The Garden Room

I am so happy that I found this gem of a dress shop in Austin! I am from out of town and I was looking for a dress for a black tie event that will be happening this weekend. The selection and their service was truly awesome. Unique designer clothes are found here!

This review is long overdue This store has timeless and unique fashion. Patty Houffpauir, Owner, not only has an eye for fashion but personally knows the designers of all the quality lines she carries from all over the world. Patty creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. She is an amazing owner/leader and because of that, as well as the staff’s personable demeanors, we have purchased many one of a kind clothing items and this store will continue to be our personal boutique. Her entire staff are always extremely attentive and helpful, especially Kate Thompson. She is amazingly knowledgeable about The Garden Room’s unique and exquisite product line and projects genuine interest in helping us find items that meet our wants rather than just being focused on making a quick sale. You have fantastic products and the staff that has the knowledge to explain the quality and value of those products. We look forward to continued purchases from The Garden Room. I never knew this store was here, but I had a doctors appointment across the street on 38th street I was early so my mom and I wanted to kill some time and decided to go in the store. My experience was not good from the moment we walked in we’re were treated like we didn’t belong there! I don’t know if the tall full figured blond woman was the owner or manager but I tried speaking to her making conversation she said nothing however she was very talkative to the other women in the store. I realize I can’t spend $250 on a shirt but you should treat everyone equally and not judge a book by its cover!

This upscale boutique has a large selection of clothes, shoes and accessories for any occasion. They have casual wear and sportswear as well as evening wear. This is a great place to shop for luxury brands not carried at Neimann's or Nordstrom. They have items for all sorts of styles. The store is relatively big, the sale room is fairly large too. The sales associates are so helpful. I love shopping here!

There is always something special at The Garden Room. It has amazing customer service and beautiful fashion and accessories. An Austin treasure.

It is definitely a garden in here! Lovely ladies are waiting to help you with gorgeous pants, tops, dresses and evening wear. Some items are a bit spendy while others are not. Be sure to check out the sale room in the back! Joan was extremely helpful and patient while I tried on a myriad of tops, dresses and pants for my "special occasion". The designer jewelry is beautiful and unique. This would be the perfect place to shop if you have a dressy or formal event in your future. I was grateful for the large iced water jug that continued to quench my thirst as I worked up a sweat in the dressing room. The rooms are large with a sofas and lots of mirrors for whirling around in your special dress. Years ago, I inherited a mink coat from a relative that I was never going to wear. The Garden Room recently shipped it off and had two mink bears created for me. Adorable!

I just discovered the joy that is the Garden Room. If you love unique, elegant, feminine style you need to check this out. It is expensive, but the quality is there and the ladies are wonderful. You will ooh and ah over things you have never seen before! I was able to order a blouse I can't wait to get and I bought two treasures from the sale room!

I would have to say I AM a sales shopper and have been for 20 years but they still take care of me and when I have had an event I needed something "right now" the owner has always picked out something that was fabulous that I may not have picked out for myself. I personally do NOT like going to malls or dept stores so finding a store like the Garden Room where you get personal attention may be a thing of the past soon but take advantage while you can !

Love this store! I am never disappointed here. Plan to stay a while -- the staff can keep finding things that work and bringing them to your dressing room for as long as you can stay. It's the perfect stop for a special occasion dress, but they also have darling jackets that work over slacks and a tank. If you don't like to look like everybody else wearing something from the mall, this is your store!

Yikes. $$$ is correct. But, not so nice thing is they size you up $$$ when you walk in and if they think you are a $ the attention is less than $.

Love this gem of a boutique! Disregard the review from the gal from Leander as the owner's name is Patti, not Peggy. I've been buying clothing from this shop forever. They carry the top brands and are always the first in Austin to have the newest lines and the latest from the good brands. Granted, they don't carry multiple sizes so if you find what you want in your size you should get it instead of waiting because it more than likely won't be there when you return. Their sales are phenomenal and they don't wait until the season is over before having them like some stores do. If you want quality clothing this is where you need to shop.

Contrary to the review about he dress for the wedding, I have purchased many items at The Garden Room that were within an affordable price range. And when I found a small issue with one piece the owner "Patty" offered to take it back...which I declined. The review sounded made up. The dress had spots and not one, but both, earrings broke.... HMMMMMM

NO stars! The owner of this place Peggy is an absolute nightmare! Let me start by saying do not let the high prices fool you. Her products are not high quality. My mother and I went in to find a 2 piece dress we saw in an ad for my brothers wedding. Not having any in the colors we wanted we had to pick the color from 4inch by 4 inch squares. Once we came back to pick up the $1100.00 dress my mother tried it on. It looked beautiful on her but being a silver color I saw SEVERAL dark dots on the dress. One being right on her breast and one being right in the center of the dress, and several more. My mom fearing to say anything because Peggy had already been quite rude I asked what the dark dots were and why they were on an $1100.00 dress. She VERY rudley explained the dress was Thai silk and would have many inperfections, and that she in no way would give back the deposit of $550.00 but we could just not pay the other half and she would put the dress on the floor to sell?? So our choice was to pay the additional $550 for a defective dress or lose the $550 we already payed and get no dress. She yelled this at us in front of other customers which may I add I never got short, loud or stearn as she did. We were just trying to figure out why such an expensive dress would have SO many noticable imprefections. So of course with only 2 weeks from the wedding my mom went ahead and purchased the defective dress for FULL price. Suprisingly even though I urged her not to buy anything else from Peggy she also bought a beautiful hand made pair of earrings which complimented the dress wonderfully. They cost her $289.00!!!! No real gold, silver, or gemstones, just costume jewlry. Which here is the topper! The day of the wedding my mom went to put the earrings on with her dress for the first time and the post broke off of both earrings!!!! An hour befor the wedding she was STRESSING out trying to find a jewler to fix the earrings. Thank God she did find someone to fix them but the extra stress after paying almost $300 for these earrings that broke before ever wearing them was absolutely ridiculous. Do not let the EXTREMELY HIGH prices of this boutique fool you! Not to mention she offers NO return policy even for broken, defective products, and the owner is extremely rude and cold. If shopping at these little trendy boutiques is your thing take my advice and pass this one by.
