"If you’re under the impression nothing can drown out your toddler’s hell-shattering scream, try a 747 flying overhead. The Proud Bird is an LAX-adjacent food hall (don’t worry, you don’t have to enter the airport to eat here) featuring six different vendors including Bludso’s BBQ, plus stalls serving cocktails, teriyaki bowls, pizza, and more. On top of several decommissioned fighter planes your kid can gawk at, they can also burn off some of that energy at the full outdoor play area complete with slides, tunnels, and the muffling roar of nearby airplanes." - garrett snyder, brant cox, cathy park
"It’s important to be straightforward about one thing: Food is the secondary attraction at Westchester’s food hall Proud Bird. Sure, there’s barbecue sold under the Bludso’s name, which is good enough if not quite as good as the original, and also rotisserie chicken, burgers, and pizza. But the reason most parents are here is not the food court and its mercilessly long single line (only the bar counter takes orders for each stall) — it’s the massive playground right outside its doors. Regulars know to have someone wait to order food while the kids let out some energy on the jungle gym before eating." - Eater Staff

"Living close to the airport, I finally visited this aviation-themed food hall and events space for a family birthday and it proved a big hit with the under-10 crowd: kids loved frolicking on the huge astroturf area or the playground while massive jumbo jets land a half-mile away. The food was better than needed for the setting, with hefty double cheeseburgers and fried chicken and waffles big enough to share, and I was pleased to see Bludso’s Barbecue among the vendors — the smoked meats aren’t quite as good as the preparations at Bludso’s on La Brea and in Santa Monica, but they’re perfectly adequate for this kind of venue. For larger groups seeking an easy, truly kid-friendly gathering spot that can be catered to, I can’t think of an easier option in Los Angeles." - Eater Staff
