The Rosemont

We had a nice time in this unpretentious, friendly bar with great outdoor space. It’s funny, but as a first-timer, after seeing the pictures on here I walked in expecting and ordering a classic cocktail. An unapologetic dive, The Rosemont is comically OPPOSITE from those pics…in every way. Don’t mind, love dives (and satire), and will return. But…do better management. I get a feeling you may rely a bit much on friendly bartenders and could do much more to sustain this space.

Incredible vibes on Mondays. This is my second time here and absolutely love it. The team and regulars are super friendly. Killer karaoke and games! Julia and her cohosts kill the game. Highly recommend

The Rosemont is one of the best queer bars in the city. Whether you want to throw back a few beers or prefer a classic like a Manhattan or Negroni (all prepared with care by the bartender), this is a bar that has something for everyone. The back patio is a relaxed fun vibe with a truly eclectic crowd. But if a night of dancing is more your thing head inside the bar where the music is pumping and people tear up the tiny dance floor after midnight

We had a very good rest in this place. The service is very high. Comfortable, cozy and fun.They often hold promotions, if you register at 909gay,com and create a profile, you can get a free, private room for 2 hours and a free cocktail

used to go there all the time. one night i paid them at the door to check my coat. they gave it away to someone and couldnt recover it. the night it happened, they asked me to wait until the entire bar closed to see if someone just left it around the bar and talk to the manager. the manager gave me an incorrect number to text her to follow up. I am now having to take them to small claims court to recover $1000. i was super nice about it too, I even gave them a week to recover. they told me even if i paid them to check it, it's not their responsibility, which doesn't even make sense from a legal perspective. so just in general, really shady business practices.

Loved it. I got stabbed here but the guy who did it was super nice. Will be back next Friday

My original review was removed for not being a firsthand experience (talking about how a friend of mine experienced racism from the staff on Juneteenth by the bar staff) but it still exists elsewhere on the internet as of 6 December 2022. Unfortunately, I also have a negative firsthand experience here from around 2017 (or 2018, but I'll find that receipt later). I went here with a few of my friends, because they wanted to see a particular performer visit this place. When I tried to order at the bar, I was straight up ignored until a friend of mine came over and ordered on my behalf. When I went back a few minutes later, to get some napkins and water, I was again ignored until a different male friend of mine came over and ordered for me. A common denominator is that both of my friends who ordered for me were non-black patrons and successfully made purchases with no blockers. At the time, I didn't think too much of it because I don't go into situations assuming that people are racist. I tend to assume that maybe they're having a bad day or that they're just bad at their job. Now correlation does not equal causation, but when a black friend of mine tells me that they visited this bar and was essentially told to GTFO despite saying nothing inflammatory and there are tons of other reviews from POC noting that they had an unsavoury and racist experience here as well, it is plausible to say this establishment has a history of racist behaviour to POC and black people in particular. Another good reason to not like this place is because I was physically harassed by another patron (which is not the bar's fault) but when I discreetly brought this up to the bouncer, he did not care at all. I'm pretty sure security is a part of a bouncer's job responsibilities lol. To top it all off, someone stole my hat! This place sucks.

I had a decent experience at The Rosemont. I will admit that I probably would not have visited had I read the Yelp reviews prior to my visit. Our bartenders, Mike and I cannot remember the woman's name, were very friendly and chatty with my friend (another African American male) and me. I will admit that we visited the bar on a weeknight so there were not a lot of other visitors in the establishment. Luckily, I did not have the same negative experience as some of some of the other reviewers. I hope this means that the establishment has changed some of it business practices. I guess time will tell.

Located in the heart of East Williamsburg, The Rosemont is a standard gay bar that draws a lively crowd on any given night. While the atmosphere is enjoyable, the interior design is unfortunately lackluster and feels like any other gay bar you might encounter. That being said, the back patio is a nice touch and offers a pleasant space to catch up with friends or meet new people. One of the highlights of The Rosemont is its affordable drink prices, making it a popular spot for those looking to enjoy a night out without breaking the bank. However, one can't help but wonder why they haven't put more effort into elevating the space. The interior design feels lazy and uninspired, and with a little more thought, The Rosemont could really stand out from the crowd. Despite the lack of attention to detail, The Rosemont is still a nice spot in the neighborhood for the LGBTQ+ community to gather and connect. If you're in the area and looking for a cheap drink or a place to catch up with friends, The Rosemont is worth checking out. However, if you're looking for a gay bar that offers a truly unique experience, you might want to look elsewhere.

Great service, bartenders were very nice and attentive. The place is fairly small and can get pretty packed at peak hours, though is still pretty lowkey overall. Pretty nice experience.

Staff are just plain rude. We were standing to the side deciding if we wanted to go in or not and they told us "you can't stand there" even though there was no one in line. We then moved and they proceeded to tell us "time is running out. Why are you taking to long to decide if you're going to pay a $5 cover?" which was completely unwarranted for. I would not support an establishment that treats their customers like this. If you have to pressure people that hard for $5 I doubt it's good.

Very negative experience waiting to go in. If you're waiting outside bc you're not set on going in this club or leaving the club in another area, they will harass you.

Some (not all) of the staff here is extremely rude and disrespectful. Some girls doing cocaine in the bathroom were annoyed that I knocked on the bathroom door and one cut my throat with her keys. They were friends with a bartender who then tried to throw me out (unsuccessfully as the bouncer saw everything go down) and laughed with these girls as I was bleeding. Then another bartender refused give me my card back when I tried to close out and leave, saying "I'm not going to pay attention to you or do anything for you so stop taking up room" That being said, the drag queen as well as some patrons and other people on staff tried to help after the assaulting girls were removed.

I went with 2 friends to what I thought was going to be a fun night December 17 at 10pm. I mean, who can go wrong with going out to have a gay old time to a neighborhood gay bar. Well, it happened. The second I walked in to this empty place, the bartender yelled at me to ask for my vax card. I was in shock on how rude he was. I kindly told him to not to be so rude and took out my proof of vaccination. He then when ahead and told me that if I didn't like his tone to get the F out of here. I went to sit with my friends but by then I was beet upset. They agreed with me that the bartender was rude so we got up and left to go to Metropolitan bar down the street. Where the staff was super friendly and my night went excellent there. I will never ser a foot at the Rosemont again.

The staff was mad rude and racist .. walking in the host told us to walk faster. And when we sat down he asked us to move to a back table. Wouldn't recommend but then again WELCOME TO NEW YORK. LMFAO.

Racism and anti blackness are alive and well in Brooklyn and this bar is a a part of the problem. I went to the Rosemont last night to celebrate a friend's birthday and within minutes of arriving and hopping on line, one of the unprofessional folks at the door made a complete scene. This happened after they went out of their way to randomly *yell* out to snap at us after listening in to a literal private conversation completely unrelated to the bar, and tell us that "if we don't like it here, we should just get the f*ck out." I'm not sure where this line of thinking came from, or what provoked this person, but the rest of the incident began when I, a black person, made a sarcastic comment about the irony of the person at the door going out of their way to treat a black folks poorly on Juneteenth. Is this person really employed to listen into peoples mundane private conversations and then threaten to throw them out? I guess so. Despite this persons threats to not let us into the bar, we ended up going in, ordering drinks, and then reconsidering after gathering the gravity of the prior incident. My (white) friend went out to confront the person working, at which point she was told that the person working was "not a racist," and couldn't have done anything anti-black essentially because they aren't white. Sure. That's definitely how that works lol. Either way, the owner of the establishment who was initially not present, came forward to tell us that we--and definitely not his own staff--were "causing trouble and needed to leave." As convenient of a narrative as that may be, if a customer indicates that they experienced prejudicial behavior from staff at your establishment and your first instinct, especially as a white person, is to blame the customer, you're doing a bad job. The other person at the door yelled after us after we left to, "go to another bar like Three Dollar Bill or something!" And, they're right. Go to a bar that isn't racist! Spend your money elsewhere. As folks in previous reviews have said: the actions that this spot has taken are not indicative of an establishment that is likely to change. The bar owner is more committed to protecting problematic staff members than making black people feel safe and welcome in the establishment. We ended up going to Metropolitan instead and did not encounter any problematic behavior from the staff, and also appreciated the pro-black statements made there during the drag show.

LOVE this place. Came here for after work relaxation drinks and it was just what I needed. I can see this spot being a hot spot on weekends but it was pretty empty on this particular weeknight. It as a fantastic outdoor space with plenty of seating, and the indoor bar is split very astutely into a dance space and a seated space. Drinks here were also very cheap (happy hour perhaps) at $5 each for wells.

A friend mentioned this place so we decided to give it a try. Dimly lit with good music playing in the background. Interesting mix crowd here everyone from gay men to boho chick ladies to the hipsters of the area always like a place with a good mix crowd. Bar area upfront, seating around the sides & they apparently have an outdoor space, would be nice to check out when the warmer weather comes around. Small stage in the back plus a piano, I hear they put on shows, probably fun since the space is not that big. Late happy hour specials is what brought us here goes till 9pm we got some Blue Point beer nice & cold can't go wrong for $5 dollars not bad at all, The bartender she was nice & attentive. We enjoyed a few drinks, very chill place good vibe & as long as the happy hour goes late worth the try.

The Rosemont prides itself on being Brooklyn's best LGBTQ+ bar yet their actions say different. Two weeks ago, I was a victim of a hate crime at the venue that my friends and I frequent pretty often. I was hanging out in the back patio on my birthday while a bucket of urine was thrown across the privacy fence. Multiple workers of the club including the bouncer expressed that this wasn't the first time that this has occurred. Coming from Orlando and the Pulse incident I believed Rosemont was not only a safe space but one that cared about their patrons. Getting in contact with the owner of the club after filing a police report that night was a hurdle as they responded to me two weeks later. Being that this has happened before, I highly advise everyone especially my fellow LGBTQ+ family, to NOT participate in the narrative that is The Rosemont. It's honestly disgusting that an establishment can be aware of things like this happening within our community but do nothing to hinder it from repeating itself in the future.

Older guy behind the bar has the worst customer service skills, I had laugh my way out of that place. Like you cannot be serious. Friend told me it's normal for him to give off mean girl energy and just to be plain rude towards a "certain" demographic. Go-figure.

This is a delightful little spot! Highly recommend for date nights, or something a little more chic. They have a fantastic outdoor space, so if that's on your radar-great place for it. It's a little far from my neck of the woods, but it's definitely a place I'll be returning too. Did I mention they're queer friendly? :)

A friends brother bartends here and I'm glad we made it in on a recent trip to NYC. The party starts late here so when we arrived around 11pm it wasn't uncomfortably packed yet. It's definitely a cozy neighborhood bar also known for great drag shows. Our old a** selves only stuck around around for the first set. The second one was after 2am! That WAY passed my bedtime. But so fun! The staff are super fun and friendly. They also had a coat check which was a nice touch. A fun place indeed. And if you're a local looking for a fun and open to all bar....this is it!

The entire bar feels like a family. The staff are super kind and welcoming. A safe queer space!!!! I was there a few weeks ago and a woman was assaulted by her out of control girlfriend. Everyone stepped in and handled it with grace. They removed her immediately and protected everyone inside. When she tried to come back into the bar, they prevented her re-entry. Several members of the rosemont team came over and asked everyone if they were okay and if they could do anything. The patio is cute, the drag queens are amazing and very talented. All around my fav Brooklyn spot. I'd go at the beginning of your night or very late to have the best time.

Rly don't understand all the high reviews. Waited literally 45 min for the restroom. One restroom had 2 guys having sex for the longest time and one one was there to moderate. Also takes forever to order at the bar.

First off, I love the rosemont! This past time, however, the music was quite clearly catered toward the straight white girl crowd, and I expressed my disappointment via my facial expressions. A person who worked there accosted me, saying, "what's your problem? I work here." As if I would respond! Teehee. Anyway, yea just weird behavior. Love this space usually, check your staff.

Wonderful spot I found randomly on Yelp! The bartender Johnny was so nice & helpful with the cocktail menu. The happy hour is an INSANELY good deal ($5 cocktails all 7 days of the week until 9pm!). So ya...reason enough to go here). The space is also extremely clean yet inviting which is hard to come by - the decor all around is V cute. Makes for a wonderful date spot since it's not too noisy or crowded!

What a fun gay club! On par with the likes of Macri Park: good music, good bartenders, good backyard. Legit af. I approve and would recommend this place for a fun time out. We came out for a drag show and we were not disappointed. Saturday vibes be good.

I live a couple blocks away and this bar is a Great addition to the neighborhood! I love the live jazz they have on Thursdays through Sunday, and it's Free! So tip the band and tip your bartender so we can ensure the Jazz remains a key attraction. Ambience is chill and sexy. BUT the kitchen section / kitchen lighting is definitely a SORE EYE! It ruins the vibe, but it looks like once the proper kitchen is up and running that it will better assimilate into the interior of the space. Love the plants and booths. I think they could use some sort of soft spotlight over the mirror that is the drink lists. No one can tell that's where they should be looking for drinks and it's also waay to the left of the bar. Get a better spotlight! I'd also like to make a special callout to the bar-back who has been beyond attentive: every time I've been there, he is always bringing the band cold water and started bringing it to guests too! What an awesome hospitality detail that DEFINITELY did not go unnoticed. In terms of drinks, I'd stick with the classic cocktails for $11. The price is right! If you're in the mood to splurge for a specially cocktail, try the one with Mezcal! Called Daddy's Water Burns.

The bouncer tonight at the bathroom was extremely rude and condescending for no reason. He should not be employed here. Otherwise the music was great and the backyard is awesome!

Awesome new spot, classy but comfortable. The house cocktails are really good, they're mostly variations on classics. Good date spot.

Live jazz and nice hang out spot in Williamsburg. They even have an outdoors area, where you can enjoy the not-so humid NYC nights. The cocktails are priced at $12 and up. Not a bad price but it did take us about 10 minutes standing by the bar to place our order. I don't blame them though, it was pretty busy on a Friday night. Very good intimate date spot.

Rosemont is really cute and nice. A ton of gay men and not a lot of gay women (as is kind of to be expected), but it's still a relatively welcoming environment despite my friends and I always being some of the only women there. The bartenders and everyone that works there are always super nice and the backyard is MASSIVE. Also good drag shows and reasonably priced drinks. Yay Rosemont!

Love this bar but happy hour was not at advertised. $5 wine advertised online but it was $9 in person. When we asked about happy hour they said drinks were never $5 Nice bartenders nonetheless!

Cute, neighborhood gay bar with friendly staff and great drag shows. I don't touch alcohol, if I'm hanging at a bar it has to offer more than great drinks...and the Rosemont does just that! But I hear that Mercedes makes the best cocktails, so definitely ask for her when you stop by.

A great place and the only thing I regret is that I need to head back home. When I'm back in the city though I'll be sure to touch base with Johnny and Deena. Great drinks, great atmosphere, great people. Made for a fantastic way to unwind throughout a stressful week.

Been here a few times and every time I go I have a great experience. The outdoor is a nice touch to the place, does get crowded but never had a problem with the people or workers. Everyone is nice and the indoors is a little small but the outdoors is worth it.

I'll be coming back all summer long. The drinks are amazing and the outdoor patio is a beautiful place to kick back and relax with friends!

The staff here is very nice every time I come. The crowd is also pleasant and the backyard is open all night (I believe?) which is really fuck*n cool if you ask me.

THIS IS NO LONGER a "jazz bar!" (Google Maps needs to up its game.) NOW it is an incredibly welcome (yet cool) neighborhood (and soon to be "destination") gay/queer/alt/outsiders bar -- w/o being a dive! Tufted banquettes, plenty of room to sit, stand, mingle, DANCE, almost unheard of outdoor space, simple but soulful decor (real art! space! clean!)... Run by NYC "nightlifers" (Troy-Mgr-AmbassadorOfCulture, Kris-Bar-PhotoArtist, Lauren-KeeperOfTheGate, Wren-Dj-Designer, other cool denizens I don't know yet)... Been going out in the EV or W'burg in the last 5-20yrs? Then you KNOW who they are ;)) Bringing love & the lore of an ever evolving, turning, transforming community to a completely new venue.... A new crossroads for many shared realities... WHY am I telling you this??? I mean I don't want it TOO crowded :) Le sigh... I just want to just move in & become a fixture here. See you soon.

I don't want to say too much because this place is pretty great (drinks, staff, space), but they definitely deserve the patronage. Tell your friends but not the annoying basic ones, and tip the bartenders a lot.

Stopped by for some late drinks after a night in Manhattan! We came here at 1am~ish on a Saturday night so it was pretty empty honestly. Had some of their classics, daiquiri, Manhattan, and a gimlet. The vibe is super chill as a lounge bar and pretty conducive for late night conversations. Decor and look are interesting, there's some small pieces of political artwork on the walls, kind of a grungy cartoon playing, but still strangely hip with its candles and lounge couches. Casual but still endearing, I'd come by again.

Great experience here and exactly what I was looking for. Such a great environment to have some delicious drinks and listen to some light music with my girl. The bartender (chris I believe) was fantastic and made a great drink when I told him it was dealer's choice. Everyone was friendly .. We will definitely be back!

You already know the Rosemont's one of the best gay bars in Brooklyn, hands down! The staffs friendly , the queens beautiful and welcoming, and it's a place for allies and the lgbtq community to come together and have a good time.

Love. Staff is delightful; everyone I've met. Ambiance is super charming and just the right speed so long as your not after wall to wall noise and crowded bodies. Drinks are nice and span the spectrum from booze 101 to buyer beware. I think these nice folks have really hit a sweet spot directly across from the athletic fields which add a really delightful element and flavor to the space -especially when lit up after dark. Go have a drink at the bar and you'll see for yourself.

Great decor evocative of a 1950s jazz bar. Had a couple of their signature cocktails, which were delicious. Beautiful back deck. Met the owner, Frank, who is a super cool dude. Get the Eccleston bourbon cocktail.

Ambiance was nice enough, and the outdoor seating was nice. Was not a fan of the drinks at all though. Every drink we got (including their signature cocktails) tasted extremely watered down (I'm not saying it was necessarily actually watered down) and bland. Not a place we're planning on returning to, unfortunately.

Nice place , good and cheap drinks, good life music. Quiet and romantic atmosphere. Really satisfied. Definitely will come back and recommend this place.

Nice spot and excellent cocktails. Bartender Ellis was super friendly and made a strong drink. Place wasn't that crowded which was really nice then by 10pm it got packed. A bunch of annoying assholes, so make sure you have a seat at bar or a table. Hopefully the scene doesn't stay like that. And the owner should bring back tator tots as a homage to Trash Bar, or make it off the menu for those in the know. Trash bar was fun back in the day. Hell, I remember when trash bar was Luxx!!

Great new spot in the neighborhood! Ellis, the manager, is very knowledgeable and kind. They only use the highest quality ingredients and cocktails are $12, a very reasonable price for the quality. Great backyard space and live music all the time. So happy to have them in the hood!
