Google
Our family’s go to spot for dim sum in Denver and family dinners. The dim Sum is our favorite cart dim sum. The dim sum is fresh and tastes good and there’s usually little wait since the seating area and parking are both spacious. Obviously not as many dishes as in SF or NYC spots, but good for Denver. The same can be said for the menu dishes. Solid meals and an our go to for traditional Cantonese food.

Google
Good dim sum food. Make sure you come during dim sum hours. Otherwise the salt and pepper pork is amazing. I'm also a big fan of the pan fried noodles. They do it right here!

Peter Phakonekham

Google
One of the best dim sum places in Colorado, delicious food, and kind service. I love the fact they didn’t rush us like other places and we get to enjoy our meal 😄

Google
Great place with cart service before 3 pm and delicious food! They give you free hot tea when you sit down and my water was never empty. Very friendly waitress. The food was great and didn't cost as much as we were afraid of! I recommend their fried rice and pork dumplings.

Google
Ah I always crave a good Cantonese Style dinner and this meal was delicious! We ordered all our favorite go to dishes: Ginger Scallion Crab, Green Beans with Pork, Roast Duck, Cantonese Style Chow Mein, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, and Potstickers! I enjoyed the Green Beans dish. I was so excited to see chung choy in it, which added to the flavor profile. The combination Chow Mein was perfectly crispy with plentiful amounts of tender meat and veggies. Ginger Scallion Crab and Shrimp with Lobster sauce was what we expected and executed well. Some of the end pieces of duck were a bit salty but overall was very good. I’d love to try the Peking Duck next time with the buns and the crispy roast pork. I felt the cost of the food was very reasonable with the amount of food given. I love the fact that you can order dim sum at any time. But makes it hard to choose what to order because everything sounds good. The servers were so nice and had very fun personalities, always with a smile on their faces. They made our meal really enjoyable and did a fairly good job keeping our water cups filled. The restaurant was spacious and appeared tidy. We went there on a Saturday night and there were people setting up for likely a wedding event. I’m sure Empress is a place where many Asians have their reception meals and events. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy and was happy to see that they had their own parking lot. We were only visiting, but we’ll definitely be back to try more items in the future and would recommend others to give it a try!

Google
Wow! Delightful! We’ve been there now for dinner and lunch; definitely go for lunch if you want fresh carts going around. The chicken feet are nice and soft and delicious, but for dinner they’ve gotten a bit dry on the tops of them, maybe from sitting in a fridge or under a heat lamp. Service? Great! Attentive, fast, informative. Salt and pepper pork chop was cut into smaller pieces than were used to eating, but that was still excellent—crispy, savory, melts in your mouth! Chinese broccoli is a MUST. We adore their fried “football” pork glutinous balls. AMAZING. Shrimp and eggplant dim sum also excellent. I’d recommend maybe leaning away from fried taro cake, as it’s very salty. Go! Please go! So yummy.

Google
This is honestly the best dim sum in Denver. I have been to four others and they just can’t seem to beat this restaurant! Everything here is amazing! From the food to the dining experience, this place is it! The price is also very reasonable! The chili oil here is to die for!!!! So good with everything!!!! I highly recommend the chili oil!!!

Google
Such a great dim sum option, complete with fresh grilled dumplings and traditional cart service. There is no long wait like at Star Kitchen and the food is always fresh & delicious.

Yelp
We love Empress for its Lunar New Year dim sum. We came on a Saturday before 10am because they fill up quickly. The Hong Kong style dim sum carts come around to each table and you get to pick: pork bun, shrimp crepe, har gow, taro cake, the list goes on. You can also order from the regular menu and we tried the Singapore noodles (it was great!) Staff is friendly and accommodating. We stayed for the 11am lion and dragon dance. Amazing! Ambiance is old dim sum place. The place is big and has a separate side room for small parties. We were here with a big alumni group and they were able to accommodate us in the main dining room.

Yelp
Not sure why people hating on this place. I generally have a sensitive stomach but so far no food poisoning yet! Says a lot about a typical Chinese dim sum place haha. We usually go during lunch on a weekday, sometimes weekend too but honestly we only order the most typical dishes and it's been solid so far! I actually prefer this place over star kitchen tbh. Just good dim sum without the hassle and wait. And honestly the quality is pretty much the same. Not sure about pricing but i assume they're comparable being less than 2 miles apart. -pork shumai are big and scrumptious and juicy. My favorite. 5/5 -hacao? 3/5. It's okay.... The clear skin was a bit thick for my taste -shrimp roll. Hit or miss.. 3/5. First time the roll was kinda hard. Second time was thin and delicious. -pork ribs. 4/5. Pretty good. My hubby enjoyed this a lot. Flavorful. -sticky rice. 5/5. Really good! I'm not a fan of sausage so I usually leave that behind but the sticky rice is savory and flavorful. -sesame ball. 4/5. Loved the outer sesame fried dough with taro filling. I wished they have mungbean filling instead. Tips: they charge $2/per person for tea? Decline that if you don't want tea. But ordering tea is OG so up to you. Also, don't mark on the order paper if you see a dim sum cart and want to order from the cart. It'll just confuse everybody. Ambience: it's alright. Expected from a typical old Chinese dim sum place. Service is good. They move fast and tried to accommodate your needs.

Yelp
Was craving some Chinese food and stopped into The Empress Service: very attentive waitress! She gave us suggestions Food: - Peking Duck: 5/5 - crispy skin, fluffy baos; boyfriend wished it came w cucumbers though lol - Beef Chow Fun: 4/5 - tender beef, oily and MSG-y in the best way (you're eating Chinese food what do u expect lol), but I actually wish it was slightly saltier - Snow Peas w/ Garlic Sauce: 5/5 - love that I can find this in CO, a perfect vegetable pairing for the meal *side note - they do dim sum all day and night so there's that I will return!

Yelp
Looking for Chinese food from 50 years ago? Come here. Staff were nice restaurant is nice but old

Yelp
Chinese New Year dim sum lunch with family and friends. They trusted me to order for them and I ordered vegetable dishes for the vegetarian and meat dishes for the rest. Pork, seafood, noodles, veggies, dumplings, and desserts. We had lots of food and at first it looked like we had too much. But we did justice to the dishes and ate most of it. The associates were amazing. Some recognized us and greeted us in a friendly manner. We exchanged new year wishes and settled in to our meal. The restaurant was full of happy families and friends. So much fun!

Michael J.

Yelp
Excellent food; excellent service. The vegetables were cooked just perfectly; not overcooked nor undercooked.

Yelp
Came here Sunday when they opened (10:30am), was able to call ahead around 9:30am and reserved a table for 10. It was less busy than Star Kitchen, but we all thought the food was tastier and weren't rushed to finish. Will definitely come back!
google avatar

Molly W.

Yelp
Super tasty food but a bit chaotic! I'll cut them some slack since it was Christmas and the place was PACKED. I'm sure it was one of the only places open in the area. Our food came out very randomly. Like we had 1 thing on the table for awhile, then got a few more, and then when we were basically done we got the last item. It's nice and everything comes out at once. I've heard amazing things about this place, my uncle loves it and this experience did NOT deter me. I'll be back! The drunken noodles were chefs kiss, and the bbq pork buns & pork dumplings were amazing too. Also this garlic eggplant dish was phenomenal and not something I would normally get!
google avatar

Khampha K.

Yelp
The Empress has been around for quite awhile and is a staple in our Asian Community. However, I feel like they could do some updating to the interior and maybe to the dim sum menu as well. The food is good but not the best. Not a big fan of their sauces either
google avatar

Deborah M.

Yelp
We got a Lunar New Year Feast!! Ordered takeout and everything was beyond delish! Favorites included shu mai, rice cakes in xo sauce, egg tarts, bbq pork puffs just to name a few- this is my go to spot for quality dim sum items! We were so ready to feast I didn't get a pic!

Yelp
Came in on a Friday around 1PM because it's my sons birthday and birthday dim sum is a must in our family. Since the last time we ate here, it feels like some recipes have slightly changed. It's not bad but it's different than what we originally would have and we don't know how to feel about it. Dim sum normally comes out in carts but we know we came in past the rush so the majority of it was made to order. I don't know how to describe the staff. They tried to be friendly and attentive but they weren't naturally good at it. They did make sure to check in on us and keep our water glasses and tea full which is great. But that's all that worth saying about it. Now we've been coming to this location for a few years now and they have the normal Chinese restaurant decorations we're you could host parties etc. but overall it's not very clean. From the window sills to the walls and glass door area, there's just a lot of dust and build up. The once white curtains that are by the glass door are now a yellowish color and are "crunchy" in texture.(I only know this because of my toddler, who touches everything). We tend to turn the other cheek because we do like the food but that's getting harder to do. This place really just needs a deep clean. Now the overall price of dim sum has raised everywhere and this place is no exception. A small plate of dimsum costs 4.50 and the prices just go up from there. For 2 adults and a toddler, our total came out to $66. We liked this place better than the other dim sum places in our area, but we're hesitant to keep coming here. I do hope things change for the better.

Yelp
Great service and the place is spacious. Dim sum all tasted great. They were doing so well until we ordered mapo tofu. It's by far the worse we've ever tasted. I can't get the taste of peas out.
google avatar

Stewart L.

Yelp
I often order from this restaurant haven't been in yet, but the food is fantastic different options for the dim sum lover when it's delivered it's always fresh. Looks like the pictures here on yelp and equally as delicious.

Yelp
Fairly big and spacious restaurant! Dim sum food have decent variety. Spare ribs are seasoned perfectly. Chicken feet are soft and seasoned perfectly! Service was quick and our server are friendly as well. I love the mango smoothie with tapioca and watermelon and mango pieces!

Yelp
I was thinking it looked like a cafeteria from the outside, but it's set up like a dim sum restaurant, and it's clean and bright with lots of windows. The service was so fast we hardly had time to think about what we wanted. The dim sum was excellent - better than (SK) down the street. The wait staff mbers were friendly and fun. I can't wait to go back and try some other dishes. Absolutely wonderful experience.

Yelp
This is the best Chinese food I've found in Denver. Dim sum on the weekends is fire. The service fast and friendly they always remember me and my Friends. They have the best egg fu young and crispy pork
google avatar

Larry S.

Yelp
Unfortunately they changed what was the best egg roll in Denver to an average tasting egg roll at best. They are much smaller now also. Everything else on the menu is still very good. Looks like they changed the type of rice they are using for the fried rice. Also not quite as good but still decent.
google avatar

Yelp
Not sure why this place isn't favored as much as Star Kitchen but I had a great experience. I've never seen the variety of distinct carts they had here, each designed especially for the item they carried- one with a griddle to keep the pan fried dumplings crispy right until they hit your teeth, one with vats full of comforting congee and toppings, one with the classic metal tins for steamed items and a cute little display case full of sweet buns and tarts. Highlights Siu mai (this isn't usually one of my favorites but theirs was really chubby and flavorful) Baked BBQ Bun (could have done with more filling but very light and sweet) Lotus Glutinous Rice (not necessarily remarkable in taste but I just love this dish) Pan Fried Turnip Cake (yum) Stuffed Fresh Mushroom (came in a delicious, thick, savory brown sauce) Chinese Broccoli with Garlic Sauce (do not overlook the greens at dim sum) Turns out I liked pretty much everything I had. We tried other items that were tasty but not remarkable to me and the only things I'd straight up pass on were the roast pork (not terrible but not worth it, imo) and maybe the soup dumplings (not enough broth). Glad to have at least two solid dim sum options in Denver. You won't go wrong with either.

Yelp
I decided to branch out from my usual go tos for dim sum and heard a lot about The Empress being a good alternative. Unfortunately for me, it didn't meet my expectations. It was probably my least favorite of the dim sum places around the area (compared to super star and star kitchen). I came here right when they opened and ordered Sui Mai, Ha Kao, Sesame Ball and Egg Custard. Sui Mai had minimal shrimp to it, Ha Kao was quite small and the wrap was too much, and the egg custard came out cold. I was surprised since I arrived so early! Sesame ball was actually really good though. Lots of filling and it was a great texture! Probably the highlight of the meal.
google avatar

Jacque D.

Yelp
Recently moved to Colorado from a state with a greater chinese population and I thought this place was a little better in terms of taste. The staff was pleasant and attentive. We tried about 7 different items, will definitely be back!
google avatar

Ed H.

Yelp
Their orange beef was amazing. Their egg rolls were homemade and really good. The hot mustard was very hot and the dumplings were absolutely amazing. The best part of this visit, though was the service on a scale of 1 to 5. I will give them a 100. Thank you for a great experience I will return.

Yelp
This review is for the Dim Sum which we loved. Came with a group of 5 around opening time Saturday morning and were seated without a wait. The carts were already making their rounds-- the ladies are *the NICEST* of all the dim sum ladies I've met, they were patient, happy to explain and were more than happy to circle back when the rest of our party arrived. Our waiter was also very attentive and took our orders for items not on the cart, and even helped bring some items from the cart if it was further away. Some favorites-- the custard-filled pineapple bun, taro puff, congee, sesame balls, chive/pork dumplings, duck and of course chicken feet! They have all the dim sum classics, and I loved that their cart with the pan fried items had a griddle to keep items warm and briefly crisped up when served. This will be my go-to for dim sum going forward!

Vivien W.

Yelp
Our family have been eating dim sum at the Empress for over 20 years. It has never disappointed us. The waitstaff has always been friendly and efficient. The wait on the weekends and holidays can be long, so go early or plan to wait in line. Enjoy the scrumptious little bits!

Pamela F.

Yelp
Wow. The best dim sum in Denver. We have lunch there at least once a month and are never disappointed. Service is efficient and they are very kind. The Peking Duck is awesome. We often order to go and entertain at home with it.
google avatar

Alexa N.

Yelp
I've been trying to find a good dim sum place in Denver and Empress did not disappoint. Their dim sum is available everyday till 7:45 pm. We ate here for dinner and there was no wait with our group of 8. We got a a big assortment of buns, sui mai, dumplings, noodle dishes, sesame chicken and fried rice. The sesame chicken was flavorful. Some of the buns and dumplings were better than others but i felt like the overall price for what we got was very reasonable and we even had leftovers to take home. Our server was very nice and gave us extra fortune cookies after saying they were our favorite part of the meal!
google avatar

Christin S.

Yelp
Amazing spot for comforting dim sum, and they deliver! Plus is there anything more satisfying than when you order so much food it takes a cardboard box to hold all of the containers? Everything was delicious, but our absolute faves (in no particular order) were the shrimp toast, bbq buns, ha kao (also spelled hai gow/har gow), glutinous rice, and the deep fried meat dumplings! The perfect meal for a Sunday afternoon.

Helena T.

Yelp
Maybe it's because we came on a Tuesday.. the food wasn't very fresh. You can tell it's reheated and the taste wasn't great either. The marinated tripe with radish also didn't have great seasoning. Pretty watery. The first time we came to Denver we went to Star Kitchen. This time we thought we'd try The Empress. Pretty disappointed. I'd choose The Star next time.
google avatar

Brianna D.

Yelp
My friend and I walked in, no reservation. We were greeted and seated immediately as there wasnt that many people there. They offered water and hot tea to start which was nice. We ordered the Crab Wontons, Mango Chicken, Veggie Lo Mein, and Sesame Beef. The wontons and sweet and sour sauce really didnt have any flavor and little filling. The mango chicken and lo mein were good but again not super flavorful. We did however love the Sesame beef and the fried texture. We were even offered sesame red bean balls which we thought was a nice touch up until we got the bill and saw we were charged for them. The customer service up until issue with the bill was fantastic. Once i asked what the additional charge was the waitress explained it was the sesame balls and when I asked why we were charged if it was offered to us as a gift? She explained they walk around each table with items to sell. I expressed that they should explain its an item for sale as it isnt something we would of ordered. Thankfully she offered to take off the charge. Overall it wasnt that bad but not sure i would go again for the price.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here as we love to try new dimsum restaurants. We think that the dimsum was mediocre (siumai, bean curd) but the winning dish was the Fish Maw Soup and the Salt and Pepper Squid. the Fish maw soup had so much fish maw and the umami was amazing, we loved it! And the Salt and Pepper Squid was so crispy and flavorful, that we had to order another one to go!
google avatar

KELLY M.

Yelp
Came here for dim sum on the day I landed. Let me say this place never turn me around and walk away. There are plenty seating, food come out quick. Not a lot of dim sum place have the pushing cart. This really make my afternoon. Parking lot available. Would come back here again.

Yelp
After two attempts to get into Star Kitchen with long waits both times we decided to check out The Empress which is only a stones throw away S K. We arrived around 1:30 and the place was pretty empty, After being seated, and checking out the dim sum roster, the nice trolley lady wheeled herself over to our table. We grabbed some Sui Mei, some baby ribs in BB sauce, Har Gow, sticky rice, and some steamed BBQ pork buns... Service was very efficient, and friendly, the man that seemed to be the manager, came over frequently to make sure we were being taken care of, asking if we needed anything, and even suggesting a few items off of the menu, which we appreciated. All of the items that we ordered were pretty standard in taste, with M D F saying she liked the sticky rice more than at the last dim sum place we stopped at last week.
google avatar

Ray K.

Yelp
Great service and selecrions for dim sum. Always get the shu mai shrimp ball and bean curd rolls. In and out quickly and satisfied.

Yelp
There are not many Chinese restaurants in town in business longer than the Empress Seafood Restaurant. Yes, its Chinese names and owners changed several times, but the restaurant is always here, so it has become a staple for quite a lot of customers. Besides being one of the three Chinese dim sum restaurants (the other two are Star Kitchen and Super Star), after the closure of King's Land, it probably is the only Chinese restaurants in Denver large enough to host hundreds of guests and one of the few specialized in authentic Chinese banquet foods. Here is an example of their more economical banquet set with Chinese BBQ platter, seafood with bean curd soup, braised black mushroom with vegetables, walnut shrimps, Peking Duck, black mushroom braised E-Fu noodles, steamed Strip Bass and Peking style pork chops.
google avatar

Chikako S.

Yelp
Visited Sunday evening and had some dim sums and crispy pan fried seafood noodle. The best dim sum was steamed shrimp and Chinese chive dumpling. Pan fried seafood noodle was really good! Shrimp, squid, scallop and pieces of white fish were all very fresh. Jasmin tea was brought to our table without asking and it was charged $1.50 at the end. I advise you not to use restroom here. Bring had sanitizer or wipes to clean your hands....
google avatar

Yelp
This is my all time favorite dim sum restaurant in Colorado. I live in Aurora but I'm down to make the drive every now and then. It's an authentic vibe. You can tell this has been passed down from generation to generation. It's a very close knit group and they're all passionate about keeping legacy of being one of the best dim sum restaurants in Colorado. I love going on Sundays when they break out the dim sum carts and they'll heat the potstickers in front of you. It's the best because it's so fresh! They have so many servers going around at once so it's nice to be able to grab whatever you'd like.
google avatar

Kim C.

Yelp
The service was great. Everything is so good. Love the fried pork and chashu pork. The dumpling was good. We literally tried every dumpling lol.
google avatar

Amiel C.

Yelp
Food was fine overall but what set this place apart was the service. Servers were attentive and very quick. There are some Chinese restaurants with servers who look like they hate their lives but the staff at Empress looked pretty happy. This was my first time dine in. I usually ordered food on delivery APP. So it was pretty nice to see what the restaurant is like
google avatar

Ryan H.

Yelp
Our favorite Chinese food in Denver! We normally go from Dim Sum, but we ordered in for Christmas dinner this time. Happy to report the dinner menu is as good as the Dim Sum. As you can see from the picture, we had plenty of food so I'm not even sure what the best one to recommend is. The most impressive thing might have been that they go our giant order over the phone 100% correct! Can't wait to go back, make sure you give it a try!
google avatar

Tina H.

Yelp
Was looking for a dim sum place during my visit in Denver. I arrived around 10:30am on a Saturday morning and it was completely EMPTY inside. I thought it was a bit odd that it was empty but whatever I proceeded. Our server was super friendly and attentive. There was only two dim sum carts rolling but it had everything we wanted so that was okay too. We had, Crispy pork belly 5/5- the best thing we ordered so crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Gyoza 2/5- pan fried, it was room temperature, not much in the fillings the gyoza was huge but it was just the flour itself. Beef riblets 3/5- very soft and tender but just room temperature also. Shumai 3/5- tasting was a bit off, nothing special either Shrimp dumpling 5/5- can't go wrong with this one, every bite was delish Pork buns 5/5- the pork filling was so good and the bao was fluffy and soft All in all, I wouldn't recommend even though they were nice I would try dim sum somewhere else.

Shelly G.

Yelp
Good dim sum. Love the Siu Mai, shrimp puffs, cucumber salad, Pad Thai, shrimp fried rice, egg drop soup.
google avatar

Robert D.

Yelp
Put me on the shitter. Fish tanks are grimy asf. I thought I saw rot on the rotisserie "chicken". Service was alright as the waiters were polite. Other than that, shit was god awful. Do not recommend.
google avatar

Lan N.

Yelp
Excellent, our new #1 dim sum in Denver. As good as our fave dim sum place in San Francisco HK Lounge. Essentials like siu mai, har gow, shrimp rice rolls, shrimp chive dumpling, porridge were especially on point. The garlic pea shoots, spareribs, roast duck were also nice. Besides some minor wishes from a few dishes like perhaps wanting some more crispy char on the turnip cake or XLB having more broth in the spoon (the meat filling retained all the broth which still had great balanced flavor), we loved it. Big sunny banquet room vibes. We would take out of town friends craving dim sum here. Arrived at 10am on a Sunday, got a spot in the parking lot and sat down immediately. Staff was attentive in filling our paper tally order and carts came around frequently since most of the restaurant still empty at this time. It filled up quickly by the time we left.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
I love dim sum. This place was not that expressive. The place was sorta dirty. Food was ok but not great. We did get seated fast and service was ok. Overall eat at your own risk.
google avatar

Brian J.

Yelp
This restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember and for good reason. They serve good authentic Chinese food! If you come here during the weekend, expect to wait. But if you come during the week you won't have to wait long if at all. One thing I will say is don't come here if you are expecting 5 dining service. It's just not happening here. The people are nice but they just aren't as attentive. You have to wait a little longer to grab their attention. The food though is delicious. I have dined here during their lunch, including their Dimsum, and dinner. And I would suggest trying dimsum here if you have never been to a dimsum restaurant. They don't get packed during the week and they aren't as pushy as some other restaurants. They do also have unique dishes that are quite unique to the western pallet but this is where I do most of my ordering. But trust me, you can't go wrong.
google avatar

Ethereal T.

Yelp
This was the real deal. Their fried radish cake and sweet sesame balls were perfect. It's an authentic experience, and half a Peking duck goes for a really great price.
google avatar

Joy Q.

Yelp
Okay dim sum. Very friendly service (then ladies with the cart) Came here on Saturday lunch peak time and there was no wait. So that was a plus

Josh K.

Yelp
While Star Kitchen is our favorite dim-sum in Denver, we tried this place because they serve dim-sum for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the foods there. While we have to order from menu with photos, foods came right away, and they were mostly good (except deep-fried fake-crab item).

Glenda J.

Yelp
On point for Cantonese dim sum. Service is great once you arrive but such a challenge getting the check. I was too excited at the great food to take pictures. Will definitely be back!!

Bill P.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The entire lunch special, costing $15 was tasteless, tough to eat, and lacked even the basics. I smothered it with provided soy sauce, a plum sauce and mustard but the rice tasted like bits of cardboard and the egg Foo Yung was so tough I had to pull it apart. The very small egg roll was passable but it was only a couple of small bites. I tossed 90% vowing to never return

Fb I.

Yelp
Best date I've ever been on. The food was fantastic and the wait was not long. Servers were really amazing as well.
