The Best Happy Hour Restaurants and Bar Deals in Los Angeles Right Now | Eater LA

"Taking design cues from the 1970s, Atwater Village’s High Low bar brings a respectable happy hour with a gorgeous fireplace centerpiece, leather banquettes, and plush velvet chairs. Though the $12 nachos, $6 soft pretzel, and $9 margarita are excellent deals, the $11 soft taco plate is available at all hours, as is the pool table. Happy hour runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday." - Rebecca Roland

The Best Restaurants With a Fireplace in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"The High Low bar in Atwater Village takes design cues from the 1970s. The bar’s stunning centerpiece is a fireplace surrounded by leather banquettes and plush velvet chairs. The Tex-Mex menu includes dishes like puffy tacos and nachos, while the cocktail menu is unfussy; local beers are available on tap. It’s a full choose-your-own-adventure experience with a pool table, a room for karaoke and movie nights, and a lounge area for live music." - Eater Staff

On the Grid : The Griffin

"The layout of the place is great, with brick arches, fireplaces and hanging lanterns complementing the medieval décor. Once in awhile you may find yourself surrounded by first tinder dates, but if that’s kinda night grab a drink and get eavesdropping—you’ll have a blast. The smoking patio is a nice value-add for all you smokers out there and they have a decent full tavern menu. The service/bartenders are sometimes hit and miss, but you can always find parking and a table so it’s a great place for happy hour with friends." - Brains on Fire

This was stop number two and what a surprise. They had karaoke going on and it was so much fun to watch. The carajillo was delicious.

Google
It's one of my favorite spots for a drink and tacos! The food is delicious. I have gotten the al pastor shrimp tacos, and my friend gets the short rib tacos. We love them! Love the ambiance, and the service is always great. Look forward to coming back every time. Street parking can be tough, but it's not a bad little walk if you have to park a bit further. Nice neighborhood.

Google
Great bar. Cool space inside. Plenty of seating. A nice patio too. They have a good happy hour Mon-Fri 5-7. They have karaoke on some nights too. The food is good bar food. Service was great. Street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

Sylknet

Google
Epic hidden gem with pool and karaoke. Used to be a horse stable.

Google
We chose this bar because we were on a long road trip south, and we wanted to get off the freeway. What luck we had! The space looks like an old medieval castle hang out and the vibe is much more modern. We had really great margaritas and wings and nachos. That might sound basic, but they are really well done, so let it go lol. The best part about this place is the super great table service. The bartenders are really fast but the servers at the table or sweet and super efficient. Really cool spot.

Google
So happy this place opened in the neighborhood! Cocktails were great, happy hour prices are fantastic ($8 for cocktails and tons of beers for $5-6). Tried a bunch of the puffy tacos and especially loved the mushroom and sweet potato. Can’t wait to come back - welcome to Atwater!

Google
As a local who loved Griffin, I was VERY skeptical about this place at first. I was really thrown off by the female owner when we first met. It’s just a weird vibe when she’s in the bar. Other than that, this place is killer! Amazing drinks, decent food & a great pool table. Every drink I’ve had on the menu has been perfection. The bartenders know their stuff and are super friendly also. The food is AMAZING, but don’t get the puffy tacos unless you want a swimming pool of grease to go with it. Love this place, it just has a few little things that could be better.

Google
Cute bar with a private room, pool table, and plenty of seating. The food? SO good. Burger, fries, curry ketchup, and tacos were all delicious

Yelp
Another "happy, happy, joy, joy," happy hour hang out! Great vibe inside while sipping your cocktail and noshing on a few crispy fries:). Plenty of seats at the bar and lots of tables for larger groups. Bartenders mix a great margarita and are very friendly. Prices are reasonable. They have trivia & karaoke during the week. Check the website for exact day/times. *Plenty of street parking.

Yelp
Why limit happy to an hour, especially when you're with good friends. Thankfully, Happy Hour is daily at The High Low (Mon - Fri 4 - 7 pm, Sat & Sun 1 - 5 pm). It was a rough week and I was mentally and emotionally drained, so I was grateful to meet the beautiful Bender sisters here for cocktails and conversations. I used to come here when it was The Griffin but haven't had a chance to come back since it's been under new ownership. It looked like I remembered - brick lined walls, lofty ceilings, and rustic wood accents. I was glad that the enclosed firepit was still there since it was part of the charm. There's also a pool table, an outside patio with TVs, Karaoke (Tues, Fri & Sunday), and live music on Mondays. We got a table next to the firepit and ordered from the bar. The bartender was friendly & engaging and he made a mean margarita ($9 during HH). We were vibing to the music. The playlist was fantastic, and the company was priceless. Just what I needed. *Metered street parking or residential side streets.

Yelp
Cool aesthetics Bartenders are nice. Came here about a handful of times def check them out and play a game of pool

Yelp
Love popping into this bar when we wait for our dinner reservations across the street. Love the vibe and the wood and dark accents, especially cute during Christmas with more colored lights. It's nice that they have more elevated cocktails available and not just well drinks and beer, we had a manhattan and a specialty cocktail, they were both delicious. We will be back!

Yelp
High Low Bar in Silver Lake is a gem, especially for Tuesday karaoke nights with the host, cousin Vinny. The bartenders nailed my go-to tequila mojito--so refreshing! Their menu has a good selection; I tried the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich special, and it was absolutely fire. Great vibes, amazing drinks, and solid food. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We went here on a Friday night after dinner at around 10pm, and there were a lot of people but we were pleasantly surprised/relieved to discover that it wasn't uncomfortably crowded. There was a fair amount of seating available and ordering drinks at the bar was a fairly quick, painless, and efficient process...It's obvious that this is a well run bar, and the bartenders here don't fuck around dilly dallying. The bartender was a little snarky and a little sassy in a playful way, and I feel like that kind of added to this bar's charm! A+ for the quick drinks and a A++ for the "friendly" service lol

Yelp
We were invited as part of a birthday celebration and had a great time. The only thing that's missing is room to dance, it gets busy and it can get cozy. We arrived to an array of appetizers and all looked delicious. We tried a few and would definitely order them again. We would recommend the Habanero Chicken Fingers and the guacamole and chips. Both were fantastic! It's pretty dark inside, has a pool table, it was a bit loud, and the room temperature was just right. The woman's bathroom was very clean and well stocked. The bartenders and servers were all friendly and helpful, the man running the karaoke was fun and friendly. The karaoke started at 9pm and had open seating in a room across from the bar area. You sign up by QR code and wait to be called. The variety of songs were endless and it definitely added to our already fun night. Parking can be difficult as it's street parking only, and metered until 8pm. We will definitely come back and recommend stopping at the High Low Bar. Cheers!

Yelp
On the corner of the main street and the residential street, there is parking down the residential street but it does get packed fast especially on weekends. I love the bars atmosphere, and I love the movie choice that night. Just the movie choice alone makes me want to come back. Thoroughly enjoyed my evening at the High low Bar. The old-fashioned I had was made very well, the food was delicious we got there just in time. Bathrooms were kept clean. And they have a small outdoor patio. They could probably use one more bartender on a Friday night but other than that everything was great.

Yelp
Had a good time here. Cool bar in Atwater. Inside is really cool. Lots of brick and wood. Has an old school vibe to it. Plenty of seating with tables and a few booths. A few TVs to watch a game. There's a nice side patio with TVs too. They also have a small room for karaoke. It's a good place for groups or a casual date. Came in for happy hour with a friend. They have a good happy hour Mon-Fri 4-7, Sat & Sun 1-5. Select $7 beers, a few $9 cocktails, and appetizer specials. Tried the honey habanero wings and they were pretty good. Service was great. Friendly staff. There's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

Yelp
Came here on my birthday to wait for our reservation for Tam Ol Shanter. I was really glad I decided to make a stop here. The drinks here are so unique, ones I never had before, and I do a little bit of mixing at home. The three drinks I really enjoyed were the cold brew carajillo(which I liked more than an espresso martini), the long goodbye(Smoother than your traditional old fashion), and the disco inferno.
google avatar

Yelp
The vibes were great, the drinks were strong and the bar was high n' low. Me and a group of friends landed here on a night out of celebrating a birthday. We came on karaoke night and a thyme was had. The way they run the karaoke is smooth and efficient, you sign up via QR code and you're good to go when they call your name.

Yelp
The high low is bar small bar with good selection of drinks and draft beers. I had the king pine while I was there. There was a band called The Voxes performing when I went. They had a private room on the side for the band to perform that wouldn't disturb the rest of the bar. The bar has a good atmosphere there isn't to much lighting but it makes up in that with candles
google avatar

Yelp
This bar is legit a great place. The ambiance is super chill. They also serve food but we haven't tried it. The service at the bar is good. We didn't come in on a full house night but I gotta say they do make really good margaritas. Good music playing. Beautiful place to get your drink on and shoot pool. Definitely glad they introduced this place to me. I recommend it for anyone in the area es wondering about The high Low. I approve! Cheers!

Yelp
Came here to celebrate my friends birthday on a Saturday night and my was it poppin. Parking can be a lil tricky here but you can try your luck by parking around the neighborhood or risk it parking at Mimi's Cafe. Lil unassuming from the outside but it has a BAR sign upon the entrance and when you walk in, has a great open space with fireplace in the middle, pool table to your left and a karaoke room in the back! Love the mood here, plays good music. As far as drinks and food, we got a few apps to share, their guac and chips, elote, chicken strips tendies were all very good! Cocktail drinks were also on point. Loved my east side and my husband was a fan of the long goodbye. Overall this place checks all the marks. Music food drinks and great mood/ambiance. Would highly recommend

Yelp
High Low Bar is a gem of a bar in an area that I had previously not hung out in. The service is impeccable and the drinks and food are out of this world. Pool tables, a fire place and a patio , what more could you ask for? If you're looking for a low-key spot with a high-class menu, look no further.

Yelp
Great spot, old fashions were on point! got to watch the game & catch up with friends!

Yelp
When I walked into the place, I just knew I was in for an amazing time! Last Friday, I decided to skip my husband's gig to hang out with my diverse group of girlfriends. We all decided to try out this cozy little resto bar, and boy, were we happy we did! Located in the most inviting area of Los Angeles, we were lucky enough to catch their happy hour special - $9 margaritas that were so refreshing! We paired them with some delicious carnitas nachos and chicken wings. Their tacos were absolutely incredible, and we pretty much ordered everything on the menu! My personal favorites were the Shrimp Al pastor (I'm a sucker for anything with pineapple) and the spicy borracho chicken. I'm still waiting for my friend Zen to send over the photos, but I just couldn't wait to write this review! The food and drinks were top-notch, the prices were reasonable, and the service was exceptional. I even gave our waitress an extra tip because she was so quick and attentive (which may have been why I had one too many margaritas!). Overall, this place gets a perfect score from me - AAA all the way! The ambiance was fantastic, there was ample parking, great music, and awesome people. I'll definitely be coming back, and this time I'll bring my husband along (who I left hanging that Friday night). Can't wait for our next visit!

Yelp
For bar food, wow!! Solid if ur looking for tasty, almost home cooked feel, and seasoning is on point! Surprisingly chickpeas were my fave Drinks were strong enough. Hell yeah

Yelp
This is the spot where I end a night out. Always a good time! Don't get out much these days so it's important that when I do, I go somewhere I know I'm gonna have a good time.

Yelp
Pros: Bar food is not the absolute best I've had, but pretty good options and it's 100% worth trying puffy tacos. Those are my favorite! I also love their Mac & cheese. The venue seems pretty spacious which means it's nice for groups. There are plenty of tables inside and you can even hangout outside in their patio, which sets the mood for a more intimate ambiance. Cons: The reason why I took away a star is because the vibe/mood each time I've been here is unpredictable or confusing?? I was here last week on a weekday, and there was a DJ that played country music the entire night, but NO one was dancing or singing along. Apparently it was her birthday so she wanted to play her music. Picture this: a Midevil themed bar, with obnoxious country music, and a various groups of hipsters and non-hipsters. It's pretty strange I'll tell you that.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
It's not a dive bar but it has a dive bar vibe which is fun. We live in the neighborhood and usually walk here for Happy Hour margaritas-- it's not the best deal in the world but the drinks are good & so are the carnitas nachos (it's a huge platter, can feed 2-4 easy). it's also quite spacious so there's always somewhere to sit. We usually go to the enclosed outdoor seating which has televisions & music, and a great view of the shopping center across the street.

Yelp
The burrito I had was decent I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars. My drink was delicious. The customer service from my waiter (the Caucasian male) was great he was attentive and polite. The karaoke host Vince Vicari was super kind and rooted me on. The door man checking ID's (the Latino man with the black cap) gave me a dirty look walking in and dirty looks walking out. He clearly doesn't know how to share space with trans woman. I really hope management gives him the proper training on how to treat every human being with an inclusive and accepting attitude. Disappointed.
google avatar

Glydia C.

Yelp
Cute quaint little bar across from Tam O Shanter. Kind of the same vibe a bit, but more rustic. They had a pool table, which I played on and lost. They have an extensive drink menu. I had two cocktails, well made. There is an inside area, and an outside area that is enclosed. Bartenders were good. I had some food, pretty typical bar food. Overall a great experience, I would recommend if you're in the area.
google avatar

Moni L.

Yelp
Definitely would revisit. Came here with some friends to catch up. I like to environment. It's not. Party/hype it up kinda night. More like a go with the flow.
google avatar

Yelp
Horrible service. Extremely rude bartender he was an African American who was disgustingly rude to our big party for HIS convience. He complained to us about making his job hard and that we should order with friends even though they were NOT our friends and use one ten which is rude and NOT his place to decide for customers. He was rude to everyone in fact not just us, management should do something since bartending should be a fun and engaging job not a chore and having attitude.
google avatar

Nathan L.

Yelp
Honestly the ambiance was great and the food was good for bar food. The issue is the service, the first order went fine, but at one point it was about 30 minutes trying to get the bartenders attention with no luck. It was a pretty slow weekday and not even remotely full. At some point it didn't make sense to stay which is a shame since it seems like a nice place and the drinks are decent.
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
The High Low bar captures a medieval vibe with brick arches and dark lighting. $12 cocktails are done well. They play loud aggressive rock music attracting a crowd that would suggest that the bouncer call the cops because they failed to bring a vaccine card. Sorry Gus. No Vax Card, no service. I noticed that people came and went. Come to meet a friend and leave quickly because you have perishables from your Costco run sitting in the trunk. There were groups of girls hoping someone would buy them a drink, groups of bros play billiards and an outdoor space that's better for chatting. If I had to compare this to other bars, I would say The High Low Bar is Bigfoot East's older brother who makes more money, while sharing the same playlist of obscure unrecognizable bands. The older brother with more responsibilities like owning a costco membership instead of just sharing it. And all conversations start with, "OMG! I miss Soup Plantation!"
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
This is such a fun place with a cool vibe. The inside is really pretty and the drinks are yummy.

Yelp
Marcos!!!!! Thank you so much for making our night!!!!! We came out here from Irvine and the drive was insane, but we were celebrating a friend's birthday. Marcos was at the bar and helped us with the menu. He explained what was his fave items and recommended the blue cheese burger and the tacos. We definitely ordered everything he suggested, and everything was SO good. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful. The ambiance is so cute in here: it's very dark and apparently, "New Girl" was filmed here??? I love some pop culture with my Virgin drinks. Yummmmm. Such a wonderful start to a Saturday night Highly recommended this place!

Jazmine B.

Yelp
Made people wait in a long line to tell us last second there needs to be a guest-list. When we clearly asked beforehand. The hostess did not even have the simple decency to look me in the face to say it and was too busy on her phone. Talk about the a terrible first experience in Los Feliz will not be coming back and high recommend others to not come as well.
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
I had a fantastic time at this bar! It felt safe, the music was on point, and the drinks were delicious. I didn't try the food, but the overall prices seemed reasonable. The vibe was great, and I would definitely come back for another visit. They had a semi-out door seating with roof and heater - loved it!
google avatar

Kris A.

Yelp
Cool & chill place for HH!! Lots of seating available, the bartenders are super nice! They have HH 5-7pm (M-F) They offer both food and drinks for Happy Hour. Nice fire pit indoor adds to a chill ambiance. Parking can be tough because that's how Los Feliz is... the neighborhood streets nearby have free parking.
google avatar

Mansi R.

Yelp
Beautiful space with yummy cocktails. They have a happy hour as well. We tried a few drinks, and the old fashioned and the disco inferno were our favs.
google avatar

Sonia V.

Yelp
This place is so cute! There's always usually some space for you to conquer with your friends so y'all can huddle around and drink and spill tea. This dimly lit little joint has great music and great service. Their food is pretty good too! I got the chips and guac and there are definitely way more chips than needed but kind of a good thing since your beer or whatever makes you want a little salty something. I noticed one bartender (Vic) in particular that had a hustle on and made great drinks! I mean, the bar was pretty busy and he was handling two different lines by himself and never missing a beat! He remembered people and drinks and was warm, friendly and I just gotta say... GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE! He really was busting his a** behind that bar. He's one of those bartenders that creates a great experience that makes you want to come back. Parking can be a little difficult but it's not so bad. There's street parking!
google avatar

Artur S.

Yelp
Really nice place. Low lighting, pool table, good food and drinks. But you gotta order at the bar.
google avatar

Sam R.

Yelp
I've been to the High Low bar twice now, and both times resulted in wildly different experiences. I'm rounding up from an average 3.5 Our first visit was on a Wednesday night after a drawing class down the street. It was the perfect stop! We got some Disco Infernos which were excellent and hung out in the terraced outside seating. The bar was pretty laid back with indie/alternative music playing. There were tvs at the bar for those who want to catch a game, and the staff was quick and friendly. Plus the giant chandelier and brick beams in the interior are stunning. We figured this would be our new bar to meet up with friends and chat it up. Now for the second visit... we stopped by on a Saturday night for a final cocktail before heading home, and our experience could not have been more different. There was a dance floor set up in the back blasting pop hits and reggaeton. We could barely hear each other, even outside of the dance room. There were bros everywhere playing pool and arguing over who was next. All of the glamor fell away. Drinks were still good, but service was slow. I'd definitely come back here on a weekday, but that was my last time dropping in on a weekend!
google avatar

Sian B.

Yelp
Food was perfect, ambiance was very welcoming and comfy. I've tried multiple food items on the menu and have enjoyed them all!
google avatar

Lizzy E.

Yelp
I really enjoy the ambiance of this bar. Came for happy hour and it was not super busy. Great place to grab a drink - they also have food!
google avatar

Anne S.

Yelp
My friends and I came here last night celebrating a birthday. There's a main room and a smaller side room where a live band was playing last night. We reserved a couple tables, but we rarely sat because the vibe there was more of a casual party vibe. The interior felt like a wine cellar, very cozy and welcoming. Our server was SUPER nice and patient in a room full of tipsy people. They have simple bar food, but VERY good and very fresh ingredients. It's kinda dark in there, so I couldn't see which tacos I was eating, but it went in my mouth and tasted mmmm..mmm...GOOD! (the puffy tacos. so deeeeelish!) Had a bit of a bite to it (maybe jalapeños) but still tasty and I'm VERY sensitive to spices. Same with the chicken strips, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the dipping sauce is really good. As the evening progresses, after a few drinks, you get the feel like everyone there are good people having a good time. This place has a great vibe. I can't wait to go back with my friends.
google avatar

Valerie P.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to check out the High Low last night, which is the new bar that has taken over what was once the Griffin. Overall a fun time was had! The cocktails were all good and reasonably priced at $12 each and the food was excellent. My friend raved about the tacos he ordered, and the nacho tray contained quite possibly the best bar nachos I've ever had, delicious sturdy chips that didn't collapse under the weight of the plentiful toppings piled on top of them. Yum! The bar seemed a little backed up and sometimes ordering could take a while, but the staff was always super friendly. I'm a big fan of the fact that they had a water station for easily accessible hydration. Everyone in the bar loved the 80s/90s playlist that they were rocking, even singing along at times, although the music did get annoyingly louder as the evening went on. What can I say, my friends and I are old and want to be able to hear each other! The bar has a pool table, a mixture of high top and low top tables, and a semi-outdoor space off to the side. It's a fun venue worth a visit if you're looking for a somewhat chill spot to hang out with friends.
google avatar

Felipe M.

Yelp
I highly suggest this bar. Great staff and it has a very nice low lit setting with amazing setup throughout. I did not get the opportunity to try the food. Cocktails in my opinion from the ones I tried are well balanced. The bar has pool tables and a designated area for dancing which I found it to be smart in my opinion. Overall I loved the atmosphere here.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
Excellent spot for happy hour!! The High Low Bar, which used to be the Griffin, is definitely a fun vibe! The warm, cozy aesthetic makes more a fun date night spot or for a group of friends gathering. You order drinks and food at the bar from one of the nice bartenders (both were really friendly when I went). The happy hour which is Monday-Friday 5-7pm had really great prices on some classic cocktails and some food. For example, the fries were $2 on happy hour and the margarita was $8 - it's not easy to find these prices at other places. The drinks were great, and the food was alright. I tried the bean and cheese taco, fries, and chips which were all just fun to snack on. The place got really crowded on a Friday night so I'd recommend getting there around 5:30pm to have a good spot of your choice! I can't wait to come back soon! Oh also the friend I went with had such a great time that she took another friend the next night!!! Fun spot!

Yelp
Would come back again. I love this place. Its very cute and chill vibes. The drinks was fine but the service was good.

Yelp
I ventured into this bar after having dinner with friends nearby. The people outside dressed in costumes caught my attention so my friends and I decided to join in on the fun. They had live music, plenty of drink options, food and a pool table. The pool table was a little warped and sometimes not all the balls came out but hey you complain when it's a dollar a game. Overall this was a great place to hang out, have a drink, and enjoy live music.

Michael B.

Yelp
Rude, jaded bartenders that deliberately make you wait on dead nights. "They can wait," a bartender literally said to a customer/friend....as he was having a conversation on the right side of the bar. He didn't know I heard him say "they can wait," as he was referring to me and a couple to my left. We were all perplexed about why we were being ignored. This was a very slow Labor Day Monday evening. I've been coming here for about a year because my sister lives down the street I was always turned off by the service here and it progressively has gotten much worse. I am a late 40s former bartender of 9 years and I cut industry people slack, but this place is operated by unbelievably rude, hollywood-cliche' douchebags that should not be behind a bar or dealing with people. Especially customers trying to give your establishment business. If you are pissed about working Labor Day, try not to take it out on customers. The energy in that place is draining and you can feel it! On a good note- Karaoke KJ is great and he makes his nights fun. However, I officially loathe this place now and hence, me and my camp will go elsewhere...like the Roost or Morrison. 2 Stars to be fair to KJ and doorstaff who are nice.

Stopped by this place as it's right next to the Tam O'Shanter. This bar has an outdoor space, a separate dance floor and a pool table. Very chill vibes in the main bar area. A lot of different drink options as well.

Yelp
Very chill and vibey bar, cool place to hang out. Have great food too, which comes out really fast. Drinks are somewhat overpriced compared to what you can get nearby. Michelada - amazing. Mesquite brisket tacos - insanely good.

Yelp
OMG!!!! Came in for karaoke last Tuesday!! It was the best! The bartenders were so attentive and slinging drinks all night. Every time I went to the bar it was less than 2 min to get a drink. As for karaoke, I've never had so much fun singing. My girlfriend and I signed up and it was magical. No long wait times. There were regulars there cheering us on and it felt so wholesome!!! There was no discrepancy in the wait times and everyone in the room had a chance to sing. Highly would recommend coming to karaoke at this place!!! My girlfriend and I will be here tonight 10/10

Yelp
For a little hole in the wall this place has one of the best vegetarian burgers I've even eaten in my life. As a devout carnivore that's saying a lot. Please try their tacos, sweet potato, beans & cheese, or the short rib (did I mention I'm a carnivore). My wife is a vegetarian & her & her vegetarian friends love the food here. The bartenders are friendly and fun. Our 4 legged fur baby absolutely loves sitting in the Patio. Tell them Chris, Theresa & little Maddie sent you.
