Had such a fun, romantic, unplanned late dinner at Plimoth last night and it was great. So enjoyable and so safe. You should absolutely put it on your list of places to go even while the scourge of the pandemic is still with us.
Was coming home after a performance at Wunderbound (a place you need to go:), and was passing nearby the Plimoth when we decided to see if they could squeeze us in without a reservation.
We love Plimoth and it reminds us of Tables in Park Hill. It's got a casual but elegant neighborhood vibe. The servers and front of the house people could not be more welcoming and efficient and the food is always special.
Also, turns out they have several outdoor tent-like structures and a few widely spread out tables inside which served to lure us in. We ended up taking one of the inside ones and there wasn't anyone within 10-15 feet of us. Felt safe as could be with the 2 of us at a table for 6.
Since we'd a some wine and snacks at the performance before we got there we weren't all that hungry so decided to split an appetizer, a salad and a main course, and share the food and a recommended glass of wine with each course.
Excellent. No question about the quality and thought that went into the menu. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 star experience was that while the arugula salad with cactus chips was simply superb, the appetizer (yam tarte with pulled pork, mushrooms, maple syrup and pecans) and the main course (striped sea bass in a rich lentil, carrot, yogurt sauce) were both a bit too complicated for our tastes. Sometimes a slew of ingredients mixed together introduces just too many layers of flavor that don't compliment each other, and while interesting and unlike any dishes we'd previously had we both felt that way about those dishes.
However, we finished the dinner off with an incredibly delicious dark chocolate pot de creme with cherries bits and buttery crumbles. Absolutely spectacular . . . and a neat place to add to your list of the best of what Denver has to offer during this viral time.
Ciao, and stay safe out there, with only a few more months (I hope) to go . . .
