"Located in a triangle-shaped building established in 1901, this neighborhood steakhouse offers premium cuts with a Prohibition-era feel. For a fancy night-in, the creamy parmesan potatoes with a ribeye ordered to go are good bets. There is limited indoor seating available as well." - Alana Al-Hatlani

Food was good, and they give big portions. We ended up getting the stuffed pork chops and salmon fillet. They have complimentary bread rolls, which were fresh and warm. The atmosphere is laid back and not anything that stuck out to me. There is limited seating - we came as walk-ins, but I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

Parking can be tough to find even when dining early, but it's worth the effort once you get to your table. I had the 9 oz. Filet and ordered medium rare but it came more on The medium side. My son ordered the same thing and his was a touch more medium rare than mine was. The steaks had a good char on them adding to the flavor. We left room for some dessert which was the Creme Brulee and peach cobbler. Both were absolutely delicious!.

Best steakhouse, with value in mind, in WA Washington. Hands down. Pictured order: 16oz Ribeye (med-rare), with garlic mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and sautéed mushrooms as an accompaniment. Starter was a fresh caesar salad. And all paired with a simple glass of merlot. My steak was perfectly cooked. Fantastic marbling throughout the ribeye. And the flavor was just amazing--but without overwhelming the flavor of the meat itself. The caesar salad was tossed beautifully, with just the right amount of cheese, dressing, and a lovely hint of anchovy. I'll never NOT get this salad for my starter. The sides are excellent, with the garlic mashed potatoes perfectly flavored and with a great texture. Lastly, the mushrooms were to die for and the perfect accompaniment to my steak. As for service: My server, Raina, was incredibly kind and helpful--especially with getting in my solo order ahead of a huge business group that was ready to order (so my food wouldn't be held up behind them). She checked on me repeatedly, ensuring that I never felt forgotten during the very busy dinner rush. The best part of the experience: The bill. $55 for a large, high-quality ribeye steak, in 2024, is fantastic. The value proposition, especially in terms of the quality of the food, is outstanding. It's great for first-dates, casual, or fine diners alike. My *only* demerits against Melrose would likely be the building itself. It's small and it's a very old building. Much of the furniture is quite old. And the atmosphere is somewhat--dank. Also, the dining space is very, very limited. Walk-ins are accepted, but don't be surprised if you're hit with a long wait. That said, the building *is* a historical landmark, dating back to 1901. It's a living piece of Renton history. And most of this is mainly nit-picky of me, but I can totally see how the space could be a turn-off for diners looking for something a little more spacious and modern--rather than someplace as rustic as the Melrose Grill. All in all, this is my favorite steakhouse in all of Western Washington. If you love your steakhouse experiences, then the Melrose Grill is a MUST TRY in my opinion!

This was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Went with a group and we all ordered different items so we could taste as much of the menu as possible. Steaks were amazing, cajon pasta was amazing, and the halibut was divine. Not a single item disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed, unless you hate really good food!

Food was amazing! Steak cooked perfectly, of course, it is their specialty. Salmon was amazing too. Drinks were great, they have a huge bourbon/whiskey/scotch list. Servers were very attentive and had positive energy. Super dark inside which was ok, they definitely need to wipe down the red panels on the booths more frequently. Otherwise great experience!

This place is absolutely amazing, and an extraordinary value. The customer service was top notch, and Mae treated me very good with her service. I do not live in the area, so this was my first time visiting the Melrose Grill, but it is a refreshing change from all of the blah over priced underwhelming food restaurants these days. I ordered the brochette with prawns, and it was truly amazing. You get to try both their New York and ribeye, I had mine, medium, rare, and it was salted and seasoned perfectly. The Parmesan crispy potatoes were a nice mix up from the traditional baked potato or mashed potatoes, and the fresh steamed veggies were also seasoned to perfection. And they were not over cooked, there was a slight crunch to them, which is the correct way to steam vegetables. The atmosphere is also wonderful, as I believe this is an original location from 1901. Thank you for the great dining experience.

Make Reservations! We lucked out just tripping around for somewhere to eat that wasn’t fast food, they had a cancellation and sat us immediately. The food was wonderful Dungeness Crab with garlic potatoes and vegetables yum. Parkin kind of sucked since the location is in a small business area but we found a pay spot kitty corner at behind BofA after hours, not bad just took a bit to find.
