The Woodman

We found another treasure in Sherman Oaks. The Woodman was filled up on a Wednesday at 8pm. The place was filled with monitors with the Olympics on. This is a great place to see UFC fights. The energy is very welcoming and festive. We were greeted and served by Micaela (Mgt. she is an excellent crew member) who recommended the Pub Chips. The Pub Chips were one of the best appetizers that I have ever had. They are large, crispy and delicious! Look at my photos. They came with BBQ sauce and house sauce which went very well with the Pub Chips. We had a chicken Sandwich that was juicy and very crispy on the outside. It was large and it came with a large basket of fries. The Fish and chips came with an excellent tarter sauce and malt vinegar. They were soft on the inside and a golden textured crispy on the outside. Yes, I can highly recommend them. We will be back to have more Pub Chips and try out the Jalapeno Quesadilla.

Where rustic vibes meet craft cocktails and decent pub fare. The patio’s a highlight, but the inside gets loud enough to compete with your conversation. Service is friendly, but don’t expect speed. The fries pair well with everything.

A sports bar above all so as expected. Food was decent. Drinks were great. Could barely hear to talk inside. So loud.

I had a good time, I always tip between 30% and 50% when going to bars or restaurants but this place adds an automatic gratuity to a bill when they close it out. That's absolutely insane and shows a great amount of entitlement that people should have to tip. I was a bartender over a decade and I still manage a bar today. I always tip well voluntarily but the principle of an automatic gratuity will keep me from ever coming back and I would never install this policy in a bar I manage nor would I work for a bar that thinks that is acceptable.

I'll tell you what!!!! The Hamburger and fries was outstanding, however, I need to show you how to make chili cheese fries!!!!! No offense!!!!! Being a Chef myself, those are the some of the worst I have ever had..... Perfect chili cheese fries are simple!!!! Chili, real shredded cheese and onions. That's all you need!!!

Used to love the Woodman until I was asked to leave by a manager it was later fired by the owner I talked to the owner and he said please come back and I did for the Dodger game on Sunday and one of the older bartender guys asked me to leave again based on some old story. I talked to at 2:00 p.m. I showed the bartender I had a conversation at 2:00 p.m. with the owner he said he didn't remember that the bar was busy and the bartender didn't wasn't willing to call him again and ask again this was at 2:00 and the specifics of it nor the owner's assistant was completely useless didn't try to call the owner himself as I asked him to do so that I can talk to him through the phone and remind him that it was 2:00 and that we had said come on in and why should I be going through all this I did nothing wrong I'll never go to the Woodman again and shame on them for treating a 4-year customer this way

The Woodman really chops it up on Sunday!! With great selection of draft beer and we ordered French Dip sliders with the Fire Elote Lollipops. Service was amazing and we will be back! Next time...Garlic Parm Fries!

I had a very bad experience at Woodman Bar on december 21 and I decided to write a review about it. Unfortunately, the manager/owner of this bar is someone who doesn’t care about customers. He responded to me in a very unprofessional manner instead of checking the CAMERA. When I came to this bar, the person putting on wristbands for guests was putting one on me (it took him at least 20 seconds to do it) while simultaneously unfastening my Cartier bracelet (which has specific mechanism that prevents it from accidental opening). Luckily the bracelet landed on my foot and i have noticed it missing.

Pretty cool spot with a very Gen X and millennial crowd. The music is a few decibels too high to have a conversation in the indoor area, but there's plenty of seating in the patio. I normally get my drinks pretty quickly, regardless of how packed it gets, so kudos to the bartenders. Also, their chicken sliders and fries are very good. (Edited because I realized the tone of my previous review sounded harsh. This bar is a gem and I definitely recommend!)

What used to be my favorite sports bar to go to the best food the best happy hour prices the longest happy hour prices the best in class female bartender named Brittany who I've been going to for years and celebrating Christmas when Crazy Manager Enrique threw me out. I met he new Owner Lonnie at Jalepena Petes near me, and he said Enrique was fired and please come back.. Which i tried to do sunday for the first time in 8 months to watch the LA Dodgers with full Audio. I called at 2pm and Lonnie answered the phone in the noisy Bar and I reconfirmed i could come back and he SAID OF COURSE. When i got there to Order an old Bartender SAID YOURE NOT WELCOME, GET OUT. I also saw Lonnie's first asst and said I checked with Lonnie and he said please come back. And now Lonnie was gone and this old bartender said i just called Lonnie and he doesnt remember you. I showed the BT my phone call a 2pm and said please cal him Again, and he refused and wanted me OUT on the Streeet. Lonnies right hand guy said I have no Authority to do anything..and I said youve seen me at JP's and PLEASE CALL LONNIE AND HE SAID NO. They were very hostile and Ignored my appeal to call Lonnie again. I wrote a shoart note on my business card foro Lonnie and Iam sure the old BT threw it away. SHAME ON YOU GUYS FOR DISCARDING A 4 YR CUSTOMER. I WILL NEVER COME BACK..

I'm not sure why my review disappeared!!! I had written a detailed description of the incidents in this place as I used to be a regular. They overcharged my card once and I noticed that days after I was looking at my bank account and I had to call them to fix it. Yesterday was another incident, today I posted a review to address the problems and noticed that the owner is as rude as his staff. His response to my previous review is attached here as a screenshot! I hope this review does not disappear again. They charge you extra for Operations Fee and they include tip in the bills. Some of the servers and the manager onsite are very rude and cannot address customer concerns politely and instead they ask you "why do you keep coming back?" and today the owner said the exact same thing in response to my review instead of apologizing to a regular! Such a shameful customer service. Never going back again but I believe the readers must be aware of what's going on in this place. Also expect to pay 20% tip (which I usually add anyway but it's different when you do it voluntarily than when it is forced in your bill) plus Operations Fee in your bill and a rude response if you ask "why!"

I visited The Woodman with a friend for quick drinks before dinner, and we ordered their garlic fries. The fries were okay, a tad mushy and not too fresh. They definitely weren't the best that I had, but they were passable. For drinks, I had their Pinot Noir, which was served lukewarm. I think it would've tasted better a bit chilled. Outside of our drinks and food, our server was quite interactive - almost a tad too much. It got a bit awkward when they kept talking about themselves for minutes, and my friend and I just wanted to attempt enjoying our food and drinks. They also selectively ID; I got checked while my friend didn't... :( Other than that, the environment is quite rowdy even at 5pm, so expect to need to talk a little loud to be heard. Parking is also difficult, but they have a back lot that you can pay for the entire night for $5 - an additional cost to consider.

This bar has many deals throughout the week. The $5 burger deal on Monday's and the $3 wings on Wednesday are my personal favorite. $5 Happy hour cocktails go a long way! The dark and rustic ambiance sets the tone for any type of night whether you're on a date or there to watch sports, it's worth checking out if you're on Ventura blvd. Owner is nice too and can tell he cares about his restaurant.

Yeah, I'm behind on my reviews. Like so far behind there's gonna be places I'm not gonna review because I don't remember the details. Remember, I'm getting old ... March Madness. It's what brought me here. Met up with friends to watch one of the games. Doesn't matter who. What mattered is that it was a good time. Evening starting out looking for parking. Street. Metered. Had to run out and feed the meter. Didn't want to take a chance getting stroked a ticket. Indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, it's regular height and bar height tables as well as the bar. Place was hopping but not elbow to elbow. TV's playing sports all around the bar and even outside. Lively, friendly crowd. Excellent service. Friendly too. From the moment I walked in, when it got busy and even as I left. Attentive - even when the game was winding down meaning my party wasn't ordering anything as we had already settled the bill. As for the food and drink - enjoyed the Happy Hour Burger. Pretty sure the price can't be beat. $5 See pics. Grabbed me a burger, salad and dessert. All things I'd order again. Won't drive from home to get the same thing (too far), but it was decent enough that I'd eat here again. I didn't post pics of the drinks but know that I ordered Bourbon neat and straight. Kinda hard to mess up a straight pour. We chose this place to be able to watch the game. With the great experience we had, I can see this being a regular spot for other sporting viewing opportunities.

Slow night tonight but OMG Amadi is the sweetest girl EVER!!! She took such great care of us and if I come back it will literally be for her!!! Amazing service from her! Will definitely come back!

In no uncertain terms, if you are a woman, do not go there. The "manager" Angeleno, gives zero shits if his employees or his customers feel uncomfortable. I got assaulted in front of 2 employees, after I had been complaining about this patron for an hour, and nothing was done. Because he was "harmless". I've had many sketchy interaction there, but they will truly not stand up or do anything if you are unsafe. Please don't go there.

Came to town to see some friends and looking for a place to grab a bite and some drinks. Stumbled across this place. Thank goodness. Our server was awesome. Her name I will not spell correctly but Mikayla or something similar. We had Thai chilli wings and the pub chips. Yummy!!

Showed up to watch football and have brunch. We ordered the Chiquititas and the big boy breakfast. The chiquititas order came out great and the recommended red sauce was amazing. My boyfriend ordered the big boy breakfast. The big boy breakfast is supposed to come with three eggs, three pieces of sausage and three pieces of bacon. The bacon came out and it wasn't well cooked. He only received two eggs, not 3 and no sausage. When we asked for his third egg, it came completely cooked when he had originally his eggs over-medium. When he ordered the sausage and they brought it out it was one piece of sausage cut in half and burnt. I wouldn't recommend Woodman for brunch. I think instead of doing brunch only during football season maybe if they did it all year round the food would be better.

This is an interesting place. I've only been here once, and that was for lunch on a Saturday. They'd just opened for the day and my party and I were the first customers in. Service, as the only table in use, The food was pretty darn good. The ambiance is rustic and modern. If you're in the neighborhood, go. It's good.

The Woodman is a fun and friendly bar with a great, neighborhood feel and a very attentive staff. Bartenders are always chatty, even when busy and working their tails off. The crowd is, likewise, a neighborhood group that's laid back and fun. Food is tasty, though, frankly, nothing all that special. But when you're having a few drinks and watching a game on the TV's, the food doesn't have to be at a fine dining level.

Amadi is literally an angel and is such an incredible person/bartender/server!! Will literally come back just for her! She's totally a girls girl!

First off, if I had written this review two days ago, it would be four or even five stars. I'll explain... I haven't been here in years, not since around the time they first opened. And then I saw they had wing night and I jumped at the chance to do a decent wing night again. Last week I went for the first time in forever. It was excellent. I really enjoyed it. The wings were cheap and really big and perfectly cooked and all around, excellent. The G & T I ordered was whatever, it was like two sips with a very weak pour in a small glass full of ice, but I'll excuse it cuz the wings were $3 for an order of 8 and very good wings. This week I went again. Had the exact opposite experience. The wings looked like remnant reject scraps. They were tiny, with very little meat. Many were odd scrappy little things. Many less than a third the size of the wings I had the week before. They were also all way overcooked, and seemed like they weren't made fresh to order like they were the week before. I ordered a ketel martini that was $18 (!). Nearly the price of one at Mastro's, only that comes with a shaker and is actually like 3 martinis. It was also terrible. Tasted like well vodka as well. The music was insanely loud and terrible. It's a gastropub where people want to talk mingle. I don't know why the music would be that loud at a gastropub. It wasn't loud like that the week prior. And I was sitting outside and it was still aggressively loud. I don't know if they changed ownership or managers from one week to the next or what, but it was night and day how much worse it was. But none of that pissed me off nearly as much as when the bill came... There was a 3% service charge added. The week before I had no such service charge. And on Monday the service charges are banned, so I dunno why they suddenly had one a week before the ban. There was no mention of the 3% service charge on any menu or sign or the website or insta. It was only a buck, but it just felt really gross. And why wasn't it there the week before?! Also the bill said "come for our 25 cent wings on Wednesdays!" on the receipt. But these wings were near 40 cents each. Again, it's not the money that bothers me, the wings are still cheap. But charging me one amount while the bottom of the receipt states another amount is gross. I asked the waitress about the service charge and she gave me some obv pre-rehearsed guilt trip about it going to give the employees a living wage and yadda yadda. Then she asked me if I wanted to speak to the manager. Obv knowing most normal people aren't looking to get into a whole thing with the manager over 99 cents. And I really didn't care about the actual money. If the menu prices were just higher I'd be fine with it. And again, why now a service charge when there wasn't one the week before with the other waitress?! Felt like she just put that in herself or something. The week before I tipped like 25%-30% in cash. This week I tipped 15% plus the 3% forced service charge. And I'm unlikely to go back. So I really feel like these charges and the manipulation of the waitress end up making these places less money. Though the food being ten times worse than the prior week and music being ten times louder and experience being ten times worse likely doesn't help. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the week before I left an item there and realized it this week and went the day before I dined and they were very nice about returning it. I was really set to make going there a regular thing after the excellent experience I had last week and them being so helpful returning my lost item this week, but last night was such a terrible experience with food 10x worse than the week before and being made to feel like I was taken advantage of to steal one whole dollar from me that I dunno if I'll return. It was shocking that the experience could be so much worse in every way one week later. I dunno if the manager is out of town or something. But they really need to have a more consistent experience. It takes a lot for me to not enjoy myself, when the wings cost less than 50 cents I give a lot of leeway, but this was just so bad in every way.

This place was awesome. I was looking for a place to have a drink and found Woodman right off Ventura. The bartender Chad was great. He pretty much worked the entire restaurant and did a fantastic job keeping up with the service and being engaged with the customers. It's a sports bar so they had on the games. I didn't really have anything to eat but the chips and salsa. Being a salsa person it was pretty goods. I'll definitely be back.

I was looking for a place to catch the NBA playoffs so I headed over to The Woodman. This place always has a nice chill vibe and is a fun place to catch sporting events. They usually have all the major games of the day playing, so don't worry about them not having what you want. On this day, MLB, NHL, & NBA all had games going. Happy hour is 7 days a week 430p- 8pm and offers discounts on craft beers, House Wines , & Well Cocktails. They also have a Happy Hour food menu with menu items only costing $7. On this visit, I ordered chicken tacos and chili cheese fries. It was taco Tuesday so the tacos were four for $10. Can't beat it. The tacos had a nice flavor and the chili cheese fries didn't disappoint. The only negative is finding parking. It's meter street parking, so it can be a pain to find a spot. It's also a pain to run out and add time to the meter. You can only put up to two hours at a time. The bartenders are all cool but can easily get distracted.

First time ordering from here in years. Got it through Grub Hub. Ordered the chicken country sliders and key lime pie. Unfortunately the sliders came on Hawaiian rolls, not biscuits. It's possible they don't travel well which is why it's on the regular menu but not available for delivery. Either way, absolutely delicious! Crispy and paired so well with the jam! The pie was also delicious... however, I had to knock off one star because the size of the slice I got was not worth $10. Had I known it was this small, I wouldn't have ordered for that price. Overall, I recommend though.

Came here for wing Wednesday and you really can't beat 25 cent wings! My husband ordered a couple drinks that he said were strong (good). We ordered potato skins. My husband loved them but I thought they were just okay. A little overcooked/slightly burnt for me, but apparently that's what my husband liked about them. Between us, we got 50 wings and somehow ate them all. Lemon pepper - this flavor was fine. Nothing bad, nothing exceptional. Sriracha honey - pretty good. Not as honey-ish as I had hoped. Smokey bbq - also good! Went well with our next flavor. Mango habanero - we were nervous it would be too spicy but it was perfect! Great balance of sweet and spicy. Thai - I loved this one but it is very sweet. But I think this was my favorite. Probably the flavors getting better and better with each order is what enabled is to eat so many wings lol the wings themselves were crispy and fresh. They had a little bit of a funky flavor to them that I can't put my finger on but they were good. Will be back but I'd skip the skins next time.

This bar is awesome. Perfect blend of hipster dive and sports bar. I love the rustic wooden interior and the layout of the seating. Great for dates or small groups of friends. The bartenders are friendly and the happy hour goes until 8pm nearly every night. Unless there is a big sports game or fight, then they cut off happy hour to 6pm. Come here as early as possible because it can get extremely crowded. If you've ever been in this area, parking can be inconvenient, but I've always been able to find something within a short walking distance. There are meter parking on the streets and as long as you look at the signs, there is parking in the residential neighborhoods. After happy hour, prices are average for LA. Food is tasty. I recommend the chips. But I also wouldn't eat dinner here. Only appetizers to go with my drinks.

Great food, Great service. Amazing place to watch a game or take a date. The German waitress knows what you want to drink before you sit down. I love this place

Unfortunately this will be the first and last time my husband and I visit The Woodman. Our credit card that we put on file while we ate was stolen along with 3 other peoples credit cards. Our credit card has numerous unknown charges from various shops nearby and we've had to cancel our credit cards. Although they covered the cost of our meal, to not store credit cards securely is enough to not ever risk coming back.

Came here on a Monday night during HH to watch a football game with my boyfriend. Sat at the bar and Antonio was very helpful. He got our food order in very quickly and helped us pick out a drink for each of our taste!

Great spot to grab some drinks! Plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. I love that there is table service rather than having to try and flag down a bartender yourself. The Paloma was absolutely delicious and not overly sweet. Lots of tvs to catch whatever games are on and an awesome playlist was going on that Saturday. Great vibes

Nice bar good drinks and great bartender!! The food is so so . The have special thing on Wednesday: 25 cent wing Wednesday. You get 8 wings for two dollars..! Amazing deal I do not recommend the Cesar salad ..

This place is mere moments from my home, but it isn't really the kind of place I frequent, not liking sports, alcohol, or noise. But I was interested to try the food so I ordered via DoorDash, sometime around eleven, I think. I was going to try the fried chicken sliders but instead opted for the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I should have gone with the sliders. The cheesesteak was not so good, I'm afraid. Not much flavor and I don't know why it's so hard to get a good Philly cheese in the Sherman Oaks area. I mean, it wasn't the worst I've had from this area - I've had MUCH worse - I just wish it had more cheese, more steak, more Philly stuff, if you get my meaning. I may give the chicken sliders a try at some point because I do like to support local restaurants.

Nauni was the best ! Very attentive and super friendly. I had the jalapeño quesadilla and the firewood both great !

This is ur 2nd weekend back to watch our Boulder football. Lots of sports bars to choose from but here's why I love this place. The staff is super nice and friendly. The restaurant and the bathrooms are so clean. Lots of TVs so watching is great. Fun music, and did I mention how nice everyone is? We will be back. Thank you!

Naumi is a great bartenderette... love her. Happy hour 430 to 8pm. Burgers are good $5 Happy Hour. Lots of TVs. Good service and looks clean. The Elderflower drink is perfect!

Met my gf and her fiancé here for the Chiefs v Bills game. It was my first time here although I walk pass here nearly every day, when I walk to the grocery store. I probably wouldn't choose to just come here on my own but we wanted to watch the game together and she comes often for the Bills games. I liked the open air and spacious lay out, and they have tons of screens with all the games on. Our table of 6 was well taken care of, service is attentive and food/drinks come out in a timely manner. I had Parmesan fries and Buffalo hot wings -not my fav dry lemon pepper from wing stop, but both were fine paired with an old fashioned and an eagle rare neat. I wouldn't rule out coming again since it's so quick and easy for me, although it very clearly isn't the hometown Chiefs bar (Jaleleno Pete's). I walk here but there's metered street parking which is free on Sundays if you're coming for Sunday games.

Been wanting to check this place out and finally did on Monday with my sistas and my daughter. They have a well priced happy hour including food! ***not including cocktails or margs but the regular price is doable. With Monday night Football this place was jamming. A little loud for my taste and when they turned on the music it as very loud and not very good. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE MUSIC! just not what someone decided to play! Lol. We sat out on the patio which I enjoyed since I love to people watch. They have board games to play like "Uno." Fun, fun, fun! Our server was Brittany. She was on point. Attentive, friendly but not in our face. Her timing was impeccable to ask us if wanted another marg! The nachos were okay. Didn't like the creamy imitation cheese, the wings were good and the burger and fries was good! This place is so overpriced, and the drinks are unfortunately watered down .Service was poor and took forever. The only positive are the numerous TV's on the walls . Saw the owner yelling at a patron over a parking spot and one of the employees tried to tazer this poor guy who parked in the wrong spot . Scared me and my friends . Will never go back .

This restaurant appears to be disorganized and negligent in their policies/staff training. Last time we visited them, the bartender told us they needed to hold a physical card to dine in. My boyfriend offered to pay with Apple Pay as he didn't have a physical card. The bartender assured us that we didn't need to rush closing out with Apple Pay as the physical card would not be charged at all. It was merely a restaurant policy. I reluctantly gave my card to her to hold and emphasized that the card should not be charged since my boyfriend already told them he'd be paying the bill via Apple Pay. She reassured us that there would be no charge and we proceeded with our meal. My boyfriend went to the bar and paid with Apple Pay and got my card back as we finished. Problem is, when we got back home, I saw they charged my card which I never authorized and verbally advised against. I also tried to call the restaurant to explain and resolve the situation, but unfortunately they didn't pick up the phone. I then spoke with my bank and opened a dispute for this transaction as reaching out was unsuccessful. The process was time intensive and didn't solve the issue in the end. This is unacceptable as the staff should be trained to properly carry out the policies of holding customers' card and following instructions when it comes to people's money. I will not return to this restaurant again and certainly could not recommend this place to anyone. This is very unprofessional and their policies/practices are misleading. The bartender made a mistake and the business should've taken responsibility. Moreover, they should adhere to the policies they set forward and handle transactions with their customers properly. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, it's unbelievable!!!

They charge a large tip on even a party of two. No notice of such a scam anywhere on the menu or anywhere. Con man owner obviously. Saw someone vaping inside as well even though there's a sign inside saying no vaping. Nasty

Worst bar ever. My friend and two buddies decided to go there for a few drinks. I think it was close to 12 am. My buddy accidentally dropped his vape on the floor. The bouncer saw it and went up to him and demanded that he leave, that our night was over. I was like we just bought drinks, can we at least finish our drinks before we leave. Then they started pushing my buddy out and a scuffle started with the bouncer. I had to hold my friend back from knocking out one of their bouncers. What a bad experience, I have never seen customers treated so badly!

The drink and food are amazing! My favorite drink is the Berries Bliss. Let me tell you about the Buffalo Shrimp! They are delicious! All staff is friendly and the vibe/ambiance is friendly and chill

The food was okay. The bar tender with long hair who was also a manager is very rude. I ordered 2 shots and only got 1 and waited another 10 minutes to get his attention and he assumed I was lying. We got there sat the bar and waited 10 minutes until he decided to serve us. It slow mind you. He looked like he didn't wanna be there. He had no personality not friendly either. My friend didn't like her food and every time we tried to get his attention he didn't come. Until I called the other guy who was there. He was upset that we even complained. It' was my first time there and last time. I'm a bartender myself and I hated this interaction

It's a chill bar to watch sports, grab a bite, a drink and just have a relaxing evening. The burgers are pretty good, but I will say the only thing that kind of held it back for us was how long it took the servers to come to us. It wasn't a particularly busy night either, but yeah we just waited there for a while to get a menu, a check, etc. Still a chill time though.

Decent happy hour deals! Drinks are tasty. Only complaint is with the "wing Wednesday" deal, you are given the world's smallest chicken wings you'll ever see. Nice place to hang out in the evening. I was there on Tuesday night and Friday night and I must say it's completely different crowd! The bartenders are extremely nice friendly and cool ! The food is ok. Prices are affordable. Will be back soon :)

Use to come here to see Enrique he was my favorite manager! Turns out they got rid of him. Went to go this weekend and place has gone down hill big time as to say. Old bartender with long hair was rude and seemed not very social. I wish they had the same vibe they did a year ago. Quality went down on the food. Not very welcoming anymore. Won't be back unfortunately. Hope they improve on everything.

On a Thursday night it was pretty packed. If you like loud music and louder people then this place might work for you. But if you are middle aged and want to have a conversation with your friends while enjoying some cocktails or beer then I do not recommend it. The food was nothing to write home about.

Came to watch the UFC fights. It gets really packed so if you want to watch the fights come early to get a spot. The food was meh, but they might have been slammed. Great place to grab a drink and chill on a regular day.

OMG ANTONIOOOOOOO!!!! I friken love you! I literally wait all week for Mondays so I can see his beautiful face! He's hilarious!!! He always has the entire bar vibing. He's literally the best bartender I know! The burgers are amazing, the drinks are amazing, the staff is amazing, the vibes are amazing!!! You can't go wrong with the Woodman!

ANTONIO IS MY FAVORITE BARTENDER EVER! hes so funny & makes the best drinks!!! he makes mondays worth living (: the $5 burgers are so goooooodd recommend 100000% YAAHOOOOO
