The restaurant was located underneath the Newseum and enjoyed status as a power dining spot that attracted politicians and celebrities. The closure was attributed to a change in landlords and the challenges of operating during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Source was known for leading D.C. out of the steakhouse era and being an early proponent of izakaya and hot pot service.
