"The  Round Rock trailer defines itself as Pakistani-Tex-Mex fusion — a novel mash-up of cuisines that truly works. The owners get festive with their dish combinations, serving Birria’s Cousin tacos made with slow-cooked beef and consomé for dipping and tandoori chicken tacos with guacamole salsa. Pair dishes with the Thirsty Turban, an ice cream and soda concoction. There are outdoor tables for on-site dining." - Erin Russell, Sana Khan

"This halal Tex-Mex-Pakistani spot located in the Gattis School Road food-truck park is a prime example of fusion done right. Think birria tacos made with shank slow-cooked Pakistani style, abundant juices soaking into crispy fried tortillas. Or chicken tikka quesadillas, where the smoky char of the grilled chicken blends perfectly into creamy, earthy tomato sauce. People tend to gather around the locally celebrated truck after Happy Hour beers or a light lunch." - Clara Wang

Google
Like many, social media brought us here. If you love desi food and Mexican food, you’ll certainly love this. They blend the flavors so well, and at the same time, keep the flavors authentic. We tried the tandoori tacos and chicken tikka quesadillas. Both were awesome. You can both taste the distinct flavors and feel the foods as a perfect blend at the same time. Definitely recommend.

Google
This place was oh my god mind blowing. I came into town with low expectations on good halal food, but I was proven wrong. This place has the best birria tacos I’ve ever indulged in. I would highly recommend the tandoori tacos, the birria tacos, and the birria cousin tacos. The people were so nice and lively, and I got blown away by this literally and figuratively (it was super windy). Highly highly recommend!!!!!

Daizha

Google
We loved the chicken tikka quesadillas and the cousin’s birria tacos—easily some of the best I’ve ever had. Full of flavor and totally hit the spot. Highly recommend!

Google
Food absolutely lives up to the hype — and name. Owner is wonderful and very friendly. The birria’s cousin tacos are delicious. Honestly, every menu item I’ve tried so far has been extremely fresh and tasteful. Will be back here frequently. Only feedback would be the relative lack of seating out in front.

Google
Had the chance to try this Indian-Mexican fusion food truck, and it was such a pleasant surprise! I got the Combo over Rice and Birria’s Cousin—both were flavorful, well-seasoned, and had a great balance of spices.

Google
Amazing food truck! We had the chicken tandoori tacos, birria tacos, and combination burrito and we couldn’t pick our favorite, it was all so good! We came on a Sunday night and they were busy, but everyone working was really kind and over all had a great vibe. Definitely worth the wait!

Google
Amazing food truck experience. Food was outstanding and exceeded our expectations. We had heard it was excellent but we were not prepared for how delicious it really was. Absolutely recommend the chicken tikka quesadillas. Sitting area was nice and fairly clean. We will for sure be back!

Nabil Merchant

Google
Combination Burrito was amazing - the meat was marinated perfectly. Burris’s cousin is also a good menu item.

Yelp
One of my most fav food trucks in the round rock area. We have been going to Urban turban since their inception and they never disappoint. Most recently, they catered for my child's birthday party, and they exceeded all expectations! The food was delicious, fresh, and plentiful! Guests raved about the Tacos and quesadillas and the variety of sauces catered to all tastes. Excellent communication throughout the planning process. Fawad , the owner, responded promptly to queries and tailored the menu to our needs. Rating: 5/5 stars

Yelp
The food is PHENOMENAL and so is the customer service! I can't wait to bring my friends here to experience this amazing fusion cuisine! 10/10! I had the Birria Quesadilla! It was the best quesadilla I've ever ever had!

Yelp
I recently dined at Urban Turban and was thoroughly impressed by the delicious food. The standout dish was undoubtedly the Tandoori chicken tacos with the cilantro-infused green sauce. The green sauce elevated the tacos to a new level of flavor, perfectly complementing the curry seasoning on the succulent chicken. The addition of cheese and a phenomenal white sauce both inside and on top of the taco added a rich, creamy element that made each bite an absolute delight. When I arrived, I was informed upfront that there would be a 25-minute wait for the Tikka chicken over rice. I appreciated their honesty and, having seen rave reviews and mouth-watering photos, decided the wait would be worth it. My taco arrived promptly, and the entire experience confirmed my decision was the right one. The wait was definitely worthwhile. Urban Turban also offers the convenience of online ordering for pickup or delivery. It's evident from the bustling activity at the restaurant that they handle a significant volume of delivery orders, making it a great option for enjoying their delicious food from the comfort of your home.

Yelp
This was our first time trying The Urban Turban and can I just say.. WOW!!! The food was absolutely delicious!!! My husband got the beef shawarma, my daughter got the chicken shawarma and I had the chicken burrito. The fusion of flavors and spices were just spectacular. I didnt know it was possible to combine my two favorite foods, tikka and tacos, but here you have it and it is incredible. If you've never tried it before you have to check it out. We will definitely be back! Also I would like to mention that the customer service is also impeccable. They were very kind and down to earth. 10/10 recommend.

Shayer S.

Yelp
Honest opinion: The food was just okay. We had to wait for 40 minutes due to orders ahead of us. The expectation of a longer wait was set during ordering, and I appreciated the upfront communication. Additionally, I liked that they prepare everything fresh, choosing that over prepackaged options. However, in terms of whether it was worth it, I would have to say mostly no. Here's what we tried: 1. Turban Cheesesteak and Chicken Tikka Cheesesteak: The meat on both was good, but something was missing, and it felt dry. Cheesesteaks should be gooier and less dry. The description mentions white and red sauces, and visually, there seemed to be some white sauce. However, it probably needed more as it didnt really add anything to the taste, and I couldn't discern if there was any red sauce. For the beef one, the steak pieces should be smaller to allow the cheese and sauces to dig deeper into the meat to enhance the flavor. I appreciate the experimentation, but it doesn't make the best cheesesteaks list, so let's not overhype it. 2. Birri's cousin (beef tacos): This was pretty good, but the fennel taste was too strong. I plan to give them another try, but next time, I'll order ahead to enjoy the food in the comfort of home or somewhere indoors since there's no available heating outside. I highly recommend adding one or two patio heaters, as it would significantly improve the in-person dining experience. There were other food trucks with heaters but unfortunately, they were closed at this hour. I'm leaving it at 3 stars for now, hoping to rate higher next time.

Yelp
W O W for a food truck. My goodness, the reviews that say HIDDEN GEM are NOT lying. Located in / near Round Rock, this place is a MUST GO if you are in ATX. I was hesitant recommending this because of its limited menu, prices, and the fact that it was a food truck but MAN was I mistaken. We went on a Friday evening around 8:30pm and there was another party of 3 sitting at their limited number of tables right in front of the truck. Parking was relatively easy as there weren't too many patrons but it was a dirt road. My husband went to order the birria quesadilla ($14) for me & a chicken over rice platter for himself ($13). I would give the chicken over rice a solid 3 out of 5, but it really reminded me of The Halal Guys and that's just something too familiar w/ my taste buds. BUT, when I say the birria quesadilla was OUT OF THIS WORLD, I freaking mean it. The meat was beyond tender, the flavor was rambunctious, and the simplicity of the quesadilla makes me really wonder "why the hell didn't I ever think of this?" I would drive the TWO hours from my home to come to this establishment and I rave about the quesadilla more often than I'd like to admit. I'd knock off the review from 5 to 4 star because it was quite the wait for these two items (20+ minutes), but I just can't. I believe there were just two gentlemen working in the truck and my food came out piping hot...so it was absolutely fresh.

Harukaze B.

Yelp
This is how fushion food should be! I got taco birria and Tikka over rice. Both are really good. They got some kick packed in them, so if you're not able to eat spicy food, this is not for you. But if you're willing to indulge into the realm of spice, go for it! I ordered online, but the came still fresh!

Maliha C.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food - a new go to spot for my husband and I! I got the tandoori chicken quesadillas and LOVED it. My husband got the chicken over rice and loved his meal too. Great vibe and the owner was kind and obviously great at what he does. The food is delicious, the Thirsty Turban is like a slightly less sweet Pakola and the Mango Lassi was good. I can't wait to go back! Next time I might try the tacos and my husband is thinking of trying their cheesesteak!

Josh C.

Yelp
The reviews are right; this place is a hit! We tried the Birria Cousin (Beef Tacos) and the Chicken Tikka over rice, and were thoroughly impressed. Everything came out hot and fresh, the tacos were melty, juicy, and delicious, and the Tikka was seriously good! The spice level to me was great. It might be a little much for non-spice lovers, but get a mango lassi or some water and it puts that fire out! I have to mention as well that the portions were very good, especially the Tikka over rice. Three of us shared the two dishes and left STUFFED. We came at around 8:30PM, and under a lit pergola, there was a table open and only 2 people ahead of us in line; so it was a relaxing spot, and we got our food within 15 minutes of ordering. The girl that took our order was friendly and helpful. Would return!

Mary F.

Yelp
This was a food truck experience and food was delicious. I had a Cousins Birria Taco meal and probably one of the best I've had. They have picnic tables set up to dine on and service was quite friendly.

Michael S.

Yelp
Awesome food truck! Found this place online and the reviews didn't fail me. Really good food. We also had the quesadilla and it was probably my favorite. The guy explained everything to us and recommended what we ordered. Spot on!

David H.

Yelp
Go here to eat!! Everything I tasted was knock your socks off good! It was just a food truck, but with a menu like this they won't be for long. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
delicious birria tacos, but at over $4 per (small) taco, cannot give 5 stars. i'll say it again - food truck prices should NOT be higher than brick and mortar equivalent restaurants. The significant savings they realize from a bare bones operation should be reflected in their prices and I realize this is now commonplace, but could someone explain what these places' recommended 20/25% tip is for? them picking the food off the grill and setting it on the counter and calling out a name?

Amira B.

Yelp
This was my second time ordering from urban turban. We ordered the tandoori chicken tacos. The flavor was great. I appreciate that they packed 2 salsas for the tacos. So far this is my favorite dish we've tried here. I'd like to come back and try the cheesesteak and other menu items.

Desiree G.

Yelp
Ordered this on Grubhub for Thanksgiving and OMG it was SOOOO good. Burrito was a great size, chicken was a bit sweet, good toppings, and yummy salsa. Birria tacos also a good size, consume was tasty and authentic, meat again was sweet but overall favorite dish. Quesadillas, again with the sweet meat, but still good. Would totally try them again, especially for the birria.

Haley Z.

Yelp
Tried this food truck on a whim while looking up food options in the Hutto surrounding area on the weekend and was very satisfied! We got the Birria's cousin tacos and the Chicken Shawarma. Ordered and only waited about 10 minutes before we had a fresh and tasty meal to take home. The gentleman in the truck was friendly and was eager to make sure we had everything we needed/wanted in a timely and polite manner. There was a small area for eating there and room to park. The red sauce(Turban Sauce) that comes with the Shawarma is so good! If you're looking for a more refreshing option I would suggest this one. If you're looking for a more fried, thicker or deeper flavor go with the Birria. The beef consume that comes with for you to dip the tacos in is a perfect amount of spice if you're fairly used to it. If you're not a fan of spice the good news is you don't have to dip in it then and the tacos themselves do not have spice. They are pretty filing, it doesn't look like it, but after 2 of the tacos I was stuffed. Lucky for me I have leftovers for today! I'm pretty new to fusion (and a first for Halal for me) foods, but even I can tell they hit the nail on the head mixing and matching flavors and seasonings to keep you guessing on what it reminds you of. We'll definitely be back soon to check out more options on the menu.

Brittany G.

Yelp
The food is so amazing, I ate it 3x in like 4 days. Only 2 small complaints: the combo over rice comes with a pita and the chicken over rice does not...anddd that they aren't open 24/7, bc the food is thattt friggin good!!

Melissa M.

Yelp
Ordered through DoorDash for the first time and got the combo of beef and chicken over rice and it was awesome! I wish I took a picture, but it was so good I want to go back today for dinner.

Mike R.

Yelp
Very disappointed I just found out this gem is around the corner from my house. I've driven by this food truck a hundred times.. Only tried the chicken/beef combo over rice but I must say it didn't let me down, good flavor and healthy portions. Customer service was great, I wasn't familiar with the menu and they were very patient with me. I will be back to try more dishes!

Mukthiar G.

Yelp
This is the only Halal Fusion food truck. They have an amazing fusion of Pakistani and Mexican making a Paxican menu. Birria Taco (beef tacos) Tandoori chicken tacos, Phili cheese steaks and their Quesadillas cannot be missed out. It is better to Order over phone and start driving to avoid the wait time. Overall great food with amazing flavors. The owner is a very nice guys always welcoming and takes feedback in a very positive manner. Don't miss the hot tea after a Yummy meal.

Kevin P.

Yelp
My favourite thing to eat in Ireland after a few beers was always a wrap. I've missed that terribly for the last seven years until now. These wraps remind me of my childhood m. They are moist and saucy and delicious. Thank you , chefs kiss

Craig P.

Yelp
We were in the Austin Round Rock area over Labor Day weekend and ate at so many great places, one that we didn't know about in advance and just lucked into was Urban Turban. We went relatively late on a Friday night and service was friendly, and the food was great. I had the tandoori tacos, my friends all had different items and everyone devoured their food. Very fun mix of dishes from different cultures. Great experience and part of a great Austin visit.

Ambreen D.

Yelp
I read about this place on a social media post months ago. Since then we've been to this food truck several times, each time trying something new. And we have never been disappointed. To be honest, obviously I LOVE some items more than others, but that's not to say the other items aren't good. It's just a preference/mood thing? Anyway, we went recently because a) I can't say no to their food, b) who would say no to South Asian/tex mex fusion? The relaxing environment, friendly and accommodating staff, and delicious food make every trip absolutely enjoyable and satisfying. Go check out their iced frappa-chai and birria quesadillas or chicken tikka tacos!

H M.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service, friendly owner. They've really got the best birria tacos in town. I'll be back for more and will continue to bring family and friends. This place is a gem, kudos urban turban!

Gaurav K.

Yelp
Found this great little food truck place on AW grimes in round rock. It's little ways but the best part is you have lots of parking once you get there. Very limited menu with super reasonable prices. Food presentation is really good too. We order pretty much 1 of everything. We ate some at the location itself and took a lot home. It's a great fusion mix of Mexican/Mediterranean and Pakistani food. They have lots of ppl working in this food truck which makes the service fast. Would come back when in the area again taking one star off only since they don't have any options for vegetarians. Pro tip... add paneer with the same flavors

Ashley S.

Yelp
Enjoyable food! I like the flavor a lot. It's a nice way to get some Indian when I'm not wanting the traditional style.

Josh K.

Yelp
Found this place randomly on Google and wow was it good. The Birria's Cousin was super tender meat and rich flavors that are very different than regular birria but good nonetheless. The Chicken Tikka Quesadilla was the best part. All I can say is wow! The flavors were bursting out. I'm coming back for sure!

Leah B.

Yelp
I've been seeing this spot pop up in my feed for quite some time and we finally made it out. They did not disappoint! We had the Tandoori Chicken Tacos and Shawarma-Rito. Failed to grab a photo of the Rito as I was too busy consuming. Owner operator is so kind! Plus the food? Legit amazing. The Rito (beef) was my favorite. The tortilla on both orders were grilled and charred perfectly. The meats, seasoned and cooked just right and still tender. The green sauce and the red sauce, excellent compliments. Great fusion food - go try this place FAST!

James A.

Yelp
Been here three times -- great food and friendly owner. cheese streak - both options are delicious. I wish it was a little bigger because I usually want a little more Tacos -- all are great, the shell is nice texture and sauces are bomb. Quesadillas -- also great! Burrito -- solid, not my favorite on the menu but definitely tasty. Platters -- all are great as well. I recommend getting without the salad.

Carlos D.

Yelp
Food is great. It is a combination of Mexican and Indian that gives a unique flavor. It is a food truck so be patient

Nakita G.

Yelp
I hate to write this review because the person who took the order over the phone was so nice and the food was cooked quickly; however, I have to be honest--the food was horrible. So horrible that I threw it away. We ordered the Turban Cheesesteak and the Birria Quesadilla. I had the quesadilla and my husband had the cheesesteak. As I'm eating the food, I'm thinking this tastes odd. I continued to finish the one piece of the quesadilla and then I realized I couldn't eat it anymore because it was so bad so I threw it away. I was soooooo hungry that night, but I just couldn't do it. I didn't call to ask for a refund or complain, but I said I would never eat there again. My husband loves cheesesteaks and he only ate half of it and he's normally my garbage disposal. He's easy to please and normally doesn't complain, but he only ate half of it and threw the other half away.

Sahil A.

Yelp
Nice manager who treated us very well and we loved the indo-pak taco mix. Recommend the birria cousin

Danish N.

Yelp
Was hungry so I went to yelp to see what was nearby and that's how I landed at this gem of a place. Never had an Indian Mexican fusion place but I'm here for it! This is my second time coming here and I loved the Chicken Tikka Quesadilla and ordered the Tandoori Chicken Tacos which were amazing as well. Happy I found this place as the food is delicious and the staff is friendly! Support the small local businesses! Can't wait to return to try more of the menu items!!

Elena T.

Yelp
I had the tandoori chicken tacos and they were amazing! I cannot have dairy, and they were kind enough to make them for me without cheese. Looking forward to going again!

Jiz P.

Yelp
This place is amazing! My husband and I are from Houston so we miss having places like Halal Guys near us. This place definitely hits the spot! I love having sit down restaurants like Rock and Grill near us but it's also great to have a food truck like this around to eat some flavorful food at home! We got the Mango Lassi and Thirsty Turban for drinks. The lassi was perfect! The thirsty turban is a flavored soda beverage so It's not my thing but I'm glad I tried it. For food we got the chicken tikka quesadillas, Birria's cousin, and shawarma-rito. Everything was very flavorful and reminded me of home-cooked Indian food with a Mexican twist! It's definitely worth trying for your next meal :)

La M.

Yelp
had the birria quesadilla and tandoori chicken tacos. both were delicious and loved the sauces that came with them. will be back!

Kim R.

Yelp
If you are trying to find this place in the evening it's east to miss, however it's definitely worth the extra effort to find it! It's soo delicious!! We ordered the Chicken Tikka over rice, the chief burrito and the birrias cousin tacos. ALL OF IT was delicious & such a perfect balance of Mexican and Indian flavors. The salsas that come with the burrito were outstanding & the cherry on top! We will definitely be returning & excited to bring friends with us!

Siam K.

Yelp
Love this place! Food is incredible and full of flavor! The owner is one of the nicest people we've met, he puts a lot of love and effort into the food (which you can tell from the first bite). We tried the chicken and birria tacos/quesadillas and were blown away. We came all the way from Los Angeles and wishbone had this place back at home, we ended up coming here multiple times during our short stay in Austin...five stars for sure!

Urvashi G.

Yelp
Love love loved this place. Its a very good fusion food of Indian, Mexican, Mediterranean, and American. They got chicken tikka quesadillas to turban cheesesteak to shawarma! The flavors are impactful and just *chefs kiss*. I got tandoori chicken tacos, chicken shawarma and mango lassi. The quantity of food is very good. The main ingredients are so rich that it becomes filling very fast. I recommend to get less and add more later. All in all, highly recommend. I visited this food truck during late evening. Finding it can be a little tricky. I wish they had more lighting since it got pretty dark, and had proper path to let people know on where to turn as approaching closer to the location. The owner was very nice and friendly. Good customer service experience. Had space for parking and eating outside. The only reason I took one star away was the absurd price for the Mango lassi - $6. I didn't taste a difference in quality or quantity here when compared to $3 mango lassi from anywhere else. I don't think I will purchase this again. However, for food, will definitely be coming back!

Rylan K.

Yelp
Was looking for something new to try outside of Chipotle and stumbled on this place. I got the chicken masala over rice and it was incredible. Great sauces as well. Next time I go back I'll be trying the quesadilla for sure.

Tiffany G.

Yelp
The Birria Quesadilla is AMAZING!!! They are super friendly and the food is delicious!!!

Sara S.

Yelp
We heard about this place through a Facebook recommendation and decided to come check it out. We got to the food truck right as they were closing but they graciously took our order. As soon as we grabbed the and sat to eat, the first thing my husband said after his first bite was "Oh we are definitely going to be here." The food was so flavorful. I order the chicken tikka quesadilla with the iced chai and my husband got the mixed meat plate with a mango lassi. The drinks were so delicious and refreshing. Both the dishes were good. After taking a bite of my husband's food, I'd go back for the mixed meat plate. On top of the appetizing food and great service, the presentation was also a plus.

Baneen N.

Yelp
We were SO excited to try halal, desi-Mexican fusion in Austin! The Urban Turban did not disappoint. We got the shawarma-rito with chicken tikka and the birria quesadilla. Both were flavorful, and the quesadilla was packed with cheese, just the way it should be. I was hoping for authentic consome, but it seemed like the consome was fusion as well: it tasted a lot like a desi stew. Not sure if or how they'd be able to accommodate lesser spice levels. The two things we got were tolerable but definitely spicy.

Michael B.

Yelp
Ordered food for several people on Ubereats 2 hours in advance. I checked the app in the window that it was supposed to arrive and they apparently cancelled the order. Great place to order dinner if you want to go hungry.

Dilim N.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I got the Turban Cheesesteak. The meat was tender and crispy. The white and red sauce was a great remix to the classic Philly. The white sauce was full of flavor and the red sauce wasn't too spicy. The mango lasse was super tasty. My wife got the chicken tikka quesadilla and loved it as well. Halal Bros better watch their back!

Mandy W.

Yelp
Phenomenal! My husband and I split 4 tikka masala tacos plus the birria quesadilla and it was plenty for dinner! The tacos were well flavored and crisp & the birria was loaded with cheesey goodness. Adding this spot to our regular rotation.

Neil C.

Yelp
My wife and I came here and ordered the chicken tikka quesadilla and the tikka over rice. It was great tasting, good quality, and decently priced. The tikka over rice way a better value on price/quantity but if you aren't that hungry the quesadillas are good too. We'll be back because next we need to try their birria tacos.

Andy G.

Yelp
I love traditional foods and appreciate the journey foods from other regions take me. Urban Turban is a blend of traditional and local (mexican is local here). The birria tacos payed homage to both ethnic varieties leaving me craving more. The tikka on rice was also incredible. My advice, don't just stick with what you know is your flavor palate, venture off into one their unique menu items. You won't be disappointed!

Alex B.

Yelp
We had the Birria tacos and quesadilla, it was excellent. The meat was flavorful and the tortillas were soft and tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Overall very good meal and we will be coming back.
