This restaurant is an absolute gem in San Diego, offering not only delicious food but also breathtaking rooftop views. Watching the sunset from here is a must—there’s something magical about enjoying a great meal while taking in the stunning colors of the sky and the cityscape. The atmosphere is vibrant and stylish, making it a perfect spot for a date night, a fun evening with friends, or even a special celebration. The food is just as impressive as the view. The menu features trendy, beautifully plated dishes that are both flavorful and satisfying. We had the taco buns, crispy rice poke bites, and wings—all of which were incredible. The taco buns were soft and packed with bold flavors, the crispy rice poke bites had the perfect crunch with fresh, well-seasoned fish, and the wings were crispy, juicy, and perfectly spiced. Every bite was a delight! To top it off, the cocktails were just as amazing. Each drink was carefully crafted, balanced, and refreshing, complementing the meal perfectly. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic cocktail or something more creative, there’s something for everyone. The combination of delicious food, fantastic drinks, and unbeatable views makes this place a must-visit when in San Diego. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with a stunning backdrop, this is definitely the place to be.

The customer service was great! Rosa helped us get set up & checked on us several times to make sure everything was going great with our service/food. Recommend making a reservation to get the perfect table with a view of the ocean. They have music on the floor level. Didn't make it to the bottom level this time but I will definitely go back.

Overall, cool rooftop. Honey walnut shrimp was excellent. Drinks were unique and solid. Service could have been a bit quicker but our waitress was super nice. Sunset views were unbeatable.

Love this venue! Amazing shows - fantastic food - and phenomenal staff. I’ve seen many amazing shows here and had many delicious meals and memories with friends. The new menu is definitely🔥🔥🔥🔥

Google
This place is both a music venue and restaurant. Three floors to enjoy, all with prompt service and an enjoyable atmosphere. The staff is friendly and welcoming, as well as Ocean Beach locals. So they are up to date with events, weather and locations of pretty much anything you ask. The food is cooked fresh from order, delicious and unique to Ocean Beach. Bathrooms on two of the three floors, plenty of space to mingle, eat or rock out. The live music performed is posted online, to give an opportunity to purchase pre-sale tickets. As well as on their marques that is displayed facing the main road, Newport Ave. They support and book all types of genres on the first floor, so audiences are diverse. The second floor usually has a DJ (at least on weekends and every time I've been there).

I grew up in SD but haven’t lived here since I left for university forever ago. But, every chance I get to make it out to OB this restaurant is a must! I take everyone here because it’s truly fantastic—quintessential Ocean Beach. The space has three floors, each being a little different from the next. The ground floor is where you’ll be greeted by a doorman who will check your ID. The second is where the host will seat you—it features a large bar with TVs, dining area, and space for music/DJ and dancing. The third floor is the rooftop with sweeping views of the ocean and surrounding neighborhood. During brunch they always have live music up on the rooftop. The view itself is worth the visit! They even allow pups to enjoy the restaurant with you. When it comes to food, you cannot get it wrong here. The menu is Asian-inspired with dishes like Korean Fried Chicken, Pho Dip, Shaken Beef, Kim Chi Fried Rice, Loco Moco, and Birria Ramen. Seriously, everything is so good! I’ve tried almost everything (even the breakfast sandwich from the kid’s menu l, which is like an elevated sausage McMuffin). They are a part of OB Noodle House so of course the food is fantastic! But my favorite is the Ube Pancakes <3 I really hope it’s still in the menu and please do yourself a favor and order it if it’s still available. Not only is the food great, they have amazing brunch specials for mimosas and cocktails. 10/10 recommend, no other notes.

Google
Best cocktails I've ever had in my life, "Five O'clock Somewhere" and "Vigilante Shit." Very friendly service. They offered us to the roof, and since the weather is cold I was doubting it but they have heaters and they fell amazing!! Highly recommend you guys come and hang out here!! Great drinks and the most delicious wings ever!! Thanks Holding Company for making this Sunday experience in ocean beach a 10 out of 10 for us.

Yelp
Did you know this is owned by the same people as OB Noodle House? This made me excited because I knew the food would be bomb. And it was! The calamari had a delicious spicy garlic topping and the dumplings were light but flavorful. The rooftop has beautiful views and the OB vibes can be felt throughout the restaurant. Will be coming back to try more food!

Yelp
Went here for a cover band concert on a Friday night. So much fun and the cost was great. Didn't eat but did have a couple of cocktails. I wanted something made with Screwball whiskey and the bartender asked a couple of questions and shook something up that was delicious and fruity. Loved it! The rooftop deck is super cool with fire pit tables and a good amount of seating. The middle floor bar was packed as people were there to help watch a fight but it cleared out after and they shut down the rooftop earlier than the rest of the place. The bathroom is...odd. Toilets are angled and there is insect wallpaper. Will be back to eat for sure!

Yelp
I came out to the Holding Company for the Marley Festival featuring Johnny Clarke, Fully Fulwood Band, GONZO, Dukes of Roots, Kat Hall, Ginger Roots, Jah Faith & Survival Band Tribute to Bob Marley hosted by DJ Gregory G. The Holding Company is a totally cool 3-story restaurant, bar and live music venue located in the heart of OB just walking steps away from the beach. The bar staff and organizers were very friendly and welcoming. I had a great time listening and dancing to the live reggae music. The vibe was IRIE!! It was my first time there but will be back for future events since they're always "holding" something. Plus, I wanna try their signature Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey. This fun place made a lasting impression on me. It's definitely 5 stars for sure!

Yelp
Friends picked this spot. Parking is a hassle due to location and the weekend. Friends were on 3rd floor. The view is awesome for sure... this was beginning of February ago still a little chilly. I enjoyed the atmosphere and view. The 4 of us ordered food and we got it quickly. The sauce on wings smelled great. I ordered orange chicken. It wasn't too orangey or soggy. It had a great taste and crunchy. The popcorn chicken was great too.

Yelp
If being honest we had higher expectations for this place from the reviews we had read prior to our brunch here. The building is pretty funky- big space with a funky exterior- open and airy restaurant/bar over 3 floors with a great view of the beach from the top patio. We were here for brunch on a sunday- got the sizzling steak and eggs and the benedict- and of course a bottle of bubbles for mimosas. Pretty good food but not as much flavor as we had hoped, the eggs were not great in either, a little watery. Maybe just hit it on a bad day. It was a really nice area to eat breakfast while overlooking the beach strip so we still had a very enjoyable brunch. Service was great and quick to order.

Yelp
I love a good noodle dish but I don't like a lot of extra ingredients. I just want basic noodles and protein and I was very happy with The Holding Company's stir-fry noodles without the shrimp, cabbage, carrots, celery and onion. Just noodles, beef, chicken and sesame seeds and this dish was just what I wanted. It was a decent sized portion with plenty of food for two meals too. There's a lot of delicious sounding Asian dishes on the menu and I can see myself coming back here. Plus, the rooftop was a cool spot, even at night. I imagine it's even better in the day.

Yelp
Everyone raves about the peanut butter whiskey wings. They are 100% correct. Do not sleep on these wangs. They are bomb! Plus the staff is very nice. Parking can be difficult, but worth it

Yelp
After driving an hour and a half into San Diego from Orange County, all me and my boyfriend wanted was good food and a drink. We looked on yelp, and we found the holding company, and we decided to give it a shot. Upon arrival we noticed it was happy hour, which runs until 6pm. Considering the four dollar drinks and the amazing service, we already knew this place was going to be a hit. We ordered the OB noodle house fried rice, and the peanut butter screwball wings. The wings were nothing short of crispy, delicious, peanut butter, buttery, and savory. They had the perfect amount of crisp on them, without it being too greasy. The rice had great smoky flavor from the wok, but unfortunately, it was a little bit overcooked, as there were many rice clumps within it. The wings however, were a hit, as we speak about them to this day. We wish we had ordered more so we could have tried more flavors. The peanut butter screw ball wing is a great flavor that everyone should try. Whether or not you come here for happy hour, or regular hours, everybody should try the wings. The ambiance was great, the second floor being a place to hangout and see views of the beach, while the first floor being an event space for music events! We will mark this spot as one to come back to.

Yelp
After checking into the OB Hotel for our weekend in OB, we headed straight to THC for a beverage. We made our way to the spectacular roof top bar with the awesome views. Levi was our server and he was prompt to take our order. THC has an extensive beer menu but is severely lacking in the hard seltzer department. Only Mango White Claw which Becky can't stand, so she opted for a pint of Pacifico. It was just one and done for us as we were meeting some friends for lunch elsewhere. Despite the lack of seltzers, we always have at least one at THC when we're in OB. Bex doesn't mind a Pacifico now and then.
google avatar

Brad B.

Yelp
Come for the view, stay for the wings. I've always loved THC but I was recently reminded how lucky we are to have places like this in our fine city, especially in December when we can still sit comfortably on a rooftop patio. There's no shortage of Skrewball being served her, and IYKYK why, and I'm always good for at least two of them. The live music is eclectic and fun, and this is certainly one of the best spots in OB, which has recently started to grow on me a bit more.
google avatar

Spring J.

Yelp
We sat on the upstairs patio and had a really nice view. We ordered the OB wings which were delicious, very crispy and garlicky. We enjoyed them. There a must when eating here. We also had the fried rice and it was also delicious. Jason was our server and was great. Overall we had great food, drinks and service.

Yelp
OMFG! Don't wait! The Holding Company is SO GOOD! I figured regular bar food but the menu is creative and delicious! This was my first time in and when the host learned this they said " you have to go to the roof then! We're going to get you a view!" And they DID!! Awesome rooftop vibe! My server Levi was also awesome AF! He made the perfect recommendations for me, was friendly and gave top notch service! I highly recommend this place for a casual bite or fun night!

Yelp
Did not eat here today but the service and views are outstanding. Couldn't recommend this spot more. Wasn't planning on having more than a couple of beers and moving on but the servers and the rooftop view kept me here for three hours. Cheers Holding Company Crew

Yelp
Venue was tiny. No seating on 1st floor at all except for tiny patio. 2nd floor was chill. Had a great server, forgot his name, young kid with black hair.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to see Doyle. Great venue and service. I had the oven roasted chicken sandwich, and it was fulfilling. Awesome ambience eating and drinking at the rooftop followed by more drinking and rocking out on the 1st floor. Looking forward to coming back for more shows and food.
google avatar

Julie O.

Yelp
Great place! So much going on all at once! Not local to Ocean Beach but Holding Company is a great place to spend time when we are in the area. The roof has a great ocean view. Super chill. The first floor is for live music, dj and events. Cover is usually pretty low. Drinks are regular priced for the type of venue.

Yelp
I mean...it's a restaurant that has a rooftop near the beach, the food is good and they have some unique options, and the service is friendly. What more could you ask for? I ordered the pho dip and even though it was far from authentic Vietnamese food, it was super tasty! This was a unique item that I've never seen offered anywhere else, and I would order it again in a heartbeat. However, I'd probably try other things from their menu beforehand. The view of the beach is nice, but it's not so close to the water that everything else about the restaurant is overhyped (if you know what I mean). The service was friendly and the prices are reasonable. They also have indoor seating but if the weather's nice I'm sure you'd rather sit on the rooftop.

Yelp
Cassie was awesome. Great bartender !! Good happy hour !! Nice ambiance !! Plenty of room and something for everyone !!! Cant beat good food booze and a cool bartender !!

Yelp
It pains me to write this review because I've been to The Holding Company a few times before and had really great experiences. However, we stopped in last night and left very disappointed in our meals. We were seated on the rooftop and enjoyed a nice view of the water. Our waitress came over to us quickly for our drink orders. Our beer was dropped off to us, but we had to request water a few times before it was brought to us in plastic cups that were flaking off at the top. The food was extremely disappointing unfortunately. The oven roasted chicken sandwich was actual deli meat in a sandwich, and it came with fries that were incredibly bland and cold. It was incredibly unappealing and did not taste good. The OB fried rice had good flavor but was incredibly salty. When our food was dropped off, the waitress came by multiple times to ask how it was, but when we were ready to pay and leave we could not find her. We ended up having to go to the bar downstairs to find her and close out. Overall was very surprised at how bad our experience was here and I will not be returning.
google avatar

Krista U.

Yelp
How can you say no to 30% off the menu for happy hour!! There are also drink deals available as well. I enjoy coming to the holding company over OB noodle house because of view you get at the top and patio area. Both places have delicious OB noodle house wings and fried rice but why not enjoy it overlooking the ocean as well? Only downside parking can be rough depending on the time of day. Definitely will be back again!

Yelp
Food: The food was fine, not great, but the prices are reasonable enough to match the quality of the food so can't complain too much. We had the OB Stir fry noodles and the HoCo Loco (essentially a burger patty on rice). The stir fry noodles tasted very similar to Panda Express chow mein, which is tasty in its own way but not something I would expect at a restaurant. We didn't get any drinks but saw some come out to tables around us and they looked nice. Service: Service was friendly but slow. The stir fry noodles were listed in a section of the menu that says each dish comes with rice and a side salad but after I got my meal I was informed by our server that they don't serve the stir fry noodles with those sides. Confusing, but she provided a side salad for free to make it right so that was appreciated. Ambiance: Three stories - live music and bar on the ground floor, DJ and dining tables/balcony on the second floor, dining tables on the rooftop (with heaters). Roof has great views. Overall the vibe was fun and cool but in a grunge college bar kind of way. Overall: would recommend going here for music and drinks, not worth coming just for the food
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
The overall vibe is laid back. Good live music and great location. The food was delicious! My husband ordered the Korean wings and I ordered the gojuchang tofu. Both plates were outstanding highly recommend.

Yelp
Seliing alcohol and then denying entry after charging based on intoxication from the alcohol sold by the venue.
google avatar

Amber E.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite OB spots for casual food, drinks and live music, with an amazing ocean view on the rooftop deck. Food wise, like the salads, sandwiches, of course the ON Noodle House wings, and other apps. The cocktails change, but are always hand-crafted, unique and tasty. Love the El Chapko, Go Loko, Vigilante. Today, had the I Dance w/ mezcal muddled in blood oranges and lemon. Citrusy, smoky and really nice. Often live music downstairs, too. Great Happy Hour Tue-Fri. 4-6 pm, 30% off entire food menu, $4 wells, $3 Skrewball shots,
google avatar

Yelp
This place has a great happy hour. The view upstairs is fantastic. The cream cheese wontons are really good. I also enjoy their tofu fries and walnut shrimp. Sam & Mel are wonderful bartenders. I'll be back next week...

Yelp
Wow, I did not discover The Holding Company until the last night of my Ocean Beach vacation. What a loss! This place has absolutely the best happy hour food and drink (4-6 T-F), and later also offers live music! On the second floor patio with a view of the ocean, I ordered a $4 well drink and let the bartender decide what fruity rum cocktail I should receive. It was stunning with a little pineapple, coconut foam and rum. I had two! Ordered a fried rice with shrimp and beef (hold the pork sausage) and the OB Noodle House wings (these appear to be the only ones not breaded). Both were generous and filling and considering 30% off the entire menu at happy hour also a good value. The wings were ENORMOUS and crispy, with a vibrant red color with carmelized garlic, thai chili and cilantro. Garnished only with a cabbage bed and a side of ranch they were some of the best wings I have every eaten. The fried rice was filling but lacked a little flavor which was my fault for having them hold the pork sausage. Later that evening, I came back for Tuesday night live Reggae. The crowd was very thin downstairs for the first set, so I went upstairs for Karaoke. It was quite horrible with off key heavy metal screaming to Five Finger. I found a spot to insert myself at the bar, and another creative bartender to invented me another tropical rum cocktail (this one was blue). Later I tried an excellent Paloma during the bands third set downstairs and stayed until the lights came up! This place really knows their food and drink. It will be a keeper in my Yelp bookmarks for any future trips to San Diego! Thanks again for a really fun evening!

Yelp
Over Labor Day weekend, my friends and I headed out to The Holding Company to see the Red Elvises, one of my favorite bands. It was a little bizarre as it was scheduled for 2 PM on a Sunday, but hey... a little party day by the beach on a holiday weekend... why not?! This was only my second time ever at THC. The first time was several years ago when they first opened and I was introduced to their peanut butter whiskey, and a fun cover band. When we arrived, I learned that they had been planning for a couple of opening bands that had canceled, so we went upstairs for some cocktails. There they have a full Asian Fusion menu and some great cocktails. I really liked the El Chapo, which was adorned with a cute cowboy hat. With our group of friends, I got to taste several cocktails. The servers were friendly and laid back, and we noticed the band sitting at the bar as well before the show. It is not too big, so I imagine it gets filled up pretty fast. That day, the outside rooftop was already full, so we were inside. Anyway, we then went downstairs for the show. It basically is a big, long room with a bar along the back side and a stage on the other end. As it was a matinee with a band that required tickets in advance, or a steep cover, so it was not crowded at all, as I don't think people many people know they were playing. The downstairs only has basic cocktails. As it was not crowded, we had plenty of space to dance and to move around. The basic cocktails were decent and pretty reasonable priced. It never took more than one or two minutes to get a drink. I generally drank Palomas throughout the show. I think that they could have done a better job advertising that opening bands, even though they did cancel, so we would have had a better idea when the show was starting. I didn't mind waiting upstairs, but we did rush over there for no reason, as the show started a couple hours later than advertised.

Yelp
We came on a weekday afternoon and was able to get a table on the roof. The views are amazing, I can only imagine a nice sunset from up here. I'm glad they have jackfruit here, I had the jackfruit on nachos and it was tasty. It was nice to have some food, drinks, and fun in the sun!

Yelp
Excellent happy hour specials. 30% off all food on the menu between 4 and 6 PM Wednesdays through Fridays. Great time to avoid the crowds too.

Yelp
I go to a lot of concerts & I was overall quite impressed by this venue. Looked like parking may be hit or miss here, but it was easy to Uber. Location is cool - a block from beach. Checked out the restaurant, service was super nice and I highly recommend the orange chicken. It's so rare for a concert venue to have food that's actually really good and worth going here for on its own. If I lived in this area, I know I'd return! In terms of the concert space - the stage and green room are quite small. There's not really an area for the band to hangout comfortably unless it's a much smaller act. And there's not really any space for back of house or front of house support for the band during the show. Somehow, the building does a good job of not having the noise from each floor interfere with the other - it got loud. Green room did not seem to have AC, but AC wasn't an issue anywhere else in venue. Honestly felt like there could've been more security near stage at end of show, but otherwise security seemed good. Easy to walk around this area. I will say as it got later on a Friday night, there were some characters walking around and a few cop cars.

Yelp
I met my gf and her sister here to catch the sunset and then check out the Farmer's Market. The rooftop is amazing and the sunset was beautiful. I grabbed a beer and some fries, so I didn't get a chance to try much else. The beach vibe is growing on me and I will be making my way back this way and this spot will always be a must hit.

Yelp
The Korean chicken wings were insanely tasty and lili had amazing service! She was super attentive and helpful. Thanks lili!

Yelp
Great ambience to hangout with friends. The drinks are okay, and the food is good. I recommend the coconut shrimp. The music and Dj are awesome, it's a great place to dance to some good hip hop.

Yelp
The service was lousy the food was expensive and food was awful would not recommend this to any one.
google avatar

Yelp
Great atmosphere in the building. The Holding Company is a great place to sit and have a drink and watch whatever sports are playing on the multiple TVs in the building. The drinks and food are always great, and there's occasionally happy hour deals.

Yelp
I'm in love with the asian infused dishes here. The flavors are on point and the staff is so friendly and accommodating! Opted out for a cocktail without judgement. The delicious food met with a perfect rooftop breeze and a stunning beautiful sunset phew this place is unbeatable. I was in a dream.
google avatar

Chaudhry A.

Yelp
This was a whole different level when I was here since I was on level 3 or third floor. And that's such a cool view of ocean beach pier and shops and the street like if I was a drone, filming everything. Service is great since there weren't many and going up and down to bring food isn't easy. There is a bar, however on every level. You find parking, the place is yours for the rest of the day.
google avatar

Kim T.

Yelp
I have been here several times with big and small groups for light food fare and drinks. We also love to take friends and family who are visiting SD with us to enjoy the rooftop seating area. Our service has been consistently good - even on a weekend I usually don't have to wait long for food or drinks. The food has a slight Asian influence which for me is awesome. Definitely a must try and I'm sure I'll be back in the near future.

C J.

Yelp
The Good: pretty decent tap list, I do appreciate usually having at least one kombucha or selzter not in a can. The rooftop view is amazing. The few times I've ordered food it was at least decent. The Bad: most of the menu is very carb heavy, so keto options are basically limited to some of the salads and wings. Also servers always want to seat me at a crappy table even when its slow and the prime spots by the street are empty and not reserved. Usually they're fine when I ask to move, but its still awkward and feels like they're saving spaces for someone more important who may or may not show up later. My biggest annoyance is after your food comes, servers tend to ignore you. I've had multiple times when it wasn't even busy and it still took half an hour after food/drink were done to pay and leave because it takes 15 minutes before a server comes by to ask for your bill, then another 10 minutes until they actually bring your bill, another 10 until they come back with your card etc.

Yelp
We were here for a 90s 2000s music event. I've been here to eat before but the dining was upstairs. The event was downstairs and the DJ was fire !! We danced soo much ! To drink my friends and I had a Paloma or lemon drop martinis. Service was friendly. The coconut shrimp was delicious!! Fun night!

Yelp
The rooftop view is to die for! The food was good the vibe was on point. They had an incredible playlist going on. Will be back!

Yelp
Was attending a concert later that night and went upstairs for dinner. A hostess greeted me kindly. Had a balcony seat with an ocean view and cool breeze. Service was great (Jason), food was awesome (katsu chicken) and the music was so much fun. Cheers to your venue, put together incredibly.
google avatar

Josh B.

Yelp
I had never been here before, but my wife and I grabbed dinner before going to see Annabella Lwin, the singer of Bow Wow Wow, put on an amazing show. The venue had a great, steampunk-type vibe. The acoustics were great. A few of my friends showed up late (during my favorite song, Rikki Dee), and while talking to them at the very back of the venue, you could still hear the band perfectly. My wife got a Cali Creme Nightro beer she loved. I got a whiskey sour, after a decent dinner upstairs -- and it couldn't have been a better night. If you get a chance to see a band here, you should take it (I'll be back, if Annabella is -- or any other band I'm a fan of). And if you get there early, you're walking distance from the ocean. Watch the sunset to start your evening off right.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in OB! Service is usually good, we haven't had any negative experiences there. Ocean Drive is such a refreshing drink and some of our fav items to order are the screwball chicken wings and gochujang fried eggplant. Perfect spot to enjoy the sunset, also.

Yelp
Tonight I came for dinner to your wonderful place and everything had such a kind vibe and your host Charles was amazing ! Thank you for the excellent service .
