The 5 Best Hotels in the Cotswolds, According to Vogue | Vogue

"In 2013, Carole Bamford opened this Kingham outpost, the first Daylesford pub with rooms and the blueprint for that now-unmistakable Daylesford aesthetic: rustic natural materials layered with texture—wide oak floors, bare stone walls, exposed beams, pitched ceilings with tongue-and-groove paneling—plus buttery textiles and a deliberately narrow palette of creams, grays, and browns. The effect is grounding and restful, which, combined with its honeypot village setting, means you’ll need to plan ahead for a reservation. Downstairs, an open-kitchen destination restaurant serves food that’s more refined than you might expect (organic côte de boeuf for two; sweetbreads with an optional truffle supplement), while the come-as-you-are front pub offers seats by the log fire or on the terrace in good weather. Amenities are a restaurant and bar, and it doubles as a community hub with local bands every Tuesday and supper clubs themed around foraging and seasonal game." - Jo Rodgers

"Just down the road from the Daylesford Farm Shop is the Bamford family’s stylishly modernised country pub. It's constantly packed with contented diners and it's no wonder why as this is an utterly charming place, looking every inch the quintessential Cotswolds inn. The accomplished cooking offers plenty of appeal, with the natural flavours of the farm’s superb organic ingredients underpinning the menu. The luxurious bedrooms are delightfully understated, if you want to continue your Cotswolds adventure." - Michelin Inspector

Wild Rabbit | Best places to stay in Kingham

"Located in a mid-18th century building in an idyllic Cotswold village, the Wild Rabbit is the sister property to Daylesford Organic – the Cotswolds’ world-famous eco-farm shop, spa and restaurant. The rooms, bar and restaurant are filled with a similar organic elegance – four-poster beds fashioned from birch trunks, stripped-back stone walls and rustic furniture smothered in flowers and artfully-arranged bushels of leaves. The food – predictably – is a high point, with most of the dishes sourced from whatever is in season at Daylesford – but the whole shebang is a lesson in pure class. " - Annabelle Thorpe

We loved staying here for multiple reasons, including but not limited to: the helpful and friendly staff, best hotel breakfast ever, the way the hotel is decorated (common spaces and rooms-- so charming), being so central to other attractions, ease of parking and the overall lovely vibe. We stayed in Fox room and the bed was comfy and the bathroom well-appointed. We loved all the lovely-smelling products provided. Our room was directly over the front exterior bar, so we could hear the music/people. Also we were there during a heat wave and with no AC, the room was unbearably hot (even with the 2 fans provided). Though the restaurant was closed for supper the days we were there, the bar was lovely. This spot is very special and we really enjoyed our time in the Cotswolds because we stayed here.

Had a memorable dinner here with my wife and her sister. Ask if they can make you the 3 way chicken! They say you can judge a restaurant by the quality of its roasted chicken and this was one of the best I have ever had, especially the Madeira sauce. The service is attentive and friendly without being fussy. The ambience and decor are warm and beautiful. We look forward to coming back!

Spent the weekend in the Cotswold and got recommended the restaurant. We hadn’t booked but thankfully they had a cancellation and we were able to get a table for 2. We weren’t sure what the restaurant was like before arriving so went with no expectations. The staff were super friendly and helpful, we had a delicious Venison dish and wife and the Pork loin both meticulously plated and tasted divine. The mash potato was delicious but the triple cooked chips were more like double cooked croquettes which seemed odd. Delightful cocktails and extensive wine list, unfortunately my wife was too full to enjoy the sumptuous cheese selection.

Can't comment on the hotel, only the restaurant. Lovely space, very attentive staff. We had the tasting menu and the food was very good. Ultimately we had a lovely evening and I can recommend this place for sure. The only quibble I would say is that given the price point it's probably not quite where it wants or needs to be to fully justify it. There were one or two courses that were fine but not amazing (the jersey royal and the strawberry yoghurt), though others that were very good indeed (the tomato, the lamb and the pistachio dessert). The service was generally very good but a few small things let them down. One was that they rang us up beforehand to confirm our booking and asked about allergies, I explained my partner has a nut allergy. They also double checked this at the table, which was reassuring. However, when the second dessert course arrived for her it was pistachio-based. The whole thing was dealt with with minimal fuss and a replacement was brought out promptly so not a major deal but shouldn't really have happened given the checks they themselves had put in place if nothing else. In short, very good food, a few niggles mean that the value isn't quite there but if you want a nice evening out with good food in a nice location then you're unlikely to complain!

This review is solely for the restaurant as we did not stay on site. We had lunch here and it was great. First of all, I love the concept and design - I'm a rabbit lover and a sucker for a beautifully designed space. This was so stunning inside and out! The building is beautiful and I love the outdoor space with the adorable bar truck. We had an a la carte lunch and ordered a beef dish that was outstanding. The portion was small but it was cooked perfectly and the flavor was so good. This is definitely a pricey meal but we enjoyed it.

Husband, dog and I went for breakfast so we were seated in the bar area. Breakfast itself was very good and good value at £25 per head for everything. However, seated in the bar area we felt a little forgotten and service was slow as priority given to the dining room.

Just got back to 🇺🇸 after a short trip to UK. After carefully going through many places around the area, we decided to go with one of the best as reported online. It is located in a nice, accessible area of Cotswolds. The breakfast was really good as many have noted here. The staff at the dining were also very nice. My qualms are with the room itself and especially if you’re assigned the ‘Hare’ room. If you’re a light sleeper, there is some kind of pump that runs throughout the night and it would sound like a car is starting every minute. It was very annoying and honestly, not worth the money you shell out. Well, nothing terrible, but you get the idea.

Beautiful location and expectations were high but what a disappointment. Limited menu of very strange food at extortionate prices. No effort made to provide for allergies it came down to one item if you have a dairy allergy. I had halibut which was over cooked and about the size of my little finger and an extra of mashed potatoes which were actually puréed and swimming in grease, revolting. There was one other table of 2 people taking lunch but 8 people cooking and 3 waiting so more staff than punters Unbelievably poor in my opinion

Yelp
An incredible experience from start to finish! The staff were exceptional at making us feel welcome and went above and beyond in taking care of us. We both ordered the Tasting Menu and it was INCREDIBLE. Thank you so much! Would highly recommend!

Beautiful restaurant. Food was excellent with nice small selection of apps, entree and dessert. Additionally loved the cocktails. Was a nice surprise to have a mock tail menu as well as wife was pregnant

Yelp
This place is truly beautiful. Unfortunately I cannot comment on the food that is served in the interior (the outside has it's own menu), but we hadn't seen sun in about 6 months so we opted to sit outside and eat like peasants. Ha just kidding we weren't eating like peasants. Maybe more like the royalties extended family. Anyway, I think the most notable thing to say here is that out waitress was such a champ given the company. Yes, we might have friends that are a bit more, shall we say "needy" than the average peasant. Anyway, our wait staff was fabulous and the food was absolutely fabulous. Yes, the portions were not huge (as our friend pointed out and our waitress noted first), but they were still very yummy. Really you can't go wrong with any of them- the smoked salmon salad, asparagus salad and tomato salad were all really fresh and beautifully presented. And the fried fish and squid were also really yum. The outside seating is really pretty as well. It's cozy and fun and we had a really nice time.

Yelp
A wonderful restaurant, with excellent food and excellent service. My dish was the herb-crusted Daylesford Organic lamb saddle, with wet garlic, chervil glazed carrot, glazed shoulder and pecorino salad. My friend had the roast guinea fowl, creamed cabbage, grapes and Sauternes sauce. The setting was lovely. Highly recommended!

Yelp
This was our third year and fifth time. I ordered the rib eye steak. So did someone with us. His was fantastic. Mine was all grizzle and tendons. I tried five pieces. After 30 or so chews i had to spit them out. The tall guy in charge offered to bring me a replacement steak but emphatically stated that the restaurant could not guarantee that it would be any more eatable. Seriously! In the States we call that steak with attitude. Probability of a great meal is 90%. Are you willing to risk the 10%?

Yelp
Amazing wine, great recommendations from the staff. The food was quick but in a good way, the steak was good and cooked exactly to my liking! The decoration is lovely and homely, blazing fires really set the vibe. Staff are chatty and very friendly!

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast after a long flight. Service and food were excellent. There was a concern about the hotel being full and us walking in, but they seated us right away and the breakfast was amazing. A little out of the way, but worth it!!

Yelp
We came to the wild rabbit for two nights in February as a weekend getaway from London. This hotel has been such a pleasurable experience. All the staff have been kind and accommodating and we have no complaints about this place. We took the train in from London which is just over an hour and a half. En route we called the hotel for directions from the station and they just responded that someone will be waiting at the station to pick us up upon arrival. How nice! We checked in and went up to our room, the mouse room, which was a bit small but no complaints. Tea and homemade biscuits were waiting. Lots of other little amenities were also provided. Bathrobes, nespresso, fancy soaps, "rain" shower head just to name a few. The place is what one might call country chic. On to dinner at the restaurant. The dining room was vast and open with a large table in the middle for service (also where the breakfast buffet was the following morning). Service was a bit slow but the food was excellent. We were told they were going for a Michelin star. I ordered the mallard which was tender breast meat with Brussels sprouts, a thick slice of ham "Lardo", some potato, and cone shaped wontons stuffed with mallard confit. Melt in your mouth for sure. My wife ordered the lamb which was equally as impressive. Also the waitress served us goats curd and parmigiana amuse buches. For dessert we ordered cheesecake which was no ordinary cheesecake- it was Apple base, cheese cake filling custard, hardened honey and apple sorbet. My description does not do it justice. Also received some Madeleines to finish the meal. I wish the wine by the glass menu wasn't so limited and there were minimal inexpensive options. The reasonable wines were not as good as the £5 sainsbury red we had in our room. Breakfast in the morning, included in the room rate, was excellent as well. A spread of muesli, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast/croissants and fresh squeezed juices were available as well as any coffee drink you wanted. There was also a made to order menu included which I ordered the eggs Benedict on day one and the full English o day two. Both were well made with fresh meat and eggs. Lastly cheeses were available if you were still hungry. On day two they made us a second coffee drink to sit In front of the pub fire with. We set out to do some tromping and were given wellies to use by the hotel. What a relief as I only had trainers. There were also bikes to use. A few good short and longer walks originate in king ham (more during the summer when things aren't flooded) so it further negates the need for a car. For dinner on night two we were planning on trying another spot in town but we're just too cosy by the fire in the pub. After a pint for myself and a g&t for the wife, we decided to order off the menu. "Plaice goujons" (fancy fish fingers), lancashire hotpot (lamb and vegetables topped with potato) and chips accompanied a second g&t made with daylesford gin. The hotpot was filling although the fish fingers left a little to be desired for £12. In my opinion they could use a scotch egg and some simpler food like a burger or regular fish and chips on the menu. We spent the rest of the evening placing board games by the fire. The atmosphere in the whole place was cosy and warm with fireplaces all over. We even spent the last hour on Sunday afternoon playing another board game. The staff brought us out more Madeleine's to bid us farewell. All I can say is that everyone was so friendly and looked to make our weekend as enjoyable as possible. Would love to spend more days at the wild rabbit.

Yelp
Beautifully decorated pub and resto in charming town of Kingham. Impressed by fresh ingredients with a local emphasis. Outstanding service. Menu veers toward steak, lamb and pork belly fare. Also some very good fish choices like cod. Only gripe is on the pricy side but with such beautiful decor, quality food and friendly service it is worth it for a special treat.
