Michelin-Starred Kali Is Opening a Casual Seafood Spot on Melrose Avenue - Eater LA

"Mastro's, located in Beverly Hills, offers Thanksgiving side dishes like garlic mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and green beans with sliced almonds for preorder. The restaurant is open for dine-in on Thanksgiving from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., featuring their usual steakhouse menu with a special roasted turkey." - Matthew Kang

Matū Review - Beverly Hills - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"On paper, the concept of Matū is sort of absurd. This dimly-lit spot in Beverly Hills specializes in a five-course prix-fixe menu consisting of various premium wagyu beef dishes. It's an indulgence of the highest variety, and yet, when we actually dined there, we were taken aback at how toned-down and sensible the whole experience felt. For starters, the prix-fixe menu is $78. Sure, that’s a lot of money and no one should be mistaking Matū for a casual Tuesday night dinner spot, but to be eating five courses of premium meat on S. Beverly Blvd. for under $100 is a good value. Secondly, the food is excellent and coursed out in a way that doesn’t feel like a grotesque meat parade. You’ll sip clear earthy beef broth, sample thinly-sliced pieces of NY strip steak, and finish with a wood-fired ribeye and perfectly-cooked broccolini. Matū is the kind of place where celebrating something feels euphoric—whether it’s a promotion, anniversary, or simply surviving the previous month—without having to constantly check the prices." - Brant Cox

The Best Places to Get Thanksgiving Takeout in LA, 2021 Edition

"Mastro’s in Beverly Hills and Malibu has takeout family dinners that comes with raw steaks to finish at home, plus sides like salad, ready-to-bake dishes, and pecan butter cake. There’s also a three-bone prime rib version that can be finished in your home oven and comes with garlic mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and more. This is for the families that don’t like turkey." - Matthew Kang

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. What really stood out, though, was the service. Steve was exceptional , so friendly, attentive, and professional. He made sure everything was perfect and truly elevated our dining experience. Thank you for the amazing service and warm hospitality! I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to others. 👏🏼

Google
Shrimp cocktail 10/10. They were perfectly plump, fresh, and appropriately priced. The horseradish and cocktail sauce are exquisite. The lobster was also fantastic. Perfectly prepared, pricey, but given the location, fairly priced. The sides were underwhelming. The mac n cheese was oily, separated, and flavorless. The garlic mashed potatoes were very average as well. You get large portions on the sides, but the quality just isn’t there for a restaurant of this caliber. I did enjoy the mojito. It was fresh and strong. The key lime pie was delectable but their “famous” butter cake was very average. I also don’t understand why they serve a heaping bowl of whipped cream with their desserts. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable. No complaints there. The atmosphere is Beverly Hills people that are upper echelon or surely think they are upper echelon. Depending on your opinion of such people, you may either enjoy or detest such company. All that said, I would return for the shrimp cocktail and a mojito.

**Disappointed by Cleanliness and live music Overall Experience** We found this place through Google reviews and had high hopes. The restaurant looked nice, and the fresh bread was great at first, however living music was boring sorry to say that . But then I noticed a hair in the butter, which completely ruined our appetite. We told the waitress, and the manager came over to apologize — he was kind and offered to take care of it. We were about to leave, but since the food had just arrived and my friend was hungry, we decided to stay as the manager showed really want us to stay for it , so we felt bad to leave . The steak was good, but the sea bass and branzino fish were disappointing. After the hair incident, it was hard to enjoy anything. When checked out The manager gave us $90 off, we paid about $180 with tips , but honestly, that didn’t feel like enough for a place in Beverly Hills with a cleanliness issue, for my experience they should have offered way better, but we didn’t want to fight for it , we had a rush dinner and left unhappily. Waitress was nice, but the customer service wasn’t great, very bad experience , no reason to go back !

My first time here was 2017. The dazzling blue light at entrance got me high. Then I sang the song with the live band, I still remembered the song was ‘can’t take my eyes off you.’ It was a fun night. Then second time, we ordered the most expensive wine, great night. It is not about what you eat, it is more important who you are with, and the vibe is like catalyst that boosts your feeling from your all normal days. Highly suggest Mastro Beverly Hills. Sophisticated.

I celebrated my birthday at Mastro’s in Beverly Hills. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel like royalty. Everyone was so incredibly friendly, warm, and welcoming. My server Chris, went above and beyond. He didn’t just take care of me he truly made my night. You could tell he cared and made me feel celebrated. Now… the food… wow. I ordered the steak, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it made me close my eyes and smile with every bite. Just unbelievable Perfectly cooked, full of flavor. And the signature ice cream for dessert? Absolute amazing . Everything was top-tier. This wasn’t just a dinner, it was an experience. Thank you, Mastro’s, for making my birthday so unforgettable. I’ll be back, and bringing everyone I know.

Google
Great steakhouse with a classy vibe. We dined at Mastro's in Beverly Hills after it was recommended by our friends. We were able to make last-minute reservations, and the restaurant wasn't too crowded. We ordered the bread basket for the table and they brought out a fine variety of warm bread that we couldn't stop eating. We decided to share the Chef's Cut New York strip. I thought it was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The Garlic Mashed Potatoes were also very good (and a huge portion that can be shared between 3 or 4 people). Our waiter and the staff was very courteous. We ordered dessert after their closing time, and they didn't rush us at all even though we felt bad for staying late. Speaking of dessert, the Warm Butter Cake was really good. The restaurant was expensive, but that was anticipated since it's a nice steakhouse located right in Beverly Hills. A lot of people were celebrating their birthdays there and it looked like the perfect restaurant for a celebration.

Google
The portions were shockingly enormous. I couldn't believe how large the meatball appetizer, bread basket, side dishes, and cake (see pic) were. Really, they were much too large for two people of average size with average appetites. We left feeling guilty about the wasted leftovers. All that said, everything was tasty, especially the bread and the gnocchi. Our server, MoMo, was just the right amount of attentive and friendly.

Google
Love this place. One of my favorites. It's expensive but you get what you pay for. Love their Martinis - they are huge. You literally get 2. Staff are always so nice and helpful. Butter cake is amazing. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The food is good! I loved the bone marrow, carpaccio, mushrooms, and New York Wagyu. The service is above and beyond. The only thing we didn't like was an off menu item (Wagyu ribeye) that we were told was super tender, but it was half fat and tasted like fat...the waitress immediately took it away seeing our dissatisfaction. We didn't have to ask. We also appreciated getting a direct view of the live entertainment for our anniversary

Yelp
My friend and I recently dined at the Penthouse at Mastro's in Beverly Hills and had a mostly enjoyable experience, though there were a few downsides that keep this review at four stars. The food was delicious-- 22 oz. Ribeye, Tuna Tartare and Chilean sea-bass were outstanding, and the Warm Butter Cake with ice cream was as exceptional as ever. Drinks were also on point; both the Pomegranate and Dirty martinis were excellent. However, the asparagus side was a bit underwhelming. The main issue, unfortunately, was with our server, Runzer. We arrived around 9:50 pm (we had a reservation booked for a few weeks) due to my flight landing late, and it felt like we were an inconvenience for him as his last table of the night. His demeanor was blunt and unpleasant, almost as if he didn't feel like serving us, which soured an otherwise solid dining experience. The penthouse is located on the 3rd floor of the building, accessible by elevator. The dining room is medium-sized, with an upscale, intimate ambiance. Overall, while the food and atmosphere were great, I've had better service--particularly at their Washington, D.C. location, where the service was impeccable.

Yelp
I love the little extra details! It was our anniversary and they printed us our own menus. They had a musician that was playing H.E.R. songs, and she was so lovely. We ordered the French Onion soup, the Branzino, and the Japanese A5 Wagyu, and it was all excellent! The Wagyu melted in your mouth like butter! We were served a beautiful dessert as well. The wine list is extensive! No problems spotting our favs. Thank you for making our night extra special while we were in town visiting. 10/10

Yelp
I'll always come for the butter cake, alone!Surprised I've never left a review for the Penthouse as I've been a dozen times over the years. Worthy of celebrations, date nights, girl's night out, etc. Mastro's is consistent with great service. I do wish servers were more memorable but everyone that's ever provided service has been pleasant. Food is ALWAYS good. Recommend: Fresh oysters, lobster bisque, branzino, petite filet, garlic mashed potatoes, GNOCCHI, Brussel sprouts, creamed spinach, broccolini, and THE BUTTER CAKE!

Yelp
Another great dinner at Mastros Penthouse! Great service provided by Steve and Juan!!! Such great guys! Party of 9 celebrating a 60th wedding anniversary. We got there around 4:15ish and sat at the bar. Jamie took great care of us and made great drinks!!! Bar opens at 4pm and the restaurant opens at 5pm. We were seated in a beautiful room. The service here is always too notch! We requested Steve because we love him! He's very sweet and takes care of us when we come. Juan is also very sweet and polite! The food is always very yummy! We got appetizers, bread baskets, mains, sides, and dessert. Our table got a mix of steaks, sea bass, halibut, and salads. Sides were great and included crab fried rice (new to menu), scalloped potatoes, creamed spinach, creamed corn, baked potato, fries, broccolini, and I think that's it lol I love how the servers come around and ask if you'd like this or that for your sides and serve them on your plate. I love that! Thank you also to Christina in events for putting us at such a nice table/area to dine. Steve, like I said above, is just great and fun to talk to! He's attentive and kind. Thanks little pink ;-p hahahahaha

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came to celebrate by birthday. We really loved the lady singing by the piano. However, we barely ate our dinner it was not good. It was really bland and on our way home we both started to get really bad stomach pains. We both ended up really sick :/ not sure what it could have been. It happened so quick we ordered: the Bread basket, Bone in ribeye, the chefs cut strip, lobster mash potato (was really salty) , brocolini, sautéed shrimp and two drinks each. At the end they brought me a cheese cake ( wish they would have given me the butter cake that the other 3 birthday people got for their bday while we where there) my poor boyfriend ended up more sick when we got home than I did. The first floor was really empty and the penthouse was not that busy either, but there was still a long wait in getting drinks & our check. Overall it just isn't what it was sadly.

Yelp
Beautiful ambiance, phenomenal service, abundant wine and spirits list, 5 star food and fantastic location. What more do you need in a restaurant? I highly recommend the white cheddar lobster mac and cheese, halibut and buttercake. But honestly you can't go wrong with any of their steak selections. Enjoy

Yelp
Pretty safe choice if you're in the mood for a hearty steak. The classic American food tradition is well-represented through steaks and reliable service. However, the butter cake - it leans on the sweet side. The service is commendable, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. Keep in mind that the noise level can be high, so if you prefer a quieter setting, it's something to consider.

Yelp
Unfortunately, my experience at Mastro's was subpar to say the least. This is a massive three story restaurant and I made a reservation for my parent's anniversary, which they were kind enough to confirm over phone the day of. They sat us at the third floor next to a piano and in the room where there was a dinner event gala of some sort where at least 20 people were all dressed up, loud, and constantly walking around. If the room was booked and that noisy, I felt it inconsiderate to seat us there especially when my family is also here to celebrate intimately. 15 minutes in, a person came to sing and was so loud that my family couldn't hear each other. Comically, the lady was air-playing the piano so she technically didn't need to sit there. The service was attentive initially until we received our meal and then our waiter never came back. Everything was salty especially the steaks which were crusted with so much salt, it was honestly unbearable. The lobster mashed potatoes were drowning in butter and the lobster gets thinner every year. This place is popular though so maybe this is just my family and I's tastebuds. What I'm most upset about is how they literally cheated us. I was debating ordering dessert because I studied the menu beforehand and some of the cakes really caught my eye. However, they didn't ask if we wanted the dessert menu, cleared the table, and gave us a cheesecake for the anniversary. The cheesecake tasted horrible so we each took a bite and put our forks down. But still - what's a sweet gesture right? When I got the check, I was shocked. They charged us for the cheesecake.. albeit at a discounted price labeled celebration cheesecake. Still wtf?? I am so disappointed that they wouldn't ask in advance so I could just order the dessert I wanted to try in the first place if I'm paying for it. I am writing this review so hopefully other people aren't scammed like I am.

Yelp
I highly recommend the Beverly Hills location over the Downtown location. When making reservations, make sure you have dinner in the Penthouse! It's more modern and you get a view, if you request. There's also a pianist in there. I couldn't ask for more fabulous dinner. We ordered a porterhouse, ribeye, and pork chop. Was so delicious. Everything was sliced to perfection since we asked it to be served family style. Lots of flavor and not too salty. Things to note: Park in the Beverly Hills City parking lot. It's cheaper. Expect to pay about $100 per person. Asked to be seated outside in the penthouse The Penthouse and Mastro's have the same menu, same prices.

Yelp
We have been using Mastros to celebrate special occasions for a while now and they have yet to disappoint. Our host for the evening was Zeferino. He was attentive, accommodating and incredibly helpful to our party of 6. It was an anniversary celebration as well as a 'special news' sharing dinner and everything was perfect-perfectly timed. We had space to talk and have fun without feeling rushed or even ignored. Always love this place!

Yelp
The best your money can buy! I absolutely love Mastro's and have had excellent service every time I've been. The staff are very nice and attentive and definitely work to please all of their customers' needs. I highly recommend coming here with a big group so you can order a bunch of the sides and do family style. If you come with a group you MUST also order the seafood tower - a true Mastro's experience! The towers are customizable and can include shrimp cocktail, deviled crab, crab legs, lobster tails, and/or oysters. If you like seafood this will not disappoint you. Personally I literally love everything on the tower and always have to make sure I pace myself otherwise I won't have any room for the main course. Speaking of which - the bread basket they give you in the beginning is also very good filled with a variety of warm breads! For the main course, I usually order the Petite Filet 6 oz steak which is the smallest steak on their menu. If you order sides as well, I find it is more than enough for food. My favorite sides are the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Creamed Spinach, and Gnocchi but honestly everything is amazing and you can't go wrong. Depending on when you go, they also have live music and feature some amazing local artists who are very talented and will provide you with great tunes all night long. Wish I could eat here everyday! As for parking, there is valet or an affordable parking garage right across the street at the Beverly Hills location.

Yelp
My family and I had dinner at the Beverly Hills location on September 29th and we had a disappointing experience. Although there were several other diners in the restaurant, it was not busy that night. Once we were seated, it took several minutes for our server to arrive and greet us. He took our drink order, and a back-waiter brought the drinks a few minutes later. The server then came back to take our food order, and everything seemed fine. Things went south after that. The large shared salad was brought to the table, but without share plates, and the food runner implied that we would use our bread plates that had breadcrumbs and butter on them for the salad. We had to ask for share plates, which he brought. While eating the salad, I saw that there was a long-dark hair in it, absolutely disgusting! After waiting a few minutes for our server to come to our table and tell him of the problem (he wasn't anywhere in sight), I had to walk to the bar area where there were a couple other servers talking, and I asked them to tell my server to come to our table. One of those waiters came to take away the salad. Our server came by a couple minutes later and said he would replace the salad for us, but we declined. The manager never came to our table. I remind you that the restaurant was not busy. After dinner and dessert, the server presented the check without acknowledging the mishap with the hair in the food. I would have expected him to give a final apology (even though it probably wasn't his hair) to make us feel heard, but he didn't. We've been to Mastro's, in different cities, many times over the years and we've always had great experiences, with excellent food and service. We left the Beverly Hills restaurant feeling very disappointed. We saw the manager speaking with our server in the bar area just after we told them about the hair, but he never came to our table. I would have expected him to come speak with us, but he did not. Also, I wrote Landry's (they own Mastro's) through their website the day after our dinner and they did not reply, again, very disappointing.

Yelp
This 3rd level is the most livlyest floor with young and well to patrons. I'm addicted to their filet with Bernaise sauce.

Yelp
Went for a corporate event and was blown away by their amazing seafood tower, rack of lamb, and grilled lobster. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was super attentive despite a small team serving a large group. The butter cake is a must try.

Yelp
When I tell you this was my first time ever here, I was amazed. The atmosphere, the service, the food, omgoodness. My waiter Steve extraordinaire was the best, he made this experience the for me, the best of a lifetime so far. It almost made me cry. Thank you so much.

Yelp
I can't think of a more gauche and tacky experience that I've ever witnessed - especially at Mastro's. It all started with a misunderstanding from the reservation having requested a table "upstairs," which in my mind meant the second floor of the steakhouse, not the "Penthouse." I figured we would give it a try rather than try to be reseated in the traditional steakhouse. For starters - the entire vibe of the Penthouse feels cheaply overdone and the patrons seem to be a perfect fit. This place has a Vegas feel but not nice Vegas. It was packed with poseurs and wanna be "influencers." Imagine a milieu of bad and over done filler and collagen, Louboutins galore, yelling between tables, babies crying, and all with a backdrop of the synthesized music blaring 10 decibels too loudly and a football game being broadcast from the bar area. It literally felt like we could have been in the dining room at IKEA. Our server seemed to be professional, however, when a mixup in the kitchen seemingly lost an entire entree he seemed to just surrender the evening. The gesture for free desert was expected but he didn't quite know how to respond when we declined it because our entire party just wanted to leave rather than subject ourselves to the space any further. As a consolation the server made it clear that he removed the entree that we never received from our check along with my pre dinner cocktail. What can I say? This is a tough review because the food was as good as I've had at any Mastros, but the penthouse ambiance and frenetic environment really did put a damper on the evening. It was chaos and clearly being encouraged by management - as you could see them shine a flashlight on a seafood tower at a nearby table so the screaming patrons could memorialize their experience on TikTok. That old adage, however, that one man's trash is another's treasure seems apropos for my experience. The evening wasn't a complete catastrophe because we wound up going down to the second floor bar area for a night cap and wound up having the experience we had expected from the getgo. I generally love Mastros but caveat emptor when booking a table in the "Penthouse."

Yelp
Ambiance was great! They had a young lady playing the piano and signing, she was very good!! Our waitress was excellent. She made sure we were well taken care of. Very attentive and personable. Food was delicious! I forgot to take pictures of our actual dinner. lol. For our 25th anniversary, they went way out of their way to make it a special evening. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I love mastros buttt this location in my opinion is mediocre. The food was just okay -- the chicken was over cooked, the steak was underwhelming, the sides were not hot the butter cake honestly was the best thing/hotter than all the food put together. The service was terrible as we never saw our waiter -- well maybe like 2 times and that was after we had to flag him down several times. He hardly checked on us if we needed refills and it took forever to get the check even after all our food was packed up. I definitely will not be visiting this location again -- the location in DTLA IS FARRRRR BETTER and would have been worth the ext20 min drive. You all have been warned! Happy eating :)

Bobby M.

Yelp
My favorite steakhouse! Sometimes the steak isn't on point but if you have any issues they take care of it in a fabulous fashion! I've been here maybe 1000 times and to the other steakhouses I can count on one hand so that goes to show this is the go to when I want a steak or nice dinner. Wines are very reasonably priced as well.
google avatar

Seya M.

Yelp
Great ambience and fantastic live music. Went there on December 25 and enjoyed it very much for my birthday and the food was great.. I will definitely visited again with some friends. Definitely recommend the shrimp cocktail and the porterhouse. To be honest, I have been too many steakhouses before and I still prefer Ruth Chris as being one of the best and I don't think any of these side steak houses compared to it

Yelp
A perfect Valentines dinner as always! Our absolute favorite and my favorite seafood/steak house in LA! Penthouse vibes are always the best service and atmosphere. I reserve 45 days in advance for any special occasion.

Yelp
First, we had a reservation and were immediately taken to the Penthouse bar area. It took about 10-15min for us to be seated. We had a great corner booth table behind the piano. I imagine this is amazing when the weather is warmer. For drinks, we had the Fench 77, their form of a Cadillac margarita, and I broke down and tried that berry martini, which was extremely too sweet but definitely gave me a buzz. The other drinks were good. We, of course, had the bread basket, which was great, the lobster mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, chicken, and branzino. For dessert, we did the butter cake. So the lobster mashed potatoes and the butter cake were by far the highlight. We aren't steak eaters and had a gift card, and decided to check it out. I'd go back for those highlights alone. The branzino was decent, but I definitely needed the sauce. The chicken was also good. So, for the butter, beware, the menu portion is much larger than the comp cake the offer when you are celebrating. It comes with some delicious ice cream, but if you take it to go, they won't give you the ice cream unless you ask for it. All in all, we'd go back and try menu items.
google avatar

Zerica M.

Yelp
I recently celebrated my birthday here and I couldn't have asked for anything better. This was absolutely without a doubt the best butter cake I've ever had in my life. It literally just melts in your mouth and my taste buds went crazy. They even customized the menu for my birthday with a shout-out at the top of the menu. The steak, creamed spinach, lobster Mac and cheese, and lobster bisque soup were very tasty and flavorful. They also give you a variety of bread options before your food comes out and there's something for everyone. The portions are large and meant to be shared so your whole party can try a little bit of everything.

Yelp
First time trying Mastro's after hearing so many people talk about how good the food is here. It's definitely not your every day steakhouse, it's more for a special occasion. Reservations are strongly recommended especially if you plan on going up to the Penthouse. It's a two story building and the bottom floor is also a restaurant. From the looks of things, the Penthouse has the best views and nice seating areas. I like cushy booth seating and that's where I was seated. Upon checking in they verify your reservation and if you're in the Penthouse, they take you upstairs via the elevators. Very fancy. Then you are seated in a very intimate setting. Staff there was very attentive. They also give great recommendations. Definitely underestimated the portion sized and ordered too much. Ordered some steaks, sides, and drinks on the side. By the way they also have a bread basket. Steaks are cooked to perfection just the way you like it. There's also the truffle butter and bone marrow butter you can order as a side to dip with your meat. It really enhances the flavor. First time trying an aged steak and I am impressed. It takes better than a non-aged steak. It has a stronger meat flavor and it was very tender. The sides were great as well and these were pretty large portions. The guess the only downside from this visit was that the Bone Marrow Butter that was order and hardly used was not included in the to go container. It was at least $15 each for a small dish and the order was for 2. That was a waste of money since it was tossed away. At these fancy restaurants they tend to box your leftovers for you, but you never know if anything was thrown out until you get home. Overall it was still a nice experience. Definitely a nice treat for special occasions.

Yelp
If your in the Beverly Hills area, and your craving some steak and lobster you found the right place. I recommend the roof top patio. I order the steak, lobster, cream of corn and the mashed potato with lobster.

Yelp
I hate this place. It's sooo loud up here. The service is terrible and the food has gone downhill so bad that I haven't been back here in 2+ years. They opened a steak 48 near me which I will write a review about later on. MUCH BETTER THAN THIS PLACE. I ordered a ribeye Medium and I like cooking it on my plate. The steak came raw and was nasty. I asked to cook it a bit more. BIG MISTAKE. Never send a steak back to be cooked. Just suffer instead because everyone was practically done. I use to love the sides here but those came out cold. Fries were cold. Mushrooms MEH Mashed potatoes were ok at best. Butter cake with whipped cream was the best part of the meal but I potentially have diabetes now.

I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. They are spot on every time I visit. From the service to the food is on point. This is my favorite steak house in LA. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
My family flew in for my brothers birthday, and my brother wanted a wagyu tomahawk steak- so of course I had to make us reservations at the penthouse. We had the best experience. The tomahawk was incredible, lobster Mac and cheese was to live for (we added truffle sauce too). Everyone had an amazing time. The ambiance is wonderful. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Came the other day or last weekend & my server was Amanda. She gave the best customer service, suggested a lot of options to my friend who was new to the restaurant. Very kind & helpful. I definitely recommend her as your server! She made our visit very welcoming. Also the food was amazing! This location has been by far the BEST one I've been too. Very tasteful.

Yelp
Excellent service, delicious food and perfect ambiance with live music on a Saturday night - exactly what I would expect from Mastro's. We ordered the seafood tower with oysters, lobster and shrimp (we were obsessed with the flavor and tenderness of the shrimp). Sides: lobster Mac n cheese, truffle sautéed mushrooms and Brussels sprouts. Mains: 12oz steak and branzino. And, of course we couldn't skip the butter cake for dessert. Bonus points for plenty of leftovers for the next day!

Yelp
I am more than happy to say nothing but this is hands down the best, snazziest upscale steakhouse I've ever been to. Don't bother with finding parking just use valet. The atmosphere and decor from front door to the restroom were very nice to look at. The live, singing piano girl was at it with familiar, top songs to enjoy. We were seated by the window as reservations we're supposed to be and view from The Penthouse is from 3rd floor so the palm tree view was ideal. Steve was our waiter and just phenomenal and super nice, friendly and just knew his stuff to make this dinner extravagant. We came for the big boy steak and ended up ordering the Tomahawk 40 oz. The lobster mac n cheese and brussel sprouts. The steak was perfectly cooked and sliced for 2 people. I was happy that the sides can be ordered separately to pick what was desired. The complementary birthday dessert was very yummy, I'm going to go with sugar cookie filled with ice cream on top. All together the food and service was exceptional and just outstanding. I can't wait for my birthday, I'm coming here!

Yelp
Love it here. Mastro's is always a vibe. Great spot for a date night or if you want to dress up with your girls. My go to is the filet which is consistently delicious. I love how the waiters serve you the sides on your plate. Makes you feel fancy. The lobster Mac and cheese was just ok but damn those lobster mashed potatoes were divine. The live music at night is a nice touch too. The staff is so attentive. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE BUTTER CAKE FOR DESSERT! See you soon Mastro's. I need another butter cake.

Yelp
Food is absolutely delicious l like the NEW YORK STRIP, Wagyu ribeye and their HERB ROASTED CHICKEN. Their customer service is amazing always friendly. A title noisy for my preference but is fine is not that bad.

Yelp
Ambiance: upscale fine dining experience, though not everyone follow the dress code, occasionally saw some diners were too casual with jeans and sneakers, valet parking or flat rate in the nearby parking garage Service: very friendly and patient with question, also provided useful suggestion, though particularly slow while serving the food, which didn't come to the table until 40 minutes after placing the order, and the dishes were put on the opposite side initially without asking, we were so stuffed with the bread by then, could have enjoyed the steak much more Food: variety choices and premium quality, regular and special menu Bread Service - **** sorted bread basket with four different types, I like the salty pretzel and cheese bread, recommend "Chef's Cut" New York Strip 20oz - ***** perfectly cooked, soft and tender, very juicy, highly recommend Porterhouse 24oz - *** overly seasoned, too salty and over cooked, asked for medium but came as medium well White Cheddar Mac & Cheese - **** so creamy and crunchy, recommend Mastro's Signature Warm Butter Cake Price: moderate portions and reasonably priced, around $100 per person for food plus any alcoholic drink

Yelp
Late in reviewing this. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience with world-class steak, look no further than Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills. The penthouse location provides breathtaking views of the city, setting the perfect backdrop for a special occasion or a night out on the town. The menu boasts a variety of premium cuts of meat, all cooked to perfection and seasoned to enhance their natural flavors. I recommend the bone-in ribeye, which was juicy and flavorful. The sides, including the truffle mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, are the perfect accompaniments to your steak. The service at Mastro's is top-notch, with knowledgeable and attentive staff who ensure your dining experience is exceptional. The extensive wine list offers a range of options to pair with your meal. Mastro's Steakhouse in Beverly Hills is a must-visit for any steak lover. With its stunning views, impeccable service, and mouth-watering menu, you're guaranteed to leave feeling satisfied and indulgent. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I been coming to mastro's for years and never been disappointed till yesterday. The service as always was fantastic but my food was terrible. Me and wife drove from San Francisco to celebrate her graduation to be disappointed. I ordered the true A5 Kobe beef and honestly it was the worst I've ever had. Is all fat and chewy just gross. I've had this cut before in many 5 star restaurants and it's never been disappointed as this one. Our side of roasted Brussels sprouts were burn. The only thing I could taste was the nasty burn taste. The rest of the food and order was delicious.

Yelp
As a good handful of these reviews state, service is definitely lacking at this location. It is smaller and more cramped than other Mastro's. However, it is definitely a "scene" place in BH and the Penthouse is a vibe. Definitely a difference between the upstairs and the rest of the restaurant. After dining here on a few sporadic occasions, the quality of service has gone down with time. Staff shortages and COVID complications have hit all restaurants and Mastro's is no different. Our waitress was no where to be found so we had to ask other attendees to help us with small things that we needed - additional place settings, napkins, water, etc. Food was OK but Also has gone down in quality. Ribeye was good as usual but the sides are lacking. Seafood still of good quality. Best drink here is the Dream Berry which our whole table ordered. Great ambience music upstairs. Had a live lounge singer. I love that Mastro's all around tries to hire some local talent and I enjoyed it very much. Parking situation - save time and money by parking in public parking across the street not the valet.

Yelp
Got reservations a week ago for this past weekend to Mastro's for a celebratory dinner for my husband. We arrived a few minutes early and was immediately serviced as soon as we walked in. It was my first time at this particular location and at the Penthouse! Due to LA traffic and parking, I usually chose to go to the OC locations. FOOD: Bone In Ribeye: Cooked perfectly and so yummy! Double Cut Porkchop: Good outside texture and paired with an apple bourbon sauce. The porkchop was just a tad too cooked so it was dried but the sauce helped. Roasted Brussel Sprouts: good classic side to pair with the meats. Cream Corn: not too creamy and a classic option to have with either one of the meats. Bread: an assorted yummy basket of bread. Signature Butter Cake: this is a must. The cake is served with a raspberry sauce, ice cream, and a side of whip cream. If you didn't save room, you must make room! SERVICE: The service is great and the hot plate for sharing was a very nice touch to the dining experience! The staff and service were great all through the meal until the end. The guy who came to assist with packing up our leftovers was packing our to-go, and then realized he didn't have enough boxes for our bread so he told us he would need to go to the back and pack our bread. We then moved onto dessert, and when I was was paying the bill, I realized the guy never came back with our bread that he went to go to the back to pack. I asked our main server and she said she'd go check on the bread. I saw them talking and she came back to tell us that he'd be back out with new bread packed up for us. I said "Great!" When we got home, we checked the box it was not a new basket of bread, it was random pieces of bread which at that point I was not confident it was our bread. This is a real bummer because everything else was going so well. Plus, during this time of dealing with the pandemic and having the food out of our sight and not sure if it's ours- Disappointing! PARKING: There are street parking, valet, or parking garages nearby (about half a block to a block away).

Yelp
The food was great , however felt rushed by some of the staff even though there were empty tables. Why have a "dress code" when they obviously let anyone in. We had to sit next to one table with someone wearing a hoodie and another table wearing a baseball cap AND a hoodie.

Yelp
Bella was the best hostess ever. She truly made my birthday so special. I love the table that she gave me. I will only go to this Mastros going forward because of Bella. The food was delicious, and I really appreciated how she went above and beyond for me 10 out of 10 stars would recommend! Christopher , our server was amazing. He recommended the best items I really love the bone in fillet. Thank you so much Christopher I will only go to this Mastro going forward. I usually go to Las Vegas but Christopher was the best server I've ever ever had. He was so attentive, professional and amazing. 10 out of 10 experience thank you!

Yelp
I was super excited to try Mastro's but unfortunately didn't think it was worth it. They are obviously understaffed and the food was not worth the money you pay. Wait time: When we arrived, there was a line to get in, even though we had reservations. Once we got our seats, it took a very long time before our waiter even greeted us. The food honestly took so long that I debated if i should go leave and go somewhere else to eat. Food: The food was honestly not worth the price. The meat was cooked incorrectly. I ordered a medium rare and my boyfriend ordered rare. It was so dark that we couldn't see so I had to use my phone flashlight to look at our meat. We realized my meat was more red than his. My boyfriend only took 1 bite of his food and the waiter didn't even notice. The photos were so bright because my iPhone has night mode. If it didn't auto correct it, it would be way darker. Service: When seated, we saw our waiter a total of 4 times (1 time to bring us food, another to give us our check). Although your waiter was very nice the couple of times we interacted with him, the place was obviously extremely understaffed. It took us asking them 3+ times to get our check. The first 20 mins was spent waiting to order. Many times, it felt that the waiter forgot we were sitting in the corner. We were not seated in the normal room in the middle. Instead, they stuck us in the corner with no light at all. Environment: We had one of the worst tables in the whole restaurant. Our seat was like a patio for the big rooms. It was like this patio where there actually no light at all and the heaters also didn't work. I couldn't even read the menu without turning the flashlight on my phone. The music was also pretty loud. **note: the table beside us was celebrating a birthday and they brought out a "happy anniversary" dessert. I'm not sure if it's because it was Valentine's Day, but everything was a mess.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had our anniversary dinner here and the food was STUNNING! Little did I know the dinner was a build up to our engagement! After our dinner, he took me to an overlook above the Hollywood Bowl, a special place for us, where he proposed! We ended our evening by watching the holiday light show at Disney! We just moved to LA and this was our first Christmas Eve here and we're so grateful for Mastro's and all their staff members, especially our server who brought over a beautiful red rose bouquet, who played such a big part on our special night! Maybe I'll laugh about this later, but there was a lady who followed me into the bathroom to ask, "did he do it yet? Did he propose? We've all been waiting." Mam, why would you ruin the surprise and ask the person getting asked? I thought it was incredibly selfish and inconsiderate. I couldn't tell if she was a staff member, a manager, or just someone dining in. Overall, the food, view, and team was 10/10. (Besides Karen)
