Super warm staff and some brilliant food makes this place a must visit. You have plenty of seating options. The place has 2 entrances and that confused us a bit, especially since the side one was unmanned. From the Menu, we loved the Creamy Tomato Soup and the Catfish and Shrimp platter. Will definitely visit again.

Last time we came, the wait was almost 2 hours! It was the first weekend of the year where the weather was perfect for dining outside. We made reservations this time and glad we did! It was spectacular. We ordered the queso twice because it was so incredible. We don't get out to McKinney often, but this is a must.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is just beautiful! The staff is super friendly and personable. The food is absolutely delicious! 😋 I had the smash burger with a side of elote. My husband had the fried cat fish and shrimp with waffle fries! Will definitely return!

We had such a great experience at The Yard in McKinney! Even though it was packed, the service was fast, friendly, and our entire order came out perfectly. I had the Epic Shrimp Burrito with chips and queso — everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. My mom got the Surf Tacos and loved them. My daughter ordered The Yard Burger with specific sauces, and they got everything just right. The atmosphere is super clean, welcoming, and has such a great vibe. Huge shoutout to our server, Akhil — he was kind, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. Delicious food, awesome service — we’ll definitely be back!

Would recommend their salmon, burrito bowl, shrimp tacos, and wings in the appetizer section! They have a happy hour selection that ends at 6. Place can get pretty busy for dinner, so if you can, reserve a table ahead of time!

Such a fun and welcoming spot with a great atmosphere. Super vegetarian friendly too. The fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned, the veggie burger was packed with flavor, and the drinks were refreshing and creative. Can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu!

Always a fun place! Love the food and drinks. The staff is amazing. Can't go wrong at The Yard. Lots of parking on the backside. Parking lot and side streets always look full but just go around and there is a big lot.

Staff was very friendly! And the plants and flowers were gorgeous! The Buffalo Shrimp was amazing! I had the church street club and my partner had the burger! We both liked our main dishes! My partner was pleasantly surprised it was a double patty since the menu doesn’t mention it. My sandwich was delicious as well. My biggest food complaint was the fries. They felt a little chewy like they were heated with a lamp. Other than that, I had an enjoyable time at The Yard! And yes the double entrances is very confusing.

When we first walked in, we thought it was a small restaurant, but there was such a cute patio with a fireplace in the back. It was a chilly evening too and there were tons of heating lamps. The service and ambiance were amazing. The food was also delicious. We got the chicken tenders (apparently they have the same supplier as Raising Canes), front porch nachos with chicken tinga and smothered waffle fries. Highly recommend! Loved the drinks too

Today, we checked out The Yard, a charming outdoor spot perfect for a casual meal. Though it was a bit hot outside, the laid-back atmosphere made up for it. We couldn't resist the fried pickles - crispy and delicious! The nachos were tasty too, though they could have used a bit more cheese to cover them better. The highlight, however, was the shrimp tacos - they were simply fantastic. Service was great too! Shoutout to Cj! Despite the heat (which is out of their control), our experience at The Yard was enjoyable, and we look forward to returning for more of those shrimp tacos!

My wife and I went here on Saturday and it was one of the worst experiences we've had since moving to the area. We arrived at about 815. When greeted by the hostess, they would not speak directly to us, but rather speak down into their iPad. When we had to ask them to repeat everything they were saying, they got frustrated and, still look down in their iPad, but change their tone and raised their voice. Then while we were waiting, we went to walk up bar to get a drink where the bartenders could not stay organized enough to figure out who to help first. We ended up directing them towards, the young lady who had been ignored by two different bartenders. When it was time to be seated, the hostess were having a conversation that was highly inappropriate about another coworker, but talking into their iPad and behind menus held up to their face, before rudely and unenthusiastically saying "this way" . Upon attempting to use the restroom, we found that the women's room did not have any paper towels, and only one stall was working. As we exited, there were three men (who we assumed were managers as they were actively watching others work around them) standing there with tablets having a conversation. My wife, let them know about the restroom situation to which there was no apology, but simply, a "we know now" answer. Once we were sat, the bartender/waiter helping us was quite possibly the most unprofessional person I've ever seen. During our entire time at the table, he never spoke one full sentence. He would walk by and do a thumbs up and say one word like "good" or "drink". The closest he came to a full sentence was stringing two words together at the end when returning my card. As for the food, it wasn't bad. But it was nothing to write home about. We had the brisket Sandwich on a hoagie. The meat was dry and there was no sauce offered with it so it was not the best presentation. My wife had the fish tacos, which came deconstructed on a bed of cauliflower. The fish was OK, but the cauliflower was an odd consistency to put on the tortilla. The tortillas were not the best quality so she just ate the fish. To top it all off as we were leaving over half the staff was huddled around the bottom of the stairs, talking and carrying on. This included the three managers we had run into earlier. We had to stop on the stairs and excuse ourselves to get through the group. I honestly hate writing negative reviews, but this was not a great experience. I could see that there was a lack of leadership and organization for those working that seem to cause most of these issues.

Al fresco dining is a lifestyle in the DFW area, and The Yard does the tradition justice. Their patio situation makes you feel like you're at a friends backyard, while maintaining a great socialness and vibrant crowd. Dig into the Front Porch Nachos, while literally along the backporch of the property.

A very very fun place! I love the outdoor patio seating. Great drinks, good American food. Service is very fast and friendly. Definitely a "good vibes" place to come with your friends or family!

$5-$7 for 16oz Cold Draft Beer!! Sunday night 9pmish still had a good amount of people out on dates, eating with family, and more. Chill indoor outdoor place, upbeat funky jams, lively outdoor terrace space.. Great for pups, and small to larger groups. The outdoor place is fun with different leveled areas. Love love the design of the outdoor space! The many aged trees within the patio space really makes the outdoor vibe. Theres lots of heat lamps around, and shade from either umbrellas or trees. Beer cups are plastic. Must mean this place can get pretty crowded and rowdy? Fun place. It is less about a mile/22min stroll from Hutchin's BBQ. We ate bbq, and strolled off our food to Historic Downtown McKinney...full of a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. Almost everything was closed on a Sunday 9pmish though.

Came back again and it never disappoints. This place is consistently good and the best place for group settings. Last night, it was packed with graduates and their families. We got in and out at 8pm. We ordered 3 perle froze, half order of chicken nachos, half order of brisket nachos, and sweet & spicy wings. Everything was so good and the drinks were strong. It was hard to find parking on a Thursday night with all the people celebrating but we managed to snag a spot across the street.

The food and service are impeccable! Don't worry if it's cold out, you can still sit outside and enjoy the food with the enclosure and heaters galore! Chef inspired meals hearty drinks and televisions for catching up on missed sporting events are pretty awesome!

Went for lunch and ordered a few drinks and entrees. The TX smothered waffle fries were pretty tasty. The pulled pork was flavorful, though I wish the fries were a tad crispier since they had queso on them. The church street club was huge; filled with a ton of turkey and was quite filling. The drinks we ordered were some wine and the perl frosé. For the price, I'd think the frosé should be bigger. Overall, a cool place to eat or drink and be satisfied with your choices.

Service was great fast and friendly The place is pretty big nice outside and indoor seating. Food, you get a lot for what your pay. Brisket nachos 10/10 Grain bowl 10/10 Chicken tenders 10/10

If this rating were based just on the ambiance it's an easy 5 stars. It's a great place to come sit outside with friends and get some drinks. The watermelonade drink was fantastic and the salt rim looked like a salt lamp. The backyard punch tasted medicinal, but it was happy hour so not too much money lost. As far as food, the brisket nachos and fried chicken were solid, but nothing special. The brisket was a little dry. The service was very fast and the servers were attentive.

Love a relaxing lunch at The Yard. Their food is soooo good and the drinks too! You HAVE to try their new strawberry shortcake dessert. It is divine! A new take on it. Instead of angel food cake, it's made with gooey cake and it is the best dessert I have ever had!

Simply a great experience, great vibe and energy, give it a try! Buffalo wings are the best!

The chicken wings are sort of spicy so please be careful when consuming them! Service was good. The ambiance of this place is probably the best part of it. It has indoor and outdoor seating and has a lot of TVs for your sporting needs. Very spacious for watch parties!

We popped in to see what it was like. Great outdoor dining area and great inside seating. We had the fried pickles that were crispy. Wife had a salad and I had the Mahi mahi tacos. Both were delicious. Server was on top of it kept coming by periodically to check on us. Overall great place to hang out. They also have a dog area.

we came on a Thursday afternoon and got seated right away. great outdoor seating, pet friendly, food was good & the staff we're very friendly and attentive.

We stopped by after playing pickleball & there were so many seating options! The yard is great for large groups since the tables are very long. We opted to eat outside. It was a little chilly but the heating poles are the perfect touch of coziness! My husband ordered a burrito bowl and had no complaints. I had the Yard burger which was nice and juicy. Only wished they used a different bun but that's just me being picky, it was still delicious nonetheless. My friend ordered an off menu chicken sandwich. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection but the pimento cheese was lacking in flavor & texture. Overall the yard provided us great ambiance, food & customer service after pickle ball!

We tried this place this afternoon. For some reason, we waited for about twenty minutes with no service after being seated. We finally asked someone to find our waiter. He came by soon and we immediately ordered our food and drinks. I had a plain Caesar salad, my daughter had the Caesar salad with salmon and my daughter's fiancé had the mahi mahi tacos. They brought us plenty of water. I had a coke and was not offered a refill. I can only assume that they were shorthanded today, as it didn't seem to be busy outside where we were sitting. We had my daughter's dogs and they were given a big bowl of water. There were fans, but no misters. We might return here.

Delicious!!!! We stopped by for some afternoon snacks. We had the sweet and spicy wings, queso, cheese and cracker plate, chili, and chicken tenders. The chili had a lot of beans so if you like beans then you would enjoy! The wings had the perfect amount of heat complemented by the sweetness of the sauce. The taco ranch tortilla chips were fresh and crunchy and the queso was spot on!! The cheese and cracker plate was my favorite part, simple yet a staple!!! The service was spot on, and a bunch of TVs to watch college football! Would definitely recommend if you are in Downtown McKinney!

Love this place! My finance and I went for a quick lunch and we were able to get seated right away. The garden area is beautiful and the food was amazing! Even on a hot Texas day the shade of the trees made sitting outside enjoyable. Their cocktails are really good and everything is priced right!

My nephew and his fife and daughter came to visit me for the first time since I moved to Texas. I don't know many good places to eat so we've been picking random spots and going. We enjoyed every aspect of the place. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was amazing, she made many recommendations, was very attentive, and was spot on with her service. We were all very happy we sat in her section. I got the pulled pork taco bowl which was delicious. I don't remember the names of the food my nephew and his wife ordered, but I have pictures and they both said it was beyond scrumptious. The Oreo cookie ice cream sandwich was big enough for all of us to share. The drinks were very good, strong enough to know it's alcohol, but not overpowering in taste. I enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere where we were seated. I recommend this place to everyone, I'll definitely be back

Tasty, fresh food! The ambience is really fun and had great vibes. Great place to go when it's nice out! The shrimp tacos are delicious.

The food is always hit or miss here anymore. We always order the nachos because we are gluttons for punishment. Every time it's missing the meat or just chip crumbs or the cheese is not melted as was this time. I feel like nachos are on the easier items to make on a menu. The outside patio is their saving grace.

The food was great & the outdoor seating is fun & fabulous! This is a fun place to meet up with friends & family.

My wife and I love the yard. We try to grab a table next to the outdoor bar on the deck. Always impressed how nice and tentative the staff are. We also love watching the dogs hanging out with their owners. Great food and drinks!! Always a good time!

I had a great experience here at The Yard. The combination of delicious food and drinks made for a memorable experience. The ambiance was enhanced by the outdoor scenary, which added to the overall enjoyment. Initially, seated at a table, we started to feel the heat, but the staff went above and beyond. They kindly accomadated our request and relocated us to a table with a mist fan. Overall, good food and great customer service. I would definitely recommend checking out The Yard

The Yard put me back in my college tailgate mindset and I can't wait to come back on football Saturdays this fall. This is the perfect location for spring, summer, and fall laid back hang outs with a group of friends. They have plenty of TVs to watch the game of your choice, and an amazing taste in country classics blasting the speakers. The food was also delicious! Loved the loaded waffle fries we got, along with the chicken tenders and burrito bowl. Only thing that wasn't tasty was the potato soup - the sour cream gave it a sour / acidic taste which was unusual for the usual creaminess of the soup.

Great Ambience, Local Draft Beers, Great food and Service. Parking you may have to do street parking, as the place had few parking spots. However, the next lane you can find more parking spaces. Will I come back ? Yes

Went for happy hour. The Yard Smash was amazing!!! Split the queso (really enjoyed) and loaded waffle fries. Loved the outdoor seating area...was a beautiful location that had both outdoor heaters and fans, so I could see this being a great venue for different kinds of weather. Additionally, this would be a great place for larger group get togethers. Service was prompt and the server was kind.

Imagine going to a sorority house perched on a hill and everyone is chilling and having a good time at welcome week. That's the nostalgic feeling you get when you dine at this establishment! They have so many wait + serving staff, my party was seated in a timely manner. American cuisine with flavorful spins. I tried the appetizer portion of a Buffalo wing tasting, panko breaded shrimp. I liked it! I noticed a neighboring table enjoying watermelon and pineapple wedges with tajin! Told you the flavorful spin was here. Would I come back again? Yes. It's the kind of place you can take your family to or sneak away with a loved one in the corner bar area also. Win win!

You have got to try this outdoor eatery! The atmosphere and food are 5 stars. You will love everything that you order from nachos to burgers to salads- so good. There is a separate area for kids which include games. Dogs are always welcome! Parking can be a challenge but there is a paid parking lot across the street. It's best to come early.

Last Sunday, we had lunch after church at The Yard. There were ten people in our group and when we arrived, many of the tables were already taken, but the hostesses were still able to find us a table right away. Our waiter brought out big glasses of ice water for us to drink while he took our drink orders and passed out menu's. We enjoyed an appetizer, chips and salsa, while our waiter took the orders. It didn't take long for our food to arrive and, the food was delicious. The waiter was attentive and brought us fresh drinks before we even knew we needed one! We enjoyed our meal and we were thankful for the fans since it was getting warmer outdoors. We'll definitely be back to eat at Yard soon!

Brought my family here last summer. What a great place! Especially for kids! The food, service, ambiance, seating, drinks, everything was outstanding! Definitely worth checking out. If you are out of town like we were, and traveling down 75 through McKinney, do yourself a favor and avoid the chain restaurants and come here. You won't be disappointed!

If you haven't given The Yard a chance, add it to your list. It is one of my staples when guests come to town or I want to enjoy the weather and a drink. You can easily show up without a reservation but know you'll have quite a wait on your hands on most weekends. If you're a patio lover like myself, the wait won't matter after you grab a ranch water and gather round the many fire pits on the property. The food is tasty and is what one can expect from an American restaurant in Texas. The fried foods are typical southern fare but the nachos perfectly compliment the setting and go great with a Dallas Blonde beer. The bar has a great mix of traditional cocktails and adventures spirits to accompany their large selection of beer (both local and traditional). Overall, The Yard should be experienced. If it's your vibe, you'll be back time and time again.

Oh my goodness! Had the most delicious new drink at The Yard last evening! It's called the Texas Squeeze. Sooo refreshing, made with Tito's, lemon and blueberry! While enjoying the fun surroundings and tasty beverage, we got to meet and visit with the three fabulous managers...Jonathan, Brad and Reuben, who shared about the brand new menu items they've recently added. Can't wait to go back and try them! When (IF shouldn't be an option!), you go, be sure and chat with the managers...see if you can figure out which one is a new, first-time daddy!

This place is overpriced for the meals. I wish I had gotten a picture of my whole plate. The queso and drinks were the best part. Vibe outside is great (been here before) but the entree was maybe 2 stars itself. It was unfortunately a little rainy and got cold so we sat inside. I got the chopped steak with fries. I had about 8 waffle fries with the meal and what looked like an attempt at a Philly cheesesteak--$18. I'd come back for drinks and the atmosphere hands down. Not the entrees.

Came with the family on a Tuesday. Plenty of staff and the service was good. Not very busy and decided to sit out side because it was somewhat cool. Had misters on the deck so was very comfortable. Had the brisket nachos, pickle dip, burrito bowel, fish and shrimp and Turkey meatloaf. Food was decent and nothing bad to say but nothing super delicious. Maybe some better things on the menu and definitely a great place to take the family during a down town event.

Overall, I really enjoy this place! We got the chicken nachos and a mixed green salad. Food was 10/10 and atmosphere (during football season especially) is 10/10! Our only hiccup is the host at the host stand was rude when we walked up. He didn't acknowledge me so I had to awkwardly say our table size. Then he told me to hang on, which is fine, but he didn't say it kindly. He just seemed irritated and I'm sure it was something totally unrelated to me, but he needed to shake it off.

This place is great to eat outside with a few people or a large group. It has seating inside as well. I enjoy the vast menu. The food is tasty and the drinks are pretty and delicious. I have had excellent service each time I have visited and hope to go again soon!

Really cool outdoor (and indoor) restaurant! There was several heaters and fire pit so even though it was a cool day we stayed warm. I had shrimp tacos with chips and queso and my husband had the turkey club with roasted sweet potatoes and both were delicious and fresh. We got seated quickly and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would love to come again when we are in the area.

I absolutely enjoyed the outdoor seating at the Yard. My husband ans I were driving from Virginia to Nevada and decided to meet some friends here for lunch and take a break from driving. I'm SO glad we did! Amazing outdoor seating, dog friendly, and a lovely indoor/outdoor bar with several TVs to watch your favorite sports! Food was delicious. I had the tacos, nachos and a lovely drink from the bar. Service was fast and very friendly, our server was able to answer all of our questions and even helped pick out some fun drinks. All-in-all a VERY lovely place to eat at. Ambiance: casual Cost: average Cleanliness: very clean and no dinnerware sitting out Service: excellent
