Step into the Red Pavilion, a dazzling Bushwick enclave blending a Chinese teahouse vibe by day with sultry cabaret and vibrant nightlife by night.
"Lily bulb, hawthorn berry, and coix seeds are more likely relegated to a Chinatown herbal shop than a Bushwick nightclub and restaurant. Yet ingredients like these on a Traditional Chinese Medicine menu shares the stage at the Red Pavilion. Look for jazz and cabaret for weekend early sets and DJs later." - Paul Schrodt, Alexandra Ilyashov, Eater Staff
"Red Pavilion is a Chinese teahouse by day, a neo-noir fever dream at night, and on the third Sunday of every month, the most entertaining dim sum parlor in town. They serve their dumplings and chicken feet the traditional way, making the rounds with a pushcart of steam baskets. The divas themselves, Shia Ho, Felicia Oh, and Angel Au do drag as alien superstars with some of the best looks in the scene. Sometimes they invite queer Asian icons from around the world, like Corazon from Drag Race Philippines. Dim Sum Divas starts at 3pm, late in the day enough for their vast selection of Chinese teas to erase the rest of your hangover. You’ll need to pre-purchase a $20 ticket online. " - Neha Talreja
"A neo-noir fever dream awaits you at this Chinese teahouse and nightclub in Bushwick. It’s a 1920s Shanghai saloon in here, awash with red light and a mystical fog. On Fridays, a jazz band takes the stage in a scene straight out of a War Kong Wai film. Some nights, you’ll get an aerial show or lusty cabaret, all of which eventually turn into a loud after-hours party with danceable tunes from a DJ booth. During the day, they serve Chinese-medicine inspired cocktails and dim sum, but the food isn't quite as magical as the space, unless you add some Dim Sum Divas to the deal at their drag brunch." - Neha Talreja
"The new restaurant with a focus on TCM ingredients will open at 1241 Flushing Avenue, at Ingraham Street, in Bushwick, Brooklyn; a Chinese teahouse by day and a club at night, Red Pavilion serves TCM-infused dishes and drinks like lotus leaf-wrapped sticky rice, chicken bone broth, and sesame cocktails against a lush red Wong Kar-Wai-inspired backdrop." - Caroline Shin
