The Twisted Spine

As an avid reader of horror this bookstore was a dream (nightmare?) come true. An excellent selection of books with so many different categories of horror. The bookstore is laid out nicely and the ambience is perfection; candles on tables, spooky decor. While perusing take a moment to sit by the fireplace in one of the cozy chairs and enjoy a cafe drink. I had low expectations for the cafe but was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the drinks were. We had a maple latte and a yeti while visiting, both fantastic. Definitely worth a visit if in the area, or worth a trip if you're a bit further like me. You'll be glad you went! - public restroom was clean and nice

Their selection of horror books is wonderful! I always find something new and interesting to read! They have a great cafe and fun events, as well!

I’m an avid horror reader, and I chose Twisted Spine as the place to gather with my friends and family to celebrate my birthday in a space that represented all the oddities that I love. It ended up being the perfect afternoon full of books, coffee, and wine. The owner was so welcoming, the selection was amazing and I left with a fun stack I cannot wait to dive into. The hospitality made the experience so memorable. I cant recommend it enough — please go visit, support, and enjoy. I’m already looking forward to coming back again very soon.

The Twisted Spine is a great bookstore, especially if you’re into horror. The selection is entirely horror and very well curated, with a range that goes beyond the obvious titles. It’s easy to spend a long time browsing. The space itself is dark, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, with an atmosphere that feels intentional rather than overdone. The coffee and bar are genuinely good, which makes it an easy place to settle in for a while. Even the public restroom was clean and well maintained, which is always appreciated. Well worth a stop if you’re in Williamsburg, and worth a trip if you’re not.

It's the most beautiful horror bookstore i ever went to and i want to thank the owner to make this happen to open this wonderful book store its a welcoming inspiration to all horror fans and newcomers to experience what twisted spine is all about in NYC we rarely get any spooky/horror themed places of Cafe and it's either hard to find or you have to travel very far to find it this bookstore/Cafe takes horror to a creative extent of comfort while your enjoying coffee or reading a good book or having a delicious pastries makes you feel right at home. I'll be coming here more often wanting forevermore nevermore 🖤💀

If you’re a book lover, this place is a must-see. The atmosphere is impeccable: fun, twisted and cozy. Every detail feels thoughtfully curated, from the décor to the drink menu. We had an oat milk latte (we didn’t get very adventurous 😅), and it was delicious! The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Thank you for the lovely experience!

The best bookstore for horror lovers. They have both popular and niche authors, and a beautiful bar with treats, wine and coffee. I left with six new books that I'm more than excited to dig into, there's something there for every type of horror lover. Met one of the owners and he was so sweet, and a staff member helped me find a book to suit my tastes. Will be back again and again.

My cousin, a horror enthusiast, introduced me to this store! It's a cozy space, with half dedicated to a cafe – perfect for browsing and finding your next spooky read. They have a small gift shop by the entrance with a few necklaces and earrings, I particularly loved the gold heart necklace. I enjoyed the translated and dark romance sections, although the translated section could use more options, I found a couple that peaked my interest. The cafe area surprisingly has a good amount of seating by the bar and a few chairs/tables, and lodging leather chairs to relax with your coffee. Additionally, theres even an outdoor area for those needing some peace and quiet to work!
