The restaurant’s name suggests an authentic South Indian experience, but the reality was a major disappointment. While the dosa texture was good and the North Indian dishes (chapathi and paneer) were decent, the South Indian staples were a total letdown. The sambar and rasam lacked any depth of flavor and tasted like they were made from instant "ready-to-eat" mixes. To make matters worse, the pricing is exorbitant. Since they don't offer thalis on holidays, we ordered rice, sambar, rasam, and yogurt individually—only to be charged $8 per item. Paying that much for "miserable" tasting food feels like a total rip-off. We ended up paying over $200 for a family of 4 adults and three children. To top it off, an 18% gratuity was automatically added; given the poor food quality, I truly hope that money actually went to the hard-working waiters rather than the management. It seems the kitchen understands North Indian cooking but is totally lost when it comes to South Indian cuisine.

Paid ~$45 for filter coffee, Gobi Manchuria, and an onion dosa, and honestly, it felt overpriced. Filter coffee at $8 didn’t feel special enough to justify the price. Gobi Manchuria was okay but served in a plastic bowl—if this place considers itself fine dining, the presentation should match the pricing. Onion dosa was average; the sambar was very thin (almost rasam) and the chutney was cold. I will stick with old friend, woodlands Genuine question guys,: Is it just me, or does this place feel way too expensive for what you get? Almost like a rip-off?

Google
Was excited about thali Which is why we came No thali So We order Dahi puri it was ok no green chutney just tamarind The butter dosa we order was dry and almost empty of filling No tomato chutney just watery sambar and tasteless coconut chutney? We also had rasam no spice but it was hot and tangy My husband had beer Food came out to fifty dollars a little high We left full I was slightly dissatisfied not desi flavor or fresh But filling My husband (he is American) didn’t know the difference and thought it was great Chole batura for $20 Wow Very expensive Thumbs up $8 I don’t recall a chai but if I did it might have been $8 as much as a starter almost Would I go back no For me no

Google
Absolutely delicious! We ordered five menu items to split, all as vegan and 10/10 would get each one again 🤩 Our server was Anthony, he was friendly, service was quick, and our water was always filled. We will definitely come back!

Google
Ordered Mysore Masala Dosa and Chilli Garlic Noodles. The dosa tasted good but wasn’t hot enough, same with the noodles. I understand the restaurant was short-staffed and dine-in was closed early. However, it’s better to say no upfront than serve food with long wait times or compromised quality. We also ordered two Kathi rolls to go. Waited 30–40 minutes, which was fine since they informed us. But the rolls were very disappointing — extremely small portions, $16 each is not justified, and they were not properly stuffed. Overall, poor value for money. Quality and portion size need improvement.

Google
The food seriously hit the spot — everything tasted insanely fresh and flavorful (the paneer rava dosa was crispy perfection and the pani puri + cutlet had me scraping the plate), but the real MVP was Anthony, our server, who made the whole meal 10x better with his funny recommendations and awesome energy. The vibe is super laid-back and welcoming 🔥Would definitely come back again

Google
Omgoodness this is best Indian food I've ever had. I tried the sampler platter with the appetizer and dessert. So much flavor. Perfectly portion. Fernandez was a fantastic server who took time to explain each dish. I'll definitely be back.

Google
Good location, good food, good ambience, good stuff and authentic taste. We ordered Special Thali (unlimited refills), Paneer Tikka Kathi roll, Mango Lassi, Coffee. The roll was a little bit different than I expected, the whole wheat paratha wrap was thin and I felt it was a bit Non-Indian style. Otherwise the thali, lassi, coffee were super awesome. Friendly stuffs made the experience beautiful. Will visit again to try other things.

Yelp
No meat? No problems! So many delectable choices to choose from but with a little help from our awesome server Ronald, we left with full bellies and to-go left overs for tomorrow's lunch! Tucked in a busy shopping mall off Sand Lake Rd. you cannot miss the bright sign and the few small outdoor tables. Walking in, there is inviting music and delicious aromas filling the air. Grab a seat and take a close look at that menu. Our server, Ronald, took our drink order and gave us ample time to peruse the menu. We asked a few questions and he gave us some good tips. What followed was a vegetarian delight with an explosive mouth party of flavors! We started with the Samosa Chaat; I'm a Chaat connoisseur and this was above the bar good! Such a nice blend of warm puffed Samosa's contrasted with the room temperature chickpeas and the cold yogurt, cilantro, onion and lovely shaved red beets. Crunch, spicy, sweet and just perfect. Our main meal consisted of Paper Masala Dosa (Ronald's pick), Kadai Bhindi Masala and garlic naan. Um, where to start? It was our first time having Paper Masala Dosa. GIANT rice flour crape (think, as long as a rolled newspaper) with 3 sides: coconut chutney, curried potatoes and warm lentils. Peel crepe, dip and eat. Unique and very tasty! Kadai Bhindi Masala gorgeous! If you like okra, this is your dish! Sautéed okra, onion, tomatoes and spices topped with chopped cilantro, paired with the garlic made this dish twice as delicious. The okra was exceptional and the onions were translucent and sweet; crazy good! If you're in the mood for Indian and enjoy Vegetarian/Vegan food, Madras Cafe is your place. The service was exceptional (did I mention Ronald?) and the food was outstanding.

Yelp
Food was fantastic ... love the Dosa so much... we picked up few more for our family and next few days... The kitchen cook should be or must be from Madras i guess.. he did a fantastic job on all the south indian dishers.. my family got some North indian food like Paneer Masala, Parata, Chapathi etc.. Good food, i would definitely recommend . Person who served was Anthony.. This happened on a Saturday evening around 18:30 PM approxiately. July 12th 2025. Ambience was fantastic... loved the way they have done the restaurant. Yelp
Our vegan group stopped in for some tasty Indian food, and they delivered! Great atmosphere with neutral tones and lamps, with a long bar. Our server was quick, helpful, and friendly. Several at our table ordered different dosas, or bread items, while I ordered the Dal Tadke (Lentils) and a friend ordered the Chana Masala (chickpeas). Both came with rice and were delicious and filling. The lentils reminded me of what I make at home and were very comforting, just had a few spices that I don't usually use. The chickpeas were definitely a different flavor than I make, but it was an interesting change up. Another friend had the Veggie Fried Rice, which was an enormous bowl that looked amazing! I will definitely be back ext time I'm in town to try more of these amazing dishes, and this visit has inspired me to try other Indian restaurants back home!

Yelp
If you're looking for a vegetarian place then this is the perfect spot! Almost every dish I have gotten here has been great. My favorite is their curries! The kadai bhindi masala (okra), aloo palak (spinach and potato), and aloo gobi (cauliflower) were great. Get a garlic naan to dip into their sauce and you will be full. I did try their house special thalis but felt like curry was a better option. With so many small samples of everything and not knowing what I was eating it was difficult to tell what sauce goes with what etc. Def need to try all their other dishes.

Yelp
I went with my dad and friends on a Saturday evening. I made a reservation for 6 at 8:30 and was informed there would be a small wait. We arrived around that time, waited for another 5 minutes, and then seated into a table in the front. The adults shared a nice bottle of Argentina Merlot wine (about 30 dollars), which was tart, but still mellow. My dad's friend ordered spring rolls for appetizer, but I didn't try it. He said it was pretty good. For my entree, I did the vegetable chili garlic noodles, which had the right amount of toasted garlic to provide the flavor. The noodles were al dante, and loved the fresh scallions and onions as well. I asked for medium spicy, but it was still a bit too mild. Thankfully they had some hot sauce to bring the heat. My dad's friend ordered a thali and was warned it would be huge. They were not kidding at all! The plate filled quite a bit of our table. It was a nice feast for him. For dessert, I loved their Ras Malai, made with cottage cheese in a milk sauce with pistachios on top. It was divine! The service was professional, but seemed a bit busy. It was a bit crowded when we arrived and our server while friendly, may have seemed stressed as well. He still did a great job pouring our wine, taking our ordering, delivering items, etc. The seating area is a bit small, but still pretty cozy. The bar had beer and wine, but I don't know if they had cocktails. There was outdoor seating as well, but it could get loud with the music from the neighboring jazz bar. Parking can be difficult during the weekend, so best to bring a bit of patience as well. For a vegetarian Indian restaurant, I found the quality to be great for the price. Even though it is a bit expensive, it is in the restaurant row district and a great choice for vegetarian food. If you are looking for meat or seafood options, their sister restaurant, Saffron, is next door. Both are great places for nice Indian food in the Sand Lake Road area.

Yelp
I'm going to become Vegetarian soon and I couldn't resist this place Anthony, our server was awesome and very hospitable. They offer a lunch buffet every day that you can't beat it. It's only $18 and they serve you so much food. The best thing is that it's Healthy and satisfying. Will be coming back soon. You have to experience the Food and atmosphere at this Gem in Dr.Phillips.

Yelp
Madras is a true hidden gem in Dr Phillips, Orlando No matter what you order, you can't go wrong. Food, Service and Atmosphere is amazing!

Yelp
Beware. I ordered a thali to go through a food delivery app. They took 45 minutes to prepare the order ready. On top of that, they don't pick up calls quickly. Had to wait 10 minutes on the line. The person who answered was not friendly. Beware food deliverers. Accept only if you are willing to wait. I regret ordering at this restaurant. The wait is enough to kill the appetite.

Yelp
Easy five stars. Wonderful service (made sure to give us extra vegan sauce bc we told them we are vegan). The people are sweet, ambiance is great, and food is extremely delicious.

Yelp
My wife and I arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 p.m. The place is open until 10:30 p.m., so we thought we had plenty of time. We placed our order using their online system--even though we were dining in--and soon after, we received our drinks, brought to us by a tall waiter. There were three waiters and one cleaner working that evening. We waited quite a while for our food. We expected the appetizer to arrive first, but instead, I was brought one Bathura (a type of fried bread). Strangely, the curry that was supposed to accompany it was missing, so the Bathura just sat on our table, getting cold since I couldn't eat it without the curry. We flagged down one of the other waiters to let him know we were still waiting on the rest of our order, including appetizers and curry. He said he would check with the kitchen and get back to us--but never did. A few minutes later, we asked the same waiter again. He gave the same response and again, nothing happened. Meanwhile, a couple that arrived after us was already enjoying their food within five minutes of sitting down!!! Our food finally began arriving--appetizer, curry, and other items--though still not everything. My wife's dosa and Raita was missing. We started eating what we had, hoping the rest of the food would follow soon. After waiting some more, we flagged down the tall waiter who had initially brought our drinks. We told him the dosa was still missing. Instead of helping, he began lecturing us about how they had 16 dosa orders pending. My wife politely said, "Don't worry about the dosa, I ate some of my husband's food. Please cancel it." But he refused, saying it couldn't be refunded, so they had to bring it. At this point, it was 10:15 p.m. and tall waiter confirmed that we had placed our order by 9:41 p.m....yet my wife's dosa didn't arrive until 10:20 p.m.--almost 40 minutes later. The raita (a yogurt-based side dish) still didn't arrive. I was ready to give up, but my wife called over the remaining 3rd waiter and let him know. He offered to pack it to-go since it was already 10:25 p.m. Along with the raita, they gave us two gulab jamuns (an Indian dessert) as a gesture. The waiter apologized and explained the chef was new and had messed up the orders. We told him we didn't want anything extra, just what we had paid for, but he insisted. Sadly, we ended up throwing the extras away since we were flying out the next day. The Bathura, curry, sambar, and potato curry were piping hot and quite good. The appetizer and dosa were cold by the time we got them. I never got to eat the raita with my meal since it came too late. I don't live in Florida, so I won't be returning, but if you do plan to eat here, be very careful with how you place your order and manage expectations. Also, it's worth noting that even though you're dining in, all orders must be placed through an online app. Lastly, the tall waiter who first brought our drinks and later lectured us about the dosa backlog...he mostly hung out near the bar during service, and at one point, I saw him take a napkin, wipe his entire face with it, and then go right back to work without washing his hands. I found what he did pretty gross. If I lived in Florida I would never go to this restaurant again.

Yelp
Quick, responsive, courteous, engaging service, and a reasonably priced thali for those who are adventurous and or vegetarian. However, the quality of the ingredients and execution, flavors, and freshness of the food are all suspect. The water also tastes quite blemished, for those who would notice and draw conclusions from such. While not in the realm of offering disfavor, I would advise caution and awareness in advance.

Yelp
Ronald was an Amazing server. Explained all the dishes very well and how they should be eaten. Explosion of flavors. Everything was delicious. Spicy and none spicy. Everything is Vegetarian or Vegan. Nice quiet and intimate place for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
This place has vegetarian and is authentically Indian food. Both are rare to me in Miami. So I'm over the moon to have found it here in Orlando. As an Indian I recommend the food. Staff were attentive and friendly. Place is clean. Would have got 5 stars if the decor had been refreshed. Still - don't miss it

Yelp
Enjoyed a delicious meal at the Madras Cafe. Our server Nick was very fun and attentive. We were celebrating my MIL's birthday and they brought out gulab jamun with a candle and also played a birthday song over their speakers. My MIL was so happy. The music was definitely a sweet touch. All of our dishes came out well. I ordered the Channa Batura and it was soft and flavorful. The dosa was nice and crispy. Usually I'm not a big fan of sambar but theirs was pretty good. This is definitely a good choice if you're craving traditional south Indian cuisine! We enjoyed all of our meals and will return!

Yelp
Ever since we first discovered Madras, we started going at least every week that we're in town! The lunch special is our go to for lunch or if we go for dinner we order the Thalis so it's the best of all worlds Special thank you to Ronald and Leo for the amazing service

Yelp
The family and I decided to have lunch here today and Anthony took care a great care of us! The food was amazing as usual and Anthony's Service was spectacular! Definitely will be back soon

Yelp
I've been here before during Covid but ordered out and I didn't know what any of the names were but every single sauce was so remarkably delicious. This time around I had to return with family and we had so many items that I wish I remembered what they were. The ambiance was beautiful and chill and had a nice candlelight dim light for the evening. The wait was very long once we were seated but besides that the waiter took his time to answer all I'd my sisters questions on the menu as we tried as many things as possible. I had the eggplant with rice and it was so delicious and tasty. It was my favorite dish out of everything we tried. I truly enjoyed all the flavors. There was minor spice when I said mild which I can appreciate because some Indian places I have been to have been almost unbearable heat with the spice but this place allows you to enjoy the amazing spices they use without the over powering heat. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy Indian food. It's so delicious. They also offer Thai inspired dishes as well. I'll definitely return soon.

Awesome food and great service. Top notch restaurant as far as food is concerned. Really great restaurant in Sand Lake Area. It's Vegetarian only !

Yelp
Something like a three or four. The friends who took me here just Love them, however, I wasn't as impressed as compared to some of the other Indian fare I've been enjoying this year. That said, overall, the experience was still pretty good. The waitstaff was friendly, helpful, and nice. And it's a cool spot too. Onion and chili uthappam was pretty good. It's just our two other dishes, as ordered by my friends, pretty much looked and tasted the same leaving them wondering. One of the dishes was supposed to have fenugreek but none of us could taste it. Damn it, I wish I could remember what all they ordered.

Yelp
The name of the place has 'Madras' so be smart and order South Indian food here. Don't be silly like us and order chaat & Chinese food at this place, cuz they specialize in South Indian food. Stick to the South Indian food! We got the Bahubali thali and I must say I have never seen a plate as big as this thali. It was this size of the table! It's has all the appetizers and entrees that may interest you hence you get to taste a little bit of everything. A thali is like a buffet that comes to your table. We also got some since chaat and a manchow soup. Like I said, don't waste your stomach's real estate in this stuff cuz this is not their speciality. Hard skip. The coffee and tea at the end were very authentic and also served in a traditional way in a layered steel cup. Parking out front is easy peasy. Servers were very friendly but I wish they did a better job explaining what to expect from the various dishes we ordered.

Yelp
I was surprised to see the many Jain items on the menu. We had Jain Mutter Paneer and Jain Alou Gobi both were very good. The service was excellent. The Ambiance was very clean and modern. Definitely a good Indian restaurant.

Yelp
Just had lunch. We had to try the lunch Thali ($17). The amount of food is insane. What is even crazier is it's all you can eat they will bring you out more of anything you want. I felt so bad I only ate half of mine it was way to much food. I love getting to have an assortment of items. I have had a good amount of Indian food and I am always excited when something I haven't tried before shows up on my plate. I had never had the potato dish. It had great complex flavor and a bit of a crunch which was a nice surprise texture. It comes with an appetizer, 2 soups(Sambar and rasum) , 2 kinds of rice, dosa, papadum , and poori. Dal, 3 entrees(Chana masala, palak paneer), pickle, coconut chutney, yogurt and desert. Our server Ronald was fantastic. He took the time to explain what everything is to my mom and checked on us often to see if we wanted more of anything. It was enough food for two people but understandably you can't share at lunch since it's all you can eat. There are other Thalia's on the dinner menu that he said you can order and share. Probably what we will do next time and bring more people.

Yelp
What a great restaurant! Now I understand why there is a line out the door and people will wait! The food is delicious, so fresh and great service. We had a mango lassi, khadi bhindi, paneer makhani, bathura and samosa chat. Our server was great and accommodating! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
We came here after a day at the water park and it totally hit the spot. We ordered the maysore masala dosa, paneer makhani, and veg biryani. All of it was very tasty and a good spice level. Nice ambiance and great service. I would come back.

Yelp
We were visiting family in Orlando and wanted to eat some South Indian food. It's a small restaurant with limited seating. The service is decent and the servers were friendly. We ordered the following food: - Sev Puri -- well made. The spice and flavor was great. Loved it. - Poori Bhaji -- my son ordered this dish and loved it. We asked them to make it mild. - Chola Bhatura -- this was yummy. It comes with one Bhatura and the Channa was delicious. - Rava Masala Dosa -- the dosa is amazing. But the sambhar and chutney were not good. Also, they should give more sambhar with the food. Overall, a great place for some South Indian food.

Praveen B.

Yelp
We first attempted a visit on a Monday evening. With a 1hr wait we retried on a Tuesday as soon as they opened in the evening. We got a table right away. But soon all the tables filled up and he had a line of ppl waiting by the time we left in an hours time. So they do get very busy. Service was quick. So that is good. On the food front, the Hakka noodles were good. The uttapam was just ok. The channa bhatura was hit! The menu had some other tempting items. Will recommend if you can get a table!
google avatar

Devanshi B.

Yelp
**vegetarian food review** I highly recommend this Indian restaurant if you're in Orlando and you like Indian food. I ate here twice in 3 days and I wish I had more days to explore more items. Bahubali Thali - a huge huge plate with multiple items starting from dal rice to naan-sabji to dosa/idly and chutneys. Most of the things in the thali were great! Chutneys were amazing, dosa was well cooked, sabji were well cooked, daal was good. Evrything was perfectly spicy, so we enjoyed the meal! If you like very sweet desserts, then the gulab jamun and the milk based desserts are for u! Day 2 - Mysore masala dosa and medu vada---- Again, great taste of vada and dosas. The Mysore dosa is a bit spicy coz of the masala they put in the dosa. However, the potato stuffing along with it kind of balances the spicy flavor. The chutneys and Sambar were as usual good. The ambiance is nice. Feels fancy with the bar there. And service was good too, no complaints.

Alex W.

Yelp
It was my first time ordering from this restaurant based on the reviews. Order was ready within 10 mins, but that's as good as it got. My son and I spent the rest of the night and the next day on the toilet. Please don't order from here. You will get sick.

Yelp
I loved Madras! The staff was so kind, shout out specifically to Jass, who was very friendly and doing a great job training one of the newer employees. We ordered a variety of food to share with the table and it was a great amount. I love that this place is completely vegetarian/vegan, gave me so many options to pick from! Started dinner off with vegetable samosas, which had a tamarind sauce and another green sauce that had a hint of garlic and spice (was my particular favorite). I particularly enjoyed the vegetable korma, so sweet with a kick of spicy, accompanied with a side of jasmine rice. Had to order the garlic naan, which was vegan, so delicious and packed with flavor. I enjoyed a nice refreshing mango juice. I also had a sip of thumbs up, which was like an Indian Coca Cola; I also tried the fresh lime soda which was sooooo good, I can't even describe how good it was, a must if you like lemonade, but with a carbonated twist. Overall, Madras was very appetizing. The restaurant is decorated very nicely! Staff is kind and attentive. The prices overall were reasonable and the amount of food you get is great to share!

Yelp
A great variety of delicious Indian cuisine. The service is very nice and friendly. We really like the atmosphere and vibe. There are many dishes I haven't heard of, but every one I try is very good. We've visited Orlando for about a week and a half, and came here every other night for dinner. Can't wait to come back next time we visit. Thank you Madras Cafe and Aloha!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing South Indian vegetarian food. We had great service too. Can't wait to go back for the lunch thali!

Pratyusha C.

Yelp
Keeping the overly priced menu items aside, we thought we could get good vegetarian food so we went in last evening. Ambience was good and the order was taken upon request. Food was stale. Quantity was very less, persons 2 tablespoons of each variety in each cup was served. . To begin with, dal- very well diluted, rasam- very sour, chana masala- very sweet, mixed vegetable curry- really hard to chew, rice- 10-12 tablespoons served and sambar was the only one I can say was okay. My son got the 26$ thali so he didn't get the "special" rice and I ordered madras thali so I got couple more spoons of some "variety rice "that I have no clue about. Overall, poor quality of everything including tea that they get from next door and they are just looting their customers for this price
google avatar

Yelp
Grabbing a bite to eat at The Madras Cafe has been on my to-do list for awhile. I love traditional Indian food like so going to a strictly vegetarian restaurant was a bit outside of my comfort zone. I'm very pleased to say that I enjoy everything I ordered. When I arrived, I asked my server Fernandes for his recommendations and he said the Chana Bhatura would be a good choice because I like Chicken Tikki Masala. It was a really great choice, absolutely delicious!!! The chickpeas were tender and juicy and the sauce was excellent. I also enjoyed the Vegetable Samosa and Rasam (spicy and very flavorful.) I'm going to try the Tandoori Momo next time. Thank You Fernandes!

Rashmi R.

Yelp
Bad service. Food was mediocre and the service was a turn off. They were really slow in bringing the food so if you have elderly or little ones in your group they won't feel good waiting that long. Plus the waiter lectured about the backlog of thali orders so that took away from the experience. It was a miss. I'm not from Florida so if I come back I won't be coming back to this restaurant.

Judy C.

Yelp
High expectations from the reviews but very disappointing. Lunch thali was particularly bad. Indistinguishable, flavorless curries, one was actually grey! Sambar and rasam were tasteless, even the papadam was stale. Coconut chutney was a green liquid and dessert was rice in a pink mystery liquid, not kheer by any stretch of the imagination. Although $20 for a good thali is reasonable, this was definitely not worth the money...

Had a great late lunch. Happy to see so many others enjoying, as well. When waiting for a table, someone came in behind us and saw us looking at the menu. He suggested the lunch Thali special. Was a nice variety and very filling, especially with free refills.

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants and they have great vegan and gluten free food options. We were total regulars here when we were fulltime RVing in FL. This is still our go to place when we are here. Definitely try these 2 on your next visit. *Gobi Manchurian Dry (it's delicious cauliflower) *Paper Masala Dosa

Yelp
Food quality is great and Madras Cafe doesn't only have your typical Indian menu with only curries. They have a great variety of vegetarian street food (and as someone who isn't vegetarian, I don't even miss the meat). I especially love the masala dosa and cholay bhatura. Service is quick and staff is friendly. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great service. Food was hot. Dosa was mediocre, Rava Dosa didn't even feel like there was any in there. Sambhar was a thick Daal that was way too tangy. I ordered rasa masala Dosa, the masala came on the side, colder then dosa. Coconut chutney was mediocre at best. Not sure who rated these high scores but you just need better taste buds.

Yelp
There's lots of vegetarian options and everything we tried was delicious! It's a very cute, intimate space with very friendly staff.

Yelp
Went for dinner when we were in Orlando. Was excited to see the many jain options, but didn't enjoy the food as much. Gobi manchurian was lacking flavor and was too burnt / crispy. The malai kofta had manchurian balls as the koftas. Paneer makhani was good but a bit tangy. Mango lassi was nice and sweet. The naan didn't look like a traditional made naan -- looked more ready made. Would recommend trying the South Indian food instead! Wish we'd tried that instead! Service was friendly - they were busy but friendly!

Yelp
To begin with, the minute we walked in, the waiter said it is unlimited Thali. We sat down and when we started ordering, he changed the story that it is only unlimited Thali if at least 4 people out of the group order Thali. Then the food came out. Poori is good but Sambar and Rasam are both very sour and only one note. I will not recommend Thali at this restaurant. I haven't tasted other items on the menu but left pretty disappointed with half lies and bad Thali.

Yelp
This is definitely not a authentic South Indian restaurant. Named as Madras cade to fool customers. Food is mediocre. Medu vada we got tasted like the frozen store brought vadas. Sambar is sweet and chutney is cold. Both the masala d osa that we good is small and lukewarm. Not sure how that is possible. Tandoori momos taste burnt Paneer curry and paratha was descent. Service and atmosphere is good.

Yelp
Third time visiting here in the last 10 months. Once again we were not disappointed. We each enjoyed the lunch Thali (though we probably should have shared one since it had more food than we anticipated). The flavors are amazing. The variety of breads, soups and small dishes was great. Flavorful only begins to describe the tastes. Our server, Fernandes, did a fabulous job. He was attentive and answered our questions without making us feel like we were bothering him. Our previous waiter, Ronald, even remembered us from last year and came to say hello. Positive experience again and we will likely be back in May when we visit Orlando again.

Yelp
Wow! This is far and away the best use of this restaurant space ever. It retains its former upscale decor, but brings an all new menu and cuisine to the area. Affiliated with the nearby Saffron Indian Restaurant, but this restaurant is Southern Indian, and entirely vegetarian, or even vegan if you wish. The lunch "table side buffet" is actually a traditional Thali, a tray with an assortment of soups and stews, a bowl of rice, and a variety of breads for dipping. It is easily the best Indian lunch deal in town, and arguably one of the best lunches in town. I'm a fan of lunch at Saffron, and I wasn't sure this would be that different, but it is quite distinct, and deserves its own separate recognition as a best Indian food winner.

Yelp
I was in the mood for south Indian food before heading back home. This thali (a lunch platter/box) was large and tasty- you can see from the image that it included multiple veg curries a dosa (rice and dal/lentils fermented into a batter that is then pan fried into a thin-crepe-like pancake), pouri (small/midsized bread that is fried - a bit smaller than batura but similar), pekora (chickpea flower and spices deep fried as batter on onion pieces) and dessert. The service was very prompt and kind. I ate too much but was happy. In terms of spice level, I felt like it was on the medium side. I didn't regret a thing.
