"The Plot, a San Diego-founded restaurant serving crowd-pleasing plant-based fare, is making its way up the coast. It meets diners’ expectations with meatless takes on meat-centered classics like chicken and waffles and drippy Reuben sandwiches. Bold flavors and good techniques make the Plot a great option in the area. Order the banana creme brulee for dessert." - Eater Staff

"The Plot opened its first OC location at the Camp in Costa Mesa in January, expanding from two outlets in the San Diego area. The restaurant focuses on regenerative farming and no waste. Co-owners chef Davin and Jessica Waite transform beet scraps into ketchup, and leftover peels from the banana creme brulee into tacos and tortas. Dishes that should appeal to omnivores include a meatless meatloaf with a garlic yam mash while carrot “fish” and chips come beer-battered and fried." - Jenn Tanaka

What I like the most about The Plot is their bold and creative menu. Their dishes will surprise you -- they still have classics, but some are very different from what you find in other "normal" vegetarian/vegan restaurants. On weekends they also have some nice vinyl music playing too! Highly recommend.

Such a great spot to catch up with a friend! Gabriella was awesome—super friendly and made sure our food was just right. Ordered: • KBBQ Kitchen Sandwich with truffled fries • Spicy Korean BBQ Chicken. We’re not huge on spice, but she nailed the perfect level of heat. Plus, the chef sent out a delicious , rich in flavor appetizer on the house! Definitely coming back for more!

Google
Everything was super tasty! We got the burrata appetizer, the chicken sandwich, the carrot tacos, the veggie bowl (forgot the name sorry) and the chocolate mousse. Everything was SO GOOD but I highly highly highly recommend the carrot tacos!

Google
A very clean, pet-friendly vegan restaurant. The food is made with fresh fruits and vegetables and served with very advanced techniques. The staff are very friendly and kind. I really like this restaurant.

Google
Amazing plant-based restaurant in Costa Mesa! The shawarma and shepherds pie were particular good. Friendly service and in a fun little outdoor mall!

Google
The service was outstanding, our server was the nicest, and was extremely educated on the menu making fantastic suggestions. The food was great. I had meatless, meatloaf, and the fries, They tasted fantastic like a home cooked meal. I really appreciate the detail that went into the meal itself. The chefs did remarkable work and you can tell that they are proud to serve the dishes. I meet the co-owner who was just the sweetest person you will ever meet wasn’t able to meet her husband but maybe next time 🤘🏼 as a traveling, musician I am able to try some of the top vegan restaurants across the country. I will definitely put this location in one of my go to spots. 🌱

This is the first time I’ve been to a vegan restaurant because a friend recommended it. I had the carrotfish entree and my mom had a chicken dish. My carrotfish was decent and my fries were good except they were well done. I asked for ketchup and they brought beet ketchup which was surprisingly delicious. Most of the food lacked salt except the French fries. All in all, the food was bland for my taste. But the service was impeccable with extremely courteous staff and the atmosphere was pleasant. I’m glad I tried this restaurant. But since I’m not vegan, I don’t plan to return.

Had a phenomenal Vegan feast at the Plot today. Service and cuisine were on point! Highly recommend.

Yelp
First...Jackie is awesome!!! Food was incredible. My wife and I had brunch on a Sunday and went back on Monday for dinner. You will not be disappointed. They lived up to their mission statement!!! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
My BFF found this spot on Yelp and we decided to go to try it. It's a cute place with a bunch of plants and outdoor seating. Chef gave us a sampler of their salad. Tasted good. We ordered the Chronic $15 (mushroom, tuna & avocado - tempura fried, topped with spicy mayö & sweet n spicy citrus), Shepherd's Pie $23 (meatless gravy topped with mashed potato, seasonal veggies), Daily Pasta $28 (shishito pesto, tomatoes, mushrooms, walnut), and Eggplant & Focaccia $15 (yogurt, tomatoes, toasted focaccia with tomato jam, herbs). My BFF ordered the Almond Blossom $16 (almond, lemon, apple blossom bitters, sake) for her drink. Love that their food is organic and they have their own garden in their Oceanside location, but honestly we were not a big fan of their food. Some of the ingredients within the dishes itself did not pair well together. Really expensive. The Chronic was good though. Can't go wrong with sushi and spicy mayo. The staff was nice. There are bathrooms located in the back. Parking was a nightmare. Spots were very compact. We got lucky and found parking after circling around twice.

Yelp
Polenta Chorizo : 8.5/10 Great! The polenta was baked nicely and the vegan chorizo made of lentils reminded me almost of salsa. Didn't taste like lentils which I really liked. I would order again. Biscuits & Gravy : X This dish flavor wise I didn't like. The gravy tasted odd. The tofu chicken was too chunky and tasted just like plain fried tofu. Not reminiscent of chicken or seasoned to be like chicken. The biscuits weren't that great. Wouldn't order or recommend. Shepherds Pie : 10/10 The potatoes in this dish are incredible. Reminded me of hash browns. The sauce is excellent and you can't taste the lentils much they seamlessly blend which I prefer. Best vegan shepherds pie I've ever had. Lions mane crab cake : 7/10 Alright but I wouldn't order again. Beet sauce was good but the crab cake was just ok. Truffle fries : 7/10 I'm very happy I ordered the truffle sauce on the side because it was way too thick and chunky in my opinion to be paired with fries. It was like a thick soup. Having soup poured over fries just would've tasted weird. Get the sauce on the side. I didn't end up liking the sauce I'd prefer a vegan cream. Would be better if the fries were topped with truffle oil and salted more.

Yelp
Completely plant based restaurant in the heart of the Camp-- the Plot is definitely worth every headache waiting for that one lucky spot. I wouldn't particularly recommend dedicated meat lovers to come here as nothing will sound good to you. But diving into the vegetarian lifestyle this place is flavortown playing with citrus, salt and texture. Just by eating here I've been introduced to the cutest little sprouty crunches called sea beans. We've been here twice now and both times were equally hard limiting ourselves on what to get. I do have to say-- nothing is what you expect and what you get never disappoints. The citrus dressing is incredibly refreshing on the kale Caesar salad. We'd tried the chicken but it's not like any other plant based poultry I've ever tried. It's more protein gluten sponge. Like a honeycombed chunk of tofu without the soy. Love love the French press that coffee comes in. So heavy duty, insulated temperature and looks like it can take some use and abuse. Delicious smooth coffee too. The only downside is everything is so beautiful and meticulously tested, paired, presented-- it's gonna be at least $30 per person without beverages. I don't understand how there can be so few patrons and still be able to make rent at such an impressive spot. But whatever they're doing I wish them to be as long as possible. Service is very attentive and all the servers/wait staff are very friendly and knowledgeable of the food. There's a passion when they talk about what they like and recommend.

Yelp
I've walked past this restaurant many times but never thought to try it. The food options are excellent for those with dietary restrictions, though our server was unsure about the ingredients in a particular dish. The entrees were fresh and delicious. I would definitely stop by again!

Yelp
I had a lot of excitement stepping into Plot, given the diversity of the menu and zero waste concept. I was wowed by the chef's welcome tasting of lettuce gazpacho. Which ultimately set the bar high and I expected everything thereafter to have that kind of a "wow" effect, but that was far from the case :( The gazpacho vibrant in color, had the perfect touch of salt, and it left me feeling like I had been transcended into a garden. I started with one of the evening off-menu specials - Root Agua Chile. The dish was plated beautifully, many colors. The sauce was some kind of strawberry pure and was delicately sweet at first but afterwards there's a spicy heat that flares on your palate... I particularly loved it. The disappointment in the dish was the celeriac root, it was rubbery and hard to chew. This was the primary reason I got this dish, so overall, I was let down because of the celeriac root. For my main I ordered the gnocchi. I was delighted when the dish was placed in front of me; however, I can say I've never EVER had gnocchi like this before... it was like rubber balls, I seriously wanted to bounce it off the floor. It was so horrible, I'm lost for words on how to exactly describe it other than rubber balls??? The mushrooms, asparagus, peas and tomatoes prepared well and well seasoned, but nothing was good enough to replace how horrible the gnocchi was. The Koji cheese sauce was very meh, nothing very tantalizing. I did not eat the gnocchi, but picked at the veggies. The staff and chef were very apologetic and tried to offer a replacement, but due to the overall less than stellar celeriac root and the gnocchi I was definitely not going to give something else a shot during this visit All I wanted to do was leave and find other food that was worth my time. There are plenty of other menu items I wanted to try, so at some point, I'll give it a second chance. Parking is a pain in the you know what. Be prepared for parking lot chaos. It's in the CAMP which gives you a lot of options to browse shops before and after your meal. Again, I do want to recognize the staff's attempt to remedy this poor experience. It's the primary reason I'd even think of a return.

Yelp
All I can say is that this place is insanely good. Top-tier service, great vibes, and the food is all "special". The food has unique textures/flavors and they're all delicious-- I think it's great as a dating or celebration spot!

Tu-Quyen P.

Yelp
Vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike will be wowed by the food here. I've had their regular menu and their prix fixe Plantscape dinner and both knocked it out of the park. The flavor profiles are complex and unique but mesh so well together. Super high quality ingredients and just dish after dish of satisfying bites. Great service and fun vibes as well.

Rodney B.

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing! The food was so fresh and you could tell that it was made with a lot of care. The service was great and the ambience was amazing.

Geoffrey S.

Yelp
Aside from the amazing looking anti-mall location and the slow spinning fan when you walk in, or the greens and cloth napkins, the home made filtered sparkling water, or even that they are a Zero waste establishment... THE FOOD IS OUTSTANDING! Seriously the Toast flight, or the Patty-melt and you have to get their version of animal fries... stellar! Lindsey was our server, extremely knowledgeable and suuuuuuper friendly!

Benjamin B.

Yelp
My girlfriend took me here for my birthday - this place blew my mind! Such ingenious and flavorful dishes! And the staff is super friendly and they have great menu recommendations - they never steered us wrong. The banana crème brûlée might be my favorite dessert of all time. And it's green how cool is that!

Sarah J.

Yelp
So happy Costa Mesa opened after Oceanside has been a favorite place to stop on the way back from San Diego. Stopped on a rainy day for my birthday and loved both sandwich's my friend and I got. Service was quick and attentive. And love the round yurt spot, feels cozy and open at the same. Crème brûlée banana desert was unlike any desert I've had before and very creative and delicious. Just hoping the "chicken" and biscuits can make it to the menu all day in the future. Looking forward to trying both weekend brunch and dinner

Yelp
Amazing food. I'm taking on the vegetarian lifestyle for a while and I found this place on Yelp. It's located inside the Camp in Costa Mesa. It's all plant based and very flavorful. The decor is nice and the service is amazing. I would come back for lunch or dinner and try some more different dishes.

Sharon W.

Yelp
Came here for the grand opening and was impressed by their stellar service. I ordered the shepherds pie and it was phenomenal -- both presentation and taste-wise. But it was very salty, so I couldn't finish the whole entree in one sitting. Took it home, reheated it the next morning, and it was just as good. The taste profile honestly reminded me of beef stew my dad would make when I was a kid... the nostalgia element definitely added to my experience. The ambiance is nice for a dinner date -- we sat outside. It was well-lit and they had blankets available for those who wanted to be cozy :) Parking can be tricky if you visit during prime dining hours. We had to park outside of the plaza and walk a few blocks, which wasn't a big deal -- just something to be mindful of.

Yelp
We found this restaurant thanks to all the great yelp reviews! My friends and I had the best experience here. Our server Carissa had a nice welcoming vibe and so many great recommendations. My favorite dish was the gyro (which I forgot to snap a pic of ) Full of fresh veggies and protein with a nice sauce drizzled on top. Also the fries were thick and crispy served with a house made beet ketchup! I can't wait to come back and try other things on their menu.

Jessica G.

Yelp
I was very excited to check out this new vegan spot at the camp (where Native Foods used to be). Super cute ambiance both inside and out. Full service dine-in instead of ordering at the counter. We sat outside with my dog (dog friendly) and I was thrilled to see them provide blankets! They also have heaters so it was very comfortable. We went for brunch around 2 pm. They have a good sized drink menu, including lots of nonalcoholic options (perfect for dry January). We tried the zero proof Paloma and thoroughly enjoyed it. Started with the soup- the soup rotates but today was ginger carrot. Delicious! We then got the toast flight which also rotates- this had 3 toasts: avocado, mushroom pesto, and seaweed dill. All delicious! I wanted to try the cinnamon roll, but was disappointed when we were told brunch ends at 3 and we tried ordering too late (3:30). I would've appreciated a heads up for last call on the brunch menu. Dinner starts at 5, so it was unclear what happens from 3-5 or if they technically closed.. Our server made up for it by offering free dessert! We got the dark chocolate tart, which was delicious and a very generous serving size. When it came to pay, the check arrived and we were told to scan to pay on our phone. I personally hate doing this, and we were told this was the only option.. Despite this, I definitely want to return to try their dinner menu! Food was very good.

Michelle G.

Yelp
Hands down the best plant based restaurant I've ever had. The atmosphere is clean soft earth colors , yurt as restaurant, soft music in background, cool seating with pillows or benches. Mission statement is epic love love love. Prices are very fair for fresh farmed foods. Michele, our waitress was super sweet. She recommended the biscuits and gravy (fried tofu) and Shepard pie (wild lentils and rice with veggies). Chef surprised us with Moosh Boosh for palate starter-spicy cucumber mint with strawberry on top and tangerine oil. The soda was probably healthiest ingredient based I've ever had and tasty. I am already excited to come back so I can try other times on menu.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a light afternoon snack and we enjoyed what we had! It wasn't much but we will definitely come back! We had the Chronic. It's a lion mane mushroom crab, spicy tuna and avocado, tempura fried topped with spicy mayo and a sweet and spicy citrus. The texture is different from those of other sushi. By the way it's all vegetarian and not that spicy. The restaurant was like being in a yurt which was cool. The service was friendly and engaging.

Steve S.

Yelp
Had to find out what all the trending talk was about at the Plot in Costa Mesa. We were greeted with a smile and promptly seated. We asked our waiter Javi to recommend some of their best dishes and without hesitation he suggested the following: The Chilaquiles had a nice kick with all the flavors you'd expect from Chilaquiles. The chicken and waffles w/maple syrup really hit the spot. The kimchi spam bowl exotic with a crispy surprise in every bite. My favorite was the patty melt. I thought it was amazing. Javi really suggested winning dishes and was so welcoming... you just can't wait to go back. Ambiance was trendy and happening. Service fantastic!

Michael H.

Yelp
Omnivore here! This joint is some of the best, most creative food I've had in a while. We had a special that was a celery root veggie bowl that blew my mind. The red lentil "spam" was better than Spam spam! I can't wait to come back!

Cecille B.

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant in Orange County, hands down. From patient, friendly, and knowledgeable servers, to the occasion gift from the chef in the form of a sample dish like pickles, to the delicious and decadent and fresh food, The Plot is best thing in the world. The menu items rotate based on season and the chef's new ideas. The hot tea is served as fresh whole leaves in a teapot. The coffee is served in your own French press. Every time we come, our server recommends a different dish for "next time." So the next time we come, we try that dish and we love it. And that new server encourages us to try ANOTHER dish! We go consecutive days at a time and we love it.

Yelp
speaking as a non vegan/vegetarian, i was impressed with how much i enjoyed the food. yes, you can tell that it's veg/vegan, and yes the textures are kinda mushy, but boy do they deliver on the flavors! this place is lofty and airy, and feels so spacious. theres plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! the staff were all so friendly and attentive and didn't rush us, even when they were getting ready for dinner service. we were also told this restaurant is zero waste, which is awesome! we ordered the patty melt, which had a rice and lentil "patty", caramelized onions, and some sort of jammy spread. the "patty" itself didn't have much flavor, it kind of reminded me of refried beans in taste and texture. the caramelized onions are on the sweeter side, which i didn't like as much, but some may. the bread was toasted to perfection and had a nice crispness. the fries to me were so good, thick cut, salted nicely, served with a beet (?) ketchup which i didnt like as much. the breakfast sando was in my opinion the better of the two. the bun was nice and soft. the "egg" was of unknown ingredients but it was delicious, tasted kind of like a curry? maybe? the tomato and pickled onions inside were a nice contrast to the flavor bomb "egg". it came with a interesting side salad, but not really my jam.

Ashwini A.

Yelp
SERVICE - located in the CAMP shopping area near the LAB - parking can be difficult especially over the weekend - indoor and outdoor seating - plenty of tables open on weekend afternoon - indoor space is well lit and decor is plant themed - servers are very friendly and helpful MENU - plant forward variety of brunch and dinner dishes - all vegan, gluten free options marked - average price ($16 per entree) FOOD - patty melt with fries (9/10): wild rice and lentil patty sandwiched between two slices of crusty bread with melty cheese, mushrooms, and served with a side of fries and onion jam. This was our favorite dish. It is hearty but does not leave you feeling heavy. There is a strong umami punch from the mushrooms and patty which is offset by the creamy cheese. The onion jam is also an unexpected alternative to traditional ketchup. A must order for weekend brunch. - chilaquiles (8/10): tortilla chips smothered in roasted chili salsa, tomatoes, beans, queso fresco, and cilantro. Our server recommended this as one of the best sellers from the menu and I could definitely see why. The flavors were perfectly balanced between the spicy salsa and the creamy cheese. I was not expecting the tiny beans as most places would put black beans but this worked well. It makes a great dish to share with friends. - beet benedict (7/10): three gluten free biscuits topped with roasted beetroot and covered in coconut hollandaise sauce. This was one of the daily specials and recommended by our server. It was a unique and visually stunning dish with the contrast between the red beets and yellow sauce. I appreciated how the default biscuit was gluten free and it did not have an odd aftertaste. The sauce was very coconutty. - French toast (5/10): three slices of battered sourdough toast covered in strawberry sauce and served with a side of maple syrup. This was another one of the specials for the day we went. I liked the texture of the bread and the slight eggy flavor that it had absorbed. It was a good dish to share but I felt like it could become overly sweet on its own. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The food and ambience were fantastic.

Jami A.

Yelp
Excellent vegan food- biscuits and gravy are the best! Amazing and attentive service! Will definitely go back again!

Amber D.

Yelp
Came here last night with the bf and I had never heard of them. He's been to the Oceanside location and said it was a really good place. I like the rustic decor of the place. We were seated quickly even though we didn't have reservations. We were given a sample to taste since it's a new establishment here. We ordered the truffle fries to start, and then had the "meatloaf" and the "biscuits and gravy." Everything was delicious. I was really surprised how flavorful everything was. The texture of the chicken I assume was extra firm tofu as it didn't give off the texture of vegan chicken that I've had at other places. We really enjoyed the entire experience and plan to come back in the near future.

chelsea d.

Yelp
This was the best meal we had while in CA, so glad we stopped here before the airport. The truffle fries were SO GOOD. I had the beat Reuben and it was fresh and tasty. My kids finally ate. Our server Carissa was super accomodating and patient. She had a nice way about her unlike many of the cliche snotty servers we get in Seattle. The restaurant is modern and fresh. So so glad we popped in.

Kerry M.

Yelp
This place should be soo much busier for how good the food is!! Delicious, flavorful, and satisfying! Plus, the restaurant is super cute and the staff are all awesome. I'll be back!

David C.

Yelp
Amazing food and Wonderful service! We have eaten at the Plot in Oceanside and loved love it...we are so happy that they opened one at The Camp on Bristol across from the Lab. It's all completely Vegan and they have many gluten free options as well. They are happy to explain the dishes to you. And what goes into the delicious food most of it is locally grown and organic but it's all plant-based clean and delicious. I know it sounds funny but you can actually taste the love in every bite. It's that good. The plot is adorable and funky, very hip. It's like eating in a big tent yurt there is also outdoor seating with heaters, which is fun for people watching. You must try the Chezzy Truffle Fries the "sushi" and the chicken and biscuits if you want something a little heavier! Whatever you order I'm sure you'll enjoy you can't go wrong. I've been back twice now since they've opened this location. The plot is the place it's totally worth dealing with a busy parking lot. Get there early and make reservations.

Angela E.

Yelp
I have been to The Plot in Oceanside and was so excited to hear that they were opening a second location in Costa Mesa. I love visiting the Camp so the location is perfect in my mind, surrounded by similarly minded businesses. The restaurant is light and airy with a big outdoor patio. I loved the benches with pillows that made for a very "come and stay" vibe. I met a friend here for Sunday brunch and we were both extremely impressed. The servers were all very friendly and knowledgeable, providing great food recommendations. I had the Bfast Sando which was delicious - a great egg alternative made with chickpeas and tofu. My friend had the Patty melt with fries and thoroughly enjoyed it. Tried the alcohol-free riesling and Paloma and found them both light and refreshing. Will definitely return to enjoy a meal off of the regular menu.

Michelle L.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to try the plot now that it's finally open in the old Native Foods location in the camp. Overall super happy to have another vegan restaurant although this one is more upscale and dine in for sure - 4.5 stars. We ordered the cheesy truffle fries, the polenta, chorizo, biscuits, and gravy, and the banana, crème brûlée. The server first brought a tasting from the chef, which was a little bowl with a mushroom in it with some sauce. My friend said she really liked it. I don't like mushroom so I let her have mine. For the cheesy truffle fries both of us had a different expectation of what these would look like and expected more cheese sauce, but very much enjoyed what we got. They also asked if we wanted beet ketchup and that was really lovely and had a really bright flavor. The fries had a nice crispiness to them and felt luxurious. I very much enjoyed the polenta chorizo. The polenta had some herbs in it, and I overall liked the flavor and appreciated the broccolini on top. My friend got the biscuits and gravy and she really liked it. I got to try a little bit and thought it was good as well. I was reluctant to order it myself because it says chicken, but the chicken is a tofu base and was super delicious texture wise. Banana crème brûlée wasn't overall too heavy on the banana flavor. Both my friend and I agreed that we thought it was really good texture and taste wise. It has kind of a crispy top similar to a crème brûlée, but overall is more of a thick, solid texture than a traditional crème brûlée. Overall, I really liked the food The server said they might be starting brunch service at some point so I'm excited to see what that looks like. After looking at the menu for drinks, we had some questions for the staff and they were somewhat helpful although it was a little confusing sometimes what they were trying to say about the drinks we had had questions about, but I know it's their first week, so giving them some grace here. They just opened so the staff is still getting used to the flow of everything as well as using the devices that they take the orders on. Knowing this I gave five stars since I know it takes some time for staff to get trained, etc.. Inside they have really made it sleek and modern in comparison to how it was decorated before they've made it much more comfortable to sit in terms of not being squished. They have a bench around the outside wall which makes it much more comfortable to sit at. While it is a small location, they did a good job of making it feel like you have enough space. The one thing I will say is at least the two person table felt a little small in terms of the number of plates they brought us. I think the server are still learning, but they need to take the extra plates away sooner rather than later, because there isn't that much room on the table. We went on a Friday night, and the camp is notoriously awful for parking. It took me 15 minutes to find parking just driving around the lot. The camp used to have complementary valet, especially on weekends and I wish they would bring that back because parking is a disaster here. However, my friend did get lucky. She said she was able to park within the first few minutes.

Yelp
Came here for the first time to celebrate our mom's birthday dinner. We tried to make a reservation for 8 and they didn't really have an opening online. We tried to call them Multiple time when they opened but after an hour was able to get hold of them and they were able to accommodate us in the evening. Our mom is a vegan so it's nice to have a place that is fully vegan. Service is great since we walked in. I can't recall the names of our host and server but they were extremely friendly and the host, he was the nicest person. Even though he's a host he helped us a lot with food running, pre bussing the table, refilling our water, and even setting us up for desserts. We did share everything and did family style. We ordered the grilled cabbage, crab cake, truffle cheese fries, the chronic, biscuits and gravy, chopped kale cesar salad, polenta and chorizo, yuzu yam, carrotfish and chip, and the shepard pie. Wish i took photos of them but only was able to take a photo of the amuse bouche! Everything came out quickly. I do recommend the carrotfish and chip, biscuits and gravy and the cesar salad. Yuzu yam was good just on the heavier side. We tried the banana creme brulee but wasn't as great as it sounded. We would definitely come back again

Yelp
Dear Yelp Community, Tried this place for the first time recently. Good options on the menu, and they have multiple versions...since the weekend, I received the weekend brunch menu and ordered the "sausage" and biscuits. Enjoy! Sincerely, Anna

Cynthia K.

Yelp
I had the Toast fight from the Saturday and Sunday brunch menu which was delicious. 2 savory and one sweet. Innovative and scrumptious. I usually don't like fake meat dishes at all vegan place but the chicken and waffles just walked by and I'm coming back for them. My waiter Christain was a good doctor/guru. Informative and and Kind. Loved him. Returning for sure.

Denise S.

Yelp
Completely enjoyed our first experience at The Plot. We went on a Sunday and selected from their brunch menu. The warm welcome, prompt service with recommendations and amazing food will definitely bring us back to this gem often.

Brissy B.

Yelp
I love coming here. This is one of my favorite box now. Food is great. Service is fast and friendly ambience is cute and romantic bomb.

David R.

Yelp
What a wonderful discovery! My daughter and I were enjoying our day in Costa Mesa and ventured over to The Camp (anti mall). We came across a cluster of mailboxes and opened the door labeled The Plot and scanned the QR code which pulled up their menu. We were so impressed with the welcome and warm greeting by the hostess and server. The server enthusiastically introduced us to the menu and the background of the restaurant, at our request. My daughter enjoys vegetarian cuisine and I look for gluten-free options. We ordered the meatless loaf with sides that complemented the main dish deliciously! We can't wait to return. We love the ambiance, decor and friendly staff and environment. Give them a try, enjoy an adventure in flavor and fun, and explore The Camp while you're there.

Chantalle J.

Yelp
I've had better vegan experiences. The waitresses were nice but the food quality was less than appealing. The shepherds pie and meatloaf dishes tasted almost identical. The pictures look better than how they tasted.

Ethan W.

Yelp
Not that great.. small portions considering the price. Picked up a togo order and the made me the wrong salad, cale instead romaine which I wasn't too stoked on. The chocolate mouse is like two bites as well. Not sure if I would go back, I miss native foods

The Plot is absolutely lovely! Sat on the outdoor patio. The interior and exterior are beautifully appointed everyone carries a nice, peaceful vibe which is exactly what I needed. The choices are plentiful and varied, and for those that eat vegan you know sometimes that is not the case. I got the sausage and biscuits and it is beautifully non-traditionally, the perfect mix of salty and sweet, and filling! Also had a beer while I enjoyed the sun and vibe. Looking forward to going back again and again!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in OC. Everything is delicious and beautifully displayed.

Yelp
I had the carrot tacos and it had all the flavors of a perfectly done fish taco. I also had the tofu chicken caprese sandwich which my friend didn't think sounded exciting because it's tofu. But the tofu was the first restaurant that I've ever seen that actually marinated the INSIDE of the tofu. I loved it. And the staff was very Ahimsa. I felt really good after eating here. Will be back!

Yelp
the plot is my favorite!!! I loved their green goddess salad with added chicken (tofu). The dressing is outstanding and the tofu is always cooked perfectly. I also ordered the pozole (soup of the day) and chocolate mouse. You can't go wrong with ANYTHING on this menu. The location is also so cool and different. My server was Carissa and she was outstanding - provided me with great recommendations and was so attentive. This restaurant is A MUST - whether you are completely vegan or a carnivore, I can bet my life savings that you will love this restaurant!

Yelp
Of course we are disappointed to see Native Foods no long at The Camp but it's comforting that the location was replaced by another vegan restaurant. The Plot was really good. We were greeted by Christian who was very knowledgeable about the menu and gladly told us about the restaurant and their values.. zero waste, no single use plastics and their own compost. Monday night is Sushi night so we tried the nigiri sampler platter, the chatted broccolini and the Japanese pancake. Then we shared the carrot fish and chips. SO TASTY! I felt like I was in England. The carrot fish had a slight malt vinegar taste that was excellent. We loved the food and can't wait to try more dishes and the brunch. The dessert was just ok but between the service and all the unique and great food we give it 5 stars

Yelp
I am not vegan but I do love vegan food. I am always on the look out for restaurants that make vegetables taste amazing and the plot does just that! We came in on a rainy Monday for lunch. We were seated immediately. Ambiance is very earthy and comfortable. The booth seats felt like memory foam, I could sit there forever!! The wait staff were friendly and helpful. We started with the cheesy truffle fries which were delicious! I'm a sucker for a thick fry, these were perfect size and I love that they left the skin on. The cheesy sauce had a lot of flavor and there was just the right amount of truffle. The beet Reuben sandwich was so good! The bread was divine, the beets and sauerkraut made this sandwich super yummy! Lastly we tried the carrot fish sandwich. I wasn't sure what to expect from the carrot fish but man was it good. The carrots are tempura battered, there was a slice of heirloom yellow tomato, a green sauce and an amazing bun. The one and only thing I did not like was the potato salad. I have a weird aversion to raw bell peppers and theirs has it! The carrot fish was my favorite but honestly I could come back for either one! I can't wait to try more of their menu.

Yelp
I so badly wanted to fall in love with this restaurant. And I still think I could with the dinner or brunch menu but lunch wasn't great. The carrot tacos were a soggy, flavorless mess (some avocado might have helped). The Rueben was soggy and one note. The truffle fries were soggy. Sensing a theme...the kimchi spam bowl was the only thing our table enjoyed! And I will say it's definitely not kid friendly. The only ketchup they have is their house made beet ketchup, a tough sell for a 9-year old. The open faced pizza focaccia on the kids menu was not anything any kid I know would enjoy. Beautiful restaurant and great service but the food was a disappointment. I still really want to support them bc I love the values they espouse but I won't be back for lunch.

Yelp
The food was good l, the service excellent but we didn't know that was a vegan restaurant so we didn't know what to order. Even though we diced to stay at the restaurant, the server was really helpful and de experience was great. Was quiet and peaceful the restaurant wasn't busy so we have a good time trying different and healthy food.

Yelp
the place is small but cute and quaint. staff was very nice and helpful. our stepdad is a meat eater and not being so nice to the staff about vegan food, but our poor server deflected his criticism well. so sorry to her if she sees this! the cheese fries were delicious but wish the potatoes were crispier. the brussel sprouts special was a great appetizer with different flavors and textures. we got the Shepards pie, biscuits & gravy, & mushroom pasta special. the entrees were very salty. it was kind of disappointing. the entrees didn't have a variety of texture and flavor. the desserts tasted very healthy? it wasn't really my cup of tea. overall the ambiance and service was excellent but i wish the food was a little more crafted. for a place that has a lot of mushroom decor, there was not a lot of mushroom plates.

Yelp
The Plot is one of the BEST vegan restaurant in Orange County. Everything is organic, they grown their own food and they make everything in house. The food taste spectacular and it's made with so much love. You won't be disappointed even if you are not vegan. We brought our friend who is a meat eater and he absolutely LOVED it. It's own by this cute couple who are very sweet and the staff is super friendly and you feel like home. The prices are not inexpensive but you are paying for quality food and you would nourish your body and soul. It's definitely a culinary experience that you don't want to miss! ;)
