"The Dugout, located at 950 W. Addison Street in Wrigleyville, was shut down on New Year's Eve for hosting an over-capacity party. The venue has a history of disregarding COVID-19 regulations, such as not enforcing social distancing and mask-wearing. The Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection will decide on further actions against the Dugout." - Naomi Waxman

"Case in point: a video recorded outside the Dugout, a sports bar steps away from Wrigley Field. The footage’s timestamp is at 12:44 a.m. on Sunday (right now, Chicago bars can only stay open until 11 p.m.). Customers are shown without wearing masks without following social distancing guidelines." - Ashok Selvam

I visited Chicago as a solo traveller from Scotland. I attended the cubs match at Wrigley Field and seen adverts outside advertising 3 dollar tall boys pre game. The staff were fantastic and very knowledgeable. After the match I returned and met Eddie the owner and his bar staff who was a magician. They were very kind and generous with their pints and I spent a further few hours in the venue enjoying their musical act who's name I do not remember (Sorry!). A great bar for drinks and has a massive rooftop bar! I am returning in September 2025 and will be attending this bar again. Thanks for everything!

Google
the owner with the great pecs blue eyes and handsome was so awesome we loved him so much! can’t wait to come back! the chips and salsa were lovely.

Google
I don’t see everyone’s problem with ed I think Jon taffer was the problem he is a hothead never took the time to get to know how laid back of a guy ed is if you see this review you should definitely go here great owner

Phil Collins

Google
Just horrible! The bartender seemed to be very confused or focused on something other than serving drinks! We asked for a diet coke and the man behind the bar who didn't seem to be a bartender pointed to his nose and repeated coke! We will NEVER go back to this poorly run bar when there are so many other options in the area!

Google
Great bar atmosphere in Wrigleyville, they played great music and the bartenders and servers were friendly and attentive The pizza however tasted frozen. Expected more from a place with Pizza in the name but again really liked the place and will be back for all the other reasons.

Yelp
Food and service still sucks, Ed the owner still the drunk!! Avoid this place. Place was still dirty, not swept in weeks, dust and grease on counters and tables. This was in offseason so they weren't busy but still to lazy to clean !!

Chris M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a few libations before a Cubs/National Game. It was just a few steps from train. Food available but we did not partake. They had $3 Miller Lite Specials. Bartenders were quick to serve. We arrived early, so plenty of seats. Signs for a rooftop but we never made it up there. Enjoy!

Angelina T.

Yelp
BEST BAR EVER SO FUN FOR CUBS GAMESS. eddie is the best owner he has beautiful biceps. I have never met a more handsome honorable guy! the drinks and bartenders are amazing and the service is great!!

Lexi M.

Yelp
We had to come in and check this place out. There was a brand new bartender so she was learning and was super sweet. It's a really cool place to come in and have a few (or a lot) of drinks with friends. We were just starting off our day, so we only had 2 drinks here. It's definitely a place to check out when you're down here for a Cubs game.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Perfect pitstop. Steps from the L Train, and steps from Wrigley field. Casual place to get a cheap beer, or a slice of pizza. This place also has rooftop views, with a view of the stadium. Definitely recommend, fun place overall.

Grant S.

Yelp
Good vibes here. Definitely a must during the Cubs season. Heavy pizza if you're into that. Decent menu, solid drinks and hospitable and friendly staff. Very nice overall.

Jazmin S.

Yelp
The owners at this establishment are shady. They begged 2 ladies go bartend for them on Superbowl Sunday, offered them $500 plus whatever tips they made. They accepted. Come day of the super bowl, they only made $30 and then refused to pay them the $500 and offered to pay them minimum wage. It's been a few days now and they still haven't even got that. I would not recommend spending your money at a place where the owners are greedy and don't pay their employees.

James B.

Yelp
Amazing bar tender was the most helpful and loving bartender i have ever met, Ashley is the heart of DugOut and if you go to this bar and she is bartending you are sure to have an amazing experience.

Anna P.

Yelp
The bartenders are amazing! Rooftop view is incredible and can still enjoy the cubs game here great prices, food here, workers are so friendly, such an amazing place. highly recommend!!

Gabby E.

Yelp
Best Chicago bar they have everything you'll need during a Cubs game. Service was absolutely amazing and their drinks are top notch. The ambiance is so nice and the music is amazing.

Eduardo M.

Yelp
Awesome place, fun people and good food. Got to see the rooftop bar which is a treat. And I didn't know they had a private lounge called the clubhouse. Place has 4 bars in it! Can't wait to bring some friends there for game day!

Courtney C.

Yelp
Tried to go here for a post game drunk operative word being tried. Prepare to be accosted by overly intoxicated underage frat boys sweating almost as much as they are spilling, usually all over other patrons. We went up to the roof to get out of that scene only to stand at a bar being "tended" by a man drunker than anyone else in the bar. He flat out ignored me, an over 30 woman and the black kid next to me for over 15 minutes when he finally came over to us he took one look at us and slurred out "can I have like two minutes? It'd be bad for everyone if I pee all over myself." At that point I had seen enough, my group and I went elsewhere.

Jesse N.

Yelp
I gave them three stars but I had planned on giving four. This is a very nice place. Not fancy, but not a dive. The bartenders were awesome and no problem there. The problem came when we tried to order food. We were told to put our order using a QR code but it wouldn't work so we called in. We were on the rooftop and the restaurant is in the lower level. There are many many stairs. So they took our order and said it would be delivered. 40 minutes later we ask about the pizza. Nothing. So down the stairs (I mean a lot of stairs) and get to the lower level. They never made our pizza! Why? Because we hadn't paid for it. But they never asked for a card. They just said "ok, we have your order And we will bring it upstairs". So Pizza paid and back up those stairs (seriously, no elevator?) we waited for our pizza. Server shows up and asks if we would like anything else. Buddy says "ranch dressing?" And the server looks at him and says "I mean, I'll get it for you but that's a lot of stairs... do you REALLY want it?" To which our wives both said "no, he doesn't" but I really think he did. Pizza was very good.

Yelp
My husband and I came here on business. We stayed in Oak Brook but traveled to this bar and we were not disappointed. We had the most memorable time, the owner chatted with us and I must say, he is not the villain portrayed on Bar Rescue. We own Realestate in Chicago and we plan to always stop in when our iteniary permits. I recommend you try the money shot and the rizzo. The bartender named Stephanie was polite and fun. There is no judgment at this establishment

Lisa S.

Yelp
The Dugout gets its four stars strictly based on atmosphere and the amazing view of downtown that you get on its rooftop. This is probably one of the best rooftops in all of Wrigleyville, as you can see Wrigley Field, the Sears Tower, and the John Hancock. I always take visiting friends and family here. Beers are pricey and mixed drinks even more so, plus the only food they offer are slices of pizza. However, it's a must see for tourists and locals alike. Service has always been friendly and accommodating as well!

Kevin W.

Yelp
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! It was fun until I met the bartender. Asked for a cup of water said they couldn't. Only bottles of water for $4. I ended up having to pay for a bottle of Costco (Kirkland) water!!! Legally you have to provide a patron water free. Drinks were horrible and under poured. Bartenders were rude especially one working a particular night. Went Upstairs finally got a cup of water from a bartender that was hammered. Horrible horrible horrible place. This place can't be saved.

Dan S.

Yelp
Wow what an amazing Roof Top bartender Ashley W. is one of the best bar tenders I have encountered in a very long time. Her quick, kind, courteous service was fantastic. The bar was slammed and she managed to get to me to say I will be with you in a moment, she is very attentive no matter how busy it was. So thank you Ashley for making our night we had and blast and she kept the drinks coming with a big incredible smile. We will be back soon.

Kathryn W.

Yelp
Located conveniently close to Wrigley Field, The Dugout is THE spot to be. It has a classic dive bar feel with upbeat energy, great ambience and friendly service. You cant help but want to stick around for another, just to keep chatting with Eddie Cheers to the Dugout--we'll be back!

Cody S.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Friendliest staff around plus good music and deals. Jackie took care of us all might! Had great service and good times all night. A place to check out for sure, I will def be back. Also great cubs game day specials. Check this place out!

Lee Ann W.

Yelp
The service at this bar was less than acceptable. Waited 40 minutes for a drink. I will not be going back here.

Jenna S.

Yelp
Awful. Bartender Ashley barely wore her mask. Charged two different prices for the same drink. She was so drunk she was falling around behind the bar and taking shots with other tables.

Dedra G.

Yelp
Best churro i ever had, the filet minion eas soft and melted in your mouth. Even the mineral water picture they served half frozen was the coldest water i have ever had.

Elesia S.

Yelp
This bar has an awesome view on the rooftop but that music oh my gosh it's terrible!!! They need to play better music. It's so bad and that is a big part of the experience! They need to play music that everyone likes.

Caroline B.

Yelp
I've been going to the Dug Out for 10 years. Although the bar owner has a rest b^*+ face, he's a sweet, loving man (hard to believe, but he has a dry sense of humor). The dug out has great drinks and for the past two years they've had an amazing/ fun rooftop with a view of the stadium. Come check out the view and the amazing rooftop. It's always a fun atmosphere in here. Door girl Dani is also so sweet.

grace j.

Yelp
I love it here such a good atmosphere!!! Good place for friends to go to loveeeeee always here

Charlotte D.

Yelp
I love this place!!!!! Servers are awesome and vibes are off the chart. Love grabbing a drink here and the pizza is off the charts!

Christina A.

Yelp
Must stop for a quick drink before heading into wrigleyville! A house converted into a bar, steps off the train station! Underwear hanging on the lights..... $3 budlights... awesome bartender!

Shaun B.

Yelp
While visiting Chicago this past summer we went to The Dugout for the first time before and after a Cubs game and were extremely impressed! Cool hangout, great service, great pizza and an overall great experience. We visited again this past weekend for Christmas season festivities and had the same, if not even better experience. Especially on a crazy day, the service was exceptional. Rob was the best and made sure we had a great time. Highly recommend the Dugout. We will be back every visit to Wrigleyville!

Arjuna M.

Yelp
Bartenders weren't wearing their mask. Left after waiting 20 minutes for someone to attend to us l.

Jordan S.

Yelp
Eddie is the greatest owner of a bar I have ever met in my life. He is the nicest person and super welcoming. Also Ash is the greatest bartender I have ever met in me life. This place is absolutely extraordinary. Please come visit. You will not be disappointed.

Ricky A.

Yelp
This is the worst bar ever. Especially in wrigleyville. It was our first time in wrigleyville and we wanted to experience different bars. We saw they had a rooftop bar. We walked in the first floor was empty. We walked up 3 flights of stairs to the rooftop and there was no music playing. No one approached us to order drinks. We just took a quick photo and left because it wasn't very welcoming. We decided to go down to the first floor to order a drink before our trip back to our hotel. The female white with blonde hair behind the bar was drunk. She was slurring her words. We ordered guacamole and chips and she said they don't have guacamole even though they market it as a special. Then I ordered 2 beers and handed her my credit card. She said what's this for. I said for the 2 beers I ordered. She said what beers. She only charged me for 1 beer and then we ordered garlic fries. The cook came and delivered the fries 30 min later and he said sorry he didn't see the ticket. The same bartender then comes out and starts talking to my wife and I (slurring her words). She then calls my wife beautiful and then slaps me on my cheek. There was no manager to complain to. We just left. Worst experience for a baseball fan wanting to experience wrigleyville.

Vahn B.

Yelp
Ash is damn good bartender and cares about the customers. Highly recommend That is coming from a Pirates fan

Kristen C.

Yelp
I have always liked this bar. Most affordable drinks in Wrigley. Good patrons. Great, friendly staff. Top choice is the basement bar but top has been redone after Bar Rescue. If you have high standards and arent into dive bars you won't like it. But to have some well made drinks, affordable beers and a good crowd stop in. The Hot Puss I wasnt a fan of but respect its spot at the bar. Mel was our bartender and she is fabulous!

John J.

Yelp
We saw the Bar Rescue episode awhile back and ended up walking past it today on our way to the game. The owner was out in front with his dull personality telling people to, "Stop in for the cheapest beer in Wrigley." We passed. So we were freezing our asses off at the game and decided to head back to the train for our ride home. This time, we could resist stopping in to check the place out. As we headed down the gangway, we were hit with the overwhelming smell of burning pizza. It got a lot worse when we opened the door. The place was empty. We bellied up to the bar where we were greeted by one of two bartenders. The guy was pretty cool. Within minutes he was telling us about how they were the bar from Bar Rescue and how the show and Jon Taffer came in and tried to ruin the place. Um...yeah,....okay. The owner talked on the show about he's a "numbers guy" and you would think that'd he realize the Jon Taffer's "numbers" are impressive with a success rate of about 80%. Surely, the other 20% is made up of places like the Underground Wonder Bar and that pirate bar. We noticed lights above the bar where only some worked. There was one beer handle down which blew our mind as we couldn't believe that they wouldn't have back up barrels in back. There was also a big laundry cart by the front door. The men's room was disgusting. All of this took a couple of minutes to notice. My wife asked to see a food menu for the heck of it. Very generic crap that they probably buy frozen from Restaurant Depot. Just as we were ready to leave, the owner walked in and poured himself a beer before sitting down at the bar. The bartender then started to tell us about the pizza. We asked if we could order some and he said we had to go upstairs to get it, but were okay to bring it back down and eat it at the bar. Isn't this why you have servers?? Anyway, we couldn't help but listen to the owner start telling everyone who had come in that Jon Taffer was wrong about this and that. This guy is so incredibly clueless as a bar owner. Just clueless. He even walked away and came back with a big plate of food for himself and made sure to pour another beer for himself before he sat back down at the bar to eat. I could point out so many things that make this THE ABSOLUTE WORST bar in Wrigleyville, but that's a waste of time. This clown is doomed to fail. Period. Color yourself as stupid as the owner if you think this place is even halfway decent. It's a dump in a bad way. Want a dump in a good way in Wrigleyville? Head over to Nissei. The Press Box flat out sucks on almost every level.

Maura R.

Yelp
Taken advantage of- went to dugout and two girls who said they had ordered too many Jell-O shots came up to us and offered us them. We hesitatingly took them since they seemed trustworthy, then proceeded to charge us $2 per shot. I'm sorry, but don't say hey we ordered too many shots then have a Toast card payment machine to charge us for them. Also the pizza is awful.

Lynsy M.

Yelp
The mark of a good bar is not necessarily its size but the quality of its service and its ability to create the right atmosphere. Some of my best drinking experiences have been in small bars tucked away in basements or in repurposed, old workshop spaces. Regrettably, The Dugout Sports Bar & Grill is not among these gems. The location of The Dugout makes it a convenient first or last stop on a tipsy night out. The owner was wise in this regard, having selected a spot just steps away from the Addison Red Line stop. For this reason, I have found myself on several occasions wandering down into The Dugout's scummy pit of late-night drunkery. The layout and aesthetic of The Dugout remind me of the numerous frat house parties I attended back in undergrad -- dirty, cramped, an impromptu beer pong table, and that distinct smell of cigarettes, underarms, stale beer, and urine. I know the ambiance sounds terribly appealing, but it's the bartenders--specifically, Tawny, John, and Jessica--that honestly bring you back to this place. Friendly and courteous, they each exhibit a customer service aptitude that makes for a comfortable consumer experience. Unfortunately, though, this doesn't apply to all the staff. As you walk by The Dugout, you can't help but notice signs for cheap drink specials. In fact, there is a banner above one of the entrances that advertises $4 Old Style tallboys. For those who like a good, cheap beer special: The Dugout actually charges $6 for Old Style tallboys... not the $4 as advertised. I learned this the hard way. After ordering, I walked outside curious to revisit the banner above the handicap accessible entrance. Maybe I misread it? The door guy began touting the daily drink specials, so I asked him if tallboys were $4 as posted. Rather than tactfully addressing my concern, he combatively disputed even the slightest suggestion that this was the case. When I pointed out the banner, he rudely insulted me, then aggressively argued that because the sign was old, I was unable to correctly read the price listed on the banner. Instead of bickering, I simply took a picture, chugged my beer, and left. I guess you can see the banner for yourself; I've attached a picture of it to my review. Though, it still looks like $4.00 to me. Bars and restaurants live or die on service. If I want a successful bar, all I have to do is provide mediocre offerings along with a non-offensive ambiance, but I MUST couple that with good service. Providing customers with a consistent, positive experience is the first step to achieving loyal patronage. Unfortunately, though, The Dugout has lost my support, and I have no plans to return.

Gabby S.

Yelp
I expected what I saw on Bar Rescue and that's what I got. I'm a huge Bar Rescue fan and I just had to come to the Dugout to experience it for myself. Saw Ed drinking at the bar just like on the show, our bartender was super sweet but the drinks were definitely horrible. I'm a little surprised that he kept the name The Dugout but also kept "Box Press" sign. I definitely would not come back but it was fun to experience.

Chris M.

Yelp
If a Small dive bar can get 5 stars, This one does! The bathrooms are clean and well stocked, the bartenders are friendly, and the location is ideal! an underground place just outside the EL station at Addison so it's perfect for a drink before paying $9.75 for beer at Wrigley or to pass the time to let the train crowd die down after the Cub games

Steve G.

Yelp
the owner walked in and poured himself a beer before sitting down at the bar. The bartender then started to tell us about the pizza. We asked if we could order some and he said we had to go upstairs to get it, but were okay to bring it back down and eat it at the bar. Place had a bad smell.

Billy C.

Yelp
Great place for pre-game beer. Bartenders are good looking and very nice. The pizza is good. Owners are a little shady though!

Sam R.

Yelp
Dugout is legitimately awesome! Rob the owner is an awesome guy and they have great deals. Pizza is very good too. You have to check this place out!

Jennifer D.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for the first time because we were in the neighborhood and found this place on Yelp. So glad we happened to find this place. Friendly service. We ordered a sausage deep dish (I believe that's the style) and wings. Delicious! We also ordered a Papa Rizzo cocktail (excellent) and a Lagunitas. A staff member (Eddie?), stopped by our table. Perhaps a manager? He stopped by to check on how our meal was. I was impressed by that.

Leo H.

Yelp
Nice staff but BS play for business of $3 tall boys. Second one jumps to $6 and it's freaking Budweiser and Bud Light.

Mayghan B.

Yelp
I think this place is great! I work in the area and enjoy stopping by with my coworkers after a long shift! The beer is crazy cold and the price is right! Pickle Rick always tries to make a point to say hi when he's not crazy busy running around! Kevin the bartender is kind of a dork but he knows how to pour a drink! Definitely a place to check if your in the area! Plus it's a great place to pregame before a Cubs game, it's right off the Addison redline stop!

Kelli C.

Yelp
I love this bar! It's become one of my favorites & always make sure to stop in for a beer or 5. Don't pass up the pizza either! It's delicious!

steven j.

Yelp
The owner Ed is just a drunk. Dirty environment. Sticky floors. Beer was flat. They obviously don't know how to run a biz or change out a keg. Skip this place. So many higher end bars in the area with much better looking crowds, service, atmosphere and no fall down drunk for owners.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Little sports bar located underground just east of Wrigley. We ducked in here to kill time after a Cubs game. Wasn't too packed thankfully. Not really any deals, unless $6 domestic tall boys count. Not much seating space, but we were able to stand at least. Nothing that great, but it's a good spot to wait for the red line crowd to die down after a Cubs game since it's very close to the station

Annemarie H.

Yelp
Next to Wrigley! Was the only bar open late night. Walking down Addison and I heard music...stopped and walked down. The bar is filled with cubs stuff. Lots of history in this cool dive. I'm only giving it four stars cause it was filthy filthy dirty. Like legit just grab a bar towel and wipe bar top down.

Kessea P.

Yelp
Great service! Great Bartenders!!! Definite recommend after the game! Eddie was the most accommodating & quite strapping!
