On the Grid : The Gallows

"There's no other way to put it, The Gallows is just a really awesome bar. It's a neighborhood haunt at it's heart, with a staff that will likely remember your name as well as your drink order. The bar serves up inventive cocktails based on classic recipes often with a flare for kitschy concoctions. The food menu is made of risky translations of American comfort food like a grilled corn muffin with pulled pork, jalapeño pepper jelly, avocado and pickled red onion or the Carpet Burger topped with fried oysters, chipotle rémoulade, grilled onions and cheese. Daily poutines are an instant bar favorite. It can get a bit loud, but that's part of it's charm." - Adam&Co.

The Gallows - Review - South End - Boston - The Infatuation

"This South End restaurant gets its name from the fact that it stands on the site where Boston used to hang people in the 18th century. Pretty unpleasant. What’s less unpleasant, though, is the place itself: a gastropub with filling food and enough booze to make you start talking to the ghosts who probably hang out in the bathroom. We love the falafel burger, but they also have three different types of poutine, so there’s that." - Dan Secatore

Perfect go to for brunch. Located next to the majestic cathedral, place gas cool views and great food. Skillet was very tasty, and service was ok. Place gets quite busy, so prepare to wait a bit. Drink side quality was good too, despite the fact that I got cold cup of coffee. Mimosas tasted good, also Bloody Mary’s were great, specifically the spicy one. Lot of good looking people around, so date is a good idea here, or just go as an single! Recommended and worth while going!😊

Went here for brunch on a Saturday morning. I recommend going early because it gets busy. We had a reservation so that sat us quickly and the server was polite and provided fast service. Not a ton of options on the menu so it helps in picking what you want easier. The food came out quick, it had great presentation, and most importantly very delicious. Definitely Top 10 brunch spots in Boston on my list.

Just stopped for drinks. Their cocktail menu was amazing and I loved their decor. Plus friendly staff and quick service at the bar even though it was a bit crowded was great. Prices are normal for cocktails.

Don't believe the hype... This place looks cool (great decor), hell... the food looks cool, but that's all it has going for it. Please note, my experience was more than fine (I'm terms of service); this review is simply what it is, and it's more than fair. [In a nutshell] The menu is facetious, the prices are ridiculously high, the portions are far too small, and the taste is mediocre at best. Seriously, we had five people purchase seven different food items... The food does not fit the pricing at all. ... That's proven by looking at the drink menu... Expect to pay twice as much for your favorite drinks, cause they're way over charging here. I only gave them two stars for the unique decor; they need major overhaul on menu and prices or they be out if business soon enough.

Their brunch menu is amazing. I had an everything DONUT sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese. It was amazing! Also. When I go here I usually get the falafel burger. It is so delicious. It’s packed with so much taste! i mean, just look at that burger! It’s a great option for any vegetarian. Also, they have pesto fries which are an absolute must.

I loved this place! The food was great and the design of the restaurant was pretty unique. I went on a Sunday for brunch and even though the place was packed, my friend and I didn't even have to wait for a table which was a good sign. We both ordered the fried chicken and pancakes and absolutely loved it. The service was absolutely amazing too. Our waiter was incredibly friendly, knew the menu well, and extremely accommodating for my friend's food preferences. I would absolutely recommend you go here.
