"About three or four blocks down from Locust is The Henry, an Arizona transplant that has something for everyone, including that one person in your party whose idea of adventurous eating is leaving the crust on a peanut butter and jelly. And while we take personal issue with the pretentious description of “lime a’la minute” for fresh lime juice, their cocktails are solid. The Korean prime skirt steak is especially delicious, and there’s a sushi section for those particularly disappointed over missing out on Locust’s raw scallop dish." - ann walczak
"Fact: Eating oatmeal in a comfortable leather seat makes it taste better. We learned this during one breakfast at The Henry, stirring in raisin preserves to our porridge and contemplating if it’d be too early to sip some bourbon from the 200ish bottles staring us in the face. Breakfast at The Henry is moody in a cigar-lounge way, soaked in really smooth espresso, and leans on the kind of healthy side. Things like avocado toast, an egg white omelette, and a quinoa bowl are great, but our go-to tends to be the California burrito with a sort of spicy salsa that kicks our eyes open in the morning. And throw in a pastry like a pan de chocolate, which they actually make in-house." - bailey freeman, ann walczak
"The Henry / Fox Restaurant Concepts The Henry is a spot in 12 South that’s practically built to feed the hordes of bachelorettes who’ve worked up an appetite after marathon shopping at Draper James. It has a bright, French bistro atmosphere working for it, and there’s a scenic covered patio upstairs that’s tucked away from the main dining room. This is the best place to fit a sizeable group of people since it feels a bit more private up there. The American food, like truffled brie toast, burgers, steak, and seared ahi tuna with creamy green curry rice, aren’t the most complex or creative, but they’re really, really good. We’ve even been here when a budding singer-songwriter starts randomly belting “Viva la Vida” during dinner." - jackie gutierrez jones 2
"Looking to tower above 12 South? One of the neighborhood’s newest additions, The Henry, offers a stunning covered terrace attached to its second-level dining room. Design touches include striped booths, frilly umbrellas, and hanging plants outside. It’s a swanky setting complete with menu items like oysters, filet mignon, braised short rib, and fine champagne." - Kellie Walton
"We like The Cheesecake Factory as much as the next person, so it’s with no shade that we say this: The Henry is a slightly upscale version of the famed brown bread purveyor. The use cases here are many—brunch in 12 South, a working lunch, or a nice-but-not-too-nice date. And like the good ol’ Factory, there’s something on the menu for pretty much everyone. The American-leaning food isn’t the most complex or creative, but it’s consistently good. There’s a punchy chicken tortilla soup and cranberry and honey-slathered truffled brie toast to start, along with surprisingly decent sushi. The burger is a hefty two-hander topped with white cheddar and american cheese. There’s also seared ahi tuna with creamy green curry rice if you’re looking for something lighter. And while the portions aren’t quite Cheesecake Factory huge, they’re more than enough to satisfy and leave a little room for dessert—maybe even some of their rotating cheesecake flavors on special. photo credit: The Henry / Fox Restaurant Concepts photo credit: Fox Restaurant Groups photo credit: Jason Bihler photo credit: The Henry / Fox Restaurant Concepts Pause Unmute The main dining room feels like you’ve entered a dim and moody brasserie fit for a clutch dinner date—especially with the addition of a Fancy French Toddy. But the sunlit covered patio upstairs is the best place to fit a sizeable group of people for brunch. Like a horde of bachelorettes who’ve worked up an appetite after marathon shopping at Draper James. Food Rundown Truffled Brie Toast There’s a little bit of everything in terms of taste and texture in here: crunchy, gooey, sweet, salty, with a dash of umami. A fun starter to warm up the palate. photo credit: The Henry Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice The sticky rice in the dish could be a stand-in for a hashbrown, with its crisp, brown exterior. Even though the rice inside borders on being too dry, the sweet soy sauce drizzled on top, along with the ruby red tuna, swoop in to save the day. All-American Burger This is your traditional, thick-cut burger patty with all the traditional fixings: lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. Overcooking can be an issue leaving the beef a bit dry, but mayo-based Henry sauce adds back some of that necessary moisture. It’s still a good option if you’re looking for a heftier main. photo credit: The Henry Seared Ahi Tuna Although the dish is billed under the tuna, the real hero here is the creamy and subtly spiced green curry rice. Topped with shiitake mushroom, snap peas, and heirloom carrots, this dish edges out most of the other mains on the menu. photo credit: The Henry" - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones
