"White Bull Tavern has officially opened at 1 Union St., serving pizzas, skillet-cooked appetizers, and more. The restaurant has a raw bar with eight seats, serving a selection of oysters that changes daily. Appetizers include lollipop lamb chops, meatballs, roasted Brussels sprouts, and pan-seared scallops. The main menu features several pizzas, including a particularly meaty one topped with pepperoni, prosciutto, and salami. There are customizations available, along with sandwiches and salads. Entrees rotate weekly. To drink, there are 24 beers on draft and cocktails served in non-traditional vessels, like antique tea cups and champagne buckets. The restaurant spans nearly 8,000 square feet of space across two floors, seating 180 people. Design elements are courtesy of At Absolute Zero Design. White Bull Tavern operates daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. In the coming months, the restaurant will debut late-night and weekend brunch menus." - Dana Hatic

It's a cool tavern in downtown Boston, great location near several attractions, shops and restaurants. Accessible by public transportation or by car, there's a parking garage nearby. Old Bostonian chic interiors, plus disco lights downstairs and red lights upstairs, also mirrors on the ceiling. We visited on a Friday evening in winter, for a comedy show, it was fun. There were about 60 people, sufficiently big crowd for laughs but still feels intimate. The atmosphere was pleasant and upbeat, the staff was friendly, service was good. We had pizza, salad and beer, all were pretty good. I can't give it 5 stars because the price was a bit too high ($110 for a couple, including the comedy and the simple food, not including parking) for just two hours. Good experience overall !

Google
The restaurant offers a fantastic atmosphere with great music that adds to the unique vibe of the place. The beer is excellent, and the food is delicious and satisfying. Definitely a spot worth visiting for an enjoyable evening with friends.

We've gone here a couple times for comedy shows in the upstairs room. The food we had has been very good. Most recently that was a steak tips sandwich and the chicken and bacon sandwich. The steaks tips were tender and delicious with a good sauce. The venue for the comedy shows in the upstairs room is a good vibe. It's not huge, but I personally like that because it makes for a better experience with the comics.

Initially we were going to Samuel Adams Tap Room but they were out of Lobster. So we went to the White Bull. Nice quiet bar with seating opening outside on this nice Fall day. Shared the Maine Lobster Roll (served warm with butter). It was good but our Lobster Roll in Portland was much tastier. Still nice and quiet lunch.

Google
The food is fantastic, don't bother walking around for a place to eat. Hands down best in the area.

Google
Went there late with a bunch of friends and waited in line to go upstairs, which is not surprising. While waiting I decided to get a pizza and it was the best pizza. The pizza guy was so courteous and nice. Would order another one again.

Google
My favorite place in Boston for karaoke. Michael Foley is there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday and he's one of the best karaoke DJs I've ever seen...and I've sang all over the world. The crowd is enthusiastic and fun, the beer selection is on point and the servers are fantastic. If I lived in Boston I'd be there every week.

Google
The place is good, but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The person at the entrance was extremely rude to us. Since we didn’t have our ID at that moment, we ordered an Uber to go to the hotel and get it, but while we were waiting, he rudely suggested we go to the bar on the corner, even though it was very cold outside. When we came back with the ID, he treated us poorly again.

Yelp
Went to the White Bull Tavern while on a work assignment in Boston. This place is the awesome. Paul is a phenomenal host and is Boston's #1 salesman. He did a phenomenal job of presenting the menu and the best options for food. And the food did not disappoint. Had the Kielbasa and the steak tips . . . Incredible. If you're in the area White Bull Tavern is the spot to go. You will not regret it!

Neida P.

Yelp
The service here was great, all the servers were so friendly and welcoming. The ambience was fun they had music playing and everyone was talking and laughing plus the food was pretty good. My friends ordered the chicken sandwiches which they didn't like too much but the maine lobster roll was delicious!

Beth Ann P.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for a quick cocktail. Our bartender Paul provided awesome service and a plethora of information about Boston. Our drinks were good, we loved open windows with the fresh air flowing throughout the bar.

Adina S.

Yelp
I came to White Bill for a comedy show on a Friday night. For a Faneuil Hall bar, this place is pretty nice. Really impressed with how they transformed the upstairs area and maximized seating. I had a drink at the bar and found the bartenders to be pretty attentive. As soon as the show was over, the staff transformed the area back into a regular bar, before the crowds came in. I've also been to White Bull on a regular Friday/Saturday night and it's your classic college/post-college vibe. Can't speak to the food, as I haven't tried anything off the menu.

Enrique R.

Yelp
watched 2 mice run across restaurant floor told bartender she did not care. Pizza was good until then. Beer was cold

Dan C.

Yelp
BEST karaoke bar in Boston. The sound is amazing, fhe KJ has SO MANY songs. The vibe is amazing, bartenders are great! The pizza is the beat bar pizza in Boston. And the wings fall off the bone!

Kiran V.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday night with some friends. There was a $10 cover per person but a Santander ATM right around the corner which was convenient. The line moved quicker than expected for a Saturday night to get in but the lower level was sparsely populated. There was a crowd to get to the upstairs bar which we eventually made it up to after about 20 minutes. The upstairs DJ was okay and kept transitioning at random times that seemed offbeat? There was also some person who kept ad libbing into the mic which was INCREDIBLY DISRUPTIVE to the vibes. There were a lot of younger kids, college aged. Drinks were overpriced but expected.

Shirin B.

Yelp
Came to this pub as a part of the Boston Crawling pub crawl and Paul, the nicest bartender suggested I try one of his Watermelon Margaritas with freshly made watermelon juice. He 1000% sold me on this and I had to try it. Best drink ever, whenever I come to Boston I'll stop by the White Bull for not just a couple of beers and food, but also the watermelon margarita.

Michael F.

Yelp
As this is this my first trip to Boston I had to try a Lobster Roll. We found this restaurant, as it was right at the end of our tour. We asked our waitress Olivia, a few questions and we took her advice. We ordered a Harpoon UFO beer and a warm lobster roll. The roll was warm and soft brimming with sweet pieces of Lobster with a delicate layer of sweet butter. It was delicious and sweet. I would order this again, if I was to visit Boston again and would request our server Olivia who was a perfect server. Thank you for the fine food and excellent service.

Kinsley M.

Yelp
Has a good outdoor setting; close to Quincy market. Service was good. Food was ok. A little pricey but that is Boston for you! But apparently to my mom the drinks a really good!

Jeff S.

Yelp
Lunch in Faneuil Hall. A bit of a touristy spot with pretty ish food. Had the Italian wrap. "Ish" nothing special. Typical array of beers and cocktails available. Nothing to write home about. Service was fine.

Janelle L.

Yelp
Excellent beer locally brewed of course. The fall seasonal was sooooo tasty. The food was delicious and the service very friendly! Loved the old feel of the building with modern touches that still feel vintage.

Derek T.

Yelp
So, I got to visit Boston again this week. I had such an incredible experience the last time we were here we came again! It's gotten better! The owner Jeff was there and greeting the customers at the door. The staff was fun and attentive. The menu has changed and it appears for the better. I did a meatball and pepperoni pizza which was perfect, and my friend did the chicken caesar pocket which he loved. This place never lets you down. Two thumbs up.

Stephon M.

Yelp
Came for the Eagles game on Sunday! Live dj Delicious wings Delicious pizza with a good amount of garlic They could use more wing flavors. The Sunday vibe was great and the bartenders were pretty chill. I will definitely come back here. I ended up really loving their pizza as it came from that dole pizza oven and it had great flavor.

Brendan G.

Yelp
The food and ambiance was outstanding, but the service was slow. When we were finally recognized by our server, she was very friendly and apologetic for the delay, but we waited over 15 minutes before even being acknowledged. For full transparency, it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Still, they could use at least one additional server for busy times. Otherwise, great experience.

Rich H.

Yelp
Been to the Bull a few times. It's got a great vibe. Friendly staff. Food was above your average bar food level. I had warm Lobster Roll and meatballs. Both were very good. Paul is Da Bomb behind the bar. Friendly, funny, informative and all that wrapped up is a sexy sexy beast of a body. Go see Paul and have drinks and food at the Bull you won't be disappointed.

Beth K.

Yelp
We had just flown in to Boston and stumbled upon this amazing gem!! Such an awesome time!! Paul was an amazing bartender!!! The crab rolls and the bacon wrapped kielbasa were outstanding!!

Ashley H.

Yelp
I ordered the gf cauliflower crust pizza it was amazing. Tasted great! I asked about it being celiac friendly / gf allergy friendly and they explained they cook it on a separate side of the over. I watched. They did. I was able to eat pizza for the first time in along time! It is a super cute place wallpaper and old newspaper on the ceiling near the bar. I recommend this stop for sure! Customer service was great too. If you're in Boston this is a must stop!

Kelly S.

Yelp
Ok , This is an amazing place. You have to meet the bartender named Paul and experience his mojito with watermelon and coconut. I am not a big mixed drinker, but his concoction is absolutely out of the universe. His expertise and professionalism and absolutely Homestyle friendship is unbelievable. You have to make a stop at this place come to the bar, sit at the bar, and ask for Paul. He is amazing

Yelp
(Last visited 3/22/2021.) Working in Boston for the week and I'm out exploring the downtown area. On a previous visit with some friends we saw this place, but had already eaten. I took note of their sign regarding the best wings in Boston and made sure to revisit them... Today was that day! Here's how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right off of the busy street of Union is this gem. Since it's downtown there is no private parking lot so good luck finding some street parking or a structure nearby. The interior is... weird. Its definitely different and I don't want to use the phrase "thrown together", but that's kinda what it feels, but... art usually can't be explained, except for by the artist... right? Anyway, there are different sections of the restaurant and it's pretty easy to navigate. I had come on a Monday evening and it was pretty quiet. Service: Stephanie took excellent care of me. She was sweet, hung out with me as we discussed my YouTube channel and some other restaurants in the area that I should check out. I appreciated her. Food: I'm here for the wings so check this out. They're described as "crispy, fall off the bone, duck confit chicken wings dusted with our house spice rub then served with roasted garlic yogurt sauce". They were very good. You only get 6 or 7 per order so I got 2 orders. The description was absolutely correct, but can be confusing. So I asked Stephanie about the and she explained that the wings are marinated in duck fat, fried in duck fat, but then baked in a stove. Nice. Value: In March an order of wings was $14.99, but they've only gone up a dollar since then. That's a bit expensive for wings, but the quality and amount of work it takes to make these is worth it. In conclusion this is a pretty cool spot to hang out at. I'll certainly give it another go in the future and gravitate away from the wings next time. Yelp
GET THE LOBSTER ROLL!! It was delicious, and filled with a lot of lobster meat. We went in here on New Years before they had there New Years Party and I really liked the bar. Staff was super nice and provided great service. Great place to watch a game and grab some drinks. I will definitely be back!

Jim F.

Yelp
Good ambiance. Quiet while we were there. Staff are friendly and attentive. Buffalo dip appetizer was very good. I had a burger and I would rate it as average. My guests had a lobster roll and Italian pita which they said were both very good. Overall our experience was above average...but I wish that burger had been a bit better.

Yelp
Stopped in on a hot September day and was greeted by Paul at the bar. First Paul's service was exceptional and we had the absolute pleasure of him serving us. Paul recommended one of his drinks to cool off and thank goodness he did because it was incredible. The style of the restaurant/bar is very laid back and relaxing but all of the workers are moving non stop making sure everything is running smoothly. Overall great experience, and highly recommended, if you see Paul definitely ask him for one of his drinks because you will NOT be disappointed. The watermelon coconut mojito (one of Paul's specialty drinks) is delicious!

Kelly S.

Yelp
This was one of the few places on a busy Saturday night that we were able to get seated without a wait! Located close to Faneuil Hall Marketplace, this is also just steps away from Boston's North End. We tried a variety of things - a watermelon mojito, Brussels Sprouts and a Maine Hot Lobster Roll. The mojito was sweet and the waitress said they freshly make their watermelon puree seasonally and in house. I think if I hadn't had food to go along with it, I would have definitely felt it! The Brussels Sprouts were crispy and topped with a generous portion of thick cut bacon - my only complaint about them was they were a little on the bitter side. We shared a hot Maine Lobster Roll as well. Seafood is not my favorite and I found the texture a little weird with the lobster, but the taste was good. My husband seemed to enjoy it and said it was one of the best things he had eaten in Boston.

Taylor H.

Yelp
White Bull is the official Eagles Bar of Boston! It is such a blast to come here every Eagles game. The staff is always super pleasant and the food is fantastic. We really like the white bull lobster roll and the pulled pork pizza! Also, they have some cocktails that always crush it like the Boujee-tini!

Nick G.

Yelp
If you want the best fall of the bone wings, go here! Some of the best wings I've ever had. Also the Crispy Jalapeño bacon wrapped Kielbasa. It was so good I didn't get a chance to take a pic. Paul was awesome and super hospitable. His recommendations were spot on. I will definitely be making this a must stop spot every time I'm in Boston.

Eric D.

Yelp
Food and service was excellent! The wings are cooked in duck fat and falls off the bone. This place is a must try and I will be going back every time I'm in Boston.

Monica L.

Yelp
As promised, I came back to the White Bull Tavern for my second Hide Out comedy show. This time I brought my roommates and more friends. We had such an INCREDIBLE time. For the first time in a while we felt comfortable being unmasked in a closed space and it felt like a celebration to do it at the tavern. We ordered so much good food and drinks. I was glad they gave healthy options. In case you are worried about the carbs I had the lettuce chicken wrap with a rum cocktail. The food portions are more than enough to share and the chicken was well seasoned. The comedians were hysterical and did not disappoint. Unfortunately, I do not remember the names of the comedians, but some of them have been in Comedy Central, Boston Comedy contests, and worked with comedians in SNL. I highly recommend this establishment for good food, drinks, show, staff and being around people once again!

Jesse A.

Yelp
I give this establishment the 5 star due to the extraordinary staff, Mariano, Davey and Matty. They are excellent bartenders. I t wanted to have a pizza but unfortunately they only serve one size which was too much for me as I always go out alone. Instead I tried the meatballs pomoradora which they give you three decent size meatballs. They are good considering they use the traditional Italian meat of Hamburg, Pork and Veal. The gravy was more like marinara, it needs to have zest! I hope the establishment recognizes this to bring this appetizer up to par considering the proximity of the North End

Rick T.

Yelp
Paul at the bar. Go see this guy! He has what ails ya. But the watermelon margaritas are absolutely best I've ever had. And I'm from Texas! Had to come to Boston for the best margarita?!! Hell yes.

Fran P.

Yelp
White Bull Tavern is a great spot to visit and centrally located. I had a delicious custom cocktail made by Paul. Our waitress Lauren was super hard working and friendly. The lobster rolls were devine! We will definitely return.

Brett K.

Yelp
Paul is the best!! Absolutely the best service. Paul is an absolute character and the food was good. The drinks were good. I am coming back next time I come to Boston.

Larry P.

Yelp
$8 for a side of potato chips. Seriously????? The rest was .... Airplane food. Actually, I've had better meals in first class. And the prices will make you feel gauged.

Satiated Ape ..

Yelp
This bar is a great place to stop for a beer and food. The Cubano was outstanding! Good vibe too.

Valeri S.

Yelp
I was not that impressed with this place or the staff. It was raining so we were looking for somewhere to hang out and let the weather pass by. The staff was not friendly, the sandwich was horrible and they never asked if something was wrong with it, instead just took the place and tossed it. WTH! We ordered shots chilled and they came out hot. I try and give grace and mercy to restaurants because they sometimes do get rude people but when you're in the industry to make money off tips and being friendly here's a concept try being friendly and smile every once in a while.

Karly C.

Yelp
First and foremost shout out to the gentleman behind the bar today for his awesome, welcoming energy! We ordered kielbasa and chowder with a couple drinks and he said we ordered the best thing on the menu (kielbasa) and poured some great whiskey drinks. After enjoying one of our favorite chowders and eating the kielbasa for the first time, we let him know he was spot on - food was great. I promised him I'd reiterate the experience by sharing that the service and food today was "wicked pissah," aka great! We've been here before and while not all the food is "best ever 5 starts," I will say we do love the chowder and now the kielbasa has been added to the list of go-tos!

John R.

Yelp
Great lobster roll and relaxed atmosphere. Service was good, even though it was fairly late on a Monday. The brussel sprouts were very tasty and I enjoyed the chowder as well.

Jackie B.

Yelp
I had a great experience here! The watermelon margarita and mojito were to die for. The bartenders were extremely welcoming, especially Paul. It was a great atmosphere and I would recommend to any tourists.

Rachel L.

Yelp
Everything here was amazing ! We are on vacation from Cali and the service and food were incredible ! I had the Cubano and it was divine ! My brother got the lobster Mac and cheese and lettuce chicken wraps and they were very good as well. Service was incredible also!

Mya M.

Yelp
Paul makes the best dirty Shirley's in Boston. The lobster roll is also amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

Ralph E.

Yelp
Shayne was a great bartender, this place has the best pizza and a great night life!!!

Malia C.

Yelp
If you'd like to be verbally abused at the door, this is the place! I stepped outside to help a friend get into an Uber, then come back inside, which the bouncer witnessed. He then refused to let my other friend and me back in, and when I calmly explained that I had just been inside and showed him my stamp, he told me that I was "white trash," "not worth it," "batshit crazy," and "had a poor upbringing." I've never left a Yelp review, but I could not believe that someone would treat another human being this way , or feel it appropriate to use this language with any woman, especially one 20 years his junior.

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
The environment: quirky floral wallpaper and modern fixtures create a fun and inviting atmosphere. Lovely outdoor seating, as well as big windows inside with a decent sized bar seating and dining tables available. Service: poor. We were hardly greeted, water glasses were empty for most of the experience, we felt like an inconvenience even though the servers only had a bout 2 tables per server at the time (1:30). Food: Very good! lobster tasted fresh, fun skillet apps and great flavor. Decent plating makes for a delicious and casual lunch spot. Overall, great food with poor service equates to a decent and vibrant lunch destination.

Tuli S.

Yelp
No wait on a Saturday night! We had a few other restaurants on our list but they were completely booked or had a wait. We had drinks and dinner at the bar because our table was so wobbly that we had to move. The pumpkin pie martini was good but they ran out of the pumpkin purée so it was a little sweeter than expected with the substitute. We had the caesar salad (13.99) and the getting figgy widit pizza (15.99). It was nice that we could sub in cauliflower crust for the pizza (my friend is gluten free) but aside from that it was kinda overpriced. The salad didn't have enough dressing but aside from that it was fine. We added prosciutto to the pizza and they literally gave us sliced ham. Whatever it was... it was not prosciutto because I eat it all the time. So don't add that! The pizza itself was good but tiny! Service was good and this is a fun spot to go out at night. I'd rather drink here than eat here!

Livia S.

Yelp
New England is well known for its lobster rolls and clam chowder. My husband was lucky enough to have tasted seafood from the northeast so many years ago and when I asked him what makes New England's lobster and clam chowder different, he told me that it's just hard to describe... It's just delicious and I'll have to try it for myself. So our trip to Massachusetts was the perfect opportune time to try these popular dishes. It was past 1pm on a Saturday and we just wanted fuel up so we can walk around downtown Boston some more. We passed a chalkboard sign that says "Free cup of chowdah with a food purchase" - DISCLAIMER: Not sure if this is a Special of day or Daily Offer. Anyways, we got hooked and decided to eat here. There was no wait time when we got there so that was a plus for three hungry adults. Servers were friendly and attentive. I like the restaurant's interior which is some sort of a mash up between modern, classic and rustic. There were flat-screen TVs surrounding the area and all of them were tuned in to some kind of sports. The restaurant and even the restroom (I can only speak for the female restroom) was clean. What I thought was cool was the sign about their "White Bull Buddy System" where you can ask any of the staff for help if you feel unsafe. I think that's taking customer service to the next level. Their menu is not overwhelming, which makes choosing your items faster. There's options for pizza, light entrees, paninis, shared plates and house special steak tips. Prices are double dollars, with the exception of the clam chowder and beer. Lobster items are market price. Of course we already know what to order even before we sat down. My husband and I shared a New England Lobster Roll and Lobster Mac N Cheese. Of course we all had a cup of New England Clam Chowdah. We were first served our chowder cups. I had a spoonful... and the first three letters that came out of my mouth were O. M. And G. - it's rich and creamy but it's not nauseating. I found comfort in every slurp. Our main entrées came in shortly. One thing you have to know about me is that I'm not a big fan of lobster - I mean, I would eat it but I always think that it's either the butter or the mayo that gives flavor to it. Anyway, back to this lobster - it was served with house made potato chips. One thing I noticed is that you can visually see big chunks of lobster and just lightly dressed with mayo. My first bite changed my whole perception of lobster - the lobster meat is fresh and has a hint of sweetness to it. The lemon mayo dressing doesn't overpower the lobster itself. The Lobster Mac N Cheese was yummy too. It was topped with big chunks of lobster and Cheez Its and I was quite surprised that it married well with the whole dish (I probably will start to put Cheez Its on any Mac N Cheese moving forward. Lol!). If there is anything we regret was we should've ordered our own Lobster Rolls! My brother in law got the Buffalo Soldier Pizza. Though I didn't get to try it, he had high praise for his meal too. I have to say that this place made my first experience of New England Lobster Roll and Clam Chowder totally memorable. I keep on reminiscing my first taste of the delicious food like it's my first date!

Xenia M.

Yelp
I definitely recommend checking out the White Bull Tavern on a Thursday night for their comedy show! It's perfect for date night and tix are only 10 bucks! It's located in the heart of downtown Boston, so there are tons of places to bar hop!

Annie S.

Yelp
If you want to be manhandled at the door I highly recommend. Most unnecessary and inappropriate escalation of a situation I've ever seen. Also maybe try and hire employees that don't yell "go white a yelp review" after what everyone witnessed. I volunteer as tribute, friend

Robin W.

Yelp
The quality of the food was okay, but the seasoning was bland/non-existent. They were out of the first two items we asked for from the menu. They were also out of the first two beer selections my husband ordered. We ended up ordering steak tips (house specialty) from the menu and asked for steak sauce of some kind to spice it and they only had BBQ sauce or buffalo sauce, which wasn't even buffalo sauce. Also, we ordered Buffalo Chicken wings with buffalo sauce, but got something different. Bottom-line, go somewhere else. There has to be something much better in Boston.

Kelsey H.

Yelp
Best. Salads. I don't know why their Caesar salad and arugula salad were so good, but they just were! The chicken my friend added to her Caesar salad was so good and the serving of chicken huge! I added shrimp to the arugula salad and it was so amazing - seasoned really well too. Simple but great! Awesome menu with decent prices for the area, great selection of drinks and they were able to custom make a cocktail for my friend. Will be coming back!
