Was asked for ID and I handed over my Canadian (Ontario) driver's license. Was told by the bartender he couldn't accept it and I had to provide my passport or a US ID or leave. He said it was the law. I wasn't carrying my passport, so I left... It seemed odd because I've never had issues anywhere else in Seattle, so I decided to verify what he said. He was wrong. The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board allows Canadian driver's licenses to be used as an acceptable form of ID. https://lcb.wa.gov/enforcement/acceptable-identification I was looking forward to this place, but after coming all the way from SLU and getting turned away, I have zero desire to come back.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Just the best! Dark, mysterious, good strong drinks, 1/4 the customers look like they've been sitting there since 1974 and the rest exude reckless abandon.
google avatar

Kiris K.

Yelp
This bar is amazing. Cocktails are fire. (Try the empresses nebula) The staff is fantastic. The bar is cute af. Has amazing murals. Clean and smells lovely. Anyone who says otherwise is provably an idiot who walks into a bar after the lights are off and only cares about themself. Check this place out. I promise you will fall in love.
google avatar

Morgan H.

Yelp
Ugh. Walked in an hour before their listed closing time, politely asked if they were open and they responded by shutting the lights off and some dude jumped off a stool from the bar(is that allowed? I thought bar seating wasn't allowed at the moment?) and he snipped that "don't you see the lights are off? " so rude. Place looked dirty and smelled foul. Will never go back. Do not give this rude place your business. They don't deserve to survive.
google avatar

Frederick C.

Yelp
This place is cozy for sure! Paul is amazing! I know he works Tuesday. He is very friendly and well attentive and hospital. The meat and cheese are amazing and plenty of kool stuff to see here. The bar table tops are repurposed wood from old telephone poles! Nice touch! This is definitely a must check out here in greenwood.
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
Super cute little cozy tavern! The name really does describe it well :) Wish this place had been around when I used to live in this neighborhood. Service can be incredibly slow & you will probably have to go up to the bar to get served. Not sure if it's different, if you are one of their "regulars", but as "newbies" that was our experience.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
My partner and I were staying in the neighborhood from out of town. We stumbled across this lovely bar. It's a great spot for a low key drink. Great tunes playing in the background and no TVs. Wonderful staff as well. They require that you show proof of vaccination upon entry. Safe and friendly, great food as well.
google avatar

Ayad M.

Yelp
When there is a very drunk guy, who can barely speak, and keeps harassing the other customers, could you please ask him to leave, or something. Just do something. ANYTHING! Gave you 4 stars because other than that, you guys are great.
google avatar

Barry B.

Yelp
Is this a small logging town bar circa 1982? Greenwood meets twin peaks. Great list of craft cocktails and very good beers on tap. Taxidermy displays at their best! Duck rillette please.
google avatar

Davin S.

Yelp
I Love this place! I work next door and I've been watching the build out of the bar over the last few months. The finished product is great! One of the owners is a wood worker and a boat builder so you can see the attention to detail. You would assume that this place had been here for a long long time based on how settled it looks in here. But it's brand new! The people are kind and the selection is great. Check out the animals at the entrance!
google avatar

Natasha B.

Yelp
What a great little bar! The ambiance is indeed "cozy" and woodland themed. It's a bit hard to see from the street, but there's plenty of parking around. I wish they had a little bit more in the way of option for beer on tap. I also tried the cider on tap, thinking it would be craft- but it was not. I wish I had explored the bottle selection of the beers and ciders more carefully- but then again I usually prefer tap over bottles any day.

Eliza W.

Yelp
Dog friendly? Check. Excellent cocktails? Yup. Good beer list? Indeed. Friendly staff? You betcha! They check your vaccine cards upon entry, you wear a mask when not seated, and I have no complaints. If you're not willing to take measures to protect yourself and others, you don't get to play nice in public. I look forward to supporting this place in the future, perhaps even becoming a regular. Heck, the bartender recognized my dog from my Instagram profile, which only solidified the positive vibes I was picking up.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
Yes. Cozy indeed. A good place to get a booth and chat with friends.
google avatar

Tabitha H.

Yelp
I came here on a random Friday night. Finding parking was easy and the place was surprisingly not packed. I could actually hear my friends and we were able to have a conversation. I liked the selection of beers on tap and ordered a sour.

Robert R.

Yelp
Wonderful Friday night. My wife and I enjoyed the food, me the beers she the wonderful wine. We talked, connected. Cozy Nut allowed this. Music soft, no tv in the background. Just people conversing, enjoying their companions. Perfect name for a cozy Friday night out with my love. Thanks gentlemen for the food and beer suggestions. Cozy Nut allows one to enjoy their quality food, beer, wine and opportunity to Be With My Love. Lovely evening.
google avatar

Jonathan R.

Yelp
Great beer, drinks, snacks and vibe. Lives up to its name, very cozy and a great spot to have a few beers with some friends and hang out. The booths are especially great as they give your table a lot of privacy and a very warm vibe. The taxidermy is a great touch too and gives the bar a very distinct identity.
google avatar

Christina O.

Yelp
Five stars when I order and receive food. Because we didn't receive a food menu or any idea there was food until a regular ordered: 4 stars. Ambience: 5 stars. Music: 5 stars because I am old and have many of the tunes on my USB drive. Drinks: 5 stars because they don't stint. Bar stool instant companions for convivial conversation: 5 stars.

Yelp
A weird setting in the best way. This place is a little slice of the Shire, set in Greenwood. The ambiance says village English pub to me (having never been to England, so) but the details have a lot of local flavor, from the cute forest dioramas to the jackalope over the fridge. And the knob and tube wiring in rafters over the bar is very Greenwood to me. The house drinks are fantastic. I traipsed around the menu a bit but my partner stuck with the Blackberry Bootlegger - an amazing blackberry Old Fashioned. They pour drinks generously, but well. The Cozy Nut had a casked cocktail when I was there, a Yellow Martinez which is if I remember right a Martini derivative with Yellow Chartreuse, and was amazing. This place is cozy like a winter den, with a back bar, menu, and bartenders straight out of a speakeasy. Service is... slow is the wrong word, it's leisurely. Which just contributes to the overall setting. It's a setting you may not always want, but when you do, make a night of it.
google avatar

Alden C.

Yelp
Well, I was in a quandary. Whenever I am in Greenwood I love going to one of my favorite breweries, The Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery but I walked past this place while window shopping and actually shopping and as the name states...it was just too cozy to bookmark and come back for later. So instead of getting two beers at the brewery I went there and just got one. With the full intent of coming back to Cozy Nut. When I went back I saw a very interesting and of course quirky diorama at the entrance of a camp scene made of moss and wood with figures with a big stuffed mountain sheep(I think) lording over the camping participants. Of course the goat had vines in his horns. All a very Pan scenario. It was beyond adorable! The tavern was not just a tease from the outside window. It actually was very warm, cozy and welcoming. I got a fine Pear Cider and just kicked back and relaxed and absorbed the atmosphere. It was delightful! I will definitely be making a return trip with Steven in the near future! The Cozy Nut is an adorable place!

Yelp
Super cozy! Super friendly! Yummy snacks great beer! Totally our new go to hang out! Love it!

Alex K.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Came in for a beer with a family member and encountered the rudest bartender I've been around in years. Guy was beyond pissed just doing his job and we couldn't have been more polite, at one point asking what he suggested on the menu and having to endure his angry attitude in the aftermath. We left after it looked like he wanted to start a fight with us for having the nerve to ask his opinion on a menu choice. That really threw him for a loop. One star is generous and too bad because prior to this visit here we had much better experiences at this bar. Hire someone with a better attitude
