"Open since 2017, NYC import the Smith has quickly become a Penn Quarter favorite for its bright, open brasserie room and solid menu of seasonal American fare. Be warned: crowds get pretty packed during happy hour." - Missy Frederick
"The all-day import in Penn Quarter opens at 8:30 a.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. on weekends, offering highulballs, mules, and more." - Missy Frederick
"The Smith in Penn Quarter has a Martini Hour for early tipplers and late night folks. Weekdays it’s 3-6 p.m. and then starting at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The menu includes $12 martinis, $13 half dozen oysters, a raw bar platter, and snacks like black truffle arancini." - Claudia Rosenbaum
"We still dream about the sticky toffee pudding at this American brasserie in Penn Quarter where tourists and a growing evening crowd of after-work powersuits eagerly unwind. The Smith is simultaneously always busy, yet always available for last-minute bookings and walk-ins where warm lighting accentuates decadent art deco designs and architecture. Instead of commiting to a sit down meal, ditch dinner for zesty drinks at the bar like their lychee gimlet and order the sticky toffee pudding (must be repeated) which can be shared, though you probably won’t want to." - omnia saed, tristiana hinton
"This American brasserie in Penn Quarter is simultaneously always busy yet always available for last-minute bookings and walk-ins. The venue is big for DC standards—you won’t bump shoulders awkwardly on your way to the bathroom and you can choose from various seating options including booths and high-top tables. Notwithstanding the size, there’s still an intimate feel to the space, the lighting is warm and the art deco design and architecture feels luxurious. On the menu, there are clear standouts like salmon tartare and the lychee gimlet but it's the sticky toffee pudding made from medjool dates, brown sugar and molasses that has us reeling." - omnia saed
