The Twisted Spine is a horror fan's new favorite haunt - Review - New York - The Infatuation

"It was a dark and stormy night. Or maybe it was actually 11am and sunny. Under the jet-black pressed tin ceiling at The Twisted Spine, you might forget the difference. This horror-centric bookstore and cafe in Williamsburg is a great place to shop, read, work, or even just sip a cappuccino out of a ceramic skull from a tufted armchair by the (electric) fireplace." - Molly Fitzpatrick

Fulton Fish Market Opens Seaport Store Pop-Up With Seafood | Eater NY

"A new bookstore dedicated to all things horror has opened in Williamsburg with shelves of dark literature, a coffee bar, and spooky-ish baked goods. Located at 306 Grand Street near Havemeyer Street, it serves a drinks menu developed by Julie Patadia of Devoción Coffee, including the Mary Shelley (a pandan latte topped with purple taro cream) and the Bela Lugosi Is Dead (a raspberry mocha with a red swirl), with beer and wine in the evenings. Pastries by Hadley Sui range from mini-zombie dolls—red berry–filled pastry crusted and served with chainsaw toothpicks—to pumpkin melon breads with orange cookie toppings and madeleines shaped like vampire teeth, alongside cookies from gothic Long Island bakery Nefarious Confections like the S’morgue, a s’mores–chocolate chip. Co-owners Lauren Komer and Jason Mellow had been running the shop as a pop-up since 2024, and the space now includes eight stools at the coffee bar plus seating throughout the shop and in the backyard, with decor by design firm 71 Collective." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
The best bookstore for horror lovers. They have both popular and niche authors, and a beautiful bar with treats, wine and coffee. I left with six new books that I'm more than excited to dig into, there's something there for every type of horror lover. Met one of the owners and he was so sweet, and a staff member helped me find a book to suit my tastes. Will be back again and again.

My cousin, a horror enthusiast, introduced me to this store! It's a cozy space, with half dedicated to a cafe – perfect for browsing and finding your next spooky read. They have a small gift shop by the entrance with a few necklaces and earrings, I particularly loved the gold heart necklace. I enjoyed the translated and dark romance sections, although the translated section could use more options, I found a couple that peaked my interest. The cafe area surprisingly has a good amount of seating by the bar and a few chairs/tables, and lodging leather chairs to relax with your coffee. Additionally, theres even an outdoor area for those needing some peace and quiet to work!

Really funky spot! I love the decoration and the vibe! I will say, it gets super busy and it can be difficult to find a seat. I will also say it’s a little pricey but the flavors of the coffee drinks are great. The book selection is good and I appreciate that they also have staff picks too. All the staff were really kind and it was a pleasant visit!

The inside of Twisted Spine is absolutely beautiful! Such a perfect spot to stop by, grab a coffee and dive into a book. They have a cute yard area and a cozy fireplace. The owners are so nice and I can not recommend this place enough! Not to mention they have an incredible book selection.

As an avid fan and lover of all things horror I was utterly delighted to see a book shop dedicated to all things spooky and macabre. The staff is friendly and very helpful! There’s a great selection of books broken into different categories from haunted houses, to creatures, to folk horror, pretty much something for every niche. Highly recommend!

Google
such a cute spot! good amount of seating, employees were nice, awesome book selection. i had the hot chocolate, monkey bread & an iced apple cider, they were all good (the hot chocolate was a bit milky for me but still good). my friend enjoyed the vampires kiss latte & the chai. the bathroom is also on theme & spacious. in addition to drinks/baked goods they also sell merch, jewelry and some other items. i do wish they had a savory pastry/food item as well, but other than that i would recommend:)

Cool bookstore. I love the variety of horror books here. I never realized how vast this genre could be. Definitely worth coming and checking out

As a horror girly and avid reader this bookstore is literally a dream come true! The atmosphere is one straight out of a haunted house! Even the bathroom has spooky appeal. There is a café inside with skull mugs for your drinking displeasure and even zombie pies (when available). The book selection is covers a wide variety of Horror sub genres, so there is something for everyone. There is even a kids corner. Definitely will be back soon!
