"Opening tomorrow in the Irish Channel on August 8, I note that the Daily Beet’s third location continues its focus on vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free good-for-you eats — think toasts with avocado, tomato, and chili flakes; roasted beets, eggs, and harissa; rice and veggie bowls served on beds of greens; and a variety of salads — while expanding its brunch offerings with vegan buckwheat sweet potato pancakes and a Pitaya chia Bowl with granola, fruit, and bee pollen; a lox plate is listed as the sole non-vegetarian option. Located on the corner of Toledano and Magazine Streets, the light-filled “schoolhouse” cafe occupies a space formerly a Smashburger and features an interior by local architecture firm Concordia and designer GoodWood NOLA. This marks the brand’s second expansion since owner Dylan Maisel started as a vendor at the Bywater’s St. Roch Market (he opened JuiceNOLA there in April 2015) and later opened his first restaurant in the CBD inside The Beacon. The Daily Beet is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m." - Clair Lorell
