"Chances are, if you’ve been to The Rooster on Pico - or ever encountered their truck around town - you’ve had their Rico Suave breakfast burrito. It’s great, after all. But the next time you get delivery, order the Rooster Burger. It’s a breakfast burger served on a ciabatta roll, with a thin layer of ketchup, melty cheddar, and a runny egg on top. Is it sloppy? Yes. But you’re eating it in the comfort of your own home - no one is judging you except for the dog." - brett keating
"The Rooster is the first standalone restaurant from Rouha Sadighi, the chef behind the Rooster Truck. Now, customers can snag a Rico Suave breakfast burrito with tater tots and avocado every day from a single location instead of chasing Sadighi’s truck all over the city." - Rebecca Roland
"I consider the Rico Suave from the Rooster on Pico Boulevard LA’s best all-around breakfast burrito: chef-owner Rouha Sadighi—who’s won on Cutthroat Kitchen and worked at places like Penelope and Joe’s on Abbot Kinney—has nailed the ratios. She uses tater tots for crispness and starch (she was one of the first in LA to do so), eggs set to a forgiving medium so the yolk melds without spilling, dual cheeses (cheddar and cotija), and bacon for the ideal salty, chewy counterpoint. A bracing salsa and a robust cilantro crema coexist inside a lightly griddled flour tortilla, and avocado is included automatically. It’s balanced, trend-setting, widely wholesaled across the county, and consistently excellent with no need for mods." - Farley Elliott
"The brick-and-mortar version of The Rooster Truck is in Pico-Robertson, and it’s serving the same excellent breakfast burrito: The Rico Suave. It’s still one of the best things to eat when you’re hungover - it has eggs, two kinds of cheese, tater tots, and avocado inside - but if you’re not craving a breakfast burrito, we recommend the chicken chorizo breakfast tacos, or the breakfast burger, which is nice and juicy, and has extremely melty cheddar on top. Whatever you get, this meal will surely cancel out whatever tequila is remaining in your stomach from last night." - Brett Keating
"After years of chasing down chef Rouha Sadighi's colorful food truck, I finally have a permanent spot for the buzzed-about Rico Suave breakfast burrito in Pico‑Robertson. This is Sadighi’s first standalone project after operating mostly on Abbot Kinney and other Westside spots, and she’s kept her formidable wholesale business selling finished burritos to coffee shops up and down the coast. The menu keeps the signature Rico Suave—with all that avocado—and expands into lunchtime sandwiches and salads, plus items like the Kevin Bacon (an ode to a classic BLT), the Cubano‑inspired Andy Garcia, a burger, and tater tot sides. The former Komodo has been completely revamped to maximize the kitchen; seating is a few counter and stool spots up front and one large communal table, but the place is meant to be a mellow quick‑stop for dining before moving on. It opens on Friday and will keep hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends." - Farley Elliott
