Beachfront spot with Swiss & American eats, beer, wine & happy hour

"The Venice Boardwalk isn’t where we’d typically send people who are experiencing Megan Thee Stallion-level hotness, (or anyone, really), but The Waterfront is an exception. The sprawling neighborhood bar/cafe has been around since the mid-90s, but recently underwent a big, fancy renovation that includes a brand-new patio, an updated food menu, and plenty of decorative surfboards. They serve all kinds of distinctly California snacks that use both farm-fresh produce and incredibly fresh seafood, like chips and guacamole made with heirloom tomatoes, and burritos packed with Oaxacan cheese. All of which can be enjoyed on their waterfront patio, filled with colorful murals and comfy cabana chairs." - kat hong
"Located on the far end of the Venice Beach Boardwalk, the Waterfront offers an easy, beachy menu that includes egg plates, breakfast burritos, and fruit-topped French toast during weekend brunch and cheeseburgers, fish and chips, and loaded tots or nachos for lunch and dinner. Parents can enjoy the weekend bottomless brunch deals, which run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays; there’s also the occasional live performance by children’s band Sunnyside (check their Instagram schedule). After you finish eating and grooving, you can work off more of the kids’ energy at the playground just across the boardwalk parking lot in Venice Park." - Nicole Adlman

"The Waterfront excels in two areas: margaritas (specifically a tart calamansi version) and outdoor seating. This beach bar sits about 200 feet from the coastline and there's plenty of space for big groups, so keep it in mind the next time you want to watch the sunset with friends from the comfort of a cabana chair. The post-work crowd typically has more tech bros than a hip-hop yoga class, but this is Venice—they come with the territory. Buy One, Get One Free Cocktails" - garrett snyder, brant cox, cathy park
"An all-day beach party where a DJ spins a millennial-coded playlist and diners bop along — arrive early for calmer vibes and let chef Wes Whitsell’s Tex-Mex fare take the spotlight. The skillet cornbread, made with Anson Mills cornmeal, studded with Fresno chiles, and dolloped with honey butter, is described as “an absolute must to start and quite possibly the best thing to eat on all of the boardwalk.” For something sweet, the French toast with berries is a well-prepared classic; savory seekers should get at least one taco served on handmade tortillas (the brisket is superb) and the blackened hamachi collar. Everything pairs well with a slate of fun cocktails that can even be served by the pitcher if the mood calls for it." - Eater Staff
"The sprawling beachfront compound has plenty of patio space for dining and drinking - go ahead and order their Frozé, with watermelon, coconut water, lime, lavender, and Lillet - plus several large-size picnic meals that can be ordered in-house or taken to-go. Stop in, or make a reservation online." - brett keating, james montgomery
