12 Exciting Things To Eat & Do This November - London - The Infatuation

"I am going foraging. Say it to yourself with confidence. Foraging, yes, I am going foraging. The ultimate mash up of being out there frolicking with our gal, Mother Nature, and being really into food, foraging tends to be one of those things that feels pretty daunting. Mostly because of visceral childhood memories of a Brownies leader shouting “do not eat that berry!“. Anyway, the good people at vegan pub, The Spread Eagle, are making the whole foraging thing more approachable with their series of foraging walks alongside Flavour Fred - man named Fred who is apparently a foraging expert, good for him. The two-hour walk across Hackney Marshes is £60 and includes hunting and collecting seasonal treats, plus foraged cocktails and canapés back at the pub. Wear a jacket, obviously." - heidi lauth beasley

8 Best New Restaurants in London Right Now - AFAR

"Opened as London’s first fully vegan pub, this Homerton spot reimagines the traditional Sunday roast with inventive, meat-free fare that wins over omnivores. Standouts include fish-finger sandwiches made from “tofish,” mushroom scallops, and jackfruit carnitas that convincingly mimic pulled pork, plus exceptional triple-fried chips and a rotating selection of 16 vegan beers." - Emma John

It's a vegan pub with a lovely atmosphere. I was part of a large group and we all got served fairly quickly. The garden area is lovely, especially in warm weather. The staff was nice and smiley and there was a good vibe on the Friday karaoke night. The decor is very nice but you can tell it hasn't been recently refurbished, just as you would expect from your average pub. The music playing was also good and in line with the pub's atmosphere. The food was varied and interesting although choice was very limited when it came to mains (see website for more details). I had the Beyond beef burger and despite not being vegan, I thoroughly enjoyed it, though the toppings were a bit scarce and the "meat" a bit burnt in places. The fries were tasty and not greasy at all. Shame they ran out of the fried aubergine at 7pm as it looked really good. Overall, all dishes looked tasty, though I didn't get the chance to try anything else. (I posted this review on other websites too)

The Spread Eagle — Where Charm Meets Craft Tucked away with quiet confidence, The Spread Eagle is the kind of pub that doesn’t shout—it welcomes. From the moment you step inside, there’s a sense of thoughtful curation: vintage touches, warm wood tones, and a layout that invites both conversation and solitude. The drink selection is impressive without being overwhelming. Local ales, seasonal brews, and a few unexpected gems make it a haven for both casual sippers and curious connoisseurs. The food? Comfort elevated. Classic pub fare is given just enough flair to feel special—crispy fish and chips, rich pies, and vegetarian options that don’t feel like an afterthought. Staff here strike the perfect balance: attentive but never intrusive, friendly without forced cheer. You get the sense they care—not just about the service, but about the space itself. Whether you're nursing a pint in a quiet corner or sharing laughter over a hearty meal, The Spread Eagle delivers more than just a night out. It offers a pause, a pocket of warmth, a reminder that good hospitality is an art.

Such a cute pub, lovely staff and delicious food. The roast was so delicious and it’s great they had so many gluten free options. Staff were all so friendly, it’s just a really nice vibe. Definitely recommend. Creamy leeks are a must!

Best boozer, best people, best food. Always have a lovely time here whether we’re eating, drinking or just hanging out (or all three!!) We recently really enjoyed a pub quiz which we were terrible at. The food here is amazing, highly recommend the roast on a Sunday but their seasonal menus are always brilliant too whether you’re after pub classics or something a bit fancier :)

Google
Most amazing meal ever, the staff are so friendly and the food is incredible, being a vegan I find it’s hard to find places to eat or even an option on a menu but this place has everything! The quality of the food and prices are great, would love to be local as I would be here all the time! Definitely give this place a visit

Google
Absolutely incredible pub. Top notch vegan food (all through the week and the amazing Sunday roasts too). We booked the venue for our wedding reception and can’t thank the staff enough for the most incredible night. Not only was the spread eagle an affordable choice in a sea of expensive wedding venues, but knowing that we could have the entire thing vegan friendly from the food to the drinks at a place that shares our ethos was so important to us. Seeing that it is an LGBTQ+ inclusive venue especially tipped the scales - there’s nowhere else we would have rather celebrated our wedding. Organising the wedding was a dream, special shout out to the bar manager Sherri, who made everything so smooth and celebratory. We didn’t stress once. Our guests were so complimentary about the service and how nice the bar staff are. The other thing our guests won’t shut up about: THE FOOD. We had an amazing buffet including deep friend mushrooms, squashage rolls, tofu katsu curry, quinoa salad, kale salad, veganzola lettuce cups, and more. We had worried that a guest list of almost 100 non-vegans would walk away complaining about “that vegan wedding” and we’ve heard nothing but praise from them since. Special thanks to the chef for sitting down with us to plan the meal and for showing a room full of traditional northern meat eaters that vegan food can be delicious. We will be back again and again for food and drinks. I’d advise anyone to visit and try for themselves, and if you’re looking for a venue to book out for a party or wedding (vegan or not) look no further.

Booked a roast at the Spread Eagle on the recommendation of a friend. As veggies (or close to it), it's great knowing you have the whole menu to choose from, although it did make selecting an option that bit harder when you're used to just the one! We eventually settled on the beet wellington and the roasted celeriac, the latter because I needed to try the 'crackling'. We also ordered a side of creamed leeks and the shamembert, both of which I'd recommend. Everything was delicious. The gravy was admittedly on the thin side, but still tasted great. I'm still trying to work out what the crackling was. Perhaps deep fried celariac? In any case it was well received. I finished up with a brownie - not something I usually order, but I was persuaded by it being chocolate orange - which was FANTASTIC. Really gooey and well portioned. Service was excellent and the beer selection was great. Will definitely return to try out the nut roast and/or other options added to the menu.

Yelp
Delicious Sunday lunch. The staff was very friendly. There was a small delay with our meal, which was not a big deal at all, and they comped the entire meal. Super generous. Nut roast and beet Wellington were both very good. Also highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding!

Yelp
This place is legit! I've never been to a 100% vegan place ever and this was amazing! The food was incredible and it's nice knowing the furniture, beer, and cocktails are vegan too. The space is really cool and the servers are super friendly. There's no happy hour, but they do offer 2 for 1 drinks 7-close on Fridays. There's great music and vibes in this place!

Yelp
Amazing place: 100% vegan. Tried the tacos, hot wings and bbq... all delicious! And a nice selection of beers on tap. Definitely worth the trip to meet this super friendly staff!

Yelp
I was so shocked when I found their food was vegan! It's so good! I had 3 tacos, I know one was "fish" one was "pulled pork" and I can't remember the other, but omg they were so good! Then I had some wine and I was a rose' I believe, and it was delicious. I would definitely return here again to try more of their food. The atmosphere is nice, the staff was super sweet and service was quick! I loved it here I would give it more stars if I could.

Yelp
Service is poor. Be prepared to wait for a while, even if there is no one else waiting and check your order. Nice space, but small and short on seating as unoccupied tables typically reserved. The pub across the road is not quite as cutesy but has more space, including a beer garden, a better beer selection and much better service.

Yelp
This pub has bar stools at the bar! This is one of the best things ever...that way if my friends are late, or I just feel like going for a pint on my own, I can sit at the bar and chat with the bartender...rather than sitting all alone at a table too big for one. They have a decent selection of beers, and the food that I have tried was nice...but I've only had a few bits. (although I did see someone eating a burger and they looked like they were enjoying it). Jackdaw and Star is near enough to me to be one of my locals...and I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
A very good pub in the style (I imagine) it was taken over looking like, serving BBQ inspired food at a reasonable price. The been selection is second-to-none for London craft beers, with staff happy to talk - and taste - you through the menu. There are a few fun things, such as chance each evening to win a bar tab, a weekly quiz as well as one-off events. The outside area is relatively small, but nice for a summer evening, and the island bar has well stocked spirit shelves. Being a stones-throw from Homerton station means you can't really go too far wrong!

The shepherds pie was sensational! If you haven't eaten here you are missing out! Amazing atmosphere with friendly staff we were waited on hand and foot! The organic wine was top notch too. We will be definitely be sticking around The Jackdaw and Star. Vlad & Jess

Yelp
I really enjoyed a Sunday lunch at this pub in Homerton. It was chicken thigh, not chcken breast so it was really juicy and succulent. And there were two Yorkshire puds. Two!! That was a special treat :)

Yelp
Excellent beer and friendly staff. Great bbq food. Chef chatted to us on her way out home, just to make sure we enjoyed her cooking. Highly recommend
