"Glow-up of the year surely goes to the newly reopened Patterson House (well, it’s a tie with the attached Catbird Seat), now sitting pretty on the top of the Bill Voorhees building in the Gulch. What was once a moody, cigar-lounge/library-looking spot with a few booths is now a grand, sweeping room swathed in deep purple curtains. After dark, those drapes open for views of the city lights that match everything on the Manhattan menu perfectly. Then there’s the expanded food menu, with an expertly-cooked thick-cut bone-in pork chop, potato chip ice cream, and more. Patterson has officially graduated from the pre- or post-dinner spot on your date night to the main event." - ann walczak

"The Patterson House has moved into its next chapter in the Gulch. The new space in The Bill Voorhees Building carries over the dim chandelier lighting and tin roof of its old digs, while adding a big red oak bar, booths, and a new private bar room for small events and gatherings. Expect two drink menus: one bringing over 150 rotating selections of Patterson House classics, and the other showcasing nine new drinks like a mango Negroni and the jasmine sage smash." - jackie gutierrez jones 2
"The Patterson House may have recently relocated to the Bill Voorhees building in the Gulch, but rest assured, they still know how to shake ‘em up and pour ‘em out. This speakeasy-style bar was named after prohibition-fighting former Tennessee Governor Malcolm Patterson — and it continues to uphold his legacy spectacularly. Order a drink from their thoughtful menu or let one of the bartenders create something. Either way, it’s a win." - Kellie Walton
"Once upon a time, Patterson was one of the only places serving legitimate cocktails in Nashville. Even though that’s no longer the case, they’re still cranking out drinks as delicious as ever. The bar is center stage, with seating in a U-shape around it and booths against the surrounding walls. And if the bar is the stage, the spirits vie for Tonys, with their different styles highlighted in cocktails by category. (There’s even a section of cocktails dedicated to potable bitters and fortified wines.) Patterson subscribes to the speakeasy starter pack: lights that don’t go above a 2, heavy black entry curtains, and lots of wood and cigar bar vibes without the cigars. Should you need to impress, whether it be a date, someone visiting, or your tastebuds, Patterson is the place. " - ann walczak
