"Find this pub in the Arts District, where diners can order traditional corned beef, bangers and mash, pub curry, burgers, wings, sandwiches, and more. Traditional Irish bread pudding, Guinness ice cream, and lots of traditional Irish booze are on the dessert menu. The eclectic interiors feature an unusual take on displaying art, mixing sculptural items with the usual Irish artwork. It also generously mixes old-school chandeliers and modern light fixtures, dark and light woods, and signs from Irish artists, both new and old." - Courtney E. Smith, Alaena Hostetter

Google
This place has the best scotch eggs I’ve found. The drinks were a bit pricey but very good. We went for Sunday brunch and enjoyed 5 dollar mimosas. The service was bit slow, even tho we were one of the only tables.

Google
I had an amazing time. Everything was just on point: delicious food, well made cocktails, attentive to little details staff and cozy special atmosphere. Recommend it to anyone and looking forward to my next visit!

Google
Get the Scottish eggs. Omg it was the yummiest breakfast type meal ever. The drunken muscles were also really great. Loud and high energy environment.

Google
Excellent lunch and brunch menu. It was whiskey Wednesday, but I'm not Irish enough to do that for lunch lol!! Their version of a Reuben sandwich was excellent, and the sweet potato fries were definitely worth the little extra. The servers are efficient and polite, and the food was delicious and prepared well.

Google
Had an excellent experience at this place. The scotch eggs were amazing! The sausage was packed with fresh herbs, perfectly crispy outside, and lovely tangy mustard sauce. The food came out so fast. The happy hour drinks were a good deal. Service was great. Only downside is that the restaurant is really small so the inside got packed, but there is ample shaded patio seating.

Google
Wow food was excellent and drinks were on point.. go check this place here ... Well until next time signing off Two Peas

Google
Loved this place -- we will be back. Sat on the back patio, weather was perfect. Henry our server took great care of us -- recommended the Scottish Eggs. So we had the Scottish eggs thinking "light bite"... then after finishing those needed to order a second plate of them! Snakebite with Magners Cider went really well with. Overall really refreshing drink. I got the Irish Mule too and it was great!

Google
Waitress was very friendly and attentive. My companion and I thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely mid-afternoon lunch and never felt rushed. We began with the spicy cheese curds, which the waitress helpfully warned us were quite spicy. As long as you like things hot, they're not overpowering and we really enjoyed them. The burgers we had for the main course were cooked exactly as ordered, both in doneness and customized toppings. The one slight weak point was that the side of fruit ordered instead of french fries was not very appetizing, but after all that's not what we came for! We split a bread pudding for dessert, which was fantastic and of course highly recommended. All in all it was a wonderful meal.

Yelp
Me and my Dad went here we got sixteen piece wing's it was great, The service was great Waiter was very nice and the food was Excellent and served hot and fresh,The lighting and music was good. Will come back very nice place. Would stop here again when in Dallas Tx

Yelp
Perfect location Plenty of parking And great outside and inside seating. Great collection of whiskey And great drink selections. The pretzels are amazing, the cheese dip perfect. The burger I had had avocado and bacon soooooo good. We also tried the turkey sandwich which was perfect. Definitely be ordering this on weekends. Cool spot. With great servers.

Yelp
A very fun, very Irish pub plopped in the middle of the ultra-modern, sleek Dallas Arts District. The most extensive selection of whiskeys (Irish and beyond) I've ever seen. A great place to grab a drink before or after a show.

Alexa M.

Yelp
I loved this experience! What a cute pub! The ambiance is warm and inviting with a touch of elegance. I applaud the originality in this space. Clearly, every detail has the appropriate attention. Clean, indoor and outdoor seating options- shaded or in the sun. If only I lived in Dallas THIS would be my spot! The staff was extremely friendly and the menu options are endless. Can't wait to return, I want to try more! Wonderful experience.

Mitchel R.

Yelp
Great ambiance, good beer and whiskey selection, friendly service, clean dining room and restroom. Very cozy feel. Fish and chips were really great. We split the single order and wish we'd ordered the double. Only concern is that service was a bit slow, but they were absolutely packed and seemed short staffed. Nice place, I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Food was amazing and i loved the vibe . A true Irish Pub . I had the Fish and Chips . It was delicious ! Chef swung by to chat which i really appreciated . Highly recommend

Cathleen S.

Yelp
Location caters to the arts crowd but they are completely unprepared to handle that crowd. 2 waitstaff and the manager trying to serve 75-100 patrons. 6:20 arrival for an 8:00 show and that was inadequate. 25 minutes to get our drink order and that was the manager taking pity on us. Food was tasty but we had only a few minutes left to eat after waiting an hour after ordering and we were still late to our show across the street. Choose a random time to eat here- even with a reservation, our concert meal was miserable.

Ally C.

Yelp
I came here with my two friends while visiting Dallas. We were in the mood for an Irish pub, and this is in walking distance of their apartment. I'm so glad we happened upon this spot! The vibe of the place is very chill, and the staff is amazing. Definitely ask for Mike to be your server! He was so funny and friendly. Hillary, the manager, was also really nice. We enjoyed our drinks with a warm soft pretzel + stone ground mustard/beer cheese. My friends who live nearby insist that coming here for drinks will be a common occasion from now on. I, for one, will certainly be back next time I visit Dallas!

Kevin B.

Yelp
While waiting for our table at Yolk for brunch we stopped inside for a drink at Playwright. What a great Irish Pub. The setting was very much like a real Irish Pub. The food menu looked good, as did the Irish Wiskey, Scotch and beer offerings. We went with the pint of Guinness based on time available and time of day, but I'd love to come back another time.

Doc Girlie J.

Yelp
Food is great. I like the Irish breakfast. The pretzel is delicious. The Irish eggs are kinda hard. Service is good. Ambiance alright.

Jessica S.

Yelp
My besties and I were enjoying a girls weekend in Dallas and decided to stop here for dinner one night after the place we originally wanted to eat wouldn't seat us. I'm not sure why I wasn't taking the pub portion in the name of this pub seriously, I just had food on my mind! Upon entering, yes it really is a pub! Looked like a pub, felt like a pub, served like a pub! I was a little hesitant to stay, because pubs aren't really my vibe. However, we stayed because the food menu sounded delicious! We started off with sharing the pretzel, cause you can never go wrong with pretzel. For drinks, we each had a mule and an espresso martini. For my entrée, I got the curry. The curry is a hit if you are a curry fan, one of the best I've ever had. I highly recommend everything we had! Very glad we stayed and enjoyed our evening here. Our server was very friendly and gave us top notch recommendations! Service was a little slow as mentioned by other reviewers, but they do get pretty busy!

Mike D.

Yelp
About as Irish as McDonald's. Friendly staff, food on the low end of "just ok". Couldn't even show Ireland v France in the Six Nations tournament. Weak. Lots of Irish beer advertising on the walls, but feels very contrived. The spirits selection is about as extensive as your average Specs.

Tracy H.

Yelp
Quant, cozy pub with a mix of traditional Irish Fare and American dishes and sandwiches. Visiting Dallas for a few days and already have been here twice!! Welcoming staff, hot well prepared food and an atmosphere reminiscent of pubs in Ireland. We truly enjoyed our time here and will be back - maybe tomorrow:) Our recommendations for food: fish and chips ( the fish didn't even need tartar sauce to be delicious) bangers and mash and tomato soup. Stop in, relax and enjoy!

Kim D.

Yelp
Returned for another excellent experience! I continue to be impressed by the cocktails, they have the classics and some really nice unique options. This time I tried the vegetarian chicken sandwich, and I really liked it! I appreciate a "chicken" vegetarian option, as most pubs only have a "beef" option, and I would order this again. I also tried the potato and leek soup, and it was very smooth and creamy, a satisfying side to say the least. Definitely coming back for another round soon!

Scott G.

Yelp
Nice location but understaffed and the charge $6 if you split a meal? WTF? We had several drinks but split a meal and they changed us an extra fee!

Becky B.

Yelp
Excellent! What a welcoming atmosphere and staff. So enjoyable from the good to the drinks.

Ben S.

Yelp
Food was decent, although the service was lacking and the restaurant was very loud. We were in the area for a play and had a time hack to meet in order to get there on time. We arrived with ample time in order to meet that time constraint, but our food still took over 1.5 hours to come out. We were late for our show for food that wasn't even that good for the price.

Brandon A.

Yelp
Great food, great beers, and awesome staff. Shane, Megan, Diego, Taylor, Ginny, and everyone else always make the place feel like home when I come in.

Jean Ann T.

Yelp
Fun place and a great atmosphere! They were showing a soccer game in the tvs when we got there. Never have I ever felt such a great, friendly crowd! Our apartment was around the corner, this was a great find! Good all came out hot and fresh, great service too! Seemed like they all worked well together!!

Nolan C.

Yelp
Always great! Delicious food, great beers, and tremendous service! My wife and I had our first Valentine's Day there and fell in love with the place. I highly recommend it! The atmosphere is fantastic and has the feel of an Irish pub that we are looking for with its comfortable setting and an ambiance that everyone should enjoy. We look forward to going again and again!

Yelp
Went this morning, wanted to go to Yolk across from this place but wait was too long. Went here instead. The decor is beautiful and waiters were friendly. I asked for a glass of whole milk and received whole milk like I wanted, not 2%. Got Chicken and Waffles. Waffles were super nice, well made belgian waffles with sugar crystals like it should be. The combination of buffalo sauce and gravy and syrup was surprisingly good. Portion sizes were somewhat small, and chicken was small and only one piece, was expecting at least two. Funny thing was I was so excited to eat that i chipped my tooth while eating on the fork, biting prematurely.

Yelp
I have been to many Irish Pubs all over the world and I have a few favorites. Playwright Irish Pub is in the top 3. This pub is a local hangout and centrally located to downtown. It is a fun and inviting place to eat and drink. The fish & chips are some of the best I've had anywhere in the world. I think the reason this pub is so good is because of the manager Hilary. She is very professional yet approachable and obviously in control of the entire operation. She is also very crafty and funny. I would highly recommend this pub whenever you are in downtown Dallas.

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Service is the reason I'm taking the time to write a review. Our food was good - scotch eggs, mussels, breakfast, monte cristo.... My top shelf margarita was good but the server asked my preference for the rim (salt, sugar, tajin) but then brought it to me opposite of what I requested. As I said, food was just fine but service was not. The server would disappear for long periods of time and a different server had to cover and take care of us.

Emily W.

Yelp
I was recently in Dallas and stopped at this restaurant while my friend was sleeping in. I can't say enough wonderful things about my sever Ginny. I was dining alone and I've never felt more comfortable. Ginny made me feel incredibly welcomed. Her service was beyond remarkable! Not only was the service amazing but the spicy cheese curds gave a old appetizer a new twist. I would highly recommend this restaurant. And ask for Ginny S.!

Jack C.

Yelp
Very nice decor in the pub and the wait staff was nice as well. Music was super loud and Guinness wasn't great.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Great service despite the several giant groups that walked in! We were able to bring our dog and sit on the patio. The food was awesome! It is an Irish pub so it can pretty rowdy. Remember that people are there to have a good time so get a shot of Tully...or two and embrace it.

Shawnte J.

Yelp
Went to brunch across the street and had the pleasure of coming into this spot for some drinks. Our first server was Ariel and she was very nice and provided excellent service. She gave us some great selections on drinks. We had to go pick up out keys from the valet so we left and came back. When we came backe Ariel's shift was ending and Troy came over to introduce himself and take over our table. Troy was equally as amazing as Areil and he provided some great spots to check out. Troy also told is about their brunch and encouraged is to come back in and try it out on another weekend. Definitely will come back to try out the food since we only had drinks. Also the bathrooms were super clean. Great service, reasonably priced drinks, and great menu items makes this place a must try if you are in the area.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Waited over 45 minutes for drinks (yes, just beers) watching other people get served several times! We had put in a drink order but eventually left because it still wasn't there and while waiting for our Uber outside, the server had the audacity to approach us and tell us we were walking our tab... we never got anything! She then said we wouldn't be served if we returned... NO PROBLEM! I won't ever be back- peace

Nancy H.

Yelp
Love this Pub! It's beautiful, food is amazing the most difficult part is what to order, everything is amazingly great! It's the most perfect date venue!

Joon P.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday mid afternoon to sit on the patio and it was the perfect vibe. To be in downtown and away from the noise was just what I was looking for. They had a great selection of happy hour drinks and menu I enjoyed. I highly recommend the scotch eggs. A few weeks later I brought a few friends but on a Saturday night. Ambiance was the same chill vibe. The waiters are so friendly that their lack of speed is overlooked. Ryan was my server the second time and gave some solid recommendations for scotch. Had the Jameson burger and it hit the spot. The duck wings were divine. A must have. Skip the regular wings and treat yoself to the duck wings, it's worth it. Order an extra plate cus you will want/need it.

Rachel B.

Yelp
A great place to stop before a show (or anytime, really). We tried the fish and chips and the Reuben fries and weren't disappointed. The staff was attentive and kind and the ambiance, while sometimes loud, was perfect. They also have heaters on the patio which is perfect this time of year.

Daryl H.

Yelp
Great experience before our tickets to a show in the arts district. Fish and chips was outstanding. Large portions.

Nancy R.

Yelp
We came in after seeing a show at the Winspear. I have a bunch of adult kids with a variety of dietary needs, so a pub is always a pretty solid choice. I was right. Everybody left full, happy, and full. Excellent service, food, and an extensive whiskey list make for a fantastic experience. Will be back!!!!

Jay E.

Yelp
The family and I decided to stop here before going to our hotel. Cool little spot. The service and food was great. We tried the Scottish egg and the spicy curds. The curbs weee the best ever. We all had different entrees. Would definitely recommend.

Kristi B.

Yelp
My daughter and I went to see a musical at the Windspear theater and just happened across this diamond of a restaurant!! We saw that they were serving brunch and so we took our chances. The atmosphere was wonderful and the staff was extremely helpful and kind! We had the pretzels and vanilla latte (pictured), but what I didn't take a picture of were the Waffles, the Lamb Stew, and the Grapefruit mimosa. Everything we tried was delicious and more than enough for a mom and daughter team that we had left-overs! If you are in the Dallas area, I'd recommend coming to this Irish Pub!! You won't be disappointed!

Graham S.

Yelp
Love this place! Especially Diego - my second time coming in and he's always quick with the drinks and with a great attitude. Definitely coming back!

Vicki C.

Yelp
Great breakfast/brunch The full Irish breakfast is enough for two and absolutely delicious- be sure to try some Scotch Eggs too!

Alex D.

Yelp
Went here for brunch with some friends by chance since we were planning to go to Yolk across the street but they had over an hour wait. It is a neat, cozy, little pub. I got the Uncle Sam $15.50 which comes with 2 eggs any style, sausage, bacon, hash browns, stack of mini pancakes and your choice of toast or a biscuit with sausage gravy. I got my eggs over easy and they were cooked perfectly. There were 2 pieces of bacon but pretty limp and not crispy like I like. You get 1 sausage link that was pretty good and much larger than normal breakfast links. The pancakes were good but generic. The biscuit was too dry and not fluffy. The gravy was not to my liking and very watery. Overall, okay substitute for brunch but would not go out of my way.

Danny R.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to have brunch before going to a concert. We checked out Yolk, but it had a long wait and actually wasn't that good the last time we ate there. We saw a sign for this place and decided to check it out. So glad we did. Being an Irish Pub, I had to have a pint of plain. After the appropriate wait, my pint of black gold arrived. The food was excellent. Great corned beef (to be expected!). We sat on the patio overlooking the theaters. Great service, great food and drinks. This will be our go to place before concerts.

Chandler P.

Yelp
Go see Ryan. Serving is his business and business is good! What a guy, honestly if everyone at playwright is like him i wont go anywhere else. Please give it a try if your in the neighborhood.

Jamie H.

Yelp
Diego was the best bartender ever!! Great food and great service!! Highly recommend!!

Liza B.

Yelp
Decided to try a place next to a venue we were attending and was not disappointed. They are really time conscious, as most of the customers were there prior to some show they were attending. The service was fast, even though they were packed! The food was great. Had the Monte Cristo-delicious! You can even pay on your phone, so if you're Ina rush, no need to wait!

Tammie G.

Yelp
Ok came for the first time on a VERY BUSY NiGHT. Was told at the bar they couldn't sell us a beverage w/o is sitting in a seat? Place was packed so no seats to be found ..hubs said let's try another place but before we could leave Allison found us and informed us it was a VERY unusually busy night and she was so sorry that they couldn't serve us because they had a 45min wait but outside she would be able to serve us ASAP. It was cold but she said they had a heater so we decided to give them a shot. We are so glad we did! Tim was a great server and the drinks (happy hour daily 4-7!) where great . I had an Irish car bomb and it was really good (I'll let them tell you how to drink it ) Food looked great but we where just stopping in for a quick drink. They had a HUGE scotch and Irish whiskey menu and a cool scotch and chocolate option that changes about every 6 weeks. They where so professional and handled a ridiculous crowd(some very unruly) with such grace.. Can't wait to go back! Way to go Allison and Tim!

Maram M.

Yelp
Yes I have found a gem!!!! Finally an authentic amazing Irish pub here in Dallas Their beer and whiskey, bourbon etc selection is amazing!!!!! They do serve Brunch u till 3pm! Located right across from the Yolk place!!! Oh and foks, they bloody have heinz red beans with breakfast!!! Horayyyy!!!!

LaRhonda R.

Yelp
Nice Irish pub tucked away in Dallas. Would prefer for fish to be less oily. I would go back.

Erik P.

Yelp
Last night at the establishment, I encountered an issue with a bartender named Diego who was off-duty and visibly intoxicated. Despite this, he was continuously served drinks he shouldn't have been. I've contacted the bar owner via Facebook seeking a resolution, but received no response. I won't return until there's an apology and some form of discipline. I was simply trying to enjoy time with a friend, but Diego's behavior, claiming a false connection and making my friend uncomfortable, was unacceptable. Even though Megan promptly intervened, I shouldn't have had to ask. If a guest is being bothered, staff should redirect them elsewhere. As a fellow bartender, I believe allowing staff to drink on the job reflects poorly on the establishment. I'll reconsider my review if changes are implemented, but until then, I won't be returning. I have given them several weeks to reply and no response.

Rob D.

Yelp
In the Metroplex, indeed, across the country, there is pub after pub that, while brandishing the "pub" monicker, is anything but... serving nachos and the most mundane bar food. Rarely, however, does one find a pub with the appropriate atmosphere and actual pub food. Not only does the Playwright have pub food, but they also do it well! Scotch eggs (that aren't cooked to death), full Irish breakfast, fish & chips... all are fantastic! Two visits and we're hooked. Thank you, to Ariel, who gave us amazing and personable service!

Joel Z.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. Arrived around noon and was quickly seated. TVs had the soccer game on which was exactly what I wanted. Lots of yummy looking choices on the menu. I had the Mac and cheese and fell in love.

Ruby L.

Yelp
Came tonight at 7PM, even though it was packed the service and food was great. Great outdoor sitting.

Lloyd R.

Yelp
Get the eggs! Omg! And the Sheppards pie. You can't go wrong there. First time in and I'll certainly be back. Well worth the hour drive.
