"The Session Room, a westside taproom and restaurant, has been closed since March 15 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Owners Dave Fichera and Steve Kleinschmidt planned to take a 'wait-and-see' approach to reopening. As time went on during the dine-in closures, the partners made the decision to switch their point-of-sale system to one that was better acclimated to online ordering and curbside takeout. With reopening, the new system will also allow for safer processes, as it reduces the need for waitstaff to make as many trips throughout the restaurant and includes touchless payments. 'It’s still a new system and there will be some growing pains,' Fichera says. He likens the experience to opening for the first time, as inventories need to be replenished and staff rehired in time for a targeted opening date of June 9. Some supply chain issues will require temporary adjustments to the menu. 'Hamburger and meat prices have gone through the roof,' he says. Nevertheless, Fichera is cautiously optimistic as the restaurant’s large indoor and outdoor spaces 'allow for safe distancing and a festive environment.'" - John Reyes

Session Room in Ann Arbor is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy good food and a laid-back atmosphere. The menu offers a solid variety of well-prepared dishes, and the extensive craft beer selection is a definite highlight. The staff is consistently friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming vibe of the place. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite, meeting friends, or planning a casual night out, the relaxed setting—complete with indoor and outdoor seating—makes it a great choice. One of the best perks is the free parking, which is rare and super convenient in this part of town. With reasonable prices, quality food, and great service, Session Room easily earns a spot on the list of local favorites.

Google
We recently visited The Session Room with a group of six. We made a reservation and were seated right away. The whole evening was so fun and we had exceptional service from Moe! He was so kind and helpful with food and drink recommendations. (Even mocktails for us non drinkers). He was very attentive to our needs and he made the evening even more fun. We will absolutely come back and request him if possible!!

Google
Great spot - good food, plentiful brews, lots of TVs to catch your favorite team. Currently their ‘seasonal special’ ahi tuna bowl with yum yum sauce is so yum yum I forgot to take a pic until I was almost done.

Brendan Payne

Google
I had the guacamole and chicken tacos and both were great. I ordered a flight and the rainbow IPA and baby kittens IPA were both very good. Definitely worth checking this place out!

Google
One of my favorites in the summer! I love the huge tent in the back and the fact they have so many drink choices. You can sample and get flights. Service is great. I do wish they had more vegan options for food but I did get a pizza without cheese and it was amazing!

Google
I really enjoy the Session Room! We got appetizers, entrees, and desserts - all were delicious. The service was friendly. It can get a little loud in the restaurant, but otherwise the atmosphere is nice.

Google
I dropped by this location of Arbor Brewing to try a flight of their beers. The interior was roomy and casual, and the staff was decently friendly. The beers I tried were pretty solid, although I think their cider was actually my favorite. I’ll have to try the other location sometime.

Google
What a great spot! Been meaning to stop in here and see what it's all about for a while now and I'm glad I finally did. Great food and drink selection. Menu isnt huge, featuring a great selection of appetizers, sandwiches and pizzas along with a few changing specials make this place easy to pick something great. Prices are pretty steep, my pork sandwich set me back nearly twenty bucks, but the food was definitely on point and tasty. For the price though, I feel like a side other than bagged potato chips would have been a bonus. The pizza was fantastic and definitely more bang for your buck. Service was bette than average. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and made sure we were taken care of the entire visit with a smile.

Yelp
We were trying to find a place for a family dinner for two young children and 8 adults. Luckily, the tables are large and the restaurant was spacious and could seat us all. Half the table cautiously got bibimbop bowls with salmon. While I wouldn't consider it a bibimbop, it was a delicious rice bowl. We were all shocked that a sports bar had done so well with Asian cuisine. My partner got the chicken bacon naan wrap and the brisket chilli. He said his food was really good as well. For a large crowd, this is definitely a good place to go and watch a game and relax. If your kids can sit at a table, it's also kid friendly.

Royce D.

Yelp
Overall: really solid bibimbap, in a really spacious sports bar with friendly service. I ordered the bibimbap with miso salmon because I was craving a rice bowl with vegetables. Admittedly my expectations were low because this is a sports bar that serves mostly American foods like pizza and burgers. It was not a very authentic bibimbap, but the salmon was super flavorful and crispy, and it also comes with steamed broccoli, soy sauce mushrooms, and some pretty good kimchi. I was pleasantly surprised by how good and filling the meal was. We easily got a table for five on a weekday afternoon, waiting only 10 minutes for our seat. The inside is a super spacious sports bar, with many TVs playing different sports. The staff is friendly and checked in on us multiple times.

Yelp
Went in today on a Wednesday. Service: Raye was a great server, very bubbly, kind and attentive; even when it was very busy. The host was nice and they are usually very polite. Food: I ordered (I forget the name on the menu) a bbq burger with 2 year aged white cheddar, bacon, lettuce, onion and bbq. It was so good. I never finish a burger completely and this one I did. I also ordered one of their specials, the asparagus. It came with an incredible Caesar dressing, bread crumbs, Parmesan, and on top sat delicious, fresh asparagus. I ate everything before I thought to write a review on yelp so I have no pictures. I came here alone this time, but I've been before with friends and it was always great. Plus we've always gotten the best server, Raye. Ambiance: chill vibe, very "tavern". I want live music outside.

Yelp
This place is such a gem on the West side. I've been coming here since they opened. Fab, ecclectic menu and amazing beer and wine flights. My faves include: pizzas and the nachos. The nachos are the best that I have ever had. Very creative, unique toppings. The cheese is the perfect liquify texture and the micro greens balance all the other toppings so well. My baby cakes loved the BLT. The bacon was thick and so flavorful.

Linda I.

Yelp
Excellent spot to gather with friends! The Session Nachos are absolutely standout, and HUGE (for me, best shared with a group!). Pizzas are good too, with interesting seasonal options. Extensive beer menu that leans towards MI beers, and there are absolutely options for any kind of beer lover. The interior is large and set up to facilitate seating for large groups or smaller ones (semi-communal). Friendly service! Plenty of easy parking on-site.

Chris D.

Yelp
Delicious! Everything we had was delicious. Standout item was the Session Nachos - chips are seasoned by themselves and then all the toppings including their own in-house nacho cheese makes it the best I've had thus far. Many other places serve nachos and they all taste the same because they are all using same ingredients. Not Session nachos. I'm definitely coming back here minimally for this. Roasted beet salad- beautiful presentation, beets freshly roasted. Truffled goat cheese didn't seem to pair well with the beets for me and I couldn't taste a hint of the balsamic in the dressing. I could only taste puréed beet in dressing. Other than that very fresh everything on the salad. Pizza was excellent - 1 size available only, 8 medium-sized slices. The crust alone is thin, tasty with a crunch on the edge. Right amount and mix of toppings. We ordered the featured pizza special - sopressata margherita. Comfortable pub/restaurant vibe, pretty large with lots of tables. They also have a covered patio to accommodate their many patrons but it was too cold for me. We waited a bit longer and was lucky enough to get a booth inside, which was much better because the crowd and vibe along with the bar is all inside. Lots of people wanting to eat here and it's obvious why. Arrived 5pm on Friday and there was already a wait, about 20-30min. By the time we left the entrance was filled with people waiting.

Robert D.

Yelp
Actually served my wife's cream brûlée before the pizza but she loved it. Great pizza. Reminds me of Italy- thin but slightly crunchy crust. Fresh mushrooms.

Jacob S.

Yelp
Awesome place, has nice indoor and outdoor seating and a great food service and also has nice and kind staff there too! 100% recommend if you wanna get a drink with a friend or watch a game.

Martha R.

Yelp
The food here is very solid. Tasty pizzas and salads, but definitely too high price-wise for me to go here very often. We used to go after playing pickleball until we found Carlyle... and now we are regulars there (especially since we typically play Monday and Session is closed on Mondays.) The service is really hit or miss... a few times we got terrible service, a few times good, and once or twice great. The decor is nice and relaxed... nothing of note. The beer and wine selection meets my needs, but again for the price, you'll find me at Carlyle.

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Review is for their beers only as I didn't have any food. I've heard about it/seen it while driving by but I hadn't been until a friend planned a group get together. I was pleasantly surprised! They have awesome beer offerings. I mean DELIRIUM RED ON TAP? Heck yeaah. I'll be coming here just for that in the future. They also have a great selection of sours so I got a flight of sours as well. The patio space is really nice - large wooden picnic tables make it easy for large groups. Unfortunately dogs are NOT allowed on the patio.

Tim C.

Yelp
I ordered a Greek Salad, which I have to say was very good. For a remodeled hardware store, the place is very cool. On the other hand, our server should have called in sick that day. He was awful.

Ted T.

Yelp
Great selection of entrees and pizza with monthly specials and a good bar. Had their nachos and beer pretzels as starters. The beer pretzels were excellent. I ordered their special pork belly pizza with a Hefeweizen beer. A wonderful meal. Overall, a great neighborhood hangout with cool atmosphere and a tasty menu.

Bob M.

Yelp
We love the Session Room. We almost always get a pizza here as they do make a great wood fired pizza! The beer selection is fantastic and the waitstaff are always friendly and responsive. The cavernous interior somewhat abates the noise from other patrons when the place is hopping as it often is. The outside beer garden is a nice place to relax on a warm summer evening and enjoy the meal and some suds.

Jason P.

Yelp
I don't get the reviews on this place. I think people are very mean and take posting reviews. Very seriously I for one had a great experience. Our server, Abby, was awesome. The food, was awesome, and the beer, was awesome, so don't read any farther just read my review go there get some beer have a burger and other stuff and then just chill out cool bye-bye

Dennis S.

Yelp
A good selection of rotating beers. The loaded beer cheese pretzels are a good way to start the meal. Awesome BLT, the Confit nueske's bacon must be tried at least once in a life time. Can't go wrong with any of the burgers. We also enjoy the Bi Bim Bap bowls, they are a good choice as well.

Christopher W.

Yelp
So many beers. So many beers. Large outdoor seating area as a Beer Garden should have. If you need to watch a game the indoor area is perfect for that too. I had the burger, ehh.

Stacy E.

Yelp
Great pub food! From scratch, fantastic beer list, kind people working, hard. I had a beautiful burger with Vermont cheddar. Kettle chips were done perfectly. I had a flight with my burger. So perfect. Burger with a thick slice of Vermont Cheddar. Kettle chips were really great not greasy. Service was exceptional. This place is going in my favorites.

S L.

Yelp
Sooooooo loud. I can't even stand it. We brought company to eat and he had to put in ear plugs. I'm beyond embarrassed.

Ashley G.

Yelp
Having a great time every time I visit is something to be credited for! Good job to Session Room for making such a fun place for friends to get together.

John H.

Yelp
My review is based on my positive experiences during my last two visits. Friendly staff and a ample size beer garden with multiple picnic-style tables. Large rotating draft selection. The food. meh. Sandwiches, pizza, and salads. I was in the mood for a burger. My choice on the menu BBQ Cheddar. Sweet and generally not my preference but it was fine for the moment. No fries available. Chips or other sides.

Brian V.

Yelp
Took a bunch of employees here for a casual dinner and drinks. The food, drinks and service were all great. I really enjoyed my salmon burger. After ringing up a bill over $200, I accidentally forgot to take my receipt home. I called the next day and Martine helped me get my receipt back, emailed to me within one day. I had low hopes I'd get my receipt back, but she was great and got it to me. They could've blown me off, but they went the extra mile to get the receipt so I could expense the meal. She was very pleasant and patient on the phone and she diligently worked to find my receipt and get it back to me!

David L.

Yelp
I'm really trying to like this place. The menu is interesting, the beer selection is vast, but for an establishment that specializes in beer, is there a reason why they can't give me a full pint of beer. This is how our beers came out. The second round was no better even after asking the server for them to be filled. The first time I blame the bartender, the second time the waitstaff. Couldn't even use the excuse of "head" because there was none.

Avrille H.

Yelp
My partner and I took our parents here for dinner last night to meet for the first time. It was an important meal for us, but unfortunately the service made the experience less than ideal. While the staff were friendly, they were making it clear that they wanted us out of that restaurant as fast as possible. The server kept awkwardly asking us whether we were done with our plates, while we were very clearly still eating. Then while people were still eating and had declined to have our plates taken away, the server came back and asked if we wanted boxes. This was 45 minutes into our reservation. Our reservation was at 6 and while my father got there 20 mins early and was seated at the table, the rest of us arrived at 6. By 6:45, they were bringing us boxes and asking if we wanted dessert. We all still had half full beers and had barely gotten to know one another. While they do have a table time limit of 90 minutes I believe, we were not close to being in excess of that (even if you count my father being seated early). We stuck around for a few more minutes to finish our beers and try to spend more time together, but ultimately the service detracted from the experience of having our parents meet for the first time. While we historically liked Session Room, we are going to find a new goto place that doesn't make us feel rushed.

Kevin H.

Yelp
Session Room is a terrific place for beer selection and sports. Their food, however, is hit or miss. Their sandwiches are pretty good but their bibimbap is the worst I have ever had. Whoever made the recipe has never tasted bibimbap before. The veggies were steamed, not fresh. There was no red sauce and the kimchi was lackluster. To top it all off, it cost $17, which is also the most expensive bibimbap I've seen. I feel foolish for getting it, quite honestly.

Drew M.

Yelp
Session Room did a great job at remodeling an old building which I appreciate. They have a very large selection of craft beer and the bartenders have always been very friendly. Smaller menu but they specialize in pizza. The pizza is really good. No flop. Light and fluffy with high quality ingredients. Although I had to take a loan out to pay for it ($21)?! It was an overall good experience that you wont regret trying.

Sandra B.

Yelp
Great Beer Selection food was outstanding and so was the service would definitely come back

Laura K.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere, good drinks and food and reasonable prices. It is a great place to go with larger groups like happy hour after work as there are plenty of long tables and lots of room.

S. C.

Yelp
Good beer, great food, amazing service. Inside is super cute -- love the industrial artsy thing. Went for a late lunch on a weekday, so might not be accurate for a busier time, but was very happy

Annie C.

Yelp
I'll be honest that I went into this dinner with somewhat low expectations - I figured this would be a place that focused on beer (which they certainly do!) with food being less of a priority but I was delightfully incorrect. I got the Ken's Winter Salad and it was one of the best salads I've had in ages. The greens were fresh, perfect amount of toppings with the roasted sweet potato, pepita seeds, and goat cheese and the salad dressing was fantastic. We also shared some spinach artichoke dip (the pita bread it came with was so soft and delicious) and garlic bread. Will absolutely return the next time I'm in town!

Nick W.

Yelp
Sat outdoors and had great vibe in community table seating. Great beer menu and solid variety in food. Got the BLT with super thick cut smoky bacon. Recommend this spot.

Erin P.

Yelp
Food was really good! Doesn't make you feel great physically but it's a a sacrifice I'm willing to make for pizza, cheesy bread and pretzels with beer cheese haha! Our server stopped by 2 times once we got our food but never refilled drinks which was a bummer but there was another event happening so that may have impacted it. The back covered patio is a great place to enjoy an afternoon in Michigan!

Greatclips H.

Yelp
I dined here with my family and our server Chloe was very attentive and the crème brûlée was especially delicious!

Michael R.

Yelp
Great and friendly upbeat vibe. Pretty diverse menu with some great seasonal specials. Staff always very attentive and friendly.

Jon F.

Yelp
We reserved a six top for inside so we could watch our favorite teams on multiple TVs. The Session Room did not honor our reservation! Instead, we were seated under a tent outdoors. All of our drinks were great, and anyone should expect that as it's a beer hall. All of the food here is sub-par. None of the dishes we'd ordered was any good at all. I've attempted many times to find something I like on the menu, but have been unsuccessful. When I asked if I could bring a cake in for the guest of honor, I was told that a $25 cake cutting fee was required. (fine, that's typical... but unnecessary. ) Bathrooms well designed, but unclean and disgusting. I will never spend my money here again.

Lily N.

Yelp
I came here with a group of 5 on a Thursday night and the place was packed! Luckily this restaurant has so much seating we didn't have to wait for a table at all. The waitress came and took our order and was quick bring our drinks. I ordered the Cajun pasta which was super yummy! The last time I came here I ate some sort of cheese gnocchi that was AMAZING but unfortunately they didn't have it anymore. I asked for a side of naan bread and the waitress came back with pita bread from the spinach and artichoke dip, yes I notice the difference. Speaking of spinach and artichoke dip, it was our appetizer and it was creamy and delicious! The food took about 40 minutes, but I think it's worth it. The service was decent, but nothing special. I definitely would come back! The food is always good and I love the rustic bar feel!

Aaron W.

Yelp
Great space to watch a game and gather with a small group. Good beer selection, reasonable prices, and often running specials. But the food is not good (sorry, no other way to say it). Went here to watch a U of M basketball game with a group of three. We sat at the communal tables which were spacious. The walls are lined with TVs for easy viewing and there are several large windows to let in natural light. They piped the sound from the game through the entire place which made for a nice atmosphere for cheering. We were disappointed with our food though. We got a burger with some onion and cheddar to share. The burger itself was okay but the toppings were sparse and not flavorful and the side of chips paled in comparison to fries (they do not offer fries in the menu). We also shared a margarita pizza, which was just sad. It was a solid 80% dough and looked like someone had accidentally dropped some cheese and tomatoes on top. Not satisfying or filling at all. My girlfriend got a beer she liked for just $4 in special for St. Patrick's Day. In general their beer selection looked good.

Tyler B.

Yelp
Amazing place with great outdoor seating and it's very warm under the tent! The food and beer options are great.

Steve T.

Yelp
This place is great, lots of Craft beers! They Serve cattle which is great! The steak is to Die for, Jessica is my fav bartender Moe is awesome

Jenny K.

Yelp
Session Room is our go-to local spot for big group get togethers or intimate nights for two. With seating including booths, tables, hightops, wooden bar and outdoor benches They offer a rotating selection of beers including Belgian style and Sours (and a menu of whats to come) Pizza: we always do either the cheese (amazing) or the Marg Nachos: Session Nachos are out of this world delicious Guacamole: Always perfect texture and blend of spices Monthly events including Euchre!

Marcus M.

Yelp
My son and I went here today and I was very disappointed. They charge you $15-20 for a product that is mediocre at best. The service was as good as the food. I'm not impressed and my standards are low. I will never eat here again.

Ed W.

Yelp
Good spot. Tons of beers, but they have wines and spirits as well. The staff is super friendly and the food is really good, too. There are tons of TV and a lot of room, so it is a good spot to watch sports with your friends. We went in January, so the outdoor area was not open. I look forward to visiting again in the warmer months.

Edwin P.

Yelp
I love the Session Room's vibe and huge tap list, with over 70 beers on tap and frequent rotations. There's a ton of TVs to catch sports and friendly and responsive waitstaff. However, the food was mediocre. I ordered the Mississippi pulled pork sandwich with a side of broccoli to be a little heathy. The sandwich was kind of soggy and fell apart, and didn't have that mouth watering richness of pulled pork. The food Itself is 3 stars, but the vibe and beer list is 5 stars, so they even out at 4 overall.

Aparna B.

Yelp
Nice to see something new pop up on the west side of town. The space is huge and would be great for football-watching weekends. I can see why beer people love it - they definitely have a lot of taps and some hanging from the ceiling of things they don't yet serve but plan to serve. We were interested in going here because of the hype from friends, but also the "Asian street food" I had heard they offered. Perhaps they only offered that when they first opened, or during happy hours, because we didn't see any of those items on the menu. We did order some guac and chips and it was pretty tasty. Came out very quickly which makes me think it's not made completely fresh? The flavors were still spot on. We also ordered some cocktails that were delicious, average-priced but not very strong. I had seen on the menu that you could take any burger and make it vegetarian by subbing the in-house vegetarian patty. I did this with their classic cheeseburger, but I got their in-house vegetarian patty. The burger was pretty good, but didn't hold up very well and kind of fell all over the place. My husband ordered one of their pizza's - the balsamic and mushroom one. He wasn't overly impressed. He said it was tasty and had good flavors, but it was really pizza. It was like a thin chip then piled super high with toppings -- so much so it was hard to pick up and eat like a slice of pizza. We had a good experience and our staff was friendly, but unfortunately we weren't super wow'd and I'm not sure we'll be back.

Caroline V.

Yelp
Cool spot if you want to watch a game and enjoy a drink or five. Lots of tv's and lots of great beer! The prices are reasonable as well.

Charlene S.

Yelp
The first thing I noticed: if you like beer, they have a large selection. The place was larger than I thought, and on a Sunday night, the place was lively, but not chock full. *** They also take reservations. Service was good, food was not too bad. Vegetarian review: Crimini Balsamic pizza. Plenty of goat cheese, roasted garlic, and mushrooms. The crust of the pizza is more like a crispy flat bread, which was fine- there was a good crisp to it and the balsamic drizzle was not bad either. The flavors were pretty good, just not fantastic. Would I go again? Yes. Would I try something different? Yes. Would I get the pizza again? Maybe. Service was also good- we were checked on regularly, and the server asked if anyone wanted more beers, but she wasn't pushy, which was nice.

Beth H.

Yelp
Great space and outdoor patio. Large open dining room with a focus on the bar under the large TVs. Inside is darker with high ceilings and multiple types of tables to accommodate varying parties. We visited on a Tuesday night and it was too nice outside to sit inside. The picnic tables are shaded and bricks are each table help your menus from blowing away. Staff was very friendly, but not very fast. The food service was fast though. The beer selection is amazing, as you would think it would be. The food was good, but won't bring me back for more. I had the Cajun pasta - it wasn't spiced much and the pasta was cooked well, but ultimately had little flavor. Nice grilled chicken on top and I had plenty of leftovers. My husband's burger was surprisingly small. The homemade chips were nice. We also had the guacamole for appetizer. There was something about it that wasn't right. It wasn't fresh - tasted like it was prepackaged. We enjoyed the visit, happy to fill our bellies but the food was unremarkable. Great place to meet friends for a beer and munch on something. The stage out back looked interesting too. We'll have to come back when there is someone playing on stage. Definitely a great hangout

James V.

Yelp
Wow! Best in Ann Arbor! The waitress Kaitlin V. was excellent! Great service . Tacos, beer and pizza delicious. We will be back again and again.

Yelp
SCAMMY CORRUPT BUSINESS!!! I applied to work here as a server and they kept me for over an hour-long interview. After said interview was finished, the manager Miguel told me to come in for a "meeting" the following Friday. I came in and was forced to work for 5 hours UNPAID. Along with 2 other people that hadn't been paid, we all were made to work for hours on a BUSY FRIDAY NIGHT. They even FORGOT ABOUT ME! One of the hostesses had to remind the managers to relieve me after working for over 5 hours on several different positions and doing hard labor to the point where I was sweating and starting to become stressed (not usual for me as I am an experienced server). I was told I would get a follow up call the following Tuesday. I never received a phone call so I took it upon myself to reach out to them by the Tuesday afterwards (a whole week after they said they would contact me.) They said they had to "talk things over with another manager and would call me back later that day". THAT WAS A LIE. i have never felt so disrespected and taken advantage of. Don't waste your time applying here or supporting this shady business. They do this often!!! they take advantage of applicants on busy weekends to get FREE LABOR!!! It's been OVER 3 WEEKS and i have heard NOTHING from them. I have no respect for this business and I never plan on stepping foot in this company again!!!

Lisa L.

Yelp
Our service last night could have been better. When we joined our party for drinks and dinner, it took our server over 10 minutes to even acknowledge we were there. When our food came out, we asked for a side of parmesan cheese. Our server eventually brought it out after the pizza was eaten. I hope the next time we go we get better services. As for our server, she seemed to have enjoyed herself socializing with co-workers instead of taking care of her customers.

Suzanne B.

Yelp
While planning on getting together with some friends, we wanted to try somewhere new. They suggested the Session Room, a place that I had passed several times but never checked out yet. With our date set, I looked forward to our visit. On a chilly Sunday afternoon, we headed on out to Jackson Rd, and into the warm and inviting atmosphere that is the Session Room. Don't let the nondescript brick exterior fool you -- this is a pretty cozy craft brewery, and apparently has a great patio once the nice weather comes back around. Grab a seat at the bar, or grab a table and enjoy great service. We opted for a table and spread out with a board game before ordering. The pizzas looked delicious, but since we were just there for a game and a quick drink, I'll have to save that review for another time. I'm not a beer fan, but even I found a light and tasty sangria that almost tasted like Kombucha to wet my whistle. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and we quickly relaxed and enjoyed the great experience at the Session Room. If my review has at all enticed your, I hope that soon you do too!
