Where to Eat at John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) - Eater NY

"Rooftop Pool Bar is a bar at the rooftop observation deck, which overlooks a busy runway, serving aviation-themed drinks like the “Quickie Vacation,” made with vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, lime, and Prosecco. Poolside fare includes flatbread pizzas and a hummus platter. It is only open to hotel guests or to the public with a day-pass." - Eater Staff

An Inside Look at The TWA Hotel at JFK Airport in NYC - AFAR

"A rooftop infinity‑edge pool and bar look directly over a major runway, letting guests watch takeoffs while swimming or sipping cocktails; inspired by famed French seaside hotels, the space can be very windy, is open to hotel guests from early morning until late evening (approximately 7 a.m.–11 p.m.), and accepts non‑guest reservations for swim‑and‑sip sessions during daytime hours." - Lyndsey Matthews

JFK Airport’s New Bar-Packed TWA Terminal Sounds Absolutely Bonkers - Eater NY

"The reboot includes a 63-by-20-foot infinity pool that overlooks ... the JFK runway. It’ll be open 365 days a year, located on a 10,000-square-foot observation deck over one of the airport’s busiest runways — an anxious flyer’s nightmare. Drinks like the “Mile High Spritz,” made with vodka, St.-Germain elderflower liqueur, lime, and Prosecco will be on tap, as will food, though menus haven’t been finalized yet. The Gerber Group, which also runs Mr. Purple and Taco Electrico in NYC, will operate the spot." - Carla Vianna

I’ve been to the pool bar 3 times now and I always enjoy my experience. We got day passes this visit and were able to enjoy drinks, snacks and get loungers too! The drinks are simple but enjoyable. We ate the nachos, turkey club, chicken tenders and the fried chicken sliders and liked them all. The sliders were flat out tasty, way better than they need to be at a hotel pool bar. Sessions are currently 105 min each and we did 11-12:45. And 1-2:45. We were able to get loungers both times which really made it enjoyable to relax & drink at the pool. If you have a long layover at jfk, it’s def worth a visit. The planes aren’t too noisy, it’s more like a constant white noise in the background. And it doesn’t smell like jet fuel, which my friend sarcastically asked. The hotel is beautiful and the pool is great, I’ll happily visit again when my friends have a long layover and need to kill some time.

Would never go back. I found the place old, the “changing rooms” (accessible toilets really) smelled of urine, the pool was overcrowded and the water didn’t seem clean at all. There were children shrieking and couples about to make love in the pool. No showers afterwards. The only nice thing was the view of the planes taking off/landing from the pool but I wouldn’t pay $50 again for that.

Google
It’s incredible how much the staff of this place holds its customers in utter contempt. Many of the staff members were just plain rude. The water was also ridiculously hot. It’s a shame because this is a cool concept and could be terrific if done well.

Google
Concession stand quality food at best, and not worth the price. Sliders were burnt and had barely anything on them. The pool was full of kids splashing and spitting water, gross.

Google
Had a great solo experience here. Service was courteous and professional. It's a bit pricey but both food and drinks were good. The pool seem a little crowded at one point but i still had a good time. Valet parking is expensive too.

Google
THE PARKING $$$ :0 Ok so 50$ for visiting the pool is a lot but manageable for a night out once in a while. But nobody is talking about the parking which can cost you $60 if you stay over 2 hours and $45 FOR TWO HOURS. So make sure you got that sorted, use the shuttle or something.

Yelp
My husband is a big aviation enthusiast so I thought coming here would be a cute date idea. I booked us an 1:45h at the pool through resort pass and paid around $55 per person. I highly recommend arriving at the hotel ahead of time and exploring the beautiful location. The hotel is quite a sight to behold- packed with TWA history, designed in that beautiful retro aesthetic, and a lovely reminder of the golden age of flying. Walking around the hotel and exploring the gift shop might have been my highlight. At the pool, they're pretty strict about the timing and the lobby got pretty crowded right before the scheduled time. The pools itself is relatively small, warm, and shallow. We got some IPAs on tap (around $10 each), hung out in the pool, and watched the planes. I was a bit surprised but the overall crowd there. Lots of families with splashing children and people that really just seemed to want to be by a pool and didn't care about that specific location. Didn't necessarily expect so many people to spend money and come all the way to JFK without caring for planes but ofc that's up to them. Just something to keep in mind if you choose to come here. They also don't have changing rooms so you might want to wear your swim clothes or you'll have to change in the bathroom. I would give the hotel a 6/5 and the pool a 3/5. Would love to come back in winter for their apres ski chalet as I think the location is unbeatable.

Yelp
I brought my Mother here for a fun day out. To use the pool, it cost $50 for an hour and 45 min. Per person. The pool is heated nicely and it's fun to watch the planes. I would not recommend buying food at the pool bar. It was not great and thrown in plastic containers. The cocktail the bartender made was very nice. Cocktails are $17 each. The parking after the 3 hour total was $68. It was unique, but not worth the $$$

Yelp
They thought of everything. It's winter in New York and they have the bar enclosed and set up like Aspen in the 1960s. They thought of everything and made it so cute. They even included a wood burning stove. Drinks were good and they were food here. I had the sliders. They were good nothing over the top but satisfying. The pool was heated and was awesome. It overlooks terminal 5 and the runway. Definitely a hangout for those who plane spot or want cool pictures.

Yelp
I have never met a steak sandwich that I did not like. Until last night. Ordered this from the menu and fries, about $20. Could not eat the steak sandwich. It tasted like something was wrong with it. Didn't want to chance it so didn't even eat it. Would not recommend this place at least not the steak sandwich.

Yelp
Pricing as a HOTEL GUEST May 26 through October 31: I am listing the prices because it is integral to this review. $25 PER PERSON for Admission to the pool and observation deck, towels, seating for dining at The Pool Bar $15 PER PERSON for admission to just dining at The Pool Bar which requires $50 minimum and 20% gratuity $10 PER PERSON to just observe ... if you are a hotel guest imagine not even being able to walk through part of the hotel... it costs $10 to walk through! I could not find it anywhere on the website describing the prices other than the $25 reservation. I went here in the winter season and there were no fees, but eating at the bar they forgot our cheesecake.

Yelp
I came here quite a bit during the peak of covid and the service and food was actually much better back then. The chicken Ceasar wrap I got tonight was a joke. Served in a box like a school lunch. Little flavor and crushed potato chips. Only two taps available when they have four taps. At least try to phone it in. The view is 5 stars! Come up and enjoy the view. Skip the one star food!

Yelp
I entered the pool/ observation deck, walked over to the bar, ordered a $18 drink and then was told I had to leave the area immediately, a new group of people were to use the area. Apparently I was not allowed to use the area, but no one was there to stop me, until they saw me at the bar. They really couldn't let me finish my drink? SERIOUSLY??????? I ended up drinking my cocktail in the elevator, what fun is that? They were not very nice, I am very disappointed in their customer service.

Yelp
Yes, it's a rooftop bar, but temper your expectations. Cocktails aren't terribly priced at $16 a pop, but they add up. And if you don't get there right at open, then kiss your chance of getting a beach chair goodbye. And yes, it's technically an infinity pool, but it's like 4 feet deep and 6 feet across. That said, where else can you watch planes take off and land with a drink in your hand? Everyone who works here is super nice (especially Johanna). They also serve food, but we didn't have any. Come Fly with Me and Jet Fuel were both really good cocktails. Beers are $9 each, which isn't the worst. Access to the bar is free if you're paying for a room (at $300 a night, it damn well better be), but you can also pay for access. No big bags allowed (due to Port Authority restrictions), but they have free coat check. Oh, and free cantaloupe pineapple spa water! No cash!

Yelp
A superb unique spot situated on the roof ("8th floor") of the new TWA Hotel (formerly Terminal 5 as seen in retro movies of New York). This winter they have transformed into a Ski Chalet perfect for aprés ski activities which of course includes games, a "fireplace", decor and heated Infinity pool overlooking the runway. The 3 sided Bar is well run and the kitchen is fine. I suggest the cocktail specials ($15/16) over the regular drinks which start at $18 or so. Solid Moscow Mule here and other nice twists in solid plastic cups and highball decanters. Menus to be posted in photos. Fondue seemed alright but the burger and fries filled us up. Staff is very attentive and the red ski chalet decor is solid. Pratt guy designed them and it works well. Only sad thing... the fireplace in the middle is just for show. Security is key here - everything must go in clear tote bags - you are after all literally above the runway and readying planes. No charge for bag check or a tip jar - but give that guy your gratitude. Are you going to dip in the pool? The faraway Health Club isn't probably worth it for a shower but the 4 individual bathrooms serve well enough along with the red/white towel service. See the photos and judge for yourself for this corner of the unique and lovely TWA hotel. More meaningful to me because I'm last came here when it was a real TWA terminal in the '70s and '80s..... TWA you're gonna like us! TWA!

Yelp
Roof top pool + bar + food! Why not?! Great views of all the planes from here while enjoying a drink or bite to eat. Awesome but tinny Infinity pool to cool off in on a hot day. Lots of area to stand and watch the planes around the pool and bar area. The bartenders are super friendly and hospitable. Go to Andrés, he is great!

Yelp
This is THE best spot at JFK for plane spotting. The infinity pool was heated to 95 degrees! Had lunch at the bar which was rather expensive and average, but staff was super friendly and views were priceless. If you are aviation enthusiast, this is the place!

Yelp
So nyc has so many things and then some things that are always missing....a public heated spool space has always been one. Good luck trying to find a place to dip in nyc if you ain't that. I will say the service in the lobby sucked. There are several old school dressed TWA employees at the front but they can't actually help you with anything. The plane and pool bars are awesome!! Something different especially if you're traveling in or out of JFK. We made friends coming back to NYC just hanging at the bar. Cool thing to visit!

Yelp
Winter Chalet Opening Weekend Review: Pool was not heated, was at about 50 degrees even though all promotional material advertised that the pool would be heated to 90 degrees and above all weekend. The pool was the biggest draw for my group. I traveled over an hour to treat my friend for her birthday and we were not able to use the pool. Drinks were pricey and skimpy. My Margarita glass was only filled 3/4. I spoke to the bartender and he told me it was just the liquid to glass ratio. Every other drink I saw being served seemed like it was a full pour. Drinks are $16-20 so I would have liked a full drink for that price. Fondue was watery but the accompaniments were fresh and there was a good selection. The charcuterie board had a nice selection. Staff was great. I'm just disappointed that management did not address the pool heating issues especially after promo material emphasized the heating.

Yelp
TWA Hotel's Pool Bar sits on the roof of the hotel overlooking some of the runways of JFK. The pool is fairly small but has a sizeable number of lounge chairs. You can see the runways in the distance, but they aren't exactly "right in front" as the bar advertises, instead, there are some parked planes in front of aircraft hangars. The sound is not bad, you can hear the roar of the planes but it is not distracting or painful or anything. The whole place does look like it wasn't planned too well -- there is a distinct "concrete maintenance roof" vibe that the place attempts to break with bright beach towels and bar seating...if the attempt is successful seems to be up to you. Of course, the biggest issue is that if you are not a hotel guest, there is a $25 day pass charge to access the pool AND bar, which seems a bit ridiculous (the BAR has an entrance fee??) and not at all worth the price.

Yelp
Amazing venue!!!!! Had such a great time with my family. The manager Ivan was so accommodating. The Jet Fuel was the recommended drink and it was phenomenal! Will definitely return and recommend everyone give this place a try.

Yelp
Heard a lot of mixed things about this spot; and sad to say they all are true. Very disappointed with the service from the staff; and just general lack of hospitality; especially from the female hostess. As a guest of the hotel; to come and not even be able to get a space to enjoy the pool because the take restaurant reservations over hotel guests; it creates such a bad experience. They should have the restaurant as a separate space; and the pool should guest use only. Or create enough space for the pool experience so everyone. So much wasted floor space in design; a lot of space goes completely unused which could have more chairs.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a table and was charged $50 each for two hours. As a plane lover I found the place to be great. The view of terminal 4, and all of the international planes was great. You could definitely see planes landing and taking off too. Bring a nice camera with you! Lots of bird action late afternoons! The only complaint we had was that they built tip into the bill, meaning that there was really no motivation for service to be great. We waited a while to even get menus, cutting into the 2 hours.

Yelp
it a bar next to a rooftop view, you can see a bit of the runway, drinks are ok, the food is meh!

Yelp
My bf and I went to the Pool Bar last night. What a great idea.....the view of the runways and planes was amazing. The service was wonderful. The bartender and the waitresses were spot on. They were very nice and accommodating. My drink, the summertime lemonade was delicious and my bf's beer was nice and cold. We ordered the fruit platter and it was perfect. We are looking forward to returning soon. We did not use the pool so I cannot review that, but it looked like there were plenty of people enjoying it.
