The Nolitan

Cool hotel in a great location close to a lot of great food and walking distance from shopping. The room was comfortable, and had a small balcony overlooking the street. I subtracted one star because the room, while trendy, could use a little attention to some wear and tear, and having a kettle or coffee maker in the room would have been nice. That being said, these issues wouldn't prevent me from staying here again.

It'll do. Nothing to rave about. Minimal amenities. Small coffee pot in lobby in AM was about it. Rooms weren't bad but a number of window seals are broken so you get wonky views. Old school tv system. Found items previous guest obviously left in the room before so not the most confident it was cleaned great. Beds are hard as a rock with even flatter dead pillows to boot.

First of all, you'd be wise to ignore the Hotels.com page for the Nolitan Hotel. Look, they need to do what they need to do, which is to make the property look fabulous, exciting, up to date. To be fair, it is none of those things.However, it is charming, good-enough, with many things to make it a good pick. Let's get the "challenges" out of the way for those who want a legit 4+ -star hotel experience so they can keep scrolling. There are no ice machines, no bar or restaurant in the hotel proper. There is a restaurant "(Italian-Japanese fusion ?) but they seem to open and close when they want. We've been here almost a week and have not lucked out yet. The hallways are dark, the rooms are small, no coffee makers or luggage stands in the room, the towels are standard terry cloth, and the lobby has a single pot of coffee beginning at 6 am. It's fair to say that they have made an attempt to make the rooms seem vintage, but with a weird conglomeration of stuff in the rooms. The Hotels.com rating is 3.5 stars. That's fair, but the Nolitan Hotel is more than that when everything about this hotel is taken into consideration, which I'm guessing are the reasons you are looking at this Lower East Side, Nolita area and not Midtown, Tribeca or the Theater District. ||We were here for a week, over the Thanksgiving holiday. Here are the main three things that recommend this hotel: location, location, location. In many ways, these neighborhoods are the history of New York, and where early immigrants from 1850 settled, with Irish, Germans, Jews, and Italians families. Literally blocks away are Mulberry Street and Little Italy, and the largest Chinatown in the Western Hemisphere. From the hotel, stroll down any street and you'll find unique shops, restaurants, and bars.||The staff at the hotel are friendly and accommodating. Fresh ice was delivered to our room whenever we asked. I am an admitted history nerd and foody-ish, so we have been happy all week long. We also opted for a very cool option, which is a room with a small, narrow balcony, but fresh air and the hum (sometimes loud) of the city is immediately available. One more plus is the Bowery subway station maybe 300 feet from the hotel, and so Central Park, the Midtown West, and Battery Park are all a loud, sometimes apprehensive ride away.||You can't tell a book by it's cover.

I almost canceled my reservation after reading some of these reviews but I am so glad I didn't. For the money, you can't beat this hotel. Perfect location, friendly staff, and the room is fine. Clean, comfortable, and it least trying to be chic. Convenient to Soho, E. Village, Chinatown, and F, J, or 6 trains. Thai, Sushi and great pizza right outside the door. Have I stayed in 'nicer' rooms? Absolutely. But this location, at this price point? Great stay.

I recently returned to The Nolitan having stayed there a couple of times previously.|I was excited to be visiting with my daughter, having told her how amazing it was.|The hotel is very tired and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The Nolitan is in desperate need of refurbishing.|The fantastic vibe I experienced in earlier stays has disappeared. |The bedside lamp wasn’t working and in spite of asking for this to be fixed on the second morning of our stay and being told that an engineer would attend to it the next morning, it wasn’t done (we were there for 8 nights) |On one occasion the room wasn’t serviced and when we discovered this we were told it was too late for it to be done as the housekeeper was finishing at 5pm.|There used to be a happy hour in the foyer which was lots of fun. Still using Covid as an excuse for this no longer happening. I feel like many corners have been cut as a cost saving. We were unable to access the rooftop to take in the views at night apparently due to construction. No sign of any construction. I suspect this is a convenient excuse.|The hotel is very expensive for what is provided now.|I have asked for a receipt to be emailed 3 times, but I’m still waiting.|I wouldn’t stay again in the future and certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

If it wasn’t for the absolutely terrible service I had when I arrived to this hotel very late at night, it would be a top star rating. The night concierge was so rude and literally scoffed at me, and shouted at me from the back, and made me feel terrible. I had prepaid a lot of nights, but when I arrived my card declined. It was the middle of the night so I couldn’t call my bank. I said I would of course solve it first thing come morning (which I did!). I don’t think that calls for straight up rude and unpleasant behaviour from his side. My stomach hurt the day after, with just the thought of having to face him again, but luckily a new, and much nicer person was behind the counter and we solved it with no problem.

Fantastic experience staying at Nolitan Soho this week. The highlights: 1. Efficient check in - in total from when I arrived in the lobby to when I got my room card was 1 minute, probably less, which is so nice after long travels 2. Friendly staff at the front desk - not only at check in but also whenever you come in and out, they always greet you with a smile 3. Clean and spacious room - very clean, with good amenities and thoughtful decoration 4. Central location - a few steps from everything (convenience stores, restaurants, shopping) Only small issue was the elevator being slow one afternoon but the staff fixed it quickly. Highly recommend!

0/10 would not recommend to my worst enemy. If you like hotels that are remotely nice with decent staff and in a good area.. this is not it. The photos of the rooms are misleading- the sink and shower have mold lining them and the walls have paint peeling and dirt on the molding. It is not well kept and very minimal. I returned one day with a large package and had the two men at the front desk stare and watch as I struggled to open the front door. I have never received such poor service before. My mini bar was also not stocked as it should’ve been… the details matter and this place doesn’t have them. Also NOISY! Obviously it’s New York but I could hear everything in the hallways as well as outside. My balcony door was also broken and the handle came off :)

Excellent location but hotel is lacking in value. It seems I should have looked at Yelp reviews instead of Booking.com reviews because a lot of other reviewers are echoing the same concerns. Their management team will not respond to your concerns. My sister and I stayed at your hotel from Jan 24th-Jan 29th. While your staff was welcoming and kind, your rooms were not so much. 1. Lack of hot water in both the shower and the tub - this was a bummer, as we booked the corner king to enjoy the nice tub but the water was lukewarm on the best night and cold water every other night. The shower temperatures were just as inconsistent. 2. WiFi not working. We actually told your staff about this issue, but unfortunately the wifi wasn't fixed until our last day came around (which is kind of useless). 3. Your ventilation system was terrible - we smelled weed during the entirety of our stay. We have nothing against it, but the strong weed smell really affected my sister. Again, your staff were nice but the lack of hot water, wifi not working (when we both need the internet for work) and your ventilation system would make us hesitate to recommend your hotel to family and friends in the future.

$40.16 "Hotel Service Charge". Cut it out with the hidden fees. Everyone hates it. Just stop.

If you're looking for a fashionable boutique as advertised look elsewhere. The room I stayed in on June 5th 2024 was an upgrade from a hostel or at best a Portland motel. The price for this hotel is way out wack for what you get. Stay at The Standard instead and get the real thing for a few bucks more. This hotel should be catering to students or backpackers not professionals in the entertainment and fashion industry. Towel carts and towls in the middle of the hallways at night, unkept and the best surpise is a larger plastic letter on your room desk warning you that tampering with smoke alarm is punishable by 6 months in jail or $500 fine. This is motel quality disguising as a boutique hotel! Stay away unless you have a backpack and water bottle.

I travel to NYC regularly for business. Our team selected the hotel because it was close to our working location. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Close to the best spots in Soho. Otherwise, wouldn't recommend it. NO hot water. Everyone of us staying at the hotel had to run our water for 10-20 minutes to get it warm. My in room phone didn't work. My TV only worked if I punch the numbers directly without a guide. When it was time to head to the airport, they offered a car service $20 less than Uber and told me it would arrive in 10 minutes. 45 minutes later, it still hadn't showed up. Had to call an Uber and likely not to make my flight now. WORST HOTEL IN NYC!

Downgrading my review to a 1 out of 5 stars because I never heard back from anyone at the hotel - despite emailing and posting on Yelp. Really disappointed that the customer service wasn't better or fairer.

For complete transparency, I have copied one of the same messages that I wrote to the general manager below. The situation that took place was more important for me to address as a personal matter, than to write a public review. However, after multiple attempts to communicate with this hotel, there has been no response and here I am months later bringing this public to help someone else to not fall victim as this could've been worse. Hello Mr. Bogdan, The situation should not be overlooked as the outcome to the events could have ended differently. Below is a synopsis of what took place. My room number were the event took place was 608. 1. On Thursday, July 22, 2021 just after 6pm the phone to my room began to ring. I did not answer the call. 2. Shortly after, there was a knock on the door, and a female identified herself through the door as "room service". I informed her that I did not order room service and she said ok. The peephole was blocked from the outside and I was unable to see out the door. 3. About a minute later, there was a knock on the door again, this time, she asked for a first name of an individual named Kashim, which was a name other than my own. I told her it was the wrong room. By this time I was very scared. This is a secured, key elevator access hotel, no one should be able to enter the guests' floor without a key to the elevator or without being escorted after given permission. 4. I called the front desk and in which Isaac answered, and I told him of the events that took place in 1-3. He told me that they just sent my friends up to see me. I let him know that I did not have any friends coming to visit me and no one knows where I am located as I never told anyone where I was staying and I was travelling from out of town. 5. When I looked out my balcony, there were two ladies standing across the street in dark shades and mask looking up at the location of my room. They proceeded to get a seat at the table of the restaurant there, outside on the sidewalk, and continued to stake out the room. 6. Isaac informed me that he would go speak with them, and he did. Some time had past since he left them, and so I called the front desk again. He answered and said that there was someone staying prior to my stay with the same last name as mine in the exact same room. 7. I was very scared and I did not want to leave my room or the hotel as I did not know if anyone would hurt or attack me in my coming or going. I asked him if I can speak with them so that I can clear my identity so they wouldn't want to hurt me. He escorted me to them and the ladies said they were only trying to surprise someone for their birthday who had the same last name as mine. After I went back to my room, the ladies where long gone and they never ate at the restaurant. THIS WAS A BREACH OF MY PRIVACY, THE HOTEL SHOULD NEVER GIVE ANYONE MY NAME OR IDENTITY. 8. The next day when I was checking out, I spoke with the manager on duty. She said she had to check the cameras as no one informed them of the incident of the night prior. She checked and told me that she saw the girls on the camera and let me know that someone would follow up with me. She did inform me that from the outside, no one would know what room to look for, unless they were told. I do not take this event lightly, and this is a serious matter that needs to be followed up on. I do not know if the story about the last guest of the same room having the same last name as mine is true, and even so, NO ONE should be allowed to my room in this secured hotel unless I gave permission. I did not open the door, but if I did, I do no know what would have happened to me. I only heard one voice, but their were two ladies and they proceeded to stake out the room. I was so shaken up and scared. When the front desk called my room, why did they proceed to send the two ladies up to my room after I did not answer? Where they coming to rob my room? What would they have done to me if I would have actually opened the door? The girls were given my last name and my privacy rights were violated. Hotels take their guest experienced very seriously, and I don't know why this incident was swept under the rug. No one from the hotel has contacted me to date. Thank you for your time and concern to this matter. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks, LADIES ALWAYS BOOK A ROOM FOR TWO AND NO MATTER HOW SECURED IT IS, DO YOUR BEST TO NEVER LET A HOTEL FEEL THAT YOU ARE THERE ALONE. ALSO, ALWAYS MAKE IT A HABIT TO LOCK YOUR ROOM DOOR EVERY TIME IN THE DAY AND NIGHT.

Have stayed here many times. Usually book here or 2 others nearby depending on price that weekend (our damages for 2 nights were only $480). We like the location. Staffing is good. Of course you will be in a very small but efficient "modern" room. Have a free happy hour every night which is lively (we were out those times). They have gratis continental breakfast every morning - coffee, juices, fruit, and some pastries. Not gourmet but you save quite a few $s compared to nearby eateries. However, the eating area can be quite packed. Overall a good lodging although we had a burned out light and the shower had developed mold. Check them out.

I spent 6 days at the Nolitan hotel in July 2017. Its a cute small boutique hotel in Soho close to Chinatown and Little Italy. Pros: ~My room had a balcony. A BALCONY!!!! And one facing Kenmare Street too. I LOVED having this and we spent a lot of time out there. ~The location is incredible. So convenient to go anywhere. ~There's a beautiful rooftop. ~They offer a small breakfast of drip coffee, oj and pastries in the morning. ~The Butchers Daughter is across the street. Hands down the best hotel in NYC. Despite living in NYC, we love doing staycations here. Prime location, great rates, clean rooms, great attention to detail, comfortable amenities and top notch hospitality. I really can't say enough good things about the service here. The entire team took such incredible care of us on our last stay. Thankyouthankyouthankyou from the bottom of our hearts. I'm not sure who the General Manager/Front desk manager is, but you have an incredible team of professionals whom you've trained very well. You should be so proud. Also, I highly recommend booking one of the king corner suites with the tub. It's amazing.

The hotel condition is OK, the location is great for walking to Chinatown, Little Italy and an assortment of shops and restaurants. The "on request" housekeeping left something to be desired, however. I had to ask on two consecutive mornings for them to change the linen that originally had been paired with feather down pillows (which they did remove upon request) . The first linen request went ignored after my first night there, leaving me congested again after the second night's sleep. They finally changed it out for my third night. World of difference.

This is advertised as a boutique hotel near Soho with roof top bar. We arrived to the roof top being closed for renovations and a hotel room where you have to run the bathtub for 5 minutes in order to get hot water to the shower. Once that happens there is only enough hot water for a quick shower which turns luke warm. At $800 dollars per night this is a complete ripoff. I would highly recommend staying elsewhere!

Its my first time here, I chose this because its 4 star hotel and the pictures were good but in fact, its opposite with the pictures. For me i think its not that clean. Size of room is small as usual hotels in new york. However, the persons who work at the lobby, he is quite friendly and handful. But in the morning i met a black lady whom she said she's manager, she is not nice at all. she doesnt want to explain anything I asked and dont have service mind. Anyway it might be my first and last time here. 3 stars i give for the location. Its close to many places. But the parking garage one that they deal with the hotel was about 3 blocks away for $39 from $44.

Location, location, location! Outstanding breakfast? Literally right around the corner (Egg Shop). Outstanding matcha latte? 2 blocks away (Cha-Cha Matcha). Outstanding cafe? One block over (Cafe Grumpy). Outstanding Mexican restaurant? 3 blocks away (La Esquina, bottom floor). I wanted a room w a view, & boy did I get one! I could see the Empire State Building from my bathtub! Corner unit, top floor. It's a nice size; large by NYC standards. Very hip & modern. The Nolitan wins for location (Little Italy), concierge (Gustavo, who was fabulous), & mini bar/snack bar. So many goodies! Yoga mat? They've got you covered. I wanted to buy one for home, but so didn't want to deal w checking it in on the plane. Sigh. I really should have shipped it. Everything you could possibly want to eat & drink is within walking distance. It just doesn't get much better than that. I stayed in 3 different hotels during my 9 day trip because I wanted to experience different neighborhoods. But, I'm seriously considering only staying in Little Italy on my next trip. This area is just that great. I'm knocking off a star for the cleanliness factor. It wasn't unclean per se, just average. Location is 5 stars. The hotel gets 4.

I came here for valentines day with my girlfriend and we stayed from the 14th-16th. Firstly, I just want to give a big SHOUTOUT to Jason for making the booking process smooth and easy. He was amazing at helping me plan out this excellent Valentine's day weekend. When booking, I got the romance package which came with a bottle of champagne (Prosecco), chocolate strawberries, and flowers leading to the bed saying "I love you". We had excellent timing so the room would be ready and the champagne would still be cold. The hotel room is alittle on the small side but extremely cozy. It had a rustic new age atmosphere, the texture of wood and cream color- it was very tasteful. We had a balcony room which was very nice and had a bench to sit on which was amazing and very convenient. Also to set the mood, the shower is see through with a curtain for privacy if wanted (way to set the mood!). Because we came during covid, you have to put your trash in the hallway but they do clean it up in a timely manner. Overall experience is a 10 out of 10.

For the price you can't beat the Nolitan. Overall impression: hip, modern, quiet. SUPER-friendly service from the moment we walked in. Nice touches: sexy sunken parlour room in the lobby has tons of board games, daily papers and coffee-table books, perfect for lounging if it rains or whatever. Cold lemon-water dispenser and free self-serve popcorn in the lobby were also appreciated :) Room was small (but that's NYC for ya) but very clean and modern, with a see-through shower, viewable from bed ;) and a balcony too (I smoke so this was great). Walk north from here on Mott, Elizabeth, Mulberry or Lafayette (each street heads north to Houston) for adorable lil shops and cafes...Nolita is a cute neighbourhood! We enjoyed our stay here.

Manager that was on the job was rude. It felt unwelcoming. Understand about covid but if we're checking out at 11 but want to grab breakfast where do we put our luggage? Been to a hotel in Philly called the Kimpton as well as the Rockaway hotel all during covid and they checked in our luggage. They should put this in the disclaimer before you book a hotel room. We also asked for a high room but were given a small corner room on the second floor that looked like a college dorm. And she didn't let us know only after she ran through our card. They did upgrade us only after we complained. Which was $15 more which she could've told us before she checked us in. We would've gone with a higher floor. As New Yorkers we wanted a chilled out staycation while supporting our city during this difficult time. Just disappointing all around. Also this is my first ever review on yelp. I never complain about anything but this was a waste of our time.

What a beautiful little boutique hotel!! We wandered in off the street this past Saturday night just to check it out and were greeted by a warm and wonderful front desk staff who even offered us a glass of wine and allowed us to see the incredible rooftop!!! Would definitely stay here!!

I wish I could add another row of five more pretty red stars, because these people hit it out of the park. Far, far beyond my expectations. I just can't say enough good things about the Nolitan, but I'm about to try. First, they rescued us from being left "homeless" by an AirBnB host who wouldn't address a door that threatened to lock us out if we left the apartment. Sherieka was wonderful on the phone and offered us a better rate than Trivago.com. Once we got there, they let us check in early, gave us an orientation to the neighborhood, and proceeded to generally treat us like royalty. The next morning, Sherieka and Michael chatted with me over breakfast in the lobby and gave me lots of recommendations for what and how to do NYC, including using the subway. Theirs are the only two names I have, but everyone there was gracious, professional, and helpful, including the evening clerk who poured me a glass of wine to enjoy up on the roof. The rooms are gorgeous, sleek and modern without feeling cold or austere, and the beds are comfortable in the extreme; only because there was so much to do and so little time did I not want to spend more time there. The building is insulated well enough that outside noise is minimal, and there was absolutely none from inside. The lobby is spacious with lots of comfortable chairs, the background music is great, and there's a great selection of reading material; all of which made an hours-long Saturday downpour more relaxing than frustrating. Also in the lobby are four complementary bikes, skateboards (!) and a supply of umbrellas.When we stayed, their restaurant was temporarily closed, but continental breakfast in the lobby is above average: fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, really good granola, and pastries. And as one last wonderful amenity, they have a car service to LaGuardia for $55 including tip, and watched our luggage after checkout until time to leave. We left with hugs from Sherieka, knowing our next trip to NYC will be timed for when the Nolitan has a room for us.

Pros: + cozy, classy, and stylish + nice open balcony + great location within walking distance of soho, Chinatown, and little Italy + excellent amenities: free wifi and printing, attentive/helpful front desk, lovely rooftop view, happy hour M-Sa, free gym + decently priced + new facilities Cons: - tough to book rooms - on the small side (but minimal/modern design totally opens up the space)

the balcony is the best thing about this hotel. without the balcony i'd probably give it 2 stars. the tv was old and only had shitty cable. no netflix or anything like that. there's a mini fridge which was nice but no microwave :((( the shower was already but not the best water pressure. also one of the people at the front desk openly said they don't wear a mask unless they're at work and they didn't even have their mask up when they were talking to us so this place hires anti maskers

The front desk staff clearly needs to be retrained. We called ahead for early check in and when we arrived we told our room wasn't ready. We came back at normal check in time and the room still wasn't ready. They were rude with any questions we had. And finally when it came time to check out the staff doesn't know how to work the computer system and rather than explain to me what's going on while holding my money in his hand he's talking to he person next to him and got mad when I asked what was going on. The rooms were spacious but the whole experience was ruined by the incompetent front desk staff.

Rooms are small but that's to be expected in Manhattan. To save $$, I shared a room with a King-size bed with a friend. Clean, and I do appreciate the sleek industrial design, but some of the furnishings and fixtures - especially in the bathroom - are showing wear and tear. Nothing horrible, just lacking the polish and look they might have had several years ago. Also we could have used one or two more towels - they were just a bit stingy with the existing ones. Bed was comfortable. We weren't able to get a room with a balcony, because we wanted a King size bed, which wasn't available in rooms with balconies. The balcony might well have enhanced our visit a bit. Service is very friendly but maybe needs to step up a bit - I shouldn't have to call downstairs to get the Wifi info - ! And I wish I had been told from the get-go that Nolitan guests have access to the 24-hour gym nearby. I would have taken advantage of that. There is a complimentary continental breakfast served in the small but very pleasant lobby (maybe since the restaurant isn't currently open). The sunny, sunken seating area of the lobby - stuffed with shelves of art books, was a great place to get some coffee, carrot juice, etc before I truly started my day. And I am grateful that both soy and almond milk were provided since I'm vegan. Finally - the location CAN"T BE BEAT! Nolita and Soho are so popular now, and the range of amazing shops, restaurants and bars nearby is so great. And like so much of Manhattan it's convenient to subway lines.

Perfect place to stay if you want to go to the Met or down to Twin Tower Memorial. Comfortable room, everything you need and very helpful staff! Bed was comfortable and accommodations just perfect! Thanks for relaxing stay!

Stayed here this weekend just for a fun trip into the city. The staff was very nice and the lobby and building were pretty, modern, and interesting. We stayed on the ninth floor, easily accessible from the elevator. Our room was very cute (looks like all the photos posted). We had a view of kenmare street from our window/balcony which is a view..but not a particularly interesting view. The room had a glassed in shower (with a curtain outside when needed) and an open sink area. The toilet had its own room. It definitely needed artwork or something cause while modern, the toilet room was kind of stark and prisony with no natural light, no light dimmer. Basically it was hard to use it in the middle of the night without blinding yourself, ok? Overall, no real issues with the room. Service was friendly, though only slightly lacking, hence the 4 star rating. On Friday, we called down for some non-bottled water (like a carafe, a pitcher, a glass?) as the tap water was very cloudy and there are no water or ice machines on the floor. We called down, they said they'd send up a pitcher, nothing ever came. Really? Guess they just forgot...? Similarly, the downstairs bar closed around midnight and was closed to the public on Saturday. Rooms also have no coffee machines, nor was there any coffee in the lobby or anything. I mean, I know this hotel is nicer than your standard holiday inn, but at least you get coffee and a mini muffin. This hotel did offer a 5-7 complimentary cheese and wine happy hour...

I stayed here for a business trip and unfortunately we were only here for about 12 hours, but I would definitely come back. The customer service was amazing! The front desk staff were very quick, friendly and funny when we checked in and out. After we checked out, I hung out in the lobby to do work for a couple hours. The manager was so helpful- he took my bag so I didn't have to worry about it if I needed to run somewhere and he also checked in occasionally to make sure I was doing good. There were little touches that made my stay stand out. When I first got to the room, music was playing from the clock/radio, they had slippers for the guests to use (not reusable, that would be gross), they use Aveda products and they offer a directory that has every topic covered. The rooftop has an amazing view! Definitely check it out if you stay. There's only 2 things that I would recommend: putting ear plugs in each room. I was on the 3rd floor and the street was very loud and having a coffee maker in the room. These two things are huge and the other aspects of the hotel more than make up for it!

Fabulous hotel. Great staff, happy hour for guests, and muffins/coffee in the morning. It had a very boutique feel in the heart of NoLita, close to little Italy and Chinatown, tons of great restaurants near by. The room was clean and bright, but a bit small. We had a corner room, recommended. Bathroom is a little awkward but they have made good use of space. Recommend!

So... I was supposed to stay at the Nolitan for a total of three nights, but I ended up staying for only two. What had happened was that the hotel ended up overbooking, so what that meant for me is that I was ferried off to another hotel (the Soho Grande) for the first night of my stay. I'm not gonna lie. I. WAS. PISSED. OFF. While the Soho Grande is very nice, I don't think anybody wants to plan their vacation around checking in and out of hotels. The young man working at the front desk was very pleasant and i got the feeling he'd drawn the short straw and that was why he had to break the bad news to me. I suspect he was just as happy to deliver the bad news as i was to receive it and he'd had some bad experiences cause he looked liked he expected me to blow up at him. I think i managed to hide my annoyance pretty well but damn was i disappointed. They comp-ed my stay at the soho grande but I'm not sure i want to stay here again because i wasnt very happy to unpack more than once on my vacation.

This is heaven on earth. I'm a young artist, and this hotel felt like the home I've dreamed of all my life. The views took my breath away, and then I went to the roof and forgot how to breathe entirely. This is the most beautiful hotel in New York. As if the views and amazing decor aren't good enough, the staff are incredible. They're very interested in your life and you in general. They are the friendliest and sweetest hotel staff I've ever encountered, and anyone who chooses to go to another hotel is insane.

Modern, hip, warm, filled with a mix of wood and industrial decor. This hotel is a great place to stay if you want to be in a good location in Manhattan. They have helpful staff and their doors are always open. They have a free happy hour at 5pm every day with wine, champagne, and cheese. It is located a couple blocks from little Italy. If you stay here I suggest going to Black Seed for breakfast and Cafe Fiat for lunch/dinner. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because some of the staff weren't as friendly as they could have been. They don't have coffee pots in the room so I asked if they had a coffee pot or a tea kettle to make tea. They brought me a tea kettle, but they weren't happy about it. Aside from that l, they always wished us well on our way out for the day and welcomed us when we came back to the hotel at night. Overall I highly suggest starting here.

Nice rooms, with a Awesome bathtub in the room. Very different concept! By far the roof top is the best attractive of the hotel, you get a perfect view of the NY skyline Located in Soho, near the shopping and little Italy restaurants with the (LES) lower east side bars! Only negative is the wifi not so great and the plugs in the room are not in the right places, you end up having to leave your phone on the floor to charge, that really doesn't make any sense in 2016

On my 14th trip to New York, I stayed at this very cool and hip hotel in NoLIta on my second night there. This is by far my most favorite hotel in NY. I have always preferred the Soho/NoLIta locations over Midtown (character vs. convenience). However, when I initially planned this trip back in July, the nightly rate for this hotel was in the $400 range (a little high in my opinion considering I was travelling alone) so I "settled" for The Gotham in Midtown. I was overjoyed when a deal came up on jetsetter.com weeks before my travel date as the Nolitan was my top choice from the very beginning. Naturally, I cancelled my reservation at The Gotham and booked my 2nd night stay at the Nolitan. The hotel is just over a year old. It was designed by the LEED accredited architectural firm Grzywinski+Pons and LEED concepts are evident throughout the hotel - ceiling fans, wide range of temperature control and lighting options, use of health and environmental conscious NY-based brand Red Flower for its bath amenities, etc. Other things I love about the hotel are: STYLE - hip and stylish in an understated and minimalist way, without being over the top (as in Mondrian Soho, where I stayed the first night) HOTEL CROWD - none of the loud partying type when I was there (again, unlike the Mondrian Soho); there was a wine-drinking crowd in the lobby upon my return from a late dinner and no one seemed overly loud or behaving inappropriately PERSONAL TOUCHES - free use of bike, in-room yoga mats in closet, free pass to the gym, free use of umbrella in closet, turndown service in the evening (sweet lady knocked on my door in the evening asked if I needed turndown service and provided me with a package of NY handcrafted macaroons); slippers are provided (especially important for a germophobe like me) OPEN BATHROOM PLAN - creates the illusion of open space in small sized NY hotel rooms; brighter than your usual claustrophobic NY hotel bathrooms CLEANLINESS - everything is spotless and neat LOCATION - within walking distance to many of my favorite shopping spots in Soho (Uniqlo, one amongst many...) and late night eateries in Chinatown and Little Italy (very helpful since I was there the night before Hurricane Sandy paid a visit to NY, and I was able to walk to Nyonya, which was still open for dinner at 8) BALCONY - I booked the smaller sized neighborhood balcony room on the lower floors so there was no city view but it was still nice to sit out and relax and watch the acitivity on the streets in this interesting neighborhood The only two minor complaints I have are: Loud fans - the light switch and fan in the toilet room (separate from the shower and sink areas) are combined as a single switch and the fan was super loud, probably designed that way so you will not want to keep the lights on longer than you need (LEED concept?!) Rainfall showerhead - I love rainfall showerheads but the angle of this one seemed a little too close to the attached shower caddy so it was somehow difficult to experience the full benefit of the rainfall pressure Despite the loud fans and showerhead issues, I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again next time I am in NY (and hopefully soon)!

I love the location of this hotel. You can literally just step out your hotel and wander and discover all the boutiques and restaurants. Located on the corner of Elizabeth & Kenmare, you are just steps away from Soho, Nolita, LES, East Village, Chinatown, and Little Italy. The hotel itself is a clean quiet boutique hotel at a value price, with excellent staff, and an amazing little restaurant downstairs. It's small enough that you'll get to know the entire staff before you leave. The rooms tend to be a little small here, but not unusual for downtown. I believe some of the standard rooms come with a balcony, which i would recommend. 4 stars for friendly attentive service and hotel itself 1 additional star for location + price

Oh the Nolitan... how you have a special place in my heart. I stayed there back in August for work and had the most pleasant hotel experience I could have imagined. When I'm traveling to NYC for work, hotels can be a bit mundane, over-crowded with tourists and the staff unfriendly. You won't find any of that here at the Nolitan. My initial reaction when I arrived was "Whoa, this place is in the middle of a shady neighborhood." Yep, Nolita. It's between SoHo, Chinatown and Little Italy... little did I know that this was the jackpot for me. Once I was back at the hotel after a day of office meetings, I could walk to great SoHo shoppes, eat at some of the most delectable places in Little Italy, and score the perfect knock-off in Chinatown :D Upon entering, I met one of the friendliest staffs ever-- from doorman to check-in to concierge, I felt welcomed and almost like family. I love making it know that I'm in from Texas when I travel...these folks definitely made their "Southern" hospitality known to me and my guest (my best friend flew up with me). The Nolitan, itself is the epitome of modern elegance meets industrial minimalism. It's as much clean, bright and sophisticated as it is cozy and nostalgic. The sunken entrance is inviting with books to grab off the shelf and skateboards for which to take advantage at no charge. There's also bikes you can borrow as well as free access to the Equinox gym off of Prince Street (which we definitely hit up!) My room was clean--small--but definitely inviting. I liked the use of space in such small square footage-- open glass shower door to the bedroom to let in light from the big bay window, and hidden compartment-like toilet area (seriously, I was initially confused that my room didn't have a toilet haha). The decor is modern European minimalist, the bed a serious haven of comfy sheets and a melt-like-butter cashmere throw. I had a city-view room, which I adored...waking up to a side of the city that I'd never seen before. If you can splurge, get the corner room--I hear it's seriously awesome. I think the main reason I'd come back over and over--despite the pricey reservation--is the staff. You guys were amazing and I can't wait to come back and hug your necks! This Texas gal is ready for a repeat Nolitan performance!

Personally, I'm perfectly fine with the modest hotels along the edges of Chinatown, or in the middle of it, for that matter. But after a run-in with bedbugs last trip, my wife put her foot down. So we gave the Nolitan a try. I tend to be biased against boutique hotels as being all attitude, but the folks at the Nolitan are friendly and sincere. The little things are a nice touch; real glass wine glasses in your room, art books and boardgames in the lobby. The location is hard to beat; five minutes walk from Soho, seven from Chinatown, and literally across the street from the hipster shopping (and restaurants) on Elizabeth. As someone else noted, Kenmare is a feeder for the Williamsburg Bridge, so if you're a light sleeper you may want to keep that in mind. It didn't bother me, but then again, I live under the flight path of a small regional airport (I find the sound of jets soothing). If you can, request an upper floor balcony room. The view at night is fantastic, you can see the lit tops of the Empire State Building and the Chrysler in the distance. Yeah, that's kind of touristy, but it is NYC after all. If that kind of thing doesn't give you pleasure, you may as well go to Indianapolis instead.

There are three things that I look for in an NYC hotel... 1. Cleanliness - no bedbugs please! 2. Location - close to subway stations, safe to walk at 3am, etc. 3. Comfy ass sheets. ;) The Nolitan may have lacked a bit on the "comfy ass sheets" department for me, but it was clean and right in the middle of a great location. I only stayed here for one night, but wish I had stayed for the entire duration of my trip. We were steps away from shopping in SOHO, good eats in Chinatown and Little Italy, and there was a subway station close by that could get us anywhere in 10 - 15 mins. If you prefer the non-touristy, local feel of NYC, the Nolitan is the place for you. The Nolitan also has a few extra amenities that are pretty awesome. Take advantage of what they have to offer! - Free Bike, skateboard, laptop/ipad, video game console rentals. - Gym passes and Yoga mat in the closet. - Pet friendly!

I'm so glad I found this awesome hotel. They run the hotel like I run my cab company, full service and going above my expectations at every possible moment. The building. It's a brand new building. Quiet and smooth elevators. Awesome balconies. Comfy beds. Awesome showers. We stayed in a neighborhood suite on the 4th floor and noise was not an issue at all. Also the heating/cooling did work! Got to our desired temperature very quickly. There is a great iPhone doc that charges your phone and produced excellent sound. Also there is a fridge! The Staff Everyone was soooo friendly and professional. I mentioned it was my girlfriend and I's 1 year anniversary at the time of booking and around 6pm our first night they sent up a complimentary bottle of champagne. They also went door to door around the same time giving coconut macaroons with a nice note. I really couldn't think of any way the staff could be more accommodating. Extras It was raining when we arrived so it was great to find an umbrella already in the room for our use. The complimentary soaps and shampoos looked to be from a local company in NYC and smelled amazing, so guys, your ladies will enjoy that. They have bikes you can borrow to check out the city but it was gloomy weather both days and not good for biking. They also have RFID room keys. So no stumbling around with swiping a room key card, just stick it in your wallet and swipe it past the door!! Location Perfect! Next time we are visiting I want to stay here again. It's about a 5 minute walk that will take you to the B train which gets you to Times Square, and of course you can easily transfer to any other train in the city, all for just over $2. Never even took a taxi the whole time except for getting back to our bus to go to DC. From those trains we went to the 9/11 memorial, Central Park and a few other places. Even better was the awesome neighborhoods your in, Chinatown and Soho. You could spend a month exploring these 2 places alone. I highly recommended staying here, if you do, send me a message of a cool place to check out in the area for our next stay here. One last tip, go to the rooftop. There is nothing up there for now but open space but you have one of the best views of the city, almost a 360 view. We went up a few times just to take it all in. This place is awesome. It's boutique in the best way and the customer service is great. A woman came by my room in the early evening to ask if I needed anything and gave me some chocolates. Little things like this count to me. The restaurant and small bar are quaint and designed well, as is the entire hotel. My room was small, but normal by NYC standards. But who cares, you're in NYC! Go explore. The views from the rooms are amazing! I was on the 9th floor looking north with and the Empire State building was right in front of me. I will definitely be back. The LES is my favorite part of NYC and the Nolitan is right in the heart of it all. Highly recommended.

A lovely, hip little boutique hotel with the friendly staff that this business traveler wants when you're on the road as much as I am. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: - Corner room was spacious, clean, and well equipped. The bed made for a perfect night's rest. - Love the hardwood floors in the rooms. Having stayed right before in a different hotel, I was glad to not be wondering who many dead skin cells were in my room's carpet. - Evening wine and cheese happy hour was a perfect pre-martini stop before leaving for a real cocktail. - The front desk staff (love, you Joy) was delightful, helpful, and welcoming. - Dog-friendly. Seeing little ones in the lobby made me homesick, and I'll plan on bringing my girl Lucy next time. Cons (and these are picky ones): - No coffee maker in the room might work for those who could wait for the breakfast setup at 7:00 AM, but with my early meetings, that was not possible. The front desk staff found me a cup at 6:00 AM, but an in room coffee maker would take that need away. - No handshower in the shower. The tub had one, but a rainforest head alone will not appropriately clean one's nooks and crannies. - No restaurant yet on site, but their are plenty of places in walking distance to dine nicely. - The glass corner walls get COLD in the Winter. Drawing the curtains helps, but seems to defeat the purpose of a frosted glass corner room. I'll definitely stay here at the Nolitan again, and why not? It was like a bit of home away from home.

Believe the reviews. Just stayed at the Nolitan over the weekend (Fri-Sun) and the hotel/staff/location/service/etc. were as good as advertised, or as good as the reviews indicate. I have made several refundable reservations leading up to our weekend in NYC, and eliminated/cancelled the reservations as I read reviews on tripadvisor. As the date for our trip approached, I figured I would take a chance on the Nolitan since it didn't have as many reviews and was not in the areas we have stayed before. However, I am very glad we stayed here. The location was perfect, no more than a 5-10 minute subway ride to the heart of the city, but there really isn't a reason to leave the area for food/drinks. There are lots of great restaurants and bars in the area, a great nightlife. The views from the hotel balcony was amazing, could see the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building, and at night they were beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the amenities they offer are great. FREE internet, laptop/iPad rental, skateboard and bike rental. In addition, each night they came by and gave us chocolate and a weather card indicating the weather for the next day. The ONLY issue is that I had ordered an "extra" at the time of booking, and this was not fulfilled; however, the hotel immediately cancelled the associated charges, and all was fine. Next time were in NYC, we will definitely consider staying here again. UPDATE: Stayed here again, this time for 3 nights. I would echo my review above, no complaints, staff was just as friendly as the first time. This time we were given a room on the 9th floor which again provided great views of the NYC skyline and cut down on the street noise. Reading my previous review, I will say this time around we did not receive chocolates or a weather card, but we didn't really miss them either. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed again this visit (renovations again I believe; not sure though).

This place is REALLY noisy. I could hear the neighbors having sex in the next room as if I was sharing the bed with them. The rooms are tiny, but have nice minimalist design with high end fixtures and Venetian plaster. Bed is very comfortable with good linens. Kenmore street is a feeder for the Williamsburg bridge, so weekend traffic late at night/early in the morning can be quite noisy, particularly with inadequate room soundproofing. Room was kept clean with good housekeeping. Location is great for exploring Soho, Nolita and Chinatown. Staff is nice enough, but not really sincerely friendly. Will not return and do not recommend.

I haven't stay in the Nolitan, but my husband and I were inquiring about prices and amenities for a friend and Stephanie at the front desk was so helpful! She was super professional, patient, kind and was able to give us all the answers we were looking for. She suggested we check out the view of the rooftop to get a better idea of the amazing view and she directed us to the tray of goodies for refreshments. She was amazing and if all the staff is Stephanie-like, I would want to stay at the Nolitan, even though I live in the city haha!

Hotel was amazing and the service was possibly the best I've had anywhere. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and helpful. I'm not sure how they found so many genuinely nice people but it made our experience so memorable. The lobby was a bit drafty and no heaters on the roof (understandable) made the rooftop view a brief encounter during our stay in Feb. If the front desk staff was able to recommend the restaurant (eaten there) we likely would have eaten there. The room was so comfortable and designed beautifully. Love the furniture and fixtures (I wish their bathroom was my bathroom, seriously). Everything was minimalist yet elegant, and distinctly warm and inviting. Almost like they stripped out all the corporate coldness or ridiculousness that usually plagues nice hotels. Metro Bowery stop is half a block away. The hotel is on a major thoroughfare (read: city noise but is to be expected, it is a *city* afterall). Easy access to amazing and affordable restaurants and shopping. Quick version: Super laid back and yet refined. Great place to stay while in Manhattan! Will be back for sure!!

I live in Manhattan. I stay at Hotels often. This is my new favorite spot. I will be back. As often as I can! It's perfect! The vibe is chill, the staff is down to earth, the Hotel itself is gorgeous! The rooms have amazing views and a modern feel. I have NOTHING bad to say about this Hotel. I could see the skyline from my shower! I don't have that at my apartment! I could go on and on, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Hotel. It's reasonably priced for what you are getting and more than worth it! You won't be disappointed!

This place is amazing! They upgraded us to a corner suite that had tons of space and great views of the city. Huge soaking tub in the middle of the room with well designed floor to ceiling windows which still allowed for privacy. Take a soak in the tub while taking in the views of the city. Staff was attentive and accommodating. Turndown service and decent bar with great morning coffee. This place is in the heart of everything. If something is a little far to walk ( the village or Chelsea) take one of their complimentary bikes for a spin. The hotel is tastefully done and all the furnishings and accents are high quality modern, not cheap Ikea imitations. Close to the Williamsburg bridge too, so you can hop on one of their bikes and get your beard trimmed in the heart of hipsterville. We will be back for sure.

A modern, hip hotel located in one of the best "non-touristy" shopping and restaurant areas in the city! I was pleasantly surprised on my recent weekday, business-trip stay (Tu-Fri) at the Nolitan Hotel. In the past I've stayed at the Standard in Meatpacking or Ace Hotel in NoHo. Both hotels are "scenes" for New Yorkers to be scene. The Nolitan offers the same look and feel of these hotels, but without noise and chaos of late-night parties in the lobby & restaurant. ROOM: My king-size, non-balcony room was modern and clean. The bed, pillows and linens were extremely comfortable. The room included a nicely-stocked mini-bar, desk and small closet. There are no irons/ironing boards, but instead a yoga mat, slippers and bath robes.The TV receives a min. number of stations. There is no artwork in the room, instead the light fixtures and great furniture serve as the art. The bathroom was elegantly laid out with plenty of counter space and light. The oversized shower has a fun "sudo-window" to let light into the bathroom area. The high-speed wi-fi was easy to access, but pretty slow to accomplish any type of real internet work. The room was quiet and relaxing at night which is a must in NYC. Easy to control the temperature of the room. SERVICE: Overall friendly front desk staff who was willing to accommodate requests. They quickly brought up an iron/ironing board after I requested one the first night of my stay. And they offer a free Happy Hour with wine, cheese and crackers around 5pm in the lobby. While I did not use it, I loved that they offer passes to a great gym just a few blocks away. Next time I stay here I can't wait to use these passes! RESTAURANT: While the restaurant was still re-opening while I was there, they did offer a nice breakfast buffet or $12.50/person that included fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, toast, granola, coffee and juice. It was a nice start to the day to grab breakfast in the hotel before heading out. It felt very reasonably priced. They also offered to make lattes and americanos at an additional cost. LOCATION: This is what will keep me coming back to this hotel! It's one of the quickest cab rides from LGA and it's blocks away from SoHo, Little Italy and more. Fabulous coffee shops, amazing shopping and great late-night dining options (on Bowery) are just a five minute walk from the hotel! Plus plenty of access to NY's subway system, again just five - ten minutes away. It felt like the area surrounding the hotel was just starting to come alive with new restaurants and shops. My only two suggestions/thoughts about this hotel... -"High-speed internet" is extremely slow. I couldn't accomplish basic work tasks using my VPN with their slow connection. I would rather they charge me for a faster internet connection. -Currently no in-room dining options (as of 2/15/2013). Because the hotel's restaurant was in-transition/pre-opening while I was at the hotel, there was no in-room dining options. Not being familiar with the area my first night, I would have preferred to dine in my room. I wish they would have offered an alternative dining solution while the hotel was transitioning it's restaurant.

This hotel atmosphere was perfect. Great staff, perfect location in les. Breath taking views of the Williamsburg bridge and Empire State Building . Brett went Above and beyond trying to make sure the reservation was set and all our questions and concerns was answered. Even came to check up and make sure the room was set and even showed us the rooftop. I recommend this hotel for any occasions.

This boutique hotel is perfectly located for exploring the true downtown scene in NYC: Nolita, SoHo,Chinatown, Lower East Side and what little remains of Little Italy. This stretch of Kenmare St is busy in the mornings and evenings but the sound proofing in the rooms is up to the job. Two subway lines are within a 5 minute walk. As is always true in NY, space is tight, both in the lobby and the rooms themselves. However the furniture is bright and new, the bathrooms clean and well laid out. There's no sense of economizing anything but room. For a new hotel, the staff are well trained and also very pleasant. There's no room service or restaurant but the cafe next door, Bread, is fine for basic meals. Overall, a great addition to Nolita and very fairly proved against the competition
