The Henry - Review - 12 South - Nashville - The Infatuation

"We like The Cheesecake Factory as much as the next person, so it’s with no shade that we say this: The Henry is a slightly upscale version of the famed brown bread purveyor. The use cases here are many—brunch in 12 South, a working lunch, or a nice-but-not-too-nice date. And like the good ol’ Factory, there’s something on the menu for pretty much everyone. The American-leaning food isn’t the most complex or creative, but it’s consistently good. There’s a punchy chicken tortilla soup and cranberry and honey-slathered truffled brie toast to start, along with surprisingly decent sushi. The burger is a hefty two-hander topped with white cheddar and american cheese. There’s also seared ahi tuna with creamy green curry rice if you’re looking for something lighter. But the sunlit covered patio upstairs is the best place to fit a sizeable group of people for brunch. Like a horde of bachelorettes who’ve worked up an appetite after marathon shopping at Draper James. Food Rundown Truffled Brie Toast There’s a little bit of everything in terms of taste and texture in here: crunchy, gooey, sweet, salty, with a dash of umami. A fun starter to warm up the palate. photo credit: The Henry Spicy Tuna & Crispy Rice The sticky rice in the dish could be a stand-in for a hashbrown, with its crisp, brown exterior. Even though the rice inside borders on being too dry, the sweet soy sauce drizzled on top, along with the ruby red tuna, swoop in to save the day. All-American Burger This is your traditional, thick-cut burger patty with all the traditional fixings: lettuce, tomato, onion, and cheese. Overcooking can be an issue leaving the beef a bit dry, but mayo-based Henry sauce adds back some of that necessary moisture. It’s still a good option if you’re looking for a heftier main. photo credit: The Henry Seared Ahi Tuna Although the dish is billed under the tuna, the real hero here is the creamy and subtly spiced green curry rice.
