"Somewhat hidden on the ground floor of a mixed-user on Fairfax, it’s easy to forget that The Fat Dog even exists. But you shouldn’t. Because with free underground parking, a great Happy Hour (weeknights from 4pm-7pm) and a solid menu full of things you’ll want to eat after a long day, Fat Dog is your ultimate after-work hang out spot." - Brant Cox

"Fairfax gastropub the Fat Dog is closing after more than eight years. Staff was told yesterday of the upcoming shutter, slated to go down on December 23, and now Susann and Richard Mandeville have gone public, telling Eater that “unfortunately... it is no longer sustainable for us to keep Fairfax open.” Starting today, the restaurant will keep only happy hour through dinner hours (starting at 4 p.m.), meaning no more lunch or brunch. The menu will also slim down considerably as the final day of service inches closer, so best to get in sooner rather than later for a final meal. The North Hollywood location will stay open." - Farley Elliott

Came here with my girlfriend to visit some friends that live nearby. They had a decent selection of beers and the service was great, but the food definitely fell flat. I ordered "Fish and Chips" figuring it's not hard to get that wrong (and I love it). Well, the first couple bites were great, but it was all bad after that. The fish was a bit chewy, rubbery almost. And the second piece of fish was not cooked all the way through. The batter was still gooey on the inside. My girlfriend enjoyed her sandwich and tomato soup, but since this is my review and not hers, I'm going with 3 stars. I probably won't be back.

Very familiar place. Chill vibe, great brews and food and a kickass staff. Oh, ps- the music playlist is on point and Dillan is one cool cat~!

I ordered Alternative Burger. First bite, I tasted nuts and fresh alfalfa sprouts was spread in my mouth was delicious and feel healthy. Burger with mint mayo was unique in different experience.  Restaurant atmosphere and customer service was good.

Still the best veggie burger I've ever had. Every time I come into town it's a must visit. I had some sort of beer cocktail I can't recall the name and it was almost as delicious

I've been here many times, with my fat dog. I like this place because it doesn't seem to attract many of the fevered Hollywood egos that plague other spots. Patrons tends to be pretty relaxed and grown up. The staff here are always super friendly, down to earth, and on it. The stodgy food is really good, but stodgy. There's a smallish, but good, selection of draft beer. I've never had much luck with or love for their cocktails, or for any of the lighter food on the menu, so it's slowly become my stodgy meal + beer go-to. But that's maybe just me.

Great food, good beer selection, and one to keep in mind if you don't want to leave the house without the dog. However, I will say the patio area is relatively small so it's likely you'll be close to other dogs if yours doesn't like other dogs. Otherwise, I'll definitely be back for happy hour in the near future.

I had a fantastic burger at Fat Dog that I'll never forget. It was my first burger in LA upon moving here. It was the best burger I've had in ages. And one of the best in LA. Since that first LA burger I've returned for other goodies. The Fat Dog is a must! So delicious and perfect. The Brussels Caesar is also incredible I recommend you try this place!
