I like to do my little research about a place before I tried it out. The Rabbit's Foot has great reviews. The inside is super cute and relaxing. It has a small market on the side with huge variety of wines, liquor, and chili oils. In some of the reviews/photos, it looked like they have local snacks, such as dips and sauces, and desserts for a nice at-home charcuterie. I had high expectations and it became my downfall. I really wanted to like this place, maybe I just went in on a bad time and day.
I ordered the chicken salad sandwich(no lettuce), the Cuban sandwich, caramel latte with house pecan milk($7), and truffle chips($9). The chicken salad sandwich($9) was dressed with housemade pickles and bits of pecan for that nice crunch factor. It was on a brioche bun, which was nice and fluffy. They definitely filled the sandwich up with chicken salad, because a lot of it was falling from my sandwich.
My boyfriend had the Cuban($11) with no pickles. The bread was so burnt. No matter how much you scrape it off, it still tasted burnt. The pickles weren't taken out as well so it marinated in the meat and cheese. All we taste was pickles and burnt toast. We tried washing it down with water, coffee, and chips. We couldn't get that taste off our tongue. We don't normally complain but it wasn't edible. The workers were nice and remade the Cuban sandwich for us. The second time was a little bit better. It wasn't burnt on both side, only one side this time. I don't think they clean the grill properly. The chicken salad sandwich wasn't toasted, so it wasn't affected.
For a $43 meal , it wasn't worth the experience for me. Both sandwiches didn't come with a side. The Cuban, even after it was remade, was mediocre. It could be because our tastebuds were already damage from the first sandwich. The place has such great reviews and other pictures of the Cuban look amazing! Maybe it was just a rough day for the workers. I'll try again in a few months. The truffle oil chip is the best I ever ate. It was better than Trader Joe's version. The pecan milk was lightly nutty and perfect substitute for someone who is lactose intolerant.
