The Lark

October 2025: Stopped by on a Friday night to watch the world series game 6. The bar is quite nice and low key. Bartenders were nice. We had a small group and found a table with stools that had a good view of the TVs. Good henhouse hazy IPA! You can order pizza from joyride pizza next door and they'll bring it over to you. Good Detroit style 🍕! Would come back again for more drinks and pizza 🍕!

Had a great time here after dinner, both bartenders were kind and make us tasty cocktails, pizza we were allow to order from near by store were also good. We will be back

100/10. The bartender are amazing. The ceasar salad was suprisenly great, even came with a side of pesto made with capers and anchovies. 49s bar. Lively. Outside area. Highly recommend 👌

This is a cool bar with my favorite Irish coffee in town...or really anywhere I've been so far in the country. Oddly the other one was at Arclight theaters in Manhattan Beach when it was still around. Great bartenders, solid drinks and you may encounter an awesome cockatoo named Casper.

Y’all, I have a few of problems with this spot. Please read them and make sure that you check your credit card statement and the credit card that is returned to you. I visited with 4 friends and we each got a drink. Very easy, very basic. I’m not drinking right now but my wife had a white wine. I checked my credit card statements and saw that $14 white wine showed up as $26. My other friends were less fortunate because the bartender gave their card to the wrong group. So not only did they charge the wrong amount to the wrong card. They also lost their card. Lastly, we all witnessed the bartender take shots from behind the bar while working. While I can imagine they have a healthy tolerance I have to assume this was one of the many reasons our group had these major issues with a simple order.

I was always a fan of this place, and its new location at 685 Market is a solid upgrade. It still has the same welcoming, no nonsense vibe but a bigger better space. Beers are cold, bartenders are friendly, Guinness is fresh and clean. If Anthony Bourdain was still around and visited this place, he would have said come and grab a pint here at 4pm, strike up a chat with someone you wouldn’t normally speak with, and enjoy the ride

Great low-key spot to catch a game. Solid draught list and cocktails, super friendly staff. They don't have a kitchen but will order Joyride Pizza from next door and put it on your tab!

No wifi. I would expect a bar in the financial district to have wifi. However, good beer and good service!

The Lark Bar is one of those spots that surprises you. On the surface it's a sports bar with TVs everywhere and a bunch of regulars who basically live there, but the drinks are legit. They've got a great selection of spirits and the bartenders actually know what they're doing. It's the kind of place that grows on you fast. If you're new, don't take the regulars too seriously -- they're part of the charm. In a downtown that's been struggling, The Lark feels like one of the few places that still has some real heart.

A few times a year I'm lucky enough to stay at a few different hotels in the city, but most of them are usually striking distance to The Lark Bar, an old favorite for me and my coworkers for years now. No frills. No hipster uniforms, no crazy cocktail program that will load up your glass with edible flowers and enormous ice cubes. The Lark is simply... a bar. There's sports on the TVs, there a vibe in the room, the cocktails are moderately priced, and there's something to be said about returning to the same place, year in, year out, especially when there are so many options in the area. Love me some Lark.

Popped in to watch some NFL on a Sunday afternoon. Barkeep's name was Bailey.....she served some amazing beverages and has an amazing personality. We ordered some pizza and enjoyed ourselves! Great place to chill.

What a fun bar! We had a great time closing out our evening at The Lark Bar, which was right across the street from our hotel. I only ordered wine, but some friends I was with ordered some tasty looking cocktails. They had a good variety of spirits and options to choose from, as well as wine and beer. TVs are here to watch games, and it's an elevated sports bar vibe. Bartenders were helpful and friendly. Definitely a fun time!

The new lark, the old Lark... no matter what Lark I'm hanging out at, it's always a blast. I've only been to their previous location, which is technically in the same building, just on the other side. Their new location has a lot more space and a fresher look, but they kept that divey vibe I've come to love. They do have way more windows which I also appreciate. A fully loaded bar with local beers, tasty wines, and a damn good dirty martini. They've definitely stepped up their cocktail game, but don't expect anything too fancy. A great place to start or end your night. Now if only they sold their Lark hoodies online.

I'm a long time fan of Lark bar going all the way back to the Dave's days. My coworkers and I always used it as a central meeting point on work trip because it was right across from our hotel. Over the years I believe they closed down and we were bummed, but we also started staying in a different hotel across town. Then on our last trip, we ended up at one of the hotels we used to stay at and we discovered that our old watering hole was back! It was right around the corner, but still has the same divey charm. They are always welcoming of our group and are quick to take care of the drinks for everyone. I often get an old fashioned and the one I had recently had an espresso kick to it... good stuff. Can't wait to come back!

For the past decade plus except for the time they were moving locations, this has been a regular haunt or my colleagues and I during our annual visit to the city. The bar has great charm, but the heart of a local spot with a touch of dive, and we love it for all those reasons and many more. Friendly staff, great old-fashioned, solid whiskey, selection access to the great bottle shop that it shares space with during certain hours and just an all-around good time. And all those years we've had new colleagues join us and of course they feel the same way. It's a testament to the way. This establishment is run and the types of people they hire and we certainly appreciate it. It's always clean got a lot of good space and it's the kind of bar. I personally like to hang out in.

Weak drinks, small pours, apathetic bartenders. Shitty area of SF, and super crowded on a Monday. Def won't be back.

My friend and I stumbled upon this small bar and decided to grab a drink. I ordered the Paloma slushy which was refreshing and citrusy. They have lots of fun decoration with a bunch of different art on the wall. The staff were super friendly and even provided us water even after we were done with our drinks.

Went to go give this place my money recently, but the doorman wouldn't let me in. I'd bought a bottle of whisky from the whisky shop next door, the same one they share storefront with, and the bottle was sealed and bagged. I even called it out to be transparent that I wouldn't be opening the whisky. I wound up at House of Shields instead, a real bar and longtime San Francisco institution, and they were happy to take my money. The only other time I'd been to Lark Bar at this location (their old location was on 3rd and they had taken over another longtime industry bar called Dave's) the bartender ignored me for about 10 minutes while flirting with other regular patrons. When she finally poured my drink, she mentioned how "busy" it was. It also felt like a hipster renovation project primarily catering to techies and tourists. Anyways, my overall impression is that there are plenty of other more authentic bars in the area with better service and ambiance. Don't waste your time or money here - they clearly don't value either of those things.

Quaint little bar. Close to the convention center and union square. Seems like a good spot for post-work drinks/Happy Hour. Bartender was friendly. The Old Fashioned I had was above average. I had 2 and unfortunately varied in taste a bit (1 was a bit sweeter than the other and the other was definitely more bitter than most).

LOVED our dip into the Lark Bar! Super selection of beer and liquor. Gorgeous interior. Only recommendation is they should recalibrate the two top tables- they wobble like a mofo yo! Ha! Our beer spilled! Great access to Cali beers when you are traveling- that's just what I needed. Thanks much for a fun night!!

The Lark Bar is a slam dunk/touchdown/home run, i.e., a good sports bar. Nice spot for a meetup or to grab a drink and watch some sports by yourself. Lots of TVs with different games on. Our group loved the Tommy's Margaritas (with tequila or mezcal) and the Paloma Slushie. French 75's and Negronis made to order satisfied our crew. Lots of beers on tap. They have wines, but not an amazing selection - for reds there's a pinot and a cab. It still has the vibe and decor of the original Lark, which was around the corner. Not a huge bar, but there's a good amount of space, with a long bar with stools from front to back on your right and bar stools along the wall on your left. No more pandemic seating outside though. The waitstaff was friendly and fine with customers bringing in food. Prices are very reasonable here, unlike the fancy spots that litter the FiDi and SOMA. They take credit cards. I give it 5-stars for being a good sports bar with value pricing.

Bartenders and security are jerks. Very unfriendly place. They rang their bell which apparently is for "good times" and after the rang it they told us we were being too loud. Went there everyday for ten days because we needed a bar that was close to our hotel. Every night they grew more and more unfriendly. Highly recommend to stay away from this bar. Terrible staff. If you want to feel rushed and not wanted come here!

The Lark Bar is a cool, highly dimmed bar that's great for casual socializing. Many of the guests were just coming off of work, mainly in the tech and financial district. So I think this bar is just a great place to wind down after a long day's work. The bar itself is quite small, but they do have outdoor seating. It was very windy when I went, so everyone was just packed inside. They have a handful of drink menus, including cocktails, beers, and flights, which were decently priced. I ordered the Paloma Slushy, and it was quite sweet but definitely hit the spot.

Bartender was so rude he did not like out of town people. Service was terrible he kept on asking when are you guys going back home. Didn't have the food. Ambiance was okay. If you are a tourist don't go. They don't like you.

Fun stop near my hotel. Perfect to pop in for a quick drink. I believe there was sportsball on TV at the time I went, so it was loud and busy, but service was fast.

Extremely rude establishment, and their floor is always dirty, I slipped on their floor and they tried to blame it on me being drunk, despite them having a "slippery when wet" sign on the floor.

It was very clear the Bar Tenders did not want to be there & didn't want us there - Tuesday night, 10/28. Worst experience ever! Don't go here!

Per usual stand in line wait for a drink get passed up for for people who came after me. Rude as expected. Bartenders didnt make any eye contact say hello or acknowledge me waiting.

Very nice and clean bar. Beer was cold, bar tender kindly offer bitters & soda complimentary, and location was great for meeting friends after work.

I tried this bar with a group of my coworkers on a weekday evening. We had an excellent time! The bar was able to accommodate our group of 12 people. I had two drinks: the margarita and the Paloma slushy. The Paloma slushy was DELICIOUS! Refreshing and a bit sweet and fruity. The margarita was also very good although the Paloma slushy just stood out significantly. We also ordered pizza. The bar partners with the nearby Joyride pizza restaurant. The pizza was also really good especially their sweet heat pineapple pizza and the buffalo chicken pizza. You can order your pizza at the bar at the same time that you order your drinks. The lark is also located very close to the Montgomery BART station.

This bar used to be on 3rd St and moved here recently. It is a backup bar when nearby bars close earlier than their stated hours, or earlier than expected. It feels like a dive bar but not of the beer stench and grimy variety. What liquor bottles they carry and pour are also cocktail bar quality. Seats are limited due to the crowds from surrounding locations, so hit ot miss. This area borders SOMA and Union Square, but we rarely sit down at dive bars.

Nice bar to watch a football game. It was somewhat crowded, but plenty of seating. Good for cocktails. A few draft beers on tap but not an extensive selection. No food, but you can order pizza at the bar and they have it delivered from the shop down the street -- it was very good pizza.

A guy that worked there came out and let me sit in a orange Studebaker Lark and took a picture of me and my gf. How can I not? 5 Stars.

I stopped in this dark and cozy bar because I heard they had a good selection of whiskies. We enjoyed a 10yr Whistle Pig and and Angel's Envy Rye, chased with a couple of Tecate's. Friendly bar tenders. Good outdoor patio seating if you are looking for more space and daylight. This is a great 'hole in the wall' bar with a great selection of whiskies. I'll be back when I'm in the SOMA District.

Best bar! All new (it's around the corner from old lark bar on market st). Great bar for watching matches or corporate events. Huge space - 100 % recommended . New Lark is pretty cool. Definitely a decor upgrade and right around the corner from the original on 3rd, and still connected to Cask!

Came here to meet a friend and have a few beers. It's a cool spot to hang out for a bit with nice decor. Service was quick, we didn't have to wait long for our drinks.

Nice little dive bar. Had an old school vibe. Didn't stay long but nice bartenders.

So glad to find this place. Great little bar open on the weekend when many other nearby joints are closed. And while their cocktails are great what makes this place really special is you can also order a joyride pizza right at the bar and just a little while later you've got a square pizza in your face. Can't wait to go back

It's a good bar. Nothing about it pops per se but bars don't need to have a thing necessarily. They just need to have the goods and be passably clean and maybe even a little cozy. I'd say the Lark does those things and the beer selection isn't bad either. Wouldn't change a thing.

Great quality drinks, great prices. Their old fashioned is unique. I wish they have some nibbles too

As a group of four girls going to a sports bar on a Sunday, we surprisingly had an amazing time. There wasn't music for dancing, but we had a great time chatting with the bartender and drinking on a casual night. The bartender, Scott, made us feel safe about a round of shots a stranger ordered for us as he came over to reassure us that he had poured the drinks himself and had watched the man. We appreciated how he looked after us and addressed our concerns before we even asked. Definitely give this bar a visit!

Great place to stop after the game and before hopping on BART. Service was fine, mixed drink was very good and the beer is pretty cold. Lots of sports memorabilia on the walls and in the decor. My second postgame visit and will definitely do it again.

This place was crowded as hell at 5pm on a Monday. But then I took a good look around and saw all the hot guys in suits everywhere and quickly decided this will be my new favorite happy hour. Plus, there was no line for the ladies room for once and we all know that's important. The Happy Hour margaritas were off the charts good and the bar manager ended up giving us free tequila shots in honor of the birthday boy. I'll be back.

Their paloma slushies are on point. I'm pretty sure The Lark is freaked out every time my coworkers come into town, because when is it ever that busy on a random Tuesday night? This place packs about 30 max and that's about how many of us show up. The bartenders don't even bat an eye. That's how you know they're true professionals. I got a paloma slushie, which is a fantastic drink and if you love slushies you should try it. The bartender forgot to get my drink. When I asked about it again, he apologized and gave it to me for free. I'm a patron for life with that one act of service. Also, I couldn't stay away if I wanted to, since everyone comes here. Prices are low for San Francisco. So you have good quality, great service, for moderately priced drinks. Why go anywhere else?

Accidentally stumbled upon this place one night and happy I did. Solid whiskey and bourbon drinks. Good for groups of up to 4. It's not too large of a place, easiest to find space for 2. Walking distance to Montgomery bart station. Right around the corner from Local Edition. I'll be back.

I felt Bartender was discriminating my group because they "look Latino" she refused to serve one of our friends because he has a speech impediment and English isn't his first language and then a group before us all "American looking" drunk af were able to be loud af make a fool of themselves , literally one of the girls said she was too drunk and she kept serving them but refused to serve one of our friends who was not drunk at all. When they received their bill she said I can take stuff off because I like your groups vibes and I don't want to get in trouble with Michael which I don't know if that the owner (who knows) totally sketch cus she was deleting a bunch of things off their tab. Just FYI

Great service, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always have the big games on with multiple mounted televisions.

Been a long time since I slipped into The Lark and hasn't changed a bit! A local landing late night spot for industry folks and those needing a "corner" before heading home. While I enjoyed a Virgin Rum and Diet Coke, my Cousin Tracey had a White Russian that looked delicious. She said it was the perfect nightcap!

This has the feel of a neighborhood bar, but tucked right in the city. The interior is pretty small and semi dark inside, with a majority of lighting coming from the outside. The bar surprised me with the quality of spirits they carry and also people are able to bring their furry friends (dogs) in with them. I ordered my penicillin and was impressed at how the cocktail turned out. Definitely a chill spot to grab a quick drink before heading to the next spot.

Literally best old fashioned in California. They make their own syrup in house which is a game changer. Good vibes, great bartender. Definitely recommend.

This is a really cool spot! We would've stayed longer, but it was just a little cold sitting outside (they do have heaters though!) We stopped here for after dinner drinks in our way back to our hotel. Each of us got an Irish coffee, and they really hit the spot! I could see this being an awesome bar to just hang out at for hours with a group. The inside has a really cool old-timey feel to it, so when it's open for indoor drinking that'll be nice!
