I always pass by here when I'm on this stretch of Magazine and every time I peek in the window and say, "It's so cute, I wonder if the food is good? People seem to be enjoying it." I can now confirm that is indeed super cute on the inside and the food is indeed quite delicious. Upon entry I was greeted by soft R&B, lots of natural light, and earthy pastels--sold. I was greeted warmly by the staff and the service was swift and efficient.
Before arriving I knew that it was vegetarian and vegan friendly, but I thought they might have more protein options available as add-ins. I had my eye on the Mexicali Blues salad which had black beans, corn, tomato, red onion, tortilla chips, cotija, and jalapeño-lime vinaigrette and I was looking for a protein to add. They only options are egg, avocado, smoked salmon, kimchi and tofu. The salad already came with avocado, so none of those options were really working with the flavor profile. A little grilled shrimp would have set it off! Nonetheless, it was really yummy! All of the ingredients looked and tasted incredibly fresh, there was a perfect amount of dressing, and the portion was just right. I would have liked some more tortilla chips, because I really enjoy a crunchy salad, but that's just my preference.
Their smoothies and juices looked really good, too! I'll definitely be stopping in again to try one the next time I'm in the area. I know it'll be the perfect companion to walk Magazine with on a hot day.
