Best Restaurants in Napa Valley | Eater SF

"There’s something quintessentially Napa about the North Block hotel and its pristine, perpetually busy restaurant. Currently, executive chef Juan Cabrera is offering a 5-course Valley to Coast tasting menu for $90, which does not reinvent the wheel but rather does well-known staples extremely well — think spring pasta with morels and peas, abalone with passion fruit, and a NY strip with shallot marmalade. By Napa standards, it’s value for money in a slick setting. Reservations are available on OpenTable." - Flora Tsapovsky

The Best Brunches in Napa Valley | Eater SF

"The Restaurant at North Block’s seafood focus is in place at brunch, which is served daily on the patio or in the cozy dining room inside the eponymously named hotel. Avocado toast is topped with Dungeness crab; a seafood platter arrives with oysters, clams, abalone, and prawns; and a poke bowl bridges the transition between breakfast and lunch. For traditionalists, Journeyman Meat Company’s coppa replaces sausage on a breakfast sandwich and house-made zeppoli can be ordered in trios." - Christina Mueller

The 16 Best Restaurants In Yountville

"The charred pizzas and craft cocktails are the stars at this casual spot inside the North Block Hotel. Whether you post up at the bar for drinks, or lounge on the patio around the fireplace, with new wave tunes playing and bird murals and Edison bulbs flying overhead, this is a nice alternative to the fancier restaurants Yountville is known for. We love the margarita and the potato pizza with Point Reyes toma cheese and bacon, and we usually add in a chicory salad and a few of the excellent ribs, which you can order by the piece. Wow! Was here for my birthday last Sunday. Did the tasting menu w wine pairings. The food was nothing short or amazing. The wine pairings were perfection! My favorite was the gnocchi dish w peas - they made it taste so smoky- and this dish unlike another wasn’t even smoking!! The service was amazing- the setting was beautiful. They were v kind to my service dog. I can’t believe they only have 2 Michelin stars. Thank you to the chef and staff for making it a memorable birthday meal🤗🙏

One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. We came for the Spring Tasting Menu and every single course was a standout — beautifully plated, balanced, and full of unexpected flavors that worked together perfectly. From the first bite to the last, we were genuinely impressed by the creativity and attention to detail. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday, and the staff made the evening feel truly special. The service was warm, thoughtful, and perfectly timed — never rushed, but always attentive. The team made sure we felt cared for without being overbearing, and they even added a few personal touches that made the celebration even more meaningful. The venue itself is absolutely stunning — elegant without being pretentious, with a relaxed, welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place you want to come back to again and again. North Block delivered on every level, and we left already talking about when we can return. Five stars, without hesitation.

I’m not sure why this restaurant doesn’t have more recognition, but I highly recommend dining at North Block. We tried the Spring Tasting menu and the wine pairing. Normally, I find a few dishes I don’t enjoy on almost every tasting menu, but each course at NB was absolutely delicious and beautifully plated. My boyfriend doesn’t even like gnocchi, abalone, lemon desserts (all items on the menu), but even he was agreed it was one of the best tasting menus we’ve had in the USA. This is my second time in Yountville, and I believe the food exceeds the more known restaurants like Bottega, RH, etc. The staff is also super friendly! Thank you for a great experience. As someone who rarely revisits restaurants while on vacation- we will be back the next time we are in Yountville!

Dinner was wonderful, the food was delicious and the drinks were creative and tasted great. The bread and butter took a while to come out but when it did, it was so fresh and yummy. Overall amazing experience and will definitely be coming back!

Google
Best dining experience we had the entire time we were in Napa! We had the tomato and burrata and tuna appetizer. They were both so elegantly done. The sour dough bread was next level and the salted butter was so perfect and wholesome. We had the rock fish and the New York strip. They were both excellent but the strip was absolutely next level. From the presentation to the actual entree, perfection. Finished it off with the lemon tart, budino, and a cappuccino. They were all fantastic but the budino was like tasting something from my grandma’s kitchen. Larry was our server and he was just fantastic. He was inviting and informative but also mindful that we were here to celebrate our anniversary and wanted an intimate dinner. Thank you for a great experience!

Overall I'd say mostly good. Definitely a few caveats. 1. Amuse bouche - I was served kampachi crudo (allergic to shellfish). It was good, overall thought all the components worked well together. The kampachi was served too cold though, tasted barely defrosted. Still enjoyed it. The egg was tasty, but i feel like having all the truffle at the bottom and all the parmesan at the top detracted from it. Unless you know to scoop all the way to the bottom, you're gonna have a suboptimal experience. Strawberry gazpacho was not bad, but not particularly memorable. 2. Gnoccheti - fantastic. Only wish there was more. 3. Steak dish. Steak was overcooked. For the price, I would've expected more than the miniscule 2 bites they served - for that small of a steak I'd expect A5 wagyu. The steak itself wasn't bad per se, just way more well done than it should've been. And then it was served alongside a corn and mint thing, which on its own was great, but i had a bite of steak right after eating the corn, which clashed horribly. The corn/mint should've been part of the amuse bouche. Or even its own dish. I quite liked it. It just ruined the steak. 4. Dessert - good, no complaints from me. Satisfying end. The amount of food served would've been appropriate for lunch at a lower cost. As a dinner though? My entire party left hungry. I really can't say this dinner is worth it.

Google
Wow! Truly a wonderful dinner and experience. We started with the Oysters and Lemoncello Spritz - bright, clean and refreshing. My wife and I then shared the Pasta Bolognese and a fresh tomato pizza. Both delicious! Look forward to trying the Valley to Coast tasting menu next time.

Yelp
Honestly one of the best Napa restaurant experiences we've had in recent memory! Had a 6:15pm reservation on a Saturday night (definitely need a reservation). Place was starting to get full at that time. The restaurant is in a hotel so maybe there's valet but we were able to find free street parking on the black. Our waiter was wonderful, so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, wine, and even port wines. For apps got the lobster bisque, crudo, oysters and sourdough bread. Our waiter did warn us the bisque and crudo are relatively small portion sizes (they were) but had great taste. Sourdough bread was nice and came with standard butter and house butter (this one had anchovies and caviar and I liked the subtle fishiness of it). The oysters were v fresh and came with the appropriate condiments For cocktails got their house old fashion which to me didn't seem all that different from a regular old fashion. Preferred the mezcal cocktail my brother ordered. For dinner, the cacio e pepe was simple and done very well. Also really liked the scallop risotto. Waiter said one of their most popular dishes was the bolognese which did not disappoint. Least favorite was the spaghettoni aglio e olio, bit garlicky and too much Parmigiano reggiano but it wasn't bad, just that the other dishes were better For dessert, the macallan caramel budino is a must; just the right amount of alcohol and was just lovely. Just wish it was bigger hehe I would definitely return to this restaurant. They had a $90 tasting menu which seemed interesting as well

Yelp
My friends and I came here after a long and very warm day of wine tasting. Once we walked in we felt so welcomed and were able to relax. And yes, we did have reservations. I ordered the halibut and it was perfectly cooked. This is a dish that is often overcooked so I'm pretty picky where I will choose to eat it. It came with zucchini and squash blossom. I was deciding between this dish and the duck breast, which one of my friends ordered. I had a taste of her dish and it was very good. All of our dishes were beautifully plated and perfectly cooked. For dessert we had the budino (think butterscotch pudding) and the lemon tart. Do not skip the dessert course! They were both well made and well balanced in terms of flavor and sweetness. For some reason we decided to have after dinner cocktails and I ordered an amaretto sour. This was on their menu and it was very good. Service was on point and attentive. Parking is available in their parking lot. I really enjoyed the ambiance and would come back here for a fun and relaxing time.

Yelp
Had a great meal here last weekend and decided to do the tasting menu with the wine pairing. We weren't sure what to expect, but the food was creative and delicious and there was great service and ambiance. This was extremely good value considering the quality and price point. The only thing that I didn't think was worth getting was the wine pairing. While nothing was bad or paired poorly, the only part of the pairing that enhanced the food was a Hokkaido sour paired with the scallop. That was wonderful, but all of the wines that followed didn't seem like they were chosen for any particular reason other than it kind of went with the food. Looking back, I wish we had chosen drinks a la carte. However, I highly recommend this restaurant and its tasting menu.

Yelp
3.75 of 5 stars. Romantic, intimate classy, and some good food. If you know me, you know I'm all about customer service and this place does not fail. Our host was superb, very friendly, took their time, and was very knowledgeable about the food and menu. Something about knowing the entire menu is really dope to me. The wine was good, I can't wait to come back and try

Yelp
If there was one restaurant I can come back to in the Napa Valley, this would be it. We took on a recommendation to try this place out and have absolutely no regrets. All dishes here were phenomenal. Our server recommended two pasta dishes that were amazing. I am not a pasta kind of girl, but the spaghetti with the crab and truffle uni pasta was a hit for us! The octopus was delicious and oysters were fresh. I was going to pass on dessert, but took on our servers rec for the macalllan pudding. Holy smokes, this was heaven!! Not sure if this is always on their dessert menu, if it is....YOU HAVE TO ORDER IT!!! Already drooling thinking back to our dinner here. Looking forward to our next visit!!

Yelp
Had dinner with some coworkers. The place is small, quaint and the food is really good. It's also a great place to socialize with a group. For dinner we went through the entire cycle -- appetizers, mains, sides, desserts, and drink. The waiter made some great recommendations as everyone stated that they loved the food. From a service perspective, the restaurant was incredibly under-staffed. As such, it took a long time to get orders and there were very long periods of time where no one checked up on us. I know that staffing can be challenging so can't really ding on this. All in all, I enjoyed the restaurant and would love to go back and visit again.

Yelp
My friend and I were at a harvest party in the afternoon so we weren't very hungry, but we wanted some snacks and desserts. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and attentive. We got to start the oyster shell infused cocktail with tuna tartare. The drink was good - the briny-ness was only a hint, and the additional lemon peel and olives added subtle nuances. It was lovely with the tuna dish that you ate with a large cracker, and the fruit pieces really added another dimension to the dish. We got three desserts and the tea-based cocktail. The cocktail was quite perfume-y, which I didn't mind but some people might. The desserts were good - our favorite was the same - the lemon tart. The cracker flavor was a nice balance with the lemon and all the other components. The lemon-based drops that was like a "sauce" were fun too without being overly acidic. Overall I would be curious to try more savory stuff next time. I also enjoyed the decor, especially the giant moon-like lights.

Yelp
Food is always delicious. After going a few times we have noticed the service is better when sitting at the bar. Food is always delicious. They have gluten free options, yummy gf pasta and the steak is gf and delicious too!

Yelp
We visited the restaurant at North Block after seeing a post on Instagram about their tasting menu, which looked amazing. Unfortunately, when we arrived, they had just removed the tasting menu, so we were a bit disappointed. Instead, we ordered from the regular menu and went with the Margherita pizza, which was really good. I also had the Spaghettoni Aglio E Olio, which is their fresh spaghetti with crab and Parmesan. It was delicious but way too spicy for me, so I ended up taking it home because I couldn't finish it. For dessert, we had the Affogato ice cream and tiramisu cake--both were fabulous and definitely a highlight. Overall, the meal was good, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was pleasant. While I wouldn't say this is one of my favorite restaurants, especially with so many great options in the area, it's definitely worth a try. I'd consider coming back if they bring the tasting menu back.

Yelp
Had an opportunity to treat the out of town in-laws for Mother's Day dinner tonite. Greeted and seated by delightful front of the house staff. Our server was professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. Big props! Primary reason for this almost immediate post, is that the food here is absolutely AMAZING! The fresh sourdough, the duck breast, & desserts were all Michelin star worthy. This is a beautiful dining room too. No doubt finding more opportunities to visit frequently.

Yelp
In a world that never seems to slow down, The Restaurant at North Block is that hidden gem. The courtyard is a lovely spot, the service is top-notch, and the food is delicious. We left feeling refreshed and taken care of, and we're already planning our next visit to the area. Overall, the whole experience was a total breeze (literally!). We lost track of time, just enjoying the food, the surroundings, and the good vibes. If you're looking for a cute spot this is a cozy brunch space.

Yelp
Great service by Karen!!! Lovely ambiance! Haven't been to this place in a while, after the recent changes (and a bad experience), but wanted to give it another chance and I am really glad I did! Make sure to get the Yellowfin Tuna Tartare, the Risotto Alla Genovese (Screams for a bottle of crisp white wine), and the Spaghettoni Aglio E Olio (if you love fresh crushed garlic)! Chef came out to check on everyone. This place can be great again, the people working hard here have the heart for it... I truly hope the management does, because NOT having a menu on Yelp is NOT OKAY at all!
google avatar

Shreya S.

Yelp
The restaurant has a great location and the ambience is pretty. The bar looked inviting! The service was very attentive. But the food was just okay. Maybe as vegetarians we shouldn't have stopped at this place at all. But this is what we tried - Farm Salad - 3/5. We are not very big on salad , but as there wasn't much else on the menu , we tried this. It looked pretty. The dressing was decent. Just had a lot of lettuce. Nothing interesting. French Fries - 3/5. This was nice and crispy. Margaherita Flat bread - 2/5. This was just okay. Bite into the mozerella and it didn't have the stretch. The whole thing just fell off the bread.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful and colorful dishes delivering in presentation and flavor. We came here for a quick dinner bite and were not disappointed although our server barely wanted to speak and uh-huhed as every response, that didn't take away from the adorable outdoor vibe and good food
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
Lovely location and restaurant. We sat in the courtyard and the ambiance was very nice. The weather was amazing so sitting outdoors was perfect. They also allowed for our dog to join us. They have fans so that kept a nice breeze going as well. The started with mozzarella flat bread and fries. The flat bread was amazing but the string fries are a bit too much seasoning for my taste. For our mains, we ordered the burger, gnocchi and bolognese. The burger wasn't bad and was served with a side of fries. The gnocchi o would not order again as the was just too thick and over seasoned for my taste. The Bolognese was my favorite as it was just right in term of flavor was balanced, and pasta was Al denta. Overall had a great experience with the venue and service. The food isn't bad but could be better to hit that 5 star mark.
google avatar

Yelp
Stayed here last summer but never got the chance to try the restaurant. Yesterday we happened to be in the area to pick up some wine and decided to give it a shot. The restaurant itself is really nice. Elegant and simple on the inside and nice outdoor seating as well. They have a really interesting menu that has something for everyone. And a pretty good sized wine and cocktail list. The service here is excellent! From the host, to our waiter, to the busser, the service was on point. The food was very tasty. We split the farm salad, margherita flat bread, and the pasta bolognese. Perfect portion sizes and great flavors. We topped it off with a caramel budino for dessert which was amazing. This place is great. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Cute cute cute! It's connected to a hotel so it's easy to dismiss as a hotel bar or even veranda. We had a day of sun and wine and wanted some light and easy fare to end the day. I found North Block on the Michelin Guide as a place to try in Yountville so obviously. Easy to book reservations. Parking is the typical Yountville parking but there is a small lot for the hotel that you can get lucky with, if not then street parking or a bit of a trek from some of the larger parking lots. The menu is best described as your typical California food: salads, flatbreads, seafood options, and some land options (burger, steak, chicken). We ordered the Farm Salad - So refreshing and light dressing. You'll have to knife and fork this one. Classic cacio e pepe - probably my least favorite thing we ordered. The portion was super small and the noodles were a little bit before al dente so it was a bit too chewy. The seafood platter - my favorite. What great assortment: Shrimp, clams, oysters, ahi poke, king crab salad, and abalone (which I was surprised by). This should be ordered with 3 people. My husband was a champ to finish this, but comfortably I'd say order if you have 3+ size party so you can order other things and eat comfortably. This has a more casual setting, not too fussy but a good date night too.

Yelp
I have been here a few times for brunch over the last couple of years since they reopened with the new Chef, and the food and service is amazing! Highly recommend!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here with 4 of our friends for a late dinner. I along with 2 others got the risotto. My boyfriend had the halibut, another had the gnocchi and the last had the prosciutto flatbread. We also shared 2 bottles of red wine. I thought the risotto dish was just ok. The scallops were sweet which I didn't love but my 2 friends really enjoyed the dish. My boyfriend's halibut was really tasty. My other friends enjoyed the gnocchi and flatbread. It took a while to order and receive our wine and meals but our server was very nice. A little pricey but fair for the area. We sat outside in the courtyard which was very nice.
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
Oysters were nice here and the overall ambience was very classy, however this space was not pretentious, all sorts in here. This place was easy to walk into and grab a late dinner, this is valuable in a town where almost every thing is done by reservation and places are busy!
google avatar

Guillaume E.

Yelp
Both the food and the service were very good. We had the butternut squash soup, mussels and the mortadella sandwich. Ambiance is very pleasant as well. Overall, a great experience.
google avatar

James G.

Yelp
Napa Valley is known for its restaurants as well as its wine. NB is no exception. Their pizza is quite something. A mixture of wheat flour and rice flour gives a very light and fluffy pizza crust. It would a treat by itself. But put toppings on it. The table shared the wild mushroom pizza and the summer BBQ pizza. The mushroom pizza had the right balance of mushrooms and caramelized onions. The BBQ pizza has a tangy sauce. The chicken was moist. I have to say that one is my favorite of the two. We will be back to try other items.
google avatar

Val B.

Yelp
They have great food. Mediocre service. DO NOT get the shrimp cocktail. It is one shrimp cut into three pieces drenched in cocktail sauce with cheap water crackers on the side. Offensive for the price. Other things on the menu may be worth the price but certainly not this.
google avatar

Kai L.

Yelp
Delicious food, fantastic service, and an incredible night. We came here for our wedding anniversary dinner and loved our experience. The bread was delicious and the ambiance of the interior was perfect for a cold winter night. The bread was absolutely delicious, and the highlight of our night were the anchovies in local olive oil.

Yelp
We decided to have a night away in wine country for Christmas Eve, and booked a stay at the North Block Hotel (phenomenal - 5/5!). We also booked in at the adjacent restaurant and decided to do the tasting menu, which was not cheap ($135 per person). We started with the Amuse Bouches, and they were really pretty tasty. My favorite was the potato with a mushroom puree, but the tune sashimi on a tapioca cracker was also solid, and a radish puree was good as well. It was all beautifully presented and our hopes were high for the rest of the meal. Service was already starting to look a bit spotty though. The server had given the adjacent table their Amuse Bouches without telling them what they were, so they leant over and had to ask us. The next course was an hamachi crudo, which was also solid. It included tangerines, pear, and kiwi. From then on though, things went downhill. We had a risotto next with some kind of meaty flavored sauce. I can't tell you what that was because the server mumbled and then dashed off before we could ask him to repeat. The risotto was so creamy it was basically rice pudding. I was not a fan. There was then a LOOONG time before we got the next course. At least 45 minutes. The couple next to us, were wrapping up to leave while we were still waiting. When it came out it was steak, chanterelles, and potato. The steak was well cooked, but really bland. I think it was supposed to be skirt steak. It wasn't seasoned, and it just didn't taste like good quality steak. It tasted more like cheap supermarket steak. The chanterelles were also flavorless. The potato was yummy though, so props to whoever is the potato chef, but as my husband said - it's hard to mess up potato. We nibbled on the deserts since neither of us have a sweet tooth. So all-in-all definitely not worth the money. We did have some nice cocktails, and the drinks came out of the bar very quickly, so at least we had that, while we were waiting for the steak. There are so many good dining options in Yountville that I can't see this restaurant competing. The hotel is beautiful though. We'll be back to stay, but not to eat!
google avatar

Luz P.

Yelp
I've been here many times. For brunch, lunch, or dinner. The menu is fresh, and delicious every time. The service is super, attentive, thoughtful, and the vibe is always fun. Located in downtown Yountville this "hidden" gem is a local favorite.

David F.

Yelp
Great service. Food...meh. Unimpressive. Trying to hard to be unique. Not sure if I would give it another try as there are so many good alternatives in the area.

Yelp
We were fortunate to snag a reso here the day of! They are dog friendly and have heaters outside on their outdoor dining area! It's pretty spaced out and nice. Bathroom is at the hotel next door, a short walk away. We got the squash fritters, chard, duck sausage pizza and these little homemade cookies they gave with the check. They were out of couple things we wanted so we kept it light tonight. Squash fritters are a must try! With the mousse with roe combo is quite delicious! We really enjoyed dipping it in and the roe was a great touch. The chard was not my favourite but it was kind of cool how it came out looking like a sushi roll! The duck sausage pizza is a must try for the pizza or duck or sausage lovers! It looked oily and greasy as the thin crust buckled under the weight of the topping but it was delicious, savoury with no hint of oily or greasiness we saw. And the mini cookie/ treats made in house with the check. I was told it was miso, sesame and date combo. Wow. I wish they would make some I could buy to take home!!! Please start making them in bulks so I can grab a bag next time we're back! Or if someone knows the recipe message me please! According to my partner they smelled of thyme but I had to inform him he just went to the bathroom and used the soap that smelled like thyme Things do leave the menu here and there seasonally but I hope y'all get a chance to try them before they're gone!

Yelp
Restoration was booked do we tried North. Ate outside in their courtyard. Enjoyed some local Chardonnay and a flatbread pizza. Excellent food and service was great. Can't wait to return.

Yelp
Outstanding service, food and wine list. We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere outside after a bad experience T a nearby restaurant.

Rachel A.

Yelp
It's great to see the Northblock bustling and busy with visitors and locals alike. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly with smiles and hellos when you walk in the door. The beautiful lighting and ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming, and their craft cocktails were phenomenal. The tropical Negroni was delicious. The Spring in the Valley salad was as tasty as it was beautiful with carrot hummus and cashew cheese and tiny, micro carrots! The bolognese was classic and comforting. It is great to see the restaurant doing well, Chef Anthony came and said hi to our table and we shared how much we loved the food. We will be coming back for some flatbreads.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty sad. Breakfast music was screeching electro club music. Horrible. Breakfast Lemon Ricotta pancakes all burnt to crisp. Eggs overcooked. Chicken sausage- burnt. Breakfast for two $65.00 ! Bad experience all around. Stay away.

Yelp
Food was all good! I order gnocchi with ox tail ragu, liked the texture and taste of it. Was able to try the risotto which was good maybe bit a bit dry for me. The duck was delicious. Loved the mussels, Pulpo looked better than it tasted however still liked it. Overall, with the zen like ambience and very good service, may come back again

Yelp
We originally booked an Italian restaurant in Napa but didn't want to drive out. We liked being able to walk to restaurants in Yountville. We decided to try this place and it didn't disappoint. Every dish we ordered was wonderful. The taste, presentation and freshness of the ingredients were stellar. The service was excellent. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside in the patio. My whole family including our Frenchie enjoyed our dinner Al Fresca at this place. Thank you!

Yelp
Great location for brunch. Beautiful patio area and probably one of the best bloody marys I have had in a long while.

Yelp
We made Last-minute reservation and the restaurant was quiet when we arrived. Quick seating, and the service staff was super nice. Tried the martini, quite tasty. The octopus appetizer was a bit small for the price, but it tasted okay. Unfortunately, the ravioli and caccio e Pepe were disappointing - small portions, overcooked pasta and a runny white sauce, not appetizing at all. We informed the waitress, and she and the manager were very understanding and comped some items from our bill. Great service, but the food fell short.

Yelp
We dined here for Mother's Day - family of 3. Ambiance was classy, simple and clean, not overly pretentious. Every food dish we had was amazing! We topped off our meals with 3 different desserts. Wow! (Photos attached.) They weren't just beautiful, they were delicious. Our server was gracious and informed us of everything we were served. One of the best dining experiences we've had!

Yelp
Had an excellent time celebrating my Uncle and Aunt's Wedding Anniversary at Northblock! The service was impeccable and the food was superb! The restaurant recently made some interior changes and it feels very modern and upscale inside. My family loves to eat so we tried a little bit of everything. We started with the artisanal cheeses and our server made sure to highlight which local spot each item was from which I thought was a nice touch. As my main dish I had the San Francisco Black Cod, the fish was cooked just right and all the flavors of dish worked well together! For dessert my favorite was the strawberry tart, the cream was divine! Definitely recommend checking out this restaurant, you can feel that the people who work here really enjoy it and are proud of their work!

Yelp
Forgot to take pictures of the grilled chard (that looked like a sushi roll)--so tasty and fresh--why didn't I think of that? I will be trying to replicate in the future! Also forgot to take a picture of the duck sausage pizza on their fresh chewy sourdough--again, so good. I did take a pic of the rockfish, which again, burst with flavors of chile and the gooseberries were bursts of tart flavor that livened it all up. We are trying to eat less food, but this was definitely plenty. It's a nice atmosphere too. Our server was very nice and also very apologetic--they were so slammed that there was an extremely long wait between everything. She was apparently also playing bartender. And to respond to what others wrote--they are seasonal so not surprising things leave the menu--and wood fired pizzas are charred. . .

Yelp
Today we took family for the Easter extravaganza. The food was amazing. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was friendly. Open. And relaxed. The kids got cotton candy as a special treat. This place is a gem. We will come again.

Yelp
Love the ambiance here and usually sit at the bar. Food and service generally is very good. Tonight was a bit odd, as I chose to sit aside on a beautiful evening. The staff was prompt and Duke was very adept at describing the dishes. I chose the sourdough bread starter and halibut with hollandaise. The bread arrived promptly. It was sliced and stacked with salted butter. Very good but the presentation could be improved. It's on a small plate and doesn't look appealing, although it was good and great quality bread. The halibut arrived and the portion was a bit small. The strange thing is there were baby squash and squash blossoms which one, the 4 tiny squash were undercooked and inedible and two, the squash blossoms were empty which was odd. No cheese filling, no nothing. Despite half my entree being off, the halibut was delicious. That was until my bill arrived. The halibut was listed on the menu for $36 and I was charged $46 for my halibut. I waited for Duke to return to inquire but finally, I just left. So, there are too many good restaurants in the valley and it will be awhile before I return.

Yelp
We had a great Happy Hour Martini with Jesse today. He was lovely, fun, and the ultimate Yountville Tom Cruise bartender. Super cold vodka and beautiful restaurant. We will be back.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to dine here over the weekend and was so impressed by the experience. This was my first time dining there since they remodeled and updated their menu. The interior color is a lot brighter and welcoming, and the three big globe-shaped lights in the front of the dining room do an amazing job at tying all the interior updates together. And... the FOOD. The FOOD. I was blown away. Everything from the house-made mignonette for the oysters, the perfect crust on the flatbread (mushroom is amazing), spot-on spiced/flavored soup for the cioppino, risotto loaded with truffles, to the bolognese pasta -- and the tiramisu! The best tiramisu I've ever had. You seriously can't go wrong. The service was the icing on the cake. They treated us like friends and family. We had such an amazing time and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
An experienced team at David Chang's Momofuku came to Yountville's North Block hotel, the former home of Redd Wood. Bittersweet that Redd Wood, my old bar playground that closed before COVID but glad this space opens again in February 2021! Chef Nick Tamburo teamed up with general manager Andy Wedge (Momofuku) featured a menu of "Californian" food, with a little Asian twist and featuring fresh local ingredients. Dined here at the first week of service which was a 3 star experience with everyone from servers to the kitchen staffs still trying to iron out its kinks. Back recently for drinks and gosh the hand crafted cocktails are amazing! The passion fruit margarita was complex in flavor and well balanced! Came back for dinner again this week and the food also did not disappoint! Love the house cured trout dish, fresh hamachi crudo and the Flannery steak with local mushrooms was cooked perfect. The restaurant's inherited wood-fired pizza oven translated to dishes like grilled black cod with mahogany clams, green garlic broth, and snap peas, and duck sausage pizzas. The restaurant is now fully open for indoor dining.

Yelp
3.5 STARS COVID-19 OUTDOOR DINING As I'm getting older, I appreciate hip places that make be feel like I'm in my 20s again. Not to mention, collagen-rich foods...chicken feet, pig's feet, etc. I mean, there's a reason they say, "AZN don't raisin!"....we love our feet. While researching places to eat during a recent staycation, I was immediately sold on North Block, a new restaurant in Yountville... Momofuku alum. Refined Californian Cuisine using locally grown ingredients. Full bar. Dog-friendly. And....new AND hip! Big city vibes in a small charming town. YAS! Unfortunately, I agree with Paul L....North Block has promise but they're not there yet (or I visited on an off night). Our dishes ranged from great to underwhelming. That's the risk you take when dining at the new new but I'm confident that they'll improve. C O V I D - 1 9 S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N S * Staff wore masks properly. * Single-use menus. * Outdoor tables were spaced out more than 6+ feet. Open-air front patio and courtyard seating. Heat lamps available. * Hand sanitizer available. D R I N K S / F O O D * Northside: Ford's Gin w/ guava, lime, mint ($16): https://bit.ly/3aqEPlA Pretty drink with a nice tropical tartness but light on the booze. * Vesper ($19) Decided to just order my usual and it didn't disappoint....stiff! * Hendricks Tonic: $15 Standard. * Tomales Bay Oysters w/ yuzu mignonette (1/2 dozen - $21): https://bit.ly/3tE1XVm Loved the simple, oceanic presentation. I only tried one oyster which was a bit fishy but mainly because the yuzu mignonette leaked out from the sides of the oysters. Easily solved by adding a side of the mignonette with the oysters. * Cured Mt. Lassen Trout w/ almond milk, bay leaf oil, trout roe ($18): https://bit.ly/3tE4Ghy Between the two crudos, this my fav. The fresh trout was silky soft and I liked the pop of saltiness from the trout roe. * Big Eye Tuna Crudo w/ rhubarb, meyer lemon, ginger ($22) While the tuna was fresh and silky, it didn't have any flavor. IMO, needed more acid; didn't taste the meyer lemon or ginger. * Smoked Lamb Ribs w/ green romesco sauce, pistachio, turnips (1/2 order - $20): https://bit.ly/2QGEMLs BEST dish of the night! Lighting issues outside so the picture doesn't do these bomb ribs justice (not dry as my pic makes them to look). The smoked lamb ribs were deliciously smoky and tender with a flavorful dry rub. Enjoyed eating all fatty, sinewy sections and the cartilage. Loved it so much that we ordered another round. Just as great, as the first round but the portion was different (1st round: 5 ribs, 2nd round: 4 ribs). * Duck a la Gray: Dry-aged Liberty Duck, preserved lime, crème fraîche, tatsoi ($39): https://bit.ly/3eijtYT Perfectly rendered, the duck had a crispy skin and the breast was tender, albeit a tad dry. This is a matter of preference but I wasn't a fan of the gravy. I think something fruity would have complemented the duck more. * Wood-fired Sourdough Pizza - Duck Sausage, tomato, mozzarella, basil, chili oil ($21): https://bit.ly/3sAX2TO Great blistered crust with leopard spotting, the sourdough crust had a good chew and flavor. The sprinkling of sesame seeds on the exterior crust was genius! Loved the toasty, nutty flavor it added. A better proportion and distribution of ingredient(s) are needed as only half the pizza had cheese. * Burnt Cheesecake ($12): https://bit.ly/3vanYf5 Been on a hunt for a burnt basque cheesecake that rivals Basuku's so I was excited to order this. The burnt top layer added a strong and distinctive caramel-y flavor but the cheesecake itself was dry and mealy. S E R V I C E Friendly, approachable, and attentive. Food service was timely and we were never waiting long for another course. A M B I A N C E Minimalist and contemporary. We sat at the quiet front patio so enjoyed people and dog watching during our meal. The courtyard patio was more lively. P A R K I N G Private lot at North Block Hotel. Overall, the food was a mixed bag but we still enjoyed our meal, the service, and the vibe. They're super new so I'm sure they'll get there. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Yelp
When you think you will have a great experience with a restaurant that has good reviews but are terribly let down. I checked open table to see if there were reservations on the 20 minute drive to the restaurant and found there was plenty of times so did not select a time and decided to just walk in. The host was pleasant & shared there was a wait. I had already seen reservations earlier so decided to make the reservations to get seated earlier as a logical next step. Host proceeds to check if a table was available. Then the male worker to tell me they cannot honor my reservations because I was told it was 45 minutes wait and had just made the reservations. There was no communication that it was a blanket statement for any party (reservations and walking). I felt talked down to by him, as if I should have known. His tone was abrasive, combative even. Quite frankly for a nice establishment I was shocked as to how I was treated. I will not be going back and hope there is further training on how to communicate with potential customers. To be clear the woman host was pleasant and she told me "he did not tell me that either."

Yelp
Absolutely come here if you're looking for a great meal in Napa. We came here for our anniversary and the meal was the best we had on our trip. We arrived early and sat right away. The server greeted us within a minute of sitting down. She made great menu recommendations. They are currently serving a fall inspired menu and it was one of the best seasonal menus we have had. You must order the Brussel sprout pizza. It was so flavorful and the sourdough crust was perfect. The pizza is wood-fired and a can't miss. I would highly recommend the trout as well. It was a huge portion and full of complexity and flavor. For dessert we had the pumpkin cheesecake and Hoch was delicious. More pumpkin pie like in flavor. We were celebrating our anniversary and there was no acknowledgement of that. For as nice of place as it was, I was surprised there was no champagne toast or dessert to celebrate. I would recommend they incorporate that into future reservations. It's a small touch that makes a guest feel special.

Yelp
We had an excellent dining experience here at North Block! We sat inside but we did see that they have outdoor seating options as well. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We ordered several things to share family style: 1. Big eye tuna crudo with rhubarb - so interesting and tasty! Love the tiny diced up rhubarb, what an amusing combination! 2. Duck sausage pizza - definitely has Asian flavors to it, the pizza is so fresh and everything on it was delicious, tomato sauce, cheese, basil, sausage, sesame oil 3. Duck breast - yummy! So tender and the sauces were good too! 4. Corn fritters with the dipping sauce - so delightful!! Crunchy and the sauce with the caviar, yum! Would definitely visit again! Highly recommend!
