"At the Grapevine, drinkers can shoot pool, hang out on one of the couches, or perch on the rooftop deck for an excellent view of the city. The laid-back atmosphere and strong-ass drinks attract people of all stripes, which makes for killer people-watching, especially when the Everclear-spiked peach bellinis are flowing." - Alex Gonzalez

"There are many reasons to visit the Grapevine: potent Tangaritas (frozen margaritas mixed with Tang), pickup games on the basketball half court, and the rooftop with amazing views of the downtown skyline. The laid-back dive bar straddles a few neighborhoods, so it’s almost always busy with an interesting crowd—perfect for people watching."

Dallas’ scrappy, come‑as‑you‑are classic moved to the Medical District with its patio, basketball hoop, and eclectic art intact. Dallas Morning News documented the relocation; locals still swear by its strong pours and all‑kinds‑welcome spirit.

Cool, local (semi-dive) bar in Dallas. Had a pretty good beer selection and chill atmosphere. Lots of couches and comfortable chairs. Prices weren't exorbitant, just pretty average. Glad it was close and we stopped in.

The only space to go and engage in a renewable source of joy, libation and good vibes with the best bartenders, staff, cutting edge creatives and visionaries from every walk of life in the metroplex.

My 2nd trip. I've experienced the inside and outside stages. It's OK to dance! So, come as you are. It's an inclusive spot, and you'll find no fighting here. Parkland is visible. It's not residential, so live music can go to midnight and beyond. Easy access to I-35 or I-30 via Hampton south to head back to Tarrant County.

The vibes here are amazing!! My boyfriend had a show with his RHCP tribute band, the Red Hot Ghost Peppers. The sound and service were both incredible, and the location was perfectly placed for some of the band members. The bartender and server were both so on top of everything, and they have the coolest patio area I've ever seen. Even for an August night, we were surprisingly cool with all the fans they had on. We'll definitely come back just to hang out and enjoy the excellent service!🩷

First time visiting and seriously enjoyed the vibe I don't remember the name of the bartender but she was working on a Sunday night But she was very courteous. Overall perfect dive bar spot. We are from LA and have to say we got welcomed well

Having moved back to Dallas from living in Austin for many years, I had always missed going to a quirky, cozy divey-feeling bar. The moment we walked in the decor really catches your eye and there is a small stage on the right. The bar has cute light fixtures over it and there are coin pool tables with pink and purple felt. The seating varies from sofas to chairs to bar stools inside. Outside they have a patio that extends beyond what you might expect. In other words it is massive! There is also another stage out there and the ambience is very cool. It almost feels like a brewery with tons of picnic table seating and open air for the smokers who want to smoke and socialize. The service was great, the drink selection was good, and the inside/outside hang out space was really just the best. The only downside that I can think of for this place is maybe that they don't have that much parking space? I mean that's me trying hard to come up with some flaw about this place! Come check them out, period. You won't regret it!

Cool set up with a ball court, bags, pool table and little stage. Saw a u2 cover band. They were good and played one long set - 1.5 hours.

On Monday nights we play bingo @7!!! Found this spot after looking for the best bar on a Monday in Dallas near downtown and this hangout didn’t disappoint. The host James and bartender Robert made our experience one of a kind. Drinks are cheap and everyone there is social. This place is a jewel.

Yelp
Ambiance for days that do justice to first of this venue's locations. We celebrated a birthday here and it was divey goodness. A pin ball machine en route to the restrooms. Pool tables to the side. Nice electric jukebox that works with a scanned QR code. Tons of tables, bar top space and high tops. We had some standard stuff - draft beers and Moscow Mules. Pours were stiff. Our friend celebrated a birthday here and housed about 30+ people. No one felt squished! The furniture has been around the block. If you need more support, grab a chair. Parking can be tricky. Be prepared to loop the venue. All in all, a quality hang. Cheers!

Yelp
Came here this weekend great experience! Lots of fun not packed plenty of seating. Massive place! The guys had fun playing with the basketball court. I loved the pomegranate vodka frozen drink. Great time

Yelp
Very spacious and casual bar! There is a variety of seating, including chairs, couches, bar, table, indoor, and outdoor seating. The service is fantastic, and the employees are very efficient and friendly! The outside area also has a basketball courts, a stage, And the indoor area has some games and the foosball table! Drinks were great and made fast. Would definitely come here again!

Yelp
It's our new fav place for a quick drink . wed they have a DJ . We are still waiting for the kitchen to open !!! It's been a year

Stephen S.

Yelp
Super spacious, casual bar. The staff is "meh." You would have thought I was bothering them any time I ordered a drink. I loved the old location, and the owners have brought all the kink and weirdness with them.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. It's not pretentious. It's not fancy it's welcoming it's comfortable. They have great drinks. They have an eclectic decor and I love coming over and over and over again if you'd like to shoot hoops they've got that for you as well. it's a great place.

Yelp
Eclectic Affordable bar with a basket ball hoop, indoor and outdoor seating options great for groups. Premade frozen cocktails are interesting.

Chris K.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar. Plenty of seating rather it be at the bar or some cozy leather seats in the corner. Pool tables, jukebox music and large outdoor area with stage. Barkeep very friendly. Wish we lived closer.

Drew T.

Yelp
Love the whole vibe here EXCEPT the music that's playing on the weekend. I'm not into Tejano music and it seems like that was all they allowed to play. I know someone played a NON tejano music song and it immediately was skipped. Not fair when you're PAYING to play a song on the jukebox. Just my opinion. Other than that, very friendly people/customers and most of the bartenders are cool. Especially Monday night bingo!

Patty R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, fun decor, plenty of drinks, lots of seating/standing room, music playing throughout venue.

Yelp
Improvement upon the previous location but that was pretty sweet too. Reminds me of Austin (pre-1999). Service is great. Prices reasonable. Glassware retro. Crowd makes the place. This one has a pronounced Tech-Med feel to it. (It is within 1,000 feet of one of the largest medical centers in Texas.) No clue if it's a str8 or gay bar. More of a: "U do U. I do Me" place. I mislaid my iPhone (would have been 3rd in 12 months). All the sudden groups of people I did not even know were assisting locate it. CHECK THE FURNITURE CUSHIONS! They swallow phones, wallets, and keys that slide out of pockets. Conveniently open at 1500 - shift change at hospital. Interior is kept comfy cool (probably "cold" for your girlfriend). Patio is the perfect spot to warm up. Hungary? Pretty d@mn good food truck serves sliders near the entrance. The only suggestion is the bathrooms: (1) Need outside installations and (2) Who thought it a good idea to salvage the tin doors from Club Liquid? If the fire didn't claim them the last place I'd hoped to find them was in any bar restrooms. Noisy as heck. Better than plywood I guess but closer to outhouse than retro. 9.25 / 10

Stephanie L.

Yelp
One of the best bars to grab a cocktail. I always have fun here. The bartenders are wonderful. They have bingo on Monday nights and it is so fun. I love coming here. I feel comfortable coming here by myself because someone will always chat with you.FUN FUN FUN!!!

Yelp

Yelp
I had an awesome time here at The Grapevine Bar. Their drinks are very refreshing and have a lot of great choices. The staff is super polite and respectful. The ambiance is super cool too!

Jennifer B.

Yelp
I usually love this place, but tonight was a terrible experience. It's a Monday night, and the owner allowed a guest to hire an obnoxiously loud DJ for a small birthday party. I've lived in dfw for a long time and NEVER have I seen a party have carte blanche to control the music and volume level without buying the place out. Again, I love this place, but the owner doesn't seem to react unless the feedback is negative and public. Santi, Kelsey, Rob, and Adrian are awesome!
google avatar

Kelsey O.

Yelp
New location is much bigger with the same great drinks and service. Basketball court is still there too. Vibe is still a neighborhood dive bar. Glad they were able to keep the same atmosphere as before.
google avatar

Tiffanie S.

Yelp
The rooftop deck literally crumbled underneath me (I weigh 130lb) and was assisted by a bar tender with a dirty bar cloth. When I asked for a first aide kit or anything of the sort, I was given a bottle of rubbing alcohol to clean up with. They had me leave my name, number and email for the owner to contact me. Have not heard from the owner yet. They did close the rooftop down immediately.

Yelp
Very cool bar. Their new location is very nice and all the old staff are still there. Great drinks, eclectic atmosphere and very diverse crowd.

Jesus M.

Yelp
What a great place to hang out. The staff were friendly, drinks were good, music wasn't too loud, etc. what stood out to me was the size of this bar, it felt spacious which I liked. I read some past reviews with one star and I would completely disagree and assume they are exaggerating. It's clear as day that you have to be 21 and over to enter, regardless if it's empty or not. Rules are rules and there are no loopholes. Great place, I recommend.

April T.

Yelp
First time here, the bar itself and atmosphere was great. The bartender was scary though. He (white male blonde hair) screamed (forehead vein popping out and everything) at my friend and I for our unsatisfactory tip amount (we were mid pulling out extra cash). Then threw some of the money back at us and said that line "you obviously need this more than I do". He then poorly attempted to get 2 other patrons at the bar to also shame us for the tip amount. When my friend attempted to calm him down and explain we were actively in the process of getting more cash for him he literally wouldn't let them speak.. just yelled at the top of his lungs over and over again "don't go out if you don't know how to tip". It only stopped because we finally just walked away. When we stepped onto the patio and were trying to process what the hell had just happened, there were several different groups of people who stated they also got yelled at or had passive aggressive remarks made to them by the same bartender as well. So I imagine he is very comfortable with displaying this kind of behavior. When I tell you it was the most uncomfortable experience for everyone involved, I am not exaggerating. I did bartend for a few years and if there's one thing i retained from that time, it's that it is not okay to be drunk while working behind the bar /:

Yelp
Read the mixed reviews and wanted to give this place a try before they changed location. Walked in, SO asked a simple question, got a sarcastic response. So we walked out. Maybe my feelings were hurt and I'm a sensitive cookie, but don't give my SO that kind of response. So no comments on the drinks but definitely the service was not there. ‍

Yelp
Neighborhood gem. A great melting pot of quirky locals. Plenty of comfy seating, a variety of outdoor lounges ranging from a large covered patio to a small bird's nest nook to a basketball court with 70s jr high school picnic tables. You might stumble into a random mariachi band or a group of drag queens; every time I've been it was a mixed bag of nuts. And it was always fun with plenty of frozen peach dranks and fundraiser Jell-O shots adding to the festivities. Long live grapevine!
google avatar

Betsy O.

Yelp
Mediocre dirty dive bar. They pride themselves in gross bathrooms and couches that look like they came off a curb. The patio would be cool but they don't allow pets. There are plenty of other good bars to hang out in in that part of town. Would rather spend money elsewhere.
google avatar

Graham K.

Yelp
Talk about a dive (in a good way). I stopped in just at the end of happy hour. It feels like you are stepping into some kind of grotto. There are multiple rooms, one with a pool table, different kinds of furniture, and a huge backyard outdoor area complete with basketball court. It wasn't too lively when I stopped in, so it was easy to get around, but I can imagine it getting packed later at night, especially on the weekends. Not sure what to get to drink, I wanted to try something specific to Grapevine. The bartender was a little curt, but I was also being indecisive. I went with the frozen margarita slushy, It was hot that day and I was in the mood for something refreshing. It was sold, a little tart, and a little sweet, (a little too much so for my taste, but that is personal preference.) Since I was by myself I didn't stay for too long, but it is a unique spot to stop in.
google avatar

Allison H.

Yelp
Nice dive bar with an awesome atmosphere. Great frozen drinks! My friends really enjoyed the pool table and the basketball hoop out back.
google avatar

Jared H.

Yelp
It's been a while since the bar closed for remodeling, but they reopened in 2021 & so far, it's been a very fun mix of folks. I've been trying to follow COVID-19 guidelines as much as possible, so I did limit my visit time a bit as more guests arrived, but most in Dallas are Triple Vaxxed in the Gay Community now. I can't speak for all, but of my friend group, we all have 3 shots of either Pfizer or Moderna's Triple Shot Cocktail...& we've all been okay. I'm venturing out this weekend, pre-TBRU to scope out the cute 's out there already, & I have always enjoyed The GV! I don't drink, so people usually just get me Soda or Water, but I'm not sure of drink prices...but I don't hear people complain much, so, I think it's fairly reasonable!
google avatar

Lane P.

Yelp
The Grapevine is a fun little spot with one particularly cool benefit....their patio! How many dive bars have a huge outdoor seating area on multiple levels? Not many. How many have a window to a cheesecake shop? Even fewer! The Grapevine has a pretty standard full bar and reasonable prices. But the atmosphere is what really makes it. Stop in, have a drink in the back and grab a bite of cheesecake.
google avatar

Brenton B.

Yelp
Really cool dive bar in Dallas. We had the pleasure of hanging out here at a post wedding brunch while we were in Dallas. The inside portion is quite small and pretty divey, but the outdoor patio is great size and can accommodate a good amount of people. Additionally, there is a full bar outside to take care of the guests on the patio and/or you can bring drinks outside from the indoor bar. Good variety and quality of beers available on tap. Decent cocktails and they also have Jell-O shots available if you dare... Definitely a cool spot. Check it out.
google avatar

Nora F.

Yelp
Cute little divey spot. You have to walk to 3-4 different sections of the bar to get to the backyard. The front entrance has a bar, couches, .m Nm and recliners for hanging out, but is pretty loud if you are trying to have a convo with people. The second area has a pool table, and the back area has another bar outside
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
"I'll take an extra strong tonic with a squeeze of lime," my friend giggled and said. The bartender asked for her ID and said, "no charge." The Grapevine Bar is located at the corner of maple and oak lawn. Parking is tricky, but there is a little cheesecake shop next door, so it's worth scouring the streets. Happy hour is a steal and the bartenders are knowledgeable and quirky. When asked for a recommendation they all sounded good, so, I said, "surprise me." He gave me the suicide. This is a fun and eclectic spot with plenty of charm for all ages. The drinks are reasonable (cheap even) and potent. Come for the atmosphere and stay for the charm. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Don't judge a book by its cover. This place is fantastic and a huge recommendation! Atmosphere: this is a super cute and unexpected dive bar. You walk in and it seems a little small. But as you keep walking you reach a room with a pool table and more chairs. Then you walk into an outside patio area with an additional bar! Bust a left and there's a basketball court and more seating. Keep going straight and you'll head upstairs to roof seating! This place is definitely more than you'd expect. Drinks: they make a variety of drinks and are pretty decently priced. Specifically during happy hour, you can't go wrong! They have some premade frozen drinks that are awesome as well, specially the Bellini. The only downfall is that all of the music is run by the jukebox. If people aren't paying, they aren't playing. Other than that I totally recommend!
google avatar

Cicely P.

Yelp
This is my fav bar!!! I love the vibe of this place. Very laid back with chill jukebox playlist. The bartender with the beard is always on point. As he knows the perfect time to refill your drink. I come here after a long day of meetings and it puts me in a relaxed mood every time. No dress code just chill people wearing cool cloths. Back again after a short hiatus and this place never disappoints. Roof top patio is quaint with views of green trees. I'm in my happy place!!
google avatar

Yen L.

Yelp
This is probably the cheapest bar in the Dallas area. I got 3 whisky coke + a frozen peach margarita and everything was only $21!!! You really can't beat that. That would've cost me $50 in uptown or anywhere else. As it is a dive bar, the atmosphere is very casual and the crowds are laid back. It may look small from the outside but don't let it fool ya! After the main area is a cute little room with pool table ($1 per game - cash only). When you walk out the back door, there's a covered patio area as well as a spacious uncovered area (smoking is allowed). As you head to the very end of the covered patio area, there's a sign to guide you to the staircase leading up to the uncovered balcony upstairs with 5-6 tables. The only Con is that it is isolated. There are plenty of street parking and private FREE parking lot. I highly recommend coming here if you don't wanna deal with the traffic and expensive drinks in uptown or lower Greenville.
google avatar

Kendall B.

Yelp
They charged me for a cup of water.... from the faucet! The vibe was just not right for me! Will revisit after the pandemic.... but save your money and go elsewhere!
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Such a cool bar!! Outside seating area is super chill. Drinks were cold and bar tender was great.
google avatar

Van N.

Yelp
This bar gives a chill Austin vibe to the otherwise hustle Dallas bar scenes down the street. You its a low key patio bar with a starter pool table in the middle (the have bumpers on the side to make the pool table). The crowd is very warm. The bartenders on the other hand very rude. My friend ordered a beer that was not available and she rudely told him if he looked up he'll see all the beers they have. Like it was a sin to not know that already. We only had one beer and left. Theres plenty of bars in town.
google avatar

Joi B.

Yelp
The Grapevine is incredible. Yes, it has that divey feel (without being full of dodgy types), but they have Champagne! There's even Dom on that menu and despite the inherent joy in drinking a 300 dollar bottle of Champagne in less than posh environs, my wallet wasn't in cooperation. But still! Where else can you do this? Plus, there's a positively cozy feeling that you don't typically get in what one erroneously chalk off as any old dive bar. So yeah, this isn't that place. It's one inviting room leading into another and there's a really swell patio as well. I settled for a reasonably priced glass or three of bubbly and had all the good feels throughout my time here. It's the kind of place where you feel like you could stay all night. Grapevine... I hope to see you again soon, old friend.
google avatar

Brian ..

Yelp
Fun neighborhood bar in Oak Lawn with friendly staff and great cocktails. A real mixed diverse clientele gay/ straight you name it. Makes for fun people watching and meeting new peeps. Wide age range old and young. The huge outdoor patio area is only covered by humongous trees which really make for a tranquil and fun environment. Everyone seems to be welcome here. Non pretentious and casual.

Yelp
After Sunday funday at brunch, my friend the Yelp Elite OG Venus C. suggested dropping by the Grapevine. Since I was off the next day I decided to tag along and have a drink. The parking lot is raggedy. But once we got inside, the bar was really charming. The signs are hilarious and made me giggle. My favorite part of the bar besides the signs was the fact that they have frozen drinks. It's so rare to find a bar with frozen drinks these days. I opted for the pom pom and I want to try the Tangerita next time. The pom pom was so yummy and tickled my fancy for the afternoon. After sitting and chatting for a bit, Venus suggested that we go out back to check out the basketball (?) court. We ventured out back and saw a big screen where a large crowd was watching the Saints game (sorry for walking by, at least it was during a commercial break!). In addition to the big screen, there was another bar area, several tables, a big patio, and to my surprise a lot of space. Overall, the Grapevine is a pretty cool dive bar. I will definitely have to return to try the other frozen drinks and sit outside once the fall weather hits.
google avatar

Kristie A.

Yelp
The GV and I are still in a very serious relationship after all these years. It's always hard for me to pick a favorite of anything, because I love all things for different reasons. But if you put a gun to my head and told me I had to pick just one favorite bar, it would definitely be the Grapevine. I have never had a bad time here, and some of the regulars have become my friends over the years. Happy hour is my favorite time to roll in, especially when Jon or Kevin is working (balls to Gail for moving away!). In summary: Cheap drinks. Diverse crowd. Huge patio/roof top patio. Great bartenders. Best bar in town!
google avatar

Jordan N.

Yelp
Cool dive bar with a cool patio. The patio has a basketball net, so yes, people can just pick up ball and play. You can also order "food" from next door through the window facing the patio - although the food options are not the same as the ones I saw in the pictures. No more arepas, unfortunately. In its place are some overpriced cheesecakes and sandwiches, but they do have savory ones. It would be good if the food options improved. But as far as a bar go, the drinks are great, and affordable. I had a mixed drink called the Cumberf**k and one was enough to almost knock me out, surprisingly. No bar minimum for credit cards, thankfully.
google avatar

Lois H.

Yelp
Love this dive bar! It's has some very very cheap drinks and a basketball goal in the back. Had an amazing time with my friends and I would recommend this bar to anyone looking to have a good time.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Drunk off my first drink at Grapevine while writing this review. Yes. Just yes. This is the bar with personality, cheap drinks, and ample parking and seating I've been looking for in Dallas. Step inside for happy hour and the bartender immediately hits me up and starts giving me the rundown. Wifi password, the usual drink specials, and oh what is that? Yup, frozen drinks with everclear, vodka, tequila. All the good stuff. I order their special - the cumberfuck - which I am informed they are the only place in the universe that serves it. Cucumber, vodka, and a splash of pomegranate slush? Yes. Then just when I think things can't get better, I learn that my first drink is free. My next drink is $4. And it is strong. Commence the happy hour.

Justine A.

Yelp
Yeah these bad reviews I can confirm. Where do I begin? The bartender was rude to me and my friend group. Racist place for sure. It was 30 degrees out and we were seated near the entrance. An employee had the door open because the owner was "coming" like so what it's freezing and you can't even be considerate to close the damn door until she arrives? After a look of disgust and our request to please close the door. They refused to close the door and said to my husband "what are you still doing here?" Which those words were said by the owner herself when she arrived. I definitely regret spending a penny here. No class in this place and zero consideration. Please don't waste your time or money, take it some place more deserving than these clowns.

Yelp
Great crowd, good music, awesome staff and heavy pours! It has a pool table, heated patio, rooftop patio and a courtyard with games.

Camille I.

Yelp
Staff looked up my boyfriend's dead name from his initials on his card. Came to the table and yelled his dead name multiple times even after he claimed the card and asked the waitress to stop calling him that. His dead name is not linked to his card so this disgusting woman went out of her way to LOOK HIM UP. To top that- another bartender came up and cursed us out without hesitation or willingness to listen to our side. Point blank- treat people like human beings. Laurie, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Yelp
This is the best dive bar in Dallas! There is no better! Been going there for at least , have no idea ? I have been there for New Year's Eve! I have been there to cry, for a broken heart! I have been there to play Horse, with my date wearing high heels I have been there to " I don't give a damn ". I have been there to to watch a play off game for the wonderful DALLAS MAVERICKS!!!! I live downtown now . And I'm 20 years older or more... A gentlemen never tells. But when I want a great time, where everyone belongs , and I am not kidding, Doctors, Warriors, lawyers, Artist, astronauts, transvestites, ... so silly, all of humanity, can go here. Sounds crazy, maybe the judge mental people should not go here! But how would they learn. To be free, to love, and to remember, GOD... is between you r head and your heart.
